  1. Hi there and welcome! I think with how varied the communities are and thanks to the world transfer system I think you will be able to find just about anything you want! I wish you the best of luck and if you ever need help or want to chat I would be then happy to help! You can hit me up on Kinara Banhi@balmung or Bauldric the Crook Neck Knight#1337 on disco. I don't have any great links or anything like that to share but I have a lot of random facts stashed away in the trash bin of a mind I have and I know where to find a thing or two.
  2. Hi Bountiful! The character looks great and your card has inspired me to maybe make one someday. Maybe. I wish you the best of luck and I hope many great stories! -Bauldric
  3. Hi Alucard! I play a character that is often in need of a hired sword or shield. My character Kinara is an Ul'dah native as well. Kinara is also a crafter by trade and does not have the skills to go places that are more dangerous. She is often getting contracts that may require her to go to far more dangerous places then she can handle. If you would like to know more we can set something up over discord (Bauldric the Crook Neck Knight#1337) or DMs here. You can also hit me up in-game if you happen to catch me but when I am in-game I tend to afk a lot since I get easily distracted since I am leveling crafters atm. I know you are on a different server than I am but with cross world travel I imagine we could make something work or even over Disco. I can also gladly share more info over the DM's or disco as well. I would definitely be down for a long term RP buddy and working towards character growth and progression. I also tend to treat everything my character goes through as canon though with Discord RP timeline can become a bit hard to juggle from my experience so we would need to setup when an event was taking place and for how long. I hope to hear from you! -Bauldric
  4. Hi Everyone! Holy crap I came back and re-did this since I've been working on my character. Why I'm here: I go by Bauldric online and I am looking to make connections for my character and to make some new friends that enjoy the same aspects of the game as I do. This can be participants for IC crafting quests, adventures, business settings, and other non-sense I can't even think of currently. I'm looking for mainly long-term roleplay opportunities and I am not opposed to almost any kind of RP so long as it based in the story of the character's life. So hit me up if you are interested! IC Info: Full Name: Kindled Flame Age: 29 Place of Birth: Ul'dah Race: Hellsguard Roegadyn Home: None at the moment (Traveling Trader) Profession: Tradeswoman/Surveyor Primary Skills: Working trade deals and obtaining supplies Mineral identication and collection Geological and General Surveying Jewelry making Link for backstory and in-depth character info. OOC Info: Playtimes: I am a night owl but work a day job. On weekends I can be found at any time but during the weekdays I work 8am-5pm. I am found at PST times. Contact Info: Contact me in-game at Kindled Flame or by DM on this site. You can also leave a reply here on this thread or snag another contact method from my Carrd.
  5. Hi! I saw your post and was curious if your characters would be interested in dealing with a trader/crafter who wanders about. I am looking to setup some stories for my character and they could always use someone who is a fighter around to help them with odd jobs and contracts from time to time. As well since she is recently returned from over seas she is rebuilding her business and could always use some buddies. Since I am also just returning I am looking mainly to jump into other peoples plots and stories for the time being while I get my bearing so I would definitely be down for some long term character growth/story arcs to help with or participate in. -Bauldric
