Just hanging out and having a good time not hurting anybody, then there's a confrontation with a stranger, based simply on what you look like and where you come from? Welcome to how racism works. This is the authentic experience for racism, with a layer of abstraction in that you are roleplaying / acting, and not experiencing it as a direct attack on you as a person. Now, roleplaying is a leisure-activity, so no, I don't think people should always express themselves in this sort of confrontational way, even if their characters "would". But if you have issues with your character being treated badly based on where they're from, I honestly think you should just stick with your FC / group. As an example, If someone's playing a Garlean, and others come up to them who have lost things to the Garlean war of conquest and get in their face: This should not be something that causes you major distress, and if it is, you probably shouldn't roleplay as a character with ties to those controversial things that people in the setting would see as friction-points. Same for Voidsent, Sin Eater, and Auspice RPers: These sorts of things have very clear connotations along with them. The common experience with a Voidsent often ends with fighting for your life and death. The common experience with a Buduga band in the steppes is violence, sometimes resulting in death, or other vile things. This is clearly not representative of ALL Buduga, but the reputation travels far, and that prejudice is real in the world. So when somebody has prejudice toward your character upon learning of their tribe or upon seeing their onyx scales and making myriad assumptions on which tribe they're in, know that it comes from a place of belivability: And when you are playing a character from that background, region, or group, then you should know that can happen sometimes.

Looking for a partner for some one one one or small group rp. Interested in something that'll start as a friendship between our characters and delves into romance and further if that's something you're interested in. As well as action, exploration, ect. Fine with doing a mix of RP both in game and over discord. Discord gives a little more freedom of the mind. Character Info: Name: Jinyo'to Ferawoah Alignment: Chaotic Good Race: Miqo'te (mixed) Orientation: Straight Height: 5'6 Job: Samurai (Ninjutsu influences) Likes: Katanas, music, haikus, meditating, strong sake, and delicious tea, shiny things. Dislikes: Garleans, those without honor, spiders, strong odors. Hobbies: Playing the shamisen, writing haikus, death rolling Character Bio: Jinyo’to was born into a bond between a keeper of the moon and sun. His parents finding one another left their homelands and found a home living in Othgard, though would soon find themselves in the mists of a Garlean invasion. Taking to the outskirts it was there they found some semblance of peace to begin to raise a family. The first brother Yozoyu’a with his twin soon following Jinyo’to, three years later came the third brother Ahma’li. The first and third brother maintained their mother’s traits looking more like keepers of the moon while Jin was the only to take after his father and his traits. Growing up they learned to hunt, how to fight, and how to hide. The twins on one of their young adventures found refugees of Doma. One a samurai the other a ninja, the children were each drawn to one. Jin the former, and Yozoyu the latter. Sneaking from home they would feed the refugees and in return they would be regaled with tales of Doma and as the brothers grew older they began to learn the way of bushido and ninjutsu. In their mid teens things changed for the worst, Ahma saw the strength of Garlameld and despised the squaller that he and his family lived simply living off the land. So he left to join as a willing conscript into the Garlean military and despite the two brothers both attacking him and being the youngest he almost with unnatural speed and might countered them leaving them unconscious and bloody in a forest, Ahma was not seen again. Going home to tell their parents, spending a day recovering and talking they would finally go see their masters. The signs of battle were apparent in the home that was built. Gunshots and scorches of fire marked the area and in the home were their masters dead with armored garleans corpses as well. The brothers knew who did this, and they promised one day to find their brother and bring him back into the fold or end him for the honor of their masters. Training their skills, when they came of age the alliance of Eorzea had arrived to their lands and were slowly winning the day with the help of this…Warrior of Light. Taking to the battlefield themselves they found on the day of The Ghimlyt Dark. With no sign of their brother after that day they decided to go their separate ways and find him for their honor and on their lives.

