As an overview - my decision, head-cannon wise is that there isn't an actual "Sudden" appearance of Au Ra, but rather they've been migrating in since Doma was obliterated, but for the most part have been out-of-sight.

By the time Heavensward hits and the influx of Au Ra characters show up OOC, ICly they've been showing for quite a while and are just being more 'noticed' as a sizable number has shown up by this time, especially among adventurers.

These are my top four Characters' reactions.

 "So these... are my people?"

Lin has lived her entire life as a Hyur, never knowing her true origins as an Auri. Transmorgified at a very young age by powerful magic. There is an event in which a powerful individual forcefully reverses the spell, causing Lin to face her clouded past. This happens right as the Au Ra began to show up among adventurers in force. So Lin is a fish-out-of-water among a race that is hers, but she's never known.

"So more have arrived... what resources do we have for them?"

A former Garlean Military tactician who's last remaining networks are beginning to die out. Eric internally would feel a measure of sympathy for the people whom were crushed under the heel of a nation he once thought he could change for the better. He may work what contacts he has to assist the relief effort, and his normally cold outward demeanor would likely be a slight measure softer when dealing with them.

"Hey welcome! Y'good at holdin' yer liquor?"

Hyrist, being a former member of the Garlean Military, often does not let on his past. For him, his past is behind him and his future right in front. The Garlean Empire now gone to a level of extremes that have alienated his more open ideals, he feels that the Doman Auri and he in particular have something to share in which they no longer have a country to return to.

He would be his normal outgoing self towards them... which usually means sexual humor, puns, and lots of Alcohol shared.

"Oooh! *Knocks on a horn* Hellooo~ Where are your ears? Where are you from? ... Oh.. mrowl... sorry!"

Tas's childlike innocents shines through. She's never seen an Auri before so she will be abundant with blatant questions that come from complete ignorance of contextual awareness - at least until she touches one of their clothes.

This honestly makes the most sense. And it is something I agree with and will likely be going with as well.

C'sien will be very curious but a bit hesitant and will wonder if they're void sent of some sort. However she wouldn't treat them badly. She as an adventurer didn't like how Gridanians treated her as an outsider, nor did she like how refugees are treated in Uldah. She's a kind person and dislikes that sort of stuff.

If she saw someone abusing or treating an au ra wrongly she'd step in.

As for my au ra, Dusk has been traveling longer than things blowing up in Othard. She's likely used to racism and she hides herself in heavy armor.

As someone who's (probably) making the switch to Xaela, she'll be amused by the reactions to her, considering she's been back and forth from Eorzea to Othard multiple times over the past few years. About time she can let her hood down and un-tape her tail from her blasted leg.

Armi is going to stare. Stare all the time. Stare a lot. And ask stupid questions.

"So if you're from Africa, why are you white?" type questions.

Haha! YES! I could completely see Nako behaving like this once the initial trepidation wore off.

Siha would be curious and maybe just a bit wary of them at first, but overall I think sympathetic to them losing their home as that's all she'd really know from the beginning. That's about all I can offer without her having met one.

Just purely based on appearance, L'yhta would be rather curious about who and what they are, where they came from, how they got to be how they are, etc. Naturally, she's likely to get more intrigued once she hears some origin stories and will start doing her own independent research. Where that goes from there depends a lot on the lore I assume we'll get in 3.0.

Somehow, Kell would find the gay one and end up sleeping with him. It's what happened with Miqo'te after all.

He'd probably be friendly - in a sense, EVERYONE ON EORZEA is weird as fuck to him and it's in his nature to not treat anything that has speech badly unless it treats him bad first. He'd get along well with beast tribes so why not Auri?

Cwinuwil would watch them from the shadows. Very, very big shadows. Do they come from the continent that birthed the art he studies? Sure.

That makes them doubly suspicious.

It all depends on what's the reaction for Au Ra characters in the game - if they're accepted, she'll mistrust them. If they're not, she'll welcome them as a giant "fuck you" to Gridania.

Sasati is still under construction, so... yeah, hard to know.

It would probably be an educational opportunity for Ryanti. Having never been outside of Eorzea and rather eager to learn about things beyond those borders, he would be outright curious, and would probably spend some time observing Au Ra before approaching them.

He'd be rather studious about it. Maybe would ask a ton of questions to an Au Ra open-minded enough to answer them. If they exist.

Vetiver's limited experience with the Au Ri people have been positive; beautiful and mysterious, appreciative of their unique qualities. Not surprising from the Keeper that was bullied as a child for her seemingly odd appearance and cultural background.

Foxglove? Ambivalent being a Raen herself. Nice to know she's not exactly alone, but that's about it.

Sophia's seen them. It would still bother her, seeing a massive influx of them suddenly in Eorzea. It would mean the Empire hasn't stabilized their holdings in Othard and Ilsabard (assuming there's Au Ra there too).

Lorelei would probably be wary, then think they're cool looking, once she figures out they're just a race of people.

Mikh'a met one already and his reaction was along the lines of "2904832904832jfklsdnafsdaocndasrueowqpauriedosafhjsdanc /panic"

But then he calmed down. And then he tried to heal him because he was hurt.

And then he got mad because the guy felt the need to pick him up and walk off with him like he was some kind of midget. ( Because he is. )

And now he's fascinated and wants to poke at them.