  6. Hello! I would be down to potentially set something up. I play a crafter/gatherer/trader character who is always on the hunt for valuable stuff to collect and trade. I was actually thinking of some fun ideas for adventuring out into the wilderness with a guard to ICly collect crafting materials for orders. My character is a jack of all trades and master of none. Her main value is in her knowledge and stubbornness. If you would be down feel free to hit me up! In-game my characters name is Kinara Banhi on Balmung and my Disco is Bauldric the Crook Neck Knight#1337. A little about me and my character: OOC: I am just returning the game after a couple year hiatus. I used to roleplay a lot (not just in FFXIV) before I left so I may be a little Rusty. I quit RP and MMOs and replaced it with being a DM for smaller adventures in a DnD group I was apart of for a while. Work and life eventually ended that and right now I have an eye condition that may make me a little slow to read or need a break. IC: Kinara Banhi is an Ul'dahn native who set out to see the world and learn where she wanted to fit in. Her father was a smaller Merchant who believed in only selling his own crafts which he made and gathered with his own two hands. He taught Kinara a lot before she set out to find her own path. She now basically is a crafter for hire who in between jobs goes out to find rare and valuable things to sell. After spending a few years abroad she has returned with a lot more knowledge and a few more skills. -Bauldric
  7. I am not sure you have gotten any hits but I would be more then happy to help with a lot of what you posted here. I am just returning myself after a long hiatus from the game after finishing the initial portion of Stormblood at its launch. I am pretty knowledgeable in a lot of the game but content relating to Shadowbringers. I would be happy to help you get up to speed and help get you initially acquainted with the game while I am getting myself caught up as well. If you're interested feel free to hit me up and we can talk characters, goals, lore, and what you are looking for. I can't promise I can solve all your criteria here since I usually let story flow naturally then script it when it comes to more casual RP. None the less I would love to help you out any way I can. Just let me know! P.S: I also may surprise you with Viera lore since I was initially planning on playing one but the lack of helmet killed it for me. I love my fancy hats.
  8. Here are my answers to my own post: :chocobo: Buy a house, build it into a shop, build a network of rpers who would have characters who'd frequently use this type of connection (or have so many clients you're always busy), and get into lots of trouble. :chocobo: Find many ways to twist your deals into fun adventures and possible trouble with others (e.g: Grumpy mage who you stole the tome from, the angry monster that killed one of your mercs, or that man who always tries to barter even though you told him the prices were set). :chocobo: Rare cure-alls, relics from the past (allagan, mhachi, etc.), varied delicacies not known to the region. ( I have no ideas on specifics thus why I asked what you all think ) :chocobo: Controlled chaos.
  9. So, I've been a long time away when it comes to the idea of trade and commerce in Eorzea. I've always wanted to run a bizarre and rare goods emporium and with my most recent character I've decided to start that. However, while I can come up with things to trade and what not I want some input on how to handle it. Personally I want to build up a lot of rp contacts to either be buyers or sellers (maybe a little of both?). Obviously I don't have this since I am starting a new character but here is the glory of a new character, a chance to see different mind sets and thoughts on the matter. One little idea I came upon yesterday was using clients to also be my sellers (such as offered to get this rare gem made into a jewel while having part of the payment be getting rare herbs to sell to alchemists). Given what I would like to do versus what I am doing (using NPCs) I am curious what other people's methods are and how you build rp stories out of the whole trading process besides saying "here is money" and "here is item" with no adventure or intrigue involved. To get the point! The real question here is: :chocobo: How would you or do you handle a character that is a trader/crafter/merchant/caravan-er/sailor/etc.? :chocobo: How do you actually generate the story and life for your character? :chocobo: What would you consider rare/hard to get/bizarre goods in Eorzea (e.g:Morbol Fruit from Aurum Vale)? :chocobo: What do you believe the secret of life (rp) is?
