That option would be very welcome, and cannot ever exist because it would end the story in moments!

Iceheart didn't do anything wrong, though. Her people are the opponent in a political war and she's being targeted specifically because of what she represents. Just outright icing her (teehee) would be a solution, sure, but when you just shove people into TVs without looking closer you never find out who the real killer is, or why.

Ah, and SE reminds me why I quit TOR, and how a game can be when the dev team actually adds real content updates on a fair schedule.

More Moenbryda.... mmmm. The only reason for me to care about the Scions anymore. Too bad she's hung up on stringy Elezen jerky.

Bolded because it made me laugh loudly before silently and angrily agreeing.

But it does end up with a bunch of ragtag kids being able to summon mythological creatures after confronting the darker side of themselves.

Also a talking bear suit.

So many dungeons...whoa.  I'm finally looking forward to them all!  Except World of Darkness, since I haven't done any of the Coils and nobody wants a noob tanker.

Oh, tanking a Crystal Tower instance isn't that bad, and certainly doesn't require Coil experience. :) If they design it like Syrcus, tanking is pretty straightforward once you know what's going to happen.

I can verify this! I managed to take Chachan in basically as soon as he had the iLevel for ST and he was basically fine off-tanking. Remember, it's an Alliance, so there's two other tanks that can potentially take up the MT position if you're not comfortable doing it.

And, since this is gonna be new and people are gonna wants the kills and the gear, you can bet the higher geared tanks will probably be stopping by.

Oh! Oh this is a CT step!! Derpsauce!

I've tanked the Labyrinth, looking to do ST first-time later...damn! I could get to see giant green-faced laser lady!

...provided I have the right iLevel before Heavansward drops. xD

Yes, but the rabbit hole turns into an abyss. Let's be honest - we're playing characters who walked up to primals and punched them in the face - literally, for those of us playing Monks. Frankly, we didn't need Ishgard's permission for anything. Here's how it could have been in the MSQ:

Holy See: "Your airship's in the Stone Vigil. But we're not letting you in there."

PC: "I pick my teeth with Garuda's pinions, keep Titan's little toe as a pet rock, use Ifrit's junk to light my barbecue grill, and I posed by Svara's twitching corpse. I'd like to see you snow... excuse me, sneaux bunnies stop me."

*marches into Stone Vigil. Kills Dragon. Flies off in Enterprise. Drops Ishgebind's head into the Camp Dragonhead courtyard in a flyby*

Yes, as I said, I am spoiled.

BONUS: Ishgard in two pictures:

You might manage it when it comes out on the update! I always find my iLevel skyrockets once ST is open to me. It drops i100 gear, and the sand and oils let you upgrade your soldiery-purchased gear up 10 points! And since you'll be the only tank in your group in the Alliance, any tank gear will straight up be yours.

Just gotta get lucky on those drops (and on the rolls for those sands and oils!).

Goddamn. Maybe there's no hardcore content in the patch next week, but there is a BOATLOAD of content regardless.

Thoughts and reactions:

  • OH SHIT WARRIOR OF LIGHT GOT ONE-SHOT.

  • Ascians, yesssssss. This game needs more creep factor.

  • Hydaelyn confirmed for having gone silent.

  • BLADE OF LIGHT.

  • Midgardsormr-sama, I love you, you beautiful beast, you. ;w;

  • Everyone had better be ready to bumrush MSQ to re-unlock Expert Roulette for those poetic bonuses.

  • That tank gear the PLD is wearing during WP HM is seeeeexyyyyy. That's not pre-existing gear, right? It looks new. Maybe the new tank drops from the new dungeons?

  • WP HM looks meh.

  • GOAT. MOUNTED DULLAHAN. GIANT MONKEY BOSS. DOUBLE DEMON WALL. I don't recognize the final boss though... AK HM looks amazing.

  • LOL cactuar, LOL Sabotender in a Suit. Liking Gold Saucer--- OH SHIT CHOCOBO RACING  HNNNNGGGGGG.

  • Triple Triad. WARNING, DO NOT PURSUE LU BU BADERON. That bastard lives in a city of pirates, thieves, and cheats. He probably knows all the tricks of the trade. (hue)

  • Godbert is as amazing as ever. ENKIDUUUUU~~~

  • [ominous latin chanting] Odin, Odin, Odin, Odin, Odin... [/ominous latin chanting]

  • World of Darkness. Yes. Good. Visually stunning. Love all the callbacks. Some of the new mechanics look like they could be fun.

  • YES, SCIONS VS. BLADES. Yda gets to show off why pugilists are badass again. Teledji doesn't seem the sort to rush into a coup like this, so I'm guessing he'll have to advance his timetable as a desperate response to Nanamo's inevitable declaration of intent.

  • OH SHIT, NIDHOGG. OH FFFFFUUUUUUUUU--

For those who don't know, the World of Darkness theme is a remake of the "Dark World/Crystal" theme from Final Fantasy 3:

The Labyrinth of the Ancients was the Crystal Cave theme:

Syrcus Tower was the Crystal Tower theme itself (also the only dungeon in the CT series that is actually a Crystal Tower, lol):

Ok from a purely ooc observation, it looks fun. I've been catching up as I finished my crafting push last week. Running the HM dungeons, CT, dipping my toe in Coil. So this stuff looks great, harder, but not to hard. And as a long time FF fan, World of Darkness.... yes please.