Hello there, I'm changing my main to a pureblood garlean. She's yet unnamed and basically has no backstory as of now. Yup, even the surname hasn't been decided and I'm willing to adopt someone else's. What I've thought of are: I want her to be a military or ex-military with a garlean gunblade. A warvet. Centuria (quo) or higher. May or may not have joined the following conflicts: The Invasion of Nagxia, The Invasion of Doma, The Invasion of Werlyt, The Invasion of Ala Mhigo, The Bozja Incident, Carteneau, everything that happened after 2.0 started. (edit: She was at the invasion of Doma) Mainly looking for connections with other garlean roleplayers (pureblood or not), anyone with a war drama-centered character will also work. Not open to ERP/romance. Willing to play on whatever timeline. Carrd (WIP): https://lucilla.carrd.co/

General Advice for Creating RP characters
NineCatte replied to NineCatte's topic in Character Workshop
Thanks for the advice! Mostly I'd want the Echo for the character to be able to face threats such as primals, though obviously with proper backup from other people as well. As for classes, I'm mostly wanting to either combine MCH and GNB or MCH and RPR, since the character is a former Garlean conscript. In this case, the character is a viera so they do have the time to devote themselves to such professions. MCH would really only be extensive firearms training and mechanical knowledge, rather than strictly knowing how to use Sky Steel equipment specifically. The only issue is, I think the Reaper combination on top of being a machinist would be highly unlikely and hard to justify, as from what I remember, it's mostly a long lost art. So I'd love to hear what you think about that. -
I have a question about watching cutscenes that I'm not apart of. I.E.: the first cutscenes with Garlean after you become the envoy. RP-wise, should we know this information, or skip it?

Greetings and salutations everyone! The name I go by on here is Void but feel free to call me V or my character name Vaeril! While I'm not particularly new to the RP scene, I am DEFINITELY new to MMORPG RPing, so I thought why not! A friend of mine gave me a small little taste of RPing on FFXIV and from what I saw I was hooked! For MMORPGs as a whole? I'm not new to the genre and played games like ESO and SWTOR in the past, but I'm basically completely new to FFXIV. I'm a little sprout :3 My main character here goes by Vaeril Cordelia a Viera-Garlean half-blood who was sired 22 years ago in the Kingdom of Dalmasca a few years after its initial occupation by the Garlean Empire. My homeworld is on Tonberry since that's where all of my friends are but naturally, I can do RPs on other Elemental Servers! Thank you everyone for reading and I hope to RP with some of y'all sometime ^^ -V

Hello, Maeroj, welcome to the website! Feelings of uncertainty, anxiety and doubt are understandable and quite normal when starting out. In fact, your experience is even shared by some who have been RPing for a long time. Are you able to RP more with the people you know irl? That can go a long way to helping iron out any anxiety as you learn more about RPing and exploring the various ways to approach RP events. There's nothing wrong with RPing a character who's unkind, but doing so can be very difficult since the natural response from another character is to simply interact with a more pleasant character. May I suggest developing a separate character with a friendlier disposition? A more inviting character should make it easier to establish lasting interactions and connections with other characters. When your confidence is built up, and you're comfortable with the flow of RP in general, you could revisit your present character. Something else to consider are your character's traits, strengths and goals. Having a solid understanding of who your character is and what they hope to achieve can help quite a lot when conversations come up. This could also help colour the reason for your character attending a given event. It's sort of like a drama class exercise. What is my character's motivation, what is my character's disposition and how do those influence their present circumstance? Here's an example. Let's say I'm RPing a lumberjack who's been inspired by the heroics of others to do his part in defending the realm. We'll call him Fred. Now, Fred can't just join the Scions of the Seventh Dawn and defend the world immediately, so we have a dream for him to work towards. What can help him get there? Being a local guard would help him earn some experience. So his short term goal is to join the Yellow Jackets. So right away we have a character who is decently strong, good with an axe, is very accomplished in a gathering profession and wants to gain experience in guard duties. When at an RP event these can serve as talking points, especially when interacting with a character who has a related background or goals. Working for the Yellow Jackets isn't his dream job but a means to realizing that dream. So if Fred strikes up a conversation with a character who works for a security Free Company he could apply for that instead of the Yellow Jackets. This would also open the door for plenty of RP opportunities in the future. Let's say that during a certain RP event Fred only meets up with characters who are interested in making fancy designer shoes, he could still ask people what they think about the Yellow Jackets. Does the average citizen have concerns about corruption among the Yellow Jackets? Or poor leadership? Does it take too long for them to show up at the scene of a crime? Fred could gather such feedback and either choose to get his guard duty experience elsewhere or vow to help improve the Yellow Jackets. By having a few ideas in mind for your character you can better aim their comments and thoughts when RPing. Speaking of thoughts, you can type out what your character is thinking without them saying it. This is useful when RPing a character who isn't very forthcoming or has something to hide. It allows us to share the story of our characters without the character giving themselves away. A Garlean spy, for example, will have thoughts about their mission, but won't actually admit to any of it. I apologize for the length of my reply but you posed some fair and universal concerns that many of us have had at some point. I know what it's like to feel discouraged or to get writer's block. I hope you find renewed inspiration for your character and RPing in general.