  10. Hi, I am finally trying to broaden my horizons in RP and would love to get an invite. I will look for you guys in-game and see if I can snag a chat. If you don't mind of course. (Character: Adelena Goldhammer) :tonberry:
  11. I hate to keep reposting here but I wanted to see if anyone would be up to review this for me and give me there two cents on it. Since I already had a threaded started I figured best to use it. I submitted the final rough draft of my character onto the RPC wiki for everyone to view (yay!). So without further ado! https://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/Cecieroux_Ormesang Please treat it gently with hugs and cuddles! :chocobo::chocobo::chocobo:
  12. To preface this: I have a relatively new character. One of which has not been fully fleshed out but I love these types of questions because I feel like they give you a new perspective on the character so I hope you don't mind me answering them. ANYWAY...:chocobo: -What are your character's beliefs and goals, and how do you like to see them addressed in roleplay, either by yourself or by the characters around you? Cecieroux is a man that is cynical yet playful. His beliefs toy with the foundation that there is some higher power out there pulling the strings to the world it's just he questions if it's really what we perceive it to be. He wants to examine all cracks in the system to see if they bring about actual answers to the questions or if they bring only more questions. His goals are to find validation through the unknown. How he plays with this in roleplay is always pressing people's buttons to find out the many ways they work and finding out forbidden facts. Whether that be a family secret or a way to open a portal to hell. Either would suit him fine for his curiousity. Rules are meant to be bent and understood in a more solid way. To find out if the man making them is really a good lawmaker or simply someone that wants to get ahead in the world. Everyone has an angle, and he wants to see what angle everything is coming from. That all being said. It is very hard for him to believe people at face value believing that people are always trying to scam him or take what he has. It gives him a hard time believing that people do things out of kindness. He believe more so that people do kind things to go up in the world. That there is always a benefit or general improvement from doing something for someone else. He will help people purely because it benefits him rather then to help them. -Are there some in-character beliefs/goals that you consider to be essentially correct or just and refuse to see undermined in RP? On the other hand, are there beliefs that you want to see undermined or challenged but haven't done so yet? He finds these two core beliefs almost undeniably true. While one is often challenged (that people are always out for themselves) the other is often hard to question. People that are just genuinely nice and noble unnerve him. Not because these traits are foreign but because it makes him feel like they have extra to hide. I would love to meet a noble selfless knight type character in-game for him to really play off of. I feel like these beliefs being challenged would be good things. As an rper I love it when things are presented in a different twist and to have my characters questioned. Struggle and chaos are the kind of spice sometimes to gaming and stories. -Do you leave your character's goals open to completion by other people, or do you prefer to resolve them yourself? Personally I leave them up to be resolved however they are. If I resolve them myself I often feel like there is a lack of surprise to the experience and it might be a wasted endeavor to rp at all. It depends on the story but I generally like to find a cooperative experience in rp where it's a little bit of both and not just one or the other. -Is it possible for your character's beliefs to be undermined or goals to be achieved in such a way that the character is no longer satisfying to play? What do you do if that happens? I actually experienced this with a character once. Where the rp ended in basically him settling down into a daily routine and just leading a pleasant life. I killed off the character shortly afterwards because he was no longer really playable and that ending felt completely unsatisfying for the story that had lead up to that point. However, that character has some of the largest impact on my play style since he was the only finished product I ever produced from rp. I put at least three days work in ending him, and when I did I made sure it felt up to the flourish it all began with. If he had punctuated with dying out quietly it would have been really unbalanced and I feel unfair to the story as a whole.
  13. I justified it through making him have to learn through circumstance. Usually like if I want to be a thief type character they are born into being a street urchin or crime syndicate. Since my current character is a Lancer (in-game dragoon) I have it coming from his father leaving him a lance as an heirloom so it's all he carries with him more out of superstition then anything else. Which in turn forces him to learn how to use it to defend himself. EDIT: DANG IT I KEEP FORGETTING MY CHOCOBOS TODAY! :chocobo::chocobo::chocobo::chocobo::chocobo::tonberry::chocobo:
  14. I've had this issue a lot. Sometimes to the extent that I remake, tweak, or edit the story of the character with current interactions to make him change to what I want him to be. My solution always has been to find or add a story avenue to explain as to why suddenly I am okay with wielding a bow now. With my last character, I had it be a hunting thing. He really got into finding and hunting down dangerous beasts. While I can do that alright with a sword and shield, it's much easier if you can tag them from far away. I also befriended a archer type that was willing to persuade my character of it's benefits. So there's my two cents on it. EDIT: Forgot my chocobos. :chocobo::chocobo::chocobo::chocobo::chocobo::chocobo::chocobo::chocobo:
  15. I'll start looking to strike up a meet and greet or two the next three days seeing as I have the days off. Let me know if you want to meet up then or have time to. Otherwise just poke me in-game. I am looking for linkshells but that I handle a bit more privately. I just wanted to throw this out there to see who and what was around besides linkshells. Sometimes it's more fun to meet people on a personal level then always meeting them in a large group. Thanks for the feedback guys I really appreciate it. :chocobo::chocobo: Now I just need to get time to get in game and rp. So that way I can start flexing the creative muscle again.