As for the story I'm interested in the Ul'dah side, dont think that i am not, but I'm more curious as to how it will effect Flame/Blade/Sworn rpers. Will we get a situation like the early missions where the Blade unit looked bad but it was proven just to be bad apples after which putting the lala in charge made all the difference in Black Brush? Will RPers have to stop painting every Blade as corrupt? Or will it only make that stereotype worse? Obviously the Scion's are kicking Blade ass, but will this story sort of clean house for the Brass Blades?

As for everything else, either Erik (Eorzean) or Erik (real life) is going to have a gambling problem. Because those mini games and the card game really caught my eye. I wanna play Triple Triad like right now.

P.S. That armor the PLD is wearing like 2:30-3:00 minutes into the vid, I think its new, and I love it, a bit ornate, but also simple. Hope there is a good helm in the set.

I never played much Triple Triad in FF8. (Then again, I didn't play a ton of FF8 anyway. Maybe the only FF I've only played all the way through once.)

Tetra Master, on the other hand! I saw that sidequest through to the end on FFIX, and played it online when I still played FF11. That game had a lot of rage-quitters. I still have a FFIX save I fire up to play Tetra Master against the computer every now and then to pass some quick time.

Has it been mentioned whether or not we'll be able to play TT against other players?

Lots of awesome stuff...sure the msq stuff would make more sense if I was further along xD (really need to catch up on that quick for rp reasons >n<;; ) but for now I'm excited about the casino (dapper cactuar!!!) and the chocobo racing/breeding O^O

Also can't wait to start getting more into that HM stuff....I've slowly started to run a few things HM already out and it's been pretty fun already :D(

T_T Nothing for casuals until 2.51 and Manderville Saucer...

I was hoping for some new changeposes >_<

World of Darkness, MSQ, and new dungeons are all casual.

In fact there is no hardcore content in 2.5 at all.

Well then, I don't know what word to use for players who, for all kinds of reasons, do not go into dungeons or do MSQ. I meant stuff that did not really require progress, I guess? Town gear, emotes, poses, character creation options and the like.

For reasons that I will not entail (mostly it's a health issue/personal problem of mine, but also involves my RP characters) I currently cannot activate quests above level 28 yet (or obtain gear that would allow me to partake to these newest things without being killed in one shot), so this stuff is kind of out of reach for me at this point. I was hoping for things that did not require progress and gave RP options. But oh well, maybe they're there and just not in the trailer ^^;

At that point what you are asking for is content for people who don't play the game really.

There probably is new little things they are not showing, it usually seems to be the case with the patch trailers.

Also! Reach out to us kind RPC folk! I've been recently of the mind to help people who need a story dungeon run or two (Instance battles and questing in general I probably can't help with but maybe you can get through those well enough anyway!) -- because I know some circumstances disallow them from doing it on their own. If there's anyone who shows interest in helping people like that, poke them!

Since no one posted it, here's the original Japanese trailer. I refuse to believe I'm the only one playing this game with its original voices!

I was hoping for the trailer to show more fluff content like new outfits and hairstyles, but at least we could see Gold Saucer! What made me the most excited was Yugiri. I need Au Ras in my life ;_;

Yeah, that's pretty much it. I was looking for small, RP friendly things. Like an "IC" status to search for active roleplayers (like Looking for Meld status, Busy status etc), or changeposes for mounts (I'd love to sidesaddle when wearing robes, and I almost always wear robes), or new mounts, or new, non pokemon-esque minions (thinking of Fable 2 & 3 Dog), or that they'd make facial expression permanent, give us backpacks to display with a toggle command (similar to /legacymark), and a lot many other small things I did poke for on the official forums.

Thanks a lot! Yes, I've had friends offer their help before, but as of now it's not really a matter of needing help, as much as a situation of "I just can't". There's many factors, including my role of main Pacekeeper in our RP LS as well as, again, issues that lean more towards my personal mind and psyche, which I've mentioned here and there but feel would derail this thread to explain in full here.

Anyways, I am excited for this new content as much as anyone else, so don't take my posts as though I'm thinking it's bad or that SE should have done something else instead of this. I think it's great and will look forward to when I will get there myself. I just am hoping to see something for those like me (or if you want, for very new lowbie players, cause I feel they're really in no different situation as myself, even if for a complete separate reason (They just started! Can't unlock that stuff yet.)). Would love some stuff not locked behind a Lv50 wall or a mountain of gil (looking at you, lv1 craftable gear...!) :frustrated:

I'm pretty excited. There's a lot of great stuff due to be added over the next few months and then not long afterwards we'll be able to sink our teeth into a new expansion. Other MMO development teams really need to start taking notes since FFXIV is currently blowing everything else out of the water when it comes to meaningful and consistently timed content patches.