Vikohla = Adventurer fangirl and dorky mechanic who attempts to compensate her lack of aether manipulation with scientific concoctions and gizmos. Phane = Bombastic, eclectic supporting character from a Bollywood musical who literally weaponizes showbiz illusionism in her ceaseless bid for adoration and her insatiable appetite for mischief. Joribri = Basically a cliché super ninja like the old Shinobi and Ninja Gaiden games, with the Garlean Empire providing the mech fights, big city street battles and firearms that are somehow outclassed by swords.

Garlean Xth Imperial Legion Linkshell/Discord/Roleplay Group Who we Are The Xth Imperial Legion is a military roleplaying group based around the formations and story of the Garlean Empire and the life of a Legionnaire. We are a mainly Discord focused group that conducts roleplaying campaigns in game using our crossworld linkshell, this means there is no need to leave any FC's your currently in!. We also hold events at EU timezone (10:00 GMT/ 05:00 EST) are expect a reasonable attendance from new members Our members are mostly from Mateus, with players from other servers absolutely allowed to joined due to us not using an FC. with this though, we do expect all members to be a part of the discord as all planning and organisation takes place there, as well as announcements, the Linkshell is not mandatory to join but helps with events. ICly The Xth Imperial Legion can trace its origins back to the founding legions of the Republic, helping it to expand into the empire we have today. Within the newly formed Empire, the Xth was tasked with the exploration and conquering of Meracydia, with the legions nickname (Equestris) hailing from the centaur like race found within the lands, ones that they used to great effect as auxiliaries to bolster their forces within their initial incursions. The legion itself is rather accepting of other races, frequently hiring mercenaries to provide their strengths, with this view, they have become more accustomed to magic and has led to them having a higher trust in non Garlean races and an approach of befriending locals to earn their favours and supports, much to the chagrin of the other legions within Garlemald. Note: We are currently rebuilding after our Hiatus over Christmas, meaning a multitude of roles are currently open, these include: Legionnaire, Medicus', Technicians, NCO's, Officers. Campains/Events Campaigns are held every Friday by the DM for that night, taking it in turns with those that wish to DM to create an enjoyable experience for all involved as well as introducing new ideas and flavour to certain scenarios. Campaigns themselves will be based around events that happen in lore which pertain to the Garlean Empire, allowing us to live through the trials and tribulations of what the ordinary soldier may go through. Campaigns are not the only activities we get upto, throughout the week events ranging from simple military patrols to more casual camp life may happen, with stories of their own, each designed to offer interesting interactions within the group and to build stronger bonds among characters and members in the community. We may also conduct OOC events to help the community come closer and bond together. Uniforms/Ranks As a military based roleplaying group, we follow a dress code and rank heirarchy, with uniforms being mandatory to wear to official Xth Legion events. Joining Note: Uniforms must be purchased by you, you will be unable to attend events unless you have the proper attire if your interested in joining us, please visit the discord link below and apply through the "Applications" category. If you need help through any part of the process, please DM Valentina van Drusus on discord. Discord: https://discord.gg/Ve4Zqm8QTJ Carrd: https://xthimplegion.carrd.co/