  16. What stopped me in the past was simply put...laziness and a lack of interest. Not because of anything to do with the game but more so too much going on in real life. That's been changed mostly. I would love to meet you some time in-game Rinni. I forgot to mention though I am mostly a night owl with work as of late.
  17. I did all this way back before name change was a thing and it drove me nuts to have a name that was clearly Roegadyn on a Elezen.
  18. So, I've been gone a long time and been WAY out of touch. Dust and cob webs have settled into places they shouldn't and my apartment looks ram-shackled and gone through. :tonberry: The point of this is...I came back home and everyone else has moved out and moved on. So I need to make new contacts. I am restarting everything. Including my characters. I actually deleted all my old characters (yes, I've heard it all. It is my regret with how much OOC time I spent working on them). So I am here to try and make some new contacts and friends. I need to get past my issues that kept me from rping in the past and move forward into the bright new friend filled future. The character I am working on is pretty much a free lancing wander that works on anything as he passes through town to get room and board for the night and then moves on the next day. He grew up a poor farm hand/thief and has straightened out since then. He was a blade at one point in time and that's how he learned to fight. His main hobbies are magic curiosities and relics. As well story collecting about such things. I know I didn't give much here but that's cause I've just started cutting the stone and don't know what's really al there yet. I need to meet people to really get that worked out. So! If you want to make friends and possibly help flesh out a character AND some cool stories let me know! Cecieroux Ormesang is the in-game character and I play mainly late at night or really early in the morning due to work schedules. If the name isn't spelled right (which I keep misspelling it for some dang reason (>.<) )) please let me know! Thanks for your time! I hope to hear from you soon! :chocobo::chocobo::chocobo:
  19. I've got a Roegadyn named Burning Mountain that is a traveling scholar (as in intellectual not class) and likes to frequent Gridinia. Maybe we could have had them met in the past or something. Just hit me up and we can set something up. Message me on here or in-game under that character name.
  20. No no no no no, sorry for the confusion. Story tellers aren't part of anything. They are just random people telling stories at the events. That's it. They are not associated at the gathers at all. What's going on is simply gathers gathering the people in a city together and to share stories with everyone while gathering the stories down at the same time. Storytellers and observers are the same thing. They are the attendee's of the event. I don't think we should be creating a repository for everyone since this is supposed to be a simple thing that is really only meant oocly to get people together and to show off people's talents for writing stories and what not. Its not that I don't like your idea its just going way past what I intend with this project.
  21. And the plan was to use it trading between cities and not in the same city but once every two weeks or so to make rp be spread out among the world and not centralized in one place. Don't know if I forgot to add that.
  22. Well I was thinking the gatherers would tell stories themselves so maybe create a sub forum that was stories sent to the gatherers instead of told to them? For storytellers I was thinking of purely that they would come up with their own stories or tell stories that they heard. I am glad this is getting so much interest and I really appreciate that people are taking to this idea.
  23. So, I've been toying with this idea. I am going to be playing on both servers and probably would do this idea on both if I go through with it. I want to make a simple event to try and bring the community closer. One that I could start and semi run yet it wouldn't require tons and tons of dedication to keep going. Naturally I thought of a simple story circle or meet and greet.
  24. Wait wait wait wait wait, so you finally got around to reading the book? Hahaha, good to see you here as well! I was hoping I would get to interact with you sometime since I am terrible at messing about on forums and probably worse and just randomly talking to people! I am glad you came over here! The ranks are beginning to look quite good for this group.
