Cynel1 Posted February 23, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 23, 2015 With Gold saucer coming up tomorrow do you think its a Good spot to RP? Link to comment
ProvaDiServo Posted February 23, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 23, 2015 It may be a bit packed with everybody clamoring to it RPers or no, but I don't see why it can't be. I'd like to know how Law enforcement RP will go down there. Link to comment
Val Posted February 23, 2015 Share #3 Posted February 23, 2015 I think it ultimately depends on how they instance it off, or if they do. If they don't? I expect a ton of trolls and way too much lag to facilitate decent, open RP unless done in party. If they do instance it off, I think we as a community need to choose a good ward and try to stick to it for open RP stuff. ..If SE is smart, they'll do it the same way they did housing. Telluride Posted February 23, 2015 Share #4 Posted February 23, 2015 ..If SE is smart, they'll do it the same way they did housing. I'll take, "Things I Never Expected To Read On The RPC" for 5000, Alex. I get what you mean -instancing and such, but I hope SE handles the Gold Saucer a HELL of a lot better than they have handled housing in general.... I'm hoping for some good table space in the casino. Link to comment
Maril Posted February 23, 2015 Share #5 Posted February 23, 2015 If it gets too crowded, probably not honestly. I would imagine it might become a place where people idle a lot, they did straight up say some games are good for playing whilst waiting for duty finder etc. Might ease the load in Mor Dhona a bit, I guess. If people can live with the trolls, and it's at a level such as the quicksand where the two worlds seem to co-exist pretty well, then maybe when the initial interest surge has died down it'd be possible to RP there. Cynel1 Posted February 24, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted February 24, 2015 well i was Going to RP there My character would have time off from the immortal Flames and Sultansworm. Link to comment

I'm hoping for some good table space in the casino. To be fair, they did handle housing atrociously. I just mean that they have different wards/instances/floors of the casino. Say the casino has 10 floors for the population to spread themselves out over, and the RPC chooses something like Floor 7 or whatever to hang around and RP on. That way, it isn't as crowded and people can maybe get some RP in. Other than that, no. I expect it to be way too crowded and way too trollish for people to get any respectable RP done. Dravus Posted February 24, 2015 Share #8 Posted February 24, 2015 I plan to role-play there from time to time but that will likely be when the initial chaos dies down. It also depends on how busy it is - if it's like Revenant's Toll it might be a frustrating experience. Link to comment

E'irawen Posted February 24, 2015 Share #11 Posted February 24, 2015 With the patch live now, I've actually already seen a couple of people/groups RPing a bit in open chat. I haven't really seen any griefing for it, either. However, it's really, really crowded right now, being patch day and all. I imagine it'll thin out just a bit later on. Link to comment
Dravus Posted February 24, 2015 Share #12 Posted February 24, 2015 I've seen a few people role-playing as well and I've said in other posters it's usually role-players themselves that cause trouble for each other more often than outsiders. The vast majority of other players realise that role-play is a thing that happens on Balmung nor do they care to interrupt it if they see it. Link to comment
Steel Wolf Posted February 24, 2015 Share #13 Posted February 24, 2015 As was suggested in a thread here, I plan on arriving to the Gold Saucer entirely IC...though walking around from place to place might be a bit dodgy when doing the "quests" to open the place up. It will be a fight between my want to immerse myself entirely and my want to just get all the things and THEN play. Also, the top Steel will be wearing will have an effect on whether I walk or run, a shirt that I lovingly refer to as "The Physics Halter Top" >.> Link to comment
Cliodhna Eoghan Posted February 24, 2015 Share #14 Posted February 24, 2015 i ain't even gonna bother going there till it dies down a little....well that and i gotta get my upgrades settled first. yep! i'm finally getting my copy of ce and a ps4!!! can't wait to see everyone i've been running by. buuut on a side note; erik went there after the update (in a dapper suite of course) and i got to watch him run around doing stuff....yeah...totally gonna be playing with the water jet thingie that sends you upstairs until security escorts me out. so if you see me just on an neverending loop with that thing; safe to assume i'm ooc... >.>;;;; Link to comment

LiveVoltage Posted February 24, 2015 Share #16 Posted February 24, 2015 I dont think there is any real law enforcment in the Gold Saucer. That or its privatized. At least from what I saw, it seems that adventurers are their own best police there. Link to comment

DeletedUser Posted February 25, 2015 Share #22 Posted February 25, 2015 Well, even if we stick out like a sore thumb, my FC plans to have an IC visit of the Saucer soon. All that glitz, glamour and excitement is just too good to pass up! Plus big crowds are great for pickpocketing... Link to comment
ChewableMorphine Posted February 25, 2015 Share #23 Posted February 25, 2015 Flynt came in with silver gloves and boots, they came out gold. Thus continues the legend of Flynt Reddard: Agent of Pandemonium. ICly Flynt's just practically living there now. It's his favorite place in the history of ever. Link to comment

Seriphyn Posted February 25, 2015 Share #25 Posted February 25, 2015 Holy crap it's like the perfect place for RP. It's like the Citadel, the Deep Space 9, the Babylon 5 of FFXIV...you have NPCs from all three city-states, and even though it's Ul'dahn, it definitely has a cosmopolitan feel. There are bars and seating and all sorts! There needs to be intrigue RP here, it's ideal for that! Link to comment