balmung Male Viera LFRP -- Neutral Evil Aligned (Updated)
AquiziTC posted a topic in Making Connections
Well things certainly have changed since I originally posted this. Both in life and how Rhosyn has developed as a character. I had been wanting to tweak things about Red for awhile and while brainstorming I came across a song I really liked and I honestly thought would more realistically fit a lone traveler for thirty-something years. The short of it is: it's hard to survive without doing some bad things sometimes. And those things can change a person. Major changes: Alignment shift from chaotic good to neutral evil. Yes a very drastic change but one I think could be more fun to RP and seems reasonable to me with the background I imagine as fairly realistic. My own personal real life schedule; I'm working nights for the next couple months and as such an mostly around during degen vampire hours. I remain free at basically any time on weekends still. And I only work half days Th and F (home around 6 PM CDT). Ah but who is the bun, I hear you asking? Behold: Rhosyn Ysgarlad I've made his history quite vague compared to the original write-up as I kinda want the why of it all to be more of a mystery and RP discovered. But some things to note: Native Dalmascan, and Veena. More familiar with the northern regions of the nation as well as other Veena tribes, despite his living there being rather short. Red has traveled far and wide across Ilsabard and Othard as a Garlean "citizen." As well as brief forays into Hingashi and Thavnair. He is relatively new to Eorzea, but if roughly familiar with the broad strokes of the realm. High aether reserves. Very noticeable to those who are sensitive in the aether of others'. Nothing of it is out of sorts, and it's not super abnormal, but he's definitely quite the aether battery. Rare Info, ask me first: He learned Red Magic from a resistance cell in Ala Mhigo a few years before the liberation. Said cell was discovered and murdered by the Empire. How Red survived, or where he was at the time is unknown. But those from the area during that time might recognize him. If you've gotten this far and are interested, let me provide a writing sample. I have permission to share this, and I like to as I feel it's a very good scene. It is from the character that used to be -- before Rhosyn took his place. It's a fairly sad scene. Also I'm pretty sure I did this on my phone from bed late at night a few years ago. Writing/RP Sample Either leave a post here or a DM here or if you see me in game poke me there as well! If, alas, none of those work for you then my Discord is fine but I do prefer to touch base elsewhere first. Aquizit#4130 Thank you for taking the time in checking this out! Hope to hear from interested parties soon. -
Below is information on me, the player. Character information and so forth will be added later on. I. Basic Info Name: Saahs Details: 27, no gender any pronouns go Primary characters: Griffin Whittle (hyur), Nourah Castomir (elezen) Secondary characters: Felux Harbor (viera), Ren Kita (garlean(hyur)) Linkshells: n/a Primary RP linkshell: n/a II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Probably light-medium most of the time. I won't be on every day, and I will need breaks from the game and/or rping every now and then. There will likely be some rotation as which characters of mine are the Main, as well. Kind of like seasons. During these times I'm of course open to OOC conversation (unless I make clear otherwise). I am a forgetful creature though, I warn you now. Don't be nervous to reach out if you think I've forgotten something. Views on RP combat and injuries: Come at me bruv. I'm fine with rolls, no rolls, pre-determined victory or flyin' by the seat of our pants. I'm not about to allow like, permadeath, but I've had characters lose limbs, get spiritually mangled, one guy even took a rocket to the knee. Of course it's polite to give a heads-up before just throwing punches unannounced, show me the courtesy and I'll do the same. I don't like characters bursting into a giant blades-out spells-flying fight in the middle of a public rp venue. Time and place for that. Views on IC romance: I am weak for romance, but I'd prefer not to write such a relationship without the characters having had time to interact and actually show if they have a good dynamic romantically. If I'm writing someone in a relationship I don't want it to be "Cool... Now what?" I want it to be "Cool... Now then... how shall their love fare in the face of... THIS LATEST PLOT IDEA???" The relationship should add to the risk and suspense, all that. It's not an endgame. But I do find romance interesting to write out, especially between characters with Problems. I don't shy away from writing dark themes and I do not shy away from writing unhealthy relationships. Actually I think I'd... prefer that they have issues. 'Cos then guess what? Then they gotta solve their issues... and that means more roleplay. Erp I am not opposed to but it bores me to death as a regular occurrence. I need at least 75% of IC interactions to be... literally anything else. I don't do erp for the sole purpose of smut. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Essential. Even for characters in a relationship, they had to have gotten their through some other form of relationship first, and if one only writes romantic dynamics, how a character works in any other relation is left in the dust and never really develops. And every kind of relationship can reveal and build more onto your character's personality, their storyline-- people are affected most by other people. Friendship, family, mentorship, betrayal, confliction. I love all the flavours. Views on lore: I like to bend it like the elbow. Dig my little claws into its nooks and crannies n' see what I can fit where. Completely breaking it will make my brain 404, but I love seeing how other people work their own made up lore into that which is already established, and make what's canon work for them another way other than taking it at cookie-cutter face value. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Not sure I understand this one. They're cool. They function to let you do chats. There's different kinds and it is neat. ¯\_(._.)_/¯ Do you mean like, my opinion of their use IC? ... Go for it? Linkpearls are an in-universe thing aren't they? So. S-so. Linkshells. Real? I'm lost. Looking for: Rp buddies who like smaller groups/one-on-one rps and love even more to scheme. Griffin I'd actually like him to meet some people who are unfriendly towards him. Not only has he got a suspicious aura to him and commits petty crime on a daily basis, but he also looks exactly like a missing person. Someone could sniff out him and his troublemaking, or recognise him and know off the bat that's not the him they knew. I'd love for Nourah to one day mentor someone, maybe have some villain buddies, and somewhere down the line he needs to be thrown in jail. Break that ego a little bit. Not limited to just these, I'm open to all sorts of ideas and first IC meetings! III. Other Info Country: USA Timezone: CST Contact info: n/a

