With Gold saucer coming up tomorrow do you think its a Good spot to RP?

It may be a bit packed with everybody clamoring to it RPers or no, but I don't see why it can't be.

 

I'd like to know how Law enforcement RP will go down there.

I think it ultimately depends on how they instance it off, or if they do. If they don't? I expect a ton of trolls and way too much lag to facilitate decent, open RP unless done in party.

 

If they do instance it off, I think we as a community need to choose a good ward and try to stick to it for open RP stuff.

If it gets too crowded, probably not honestly. I would imagine it might become a place where people idle a lot, they did straight up say some games are good for playing whilst waiting for duty finder etc. 

Might ease the load in Mor Dhona a bit, I guess. 

 

If people can live with the trolls, and it's at a level such as the quicksand where the two worlds seem to co-exist pretty well, then maybe when the initial interest surge has died down it'd be possible to RP there.

To be fair, they did handle housing atrociously. I just mean that they have different wards/instances/floors of the casino. Say the casino has 10 floors for the population to spread themselves out over, and the RPC chooses something like Floor 7 or whatever to hang around and RP on. That way, it isn't as crowded and people can maybe get some RP in.

 

Other than that, no. I expect it to be way too crowded and way too trollish for people to get any respectable RP done.

I plan to role-play there from time to time but that will likely be when the initial chaos dies down. It also depends on how busy it is - if it's like Revenant's Toll it might be a frustrating experience.

With the patch live now, I've actually already seen a couple of people/groups RPing a bit in open chat. I haven't really seen any griefing for it, either. However, it's really, really crowded right now, being patch day and all. I imagine it'll thin out just a bit later on.

I've seen a few people role-playing as well and I've said in other posters it's usually role-players themselves that cause trouble for each other more often than outsiders. The vast majority of other players realise that role-play is a thing that happens on Balmung nor do they care to interrupt it if they see it.

As was suggested in a thread here, I plan on arriving to the Gold Saucer entirely IC...though walking around from place to place might be a bit dodgy when doing the "quests" to open the place up.

 

It will be a fight between my want to immerse myself entirely and my want to just get all the things and THEN play.

 

Also, the top Steel will be wearing will have an effect on whether I walk or run, a shirt that I lovingly refer to as "The Physics Halter Top" >.>

I dont think there is any real law enforcment in the Gold Saucer. That or its privatized.

 

At least from what I saw, it seems that adventurers are their own best police there.

Holy crap it's like the perfect place for RP. It's like the Citadel, the Deep Space 9, the Babylon 5 of FFXIV...you have NPCs from all three city-states, and even though it's Ul'dahn, it definitely has a cosmopolitan feel.

 

There are bars and seating and all sorts! There needs to be intrigue RP here, it's ideal for that!
