Will be posting more screenshots of a few demos, with permission from their respective characters' owners. Keep in mind that I probably spent no more than an hour on each of these. Minimum effort, did not tweak most presets very much if at all, etc.

I was so close to not getting absorbed into the void that is another character creator. Damn you, Melkire! -shakes fist while downloading-

I have some pretty significant reservations about this title. To put it frankly, I've been burned by Korean MMO's too many times to take this at face value and I'm immune to the 'pretty-face' syndrome of the graphics because I know that without proper optimization you'll never be able to load everything and everyone you need up anyway regardless of how powerful your box at home is. ((See: Aion, GW2 - WvW on launch Oh God))

The hilarious $100 pre-order is also not helping. Yes, I see the $30 one but it's also worth noting that this game is free to play in other areas of the world. With a price tag of $100 I'd expect a figurine or an art book or....something. But nah, all digital content as far as I can tell from their website.

Also the gender locked class thing is pretty damn lame. Was lame in Diablo 3 even though they had precedence and it's lame here.

I'm excited for the housing though I'm wondering what that will be like. This might be a really fun game to RP in while the gameplay falls flat.

Gonna install and play around with chargen. Maybe I'll like it enough to play. Not sure.

Oh my god I spent so much time creating characters in this.

I was pretty bummed you couldn't get an elderly woman mage, so I decided to revolt against the system.

Thus, here is Margaret

I also made an actual character if I do decide to buy the game. I tried to recreate Lloyd to an extent, but could for the love of god, not find brown hair or eyes.

Brown hair's not particularly difficult. For Warriors, it's the bottom-left most color. Punch up the dye and the area to high and bring down the shine and voila, brown.

Brown eyes are trickier, because you have to manipulate a variety of colors across pupil, iris, and lens to get them down.

I'm not sure why there isn't a full suite of browns for hair, or why there isn't a default color for brown eyes, but sometimes you get wonky stuff like this in modeling software. Someone made a somewhat-valid complaint about hair the other day: that the rigging for some of the shorter hairstyles is incomplete and also doesn't yield a lot of control over the hairstyle itself. To which I have to say... limitations. BDO doesn't give players a true modeling software suite: all the hairstyles, no matter how extensively we can customize theme, are essentially assets that have been rigged beforehand by the developers. Curly short-haired cuts, for instance, aren't going to come with as much freedom to manipulate as, say, shoulder-length hair.

Mind you, that's no excuse for colors, and CERTAINLY no excuse for the lack of a proper color wheel. But...

*points at his first post in this thread*

...it's workable.

Also, reminder: there are seven or so "weather" (read: lighting) backdrops to play with. Hair and skin colors can look radically different under different lighting, so remember to test them out every once in a while.

So, I just spent hours fixing up a replica of Neon Hitch, and my internet pooped out and I lost all of it.

So here, have my final draft of Rorgheron, the studly giant:

Hey! Where'd you get that body from?

I downloaded this hell of a character creator. So many potential man hours have been lost to it. Hours whittled away tweaking and perfecting each and every detail I can find. I will not be getting them back. I do not want them  back.

In the end the design I settled with is a Sorceress. I'm pretty happy with the result.

No freckles makes me sad.

Freckles are under the "Makeup" section, similar to XIV. They're on my character, if you want a preview of what they look like.

I checked again under Makeup and every other option to try and give BD-Chachan freckled. I... I think they're girls only. Boys apparently don't have freckles.

We only get SCARS!

*grabs leatherworkers' awl* I am gonna make FRECKLESCARS, by the Twelve!!!

All right, too much coffee.

... Actually. Speaking of, does anyone else think the default Sorcerer looks suspiciously like Yennefer!?

... now that you mention it. She really does. Enough I won't be able to unsee it now. And yeah, Eastern games due tend to emphasis "dainty" and "sweet" attributes over sultry. Final Fantasy oddly breaks the mold a little because they have an odd love of Western appearances.

That said, I really do like how Odette turned out. Even if she isn't exactly as you envisioned. ^^