Hi there! So I have been interested in RP for awhile, and after doing my researches and homeworks for awhile, I finally went to an event first time, still not knowing whether it is something that I will find enjoyable or not. Turns out that I did - I think I really like it! Now that I know RP is something that I do enjoy, I am trying to find other people/groups that I may be able to regularly RP, and/or maybe develop a plot (I was hesitant before, as I was not sure if this was something I would like). I was specifically looking over the list of Free Companies, but found myself unable to press the apply button..... shyness, yes indeed I am very shy, but besides that, I have a question. I found that a majority of Free Companies seems to be centered around a specific theme, be it Ishgardian, Far East, Garlean, etcetera. As I am new to RP and character writing, although I have given much thoughts to the writing of my character, I am not sure how I would be able to figure out what kind of themes would be a good fit for my character. When I was imagining what I wanted to do as an RPer, I was thinking more of interacting with many different types of characters not limited to a specific faction, and it was with that in mind that I wrote my character. Is there any other FC/Discord/any other group with a more generic theme that would be open to accepting a budding new RPer? Or, would it be better for me to try to rewrite my character to fit in the themes? I would love to get some in-depth writing going and get to know the community and make RP/IC friends, but right now I am not sure which direction I should steer towards to facilitate that. I hope the post is clear, I am writing with a very tired mind right now... Anyways, I am excited to discover this new little thing that I may enjoy - hopefully I can continue!

Non-pureblood Garleans with third eye?
arcanum.zero replied to GutterSnipe's topic in Character Workshop
The lore on mixed couples in the setting is known: offspring resemble the mother, but you very occasionally get kids that blend traits, like Hilda Ware. I see no reason why the same wouldn't apply to half-Garleans. Third eyes would be extremely rare in cases where the mother was not Garlean, but could occur, explaining both Severa and the other half-Garlean NPCs. -
Severa is the only case of this we see in game. Other half Garlean NPC's (mentioned in spoiler) do not have any sort of third eye, so she is more likely a rarity if anything.

Non-pureblood Garleans with third eye?
Kasasari Kurasagi replied to GutterSnipe's topic in Character Workshop
On my understanding they usually have black, non-functional third eyes. That's taking from the canon NPC Severa who had a garlean dad and hyur mother. She's identical to a hyur but in her third eye. -
Eorzean Chronicles - Ch. 1: Welcome to Ul'dah
ScruffyGaymer posted a blog entry in Eorzean Chronicles
Hello! My name is Markus Duskridge. I am 33 years old and decided today to leave my homestead and begin a new adventure in the town of Ul'dah. I'm not sure what the world has in store for me, but I hope to become a grand mage and carve a name for myself in the history of this world. This journal will be a log of my adventures as I make my way across Eorzea. I hope you enjoy reading about my tales. Upon arrival in the grand sultanate, I made my way to the local tavern, The Quicksand, and met with Momodi, the proprietress and leader of the adventurer's guild. She accepted my registration as an adventurer and asked me to familiarize myself with the area so I don't get lost or swindled during my journey. I'm glad she looks out for new adventurers. She instructed me to attune myself to the central Aetheryte, scope out the Sapphire Exchange bazaar, and then visit the Thaumaturges' Guild to begin my training. made my way over to the aetheryte using an enchanted map that Momodi so graciously provided for me. Upon arrival, I noticed how diverse the population is in Ul'dah compared to my small village. There are so many different types of people and each with a different style and personality. It's rather refreshing, really. As I made my way around the town performing Momodi's tasks, many of the townsfolk called out to me and asked for help. I suppose I do look like a helpful fellow! Most of the tasks they gave me were rather menial, though as a budding adventurer I can't be too picky about what jobs are sent my way. Perhaps once I've established myself a bit more, I can be more...selective. This new land is so vibrant and the sights are something to see! While I was trying to find the Sapphire Exchange, I happened upon the entrance to the Ul'dahn Palace and boy was it beautiful! All this running around made me quite famished, so when I finally reached the Sapphire Exchange I sat down and enjoyed a nice Marmot Steak with some Orange Juice. The Garlean Garlic they used in this dish was so aromatic and flavorful! Even the shopping hub here in Ul'dah is something to see. All the different merchants peddling their wares and even the townsfolk were available to craft any items you needed right there on the spot! They even have a market board where you can browse sales tickets and purchase items from anywhere in the world. Having completed all of my other tasks, I made my way to the Thaumaturges' Guild and met with Yayake, the guild receptionist. Momodi had sent word of my arrival, so they were prepared to meet with me. At first, I felt a little overwhelmed, as Yayake told me my admission was dependent upon me reading all one hundred and eight volumes of the Fundamental Thaumaturgical Principles. However, this remark was in jest and she informed me that practice had been abolished and I would simply need to meet with the heads of the Thaumaturges' Guild. The five elders greeted me and told me I had potential to join their guild, but first I would need to complete a trial of slaying certain monsters outside of the city gates. They told me this was an initiation rite to understand the depths of the destructive powers of a Thaumaturge. Very well. Outside Ul'dah I put the Thaumaturges' advice to action and began slaying beasts as requested by the guild master. The battles were rather simple and nothing I wasn't used to living in a remote village, although I was reminded that I need to keep an eye on my mental fortitude if I plan on becoming a powerful mage. Focusing too much on one arcane element can be very draining, so it is vital to my survival that I get plenty of practice with each arcane specialty. The elemental gauge trinket that the guild provided me should prove useful in monitoring my elemental affinity during battle. I returned with my bounty to the guild hall and met with Cocobuki again, where I was formally indicted to the Thaumaturges' Guild. He gave me a notebook called a Hunting Log and told me that the creatures detailed within would help me hone my skills as a Thaumaturge and improve my ability to manipulate the arcane energies. I was instructed to return to him once I had filled out some of the hunting log. With all of my work at the guild completed for now, I made my way back to the Quicksand and asked Momodi if there were anymore jobs available. She told me I have already begun to make a name for myself and a man by the name of Papashan wants to speak to me at the Dispatch Yard in central Thanalan. I made my way to the Dispatch Yard and met with Papashan. He's was a rather kind old man. During our discussion, he informed me of all the work that has gone into restoring the nation since the calamity five years ago and all the work that is still needed. I don't remember much of the calamity, which seems to be the case for most people. From what I've heard, it was such a devastating event worldwide that there was mass amnesia and very few people, if any at all, have any kind of concrete idea of the events that happened on that fateful day. Night fell as Papashan and I were speaking, so he graciously handed me a bedroll and unlocked one of the Dispatch Yard's storage rooms for me to take shelter for the night. He has asked me to deliver some rations to his sentries in the morning, so I shall do so. In the meantime, I think I deserve a good night's sleep. As my consciousness drifted away from me, I thought about how my new adventure has started. I am excited, yet nervous, to see what is in my horizon.-

Hey all! First post here; I was researching some stuff for a new character I'm building, and it brought me to this forum. I'm building a character that will be a half-lalafell, half-Garlean. (dark implications, I realize.) When trying to think of features I could give them, I was toying around with the idea of giving them the Third Eye, despite not being a pure-blood. Batting that idea around for awhile, I came up with some possibilities, like maybe the eye is there but malformed, smaller than usual, etc? He'd take to covering it with one of the forehead gems you often see dunesfolk with. That's all I have of his lore at present, and was planning to go from there. I realize this is breaking proper lore to begin with, but I'm trying to think of a way to make it work without it being TOO out there, if that makes sense. I guess in the end, someone can make an OC anything they want, but I was curious about getting some feedback on the idea! (Also please have mercy on me if this is a dumb idea, I've only been playing for 7 months and consistent lore in this game is hard to come by if you don't own the encyclopedias)

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my post. As the title says, I am looking for some Rp for my Garlean character Liocyon. I'm pretty open to most storylines from light-hearted to gritty. OOC I am pretty easy going, I feel I can get along with most people so please don't be afraid to talk to me Now! onto my character! Liocyon Aurelius: Age: 19 Sex: Male Race: Garlean Pureblood Likes: Magitek, Medicine, Cooking and Acting Despite his feminine appearance, Lio is a male and considers himself male. An engineer at heart, Lio spent the majority of his life cooped up in his Families estate due to his father's insistence and as such was very naïve when he ran away and defected to Eorzea. Since leaving the Empire he has grown as a person and finds the actions of his country to be monstrous but finding himself unable to fight against his own countrymen. He turned instead to Magitek as a means to provide some effort to the War but life took him in a different direction and instead he got caught up in the life of an Actor while also doing what he can to aid the people of Eorzea. Lio is a soft hearted man and hates to see anyone suffer and uses his medical knowledge to help who he can regardless of their nationality or lack of payment. This soft hearted nature has also made him a hopeless romantic and easily flustered or embarrassed when having his appearance complimented. These days he can be found people watching at the Quicksand if he is not off training or building something in his workshop. What I am looking for: Long term Rp Romance Friendship Romance: I do not have any limits on Race so please do not be afraid to ask me Lio is Pansexual so he's pretty open to anyone who builds that sort of connection with him. That being said, Highlander and Roe girls are a plus lol If you would like more detailed information or are interested in meeting Lio, you can find me in game or on Discord at Moriarty#0901

Could use help with a Garlean defector character
Faye replied to Pupprika's topic in Character Workshop
Garleans can use all sorts of weaponry and with your character able to use aether, anything is a possibility. If you want to give your character some Garlean flare, you could always pick the class of your choice and give them a Magitek weapon that might have extra utilities. (For example, my pureblood Garlean character is a Warrior; he uses a Magitek gun-axe.) As for Machinist, I know you mentioned you like to interweave your gameplay and role-play, but it doesn't necessarily have to be 1:1. If you want to play a Machinist, if the important part is that your character uses a gun, they could always just be a regular marksman or sniper and not strictly a Machinist in specific.- 3 replies

Could use help with a Garlean defector character
Aedan Marceaux replied to Pupprika's topic in Character Workshop
Garleans have more than just guns and "gunswords" at their disposal. Not everyone, especially those conscripted, use, much less know a lot about, the high end machinations of the empire. So, really, just about any weapon/class/job (within reason) would work, including magic casters since you're playing a conscript. Keep in mind, this also means that your character can be just about any of the races, as well, and doesn't have to be Garlean (the race). So, play what you want to play, really, as just about any of the weapon types would work for a Garlean conscript.- 3 replies

Heya! Long time FFXIV player and first time poster. Came across this forum while searching for resources and thought this would be a better place to ask RP related questions than the subreddit. Anyways! I haven't gotten into RP yet as I'm still building my character. She is a conscript from one of the first territories on Ilsabard to be conquered and who obtained citizenship through her military service and accomplishments before defecting to Eorzea. Like Cid and Jenomis she is a bit of an idealist who loves her country but does not agree with actions of the government. She reasoned that she could do more good outside of the Empire, but is resolved to eventually return to help change the Empire for the better. Bit of a tangent there, but that's the gist of the character. I'm one of those people that likes to tie their in-game class / job to their character, and that's where I'm struggling. The obvious choices are Gunbreaker and Machinist. I'm not too big on tanking and I'm hesitant to try RPing as a Machinist as that would involve trying to play as a character who's much more intelligent than I am IRL, so not really sure how to go about that. I should note that she isn't of the Garlean race, so aether use is no issue. Any advice or suggestions are welcome. :3

Ehem, Hi, it's almost 1 am and I wanna go to bed, so I'm just gonna use the template and tell you all a bit about myself. MMORPG background: I'm in my 20, and to be honest I don't have tons of MMO experience and it's by no means my favorite Genre. I do have enough to know what I'm doing. The MMOs I've played are Aura Kingdom, BDO, ESO, Wizard 101, Tera, Blade and Soul, and the new Swords of Legend. RP experience: This is where I have experience, 11 years of roleplay experience, from Geek Chat (later renamed Geeking before shut down) to kik, Skype, Facebook, Twitter, Amino, Reddit, Discord. Recently I've been going to the RP venues that do exist in Primal and I'm getting the hang of Roleplaying in game. Character ideas/info: Hideaki Nakanishi, I have almost 5 pages written for his backstory because I'm a weirdo and like writing, but the short version is, He was born in 1555, Bastard son of a member of the Bakufu, mother was a tailor by day, songstress by night. Gets into trouble with Garlean Dignitaries at the age of 5, saved by a Samurai. 'Aki' (his nickname) becomes obsessed with the Samurai and begins searching for him by frequenting the Sekiseigumi Barracks. The Samurai, named Ryuka, takes Aki as his student a few years later, and due to his parentage issues and bastard son status is taken to Eorzea for his training. Aki trains across Eorzea for 7 years and forced to always wear a hood since Au Ra are still unknown in this area. Gets shot in the chest by a Garlean while in the Shroud, nearly dies, and is saved by the Conjurers Guild. In return for saving his life, Aki and his master join the Twin Adder just in time for Carteneau. Aki doesn't fight there due to having recently taken a bullet to the chest, Master does, returns changed. Gives Aki his sword and tells him to remain in Eorzea and grow. Ryuka returns to Kugane and Aki stays with the Twin Adder. During current point in the story, he's a Captain with the Twin Adder who's duties involved Internal and External Investigations of Dungeons, as well as Public Relations, acting as a dignitary to the other Grand Companies or foreign entities like the Bozjan Resistance. How did you learn about the coalition?: Literally googled how to spell Sui-No-Sato, link popped up bringing me to the old forums. What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? (e.g. Light, medium, or heavy): Probably Medium, since I'm currently learning high-end content, but still would like to Roleplay often. Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc.): My job is easy and gives me a bit of freedom, so I'm available to RP almost all hours of the day. Um, I'm an open book with my life so if you're curious feel free to ask me any questions.

Heya guys, my name is Kay, and please allow me to tl;dr about myself! MMORPG background: I used to play WoW! For a little while. I was only on for two expansions, Cataclysm and Pandaria but I had fun getting into shenanigans with my RP buddies on Wyrmrest Accord. RP experience Uhhh… Lemme do the math. T-twenty? Twenty years I’ve been at this pretending hobby? Spread out across a bunch of platforms, mainly Livejournal and Dreamwidth and a smattering of message boards and MMO experience, with a smidge of Discord. Character ideas/info I have just the one character right now! Her name is Rune, and she is my special snowflake and I like her a bunch. She’s an amnesiac Au Ra Arcanist (say that three times fast!) and an exile/runaway from Garlean, looking to find her place in the world and to better understand herself and her abilities. Why yes, Terra IS in fact one of my favorite FF characters, whatever gave that away? Been having a lot of fun with her so far, as OOCly and ICly I get to learn the ropes of the lore and the game. I’ve got a character journal for her set up on Dreamwidth, too! Over here: https://rune-explorer.dreamwidth.org/355.html How did you learn about the coalition? I waited until the witching hour, and the perfect alignment of the stars, called upon the hidden forces of the internet to guide my hand, and… Googled FF14 RP. What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? (e.g. Light, medium, or heavy) Medium. A little goofy at times with my emoting, as the writing above probably shows. But ready to do the dramatic stuff as well! I also learned that I really love going out into the world to RP and have adventures. Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc.) Let’s see: I write nerdy fanfic but I’m too embarrassed to link my account. I draw nerdy art too, which I’m a little more comfortable about sharing. My favorite Final Fantasy games are 6, 7, 8, and 10. 9 is a game I respect more than love, but still think it’s cool. I’m also playing on the FF14 demo right now instead of the full game, just getting a feel for it right now. And I have a standard poodle IRL! He is a good boy; the bestest boy in fact.
