Hahahahaha! That was a fun thing to picture. Most of my characters I like to consider somewhere above average, though in the case of my miqo'te that extremely restricted to hunting creatures and being in a desert environment. Having said that, I'd be more than happy to lose out to anyone whom was supposedly, significantly stronger. Excluding my Au Ra, I have one character that I consider rather impressive when it comes to his abilities so more often than not I'd reallllly want to see him hold his own at least for a while, but I wouldn't entirely rule out the possibility of him getting completely beat... so I stuck with just the one answer.
-
I initially had this written out another way with a hypothetical but I think I'll just come at it straight. How do/would you react to someone who wants to believe that their character is stronger than you/most other people - and your character was heavily testing their patience? 1) Would you override their belief with anything along the lines of "My character is strong too!" ? 3) Would you insist that your character puts up a decent fight regardless, but will still ultimately lose? 3) Would you take your lumps and let the experience unfold in your own character's disfavour? 4) Other? Imagine that the person is OOCly being reasonable and not harbouring any sense of an attitude akin to: - "I can and will beat up anyone else's character because I can" In addition, does anyone have a particularly strong character(s) that normally come out on top but would still happily see them taken by surprise or even beaten unexpectedly by someone of a similar or perhaps even lesser level of skill level/strength?

Ultimate Fight FFXIV... WTF is this?!

Minfillia earned it to be fair, even considering how well Yda did initially. -
To Plot or to Not: The Question, the Debate
K'nahli replied to Arelian Solin's topic in RP Discussion
I'd be more fond of plot-driven RP. It was what I had expected from FF but I have yet to really experience it(in general). So sadly, my RP has been mostly slice-of-life... outside of a very, slow-paced tribal story anyways. -
Au Ra Character Creation Screens discussion!
K'nahli replied to Uninstalldotexe's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Given the fact that we're not from Eorzea, I have little choice but to write the tribal thing off to a degree. Granted, I knew my character's family would be dead long before any of this lore came out, but I understand the pain of knowing that many, many Au Ra will be presenting similar stories. I can't really blame people for that but I do hope some people bring over the tribal aspect with them if they can find the means to. I'll certainly keep my eyes open and see if there's anything of interest that I could perhaps get my character interested in with regards that since I don't like deviating from the lore. -
I want to share Clover's forename idea, particularly to get help and impressions from you(or anyone else) but since she didn't post it herself, I wonder if maybe she was paranoid of throwing it out there in case anyone subconsciously(or not) remembers it further down the line and ends up using it without meaning to(or not), haha. I'm disappointed that we must wait until the end of May to get a release on naming conventions, but hopefully I'll still get my character made and to end-game in time ; Please, Balmung. I really doubt it. I'd take the risk if I were you.

I don't know. Could the same not be said for hyurs since you have the redbellies operating in the same area? If there are still a lot of tribal clans out there then I doubt Coeurclaw Poachers constitute as a significant number to have people wary of every Keeper they see.

If you have nothing positive or constructive to contribute then please do not bother posting at all. Attempting to call other people out over petty and irrelevant details will not get anyone anywhere. Aside from that, please mind your tone. It doesn't matter how well you know one person or another, or how accustomed you are to being 'harsher' in certain company. If people frequently come off too strongly in a way that others might perceive it as off-putting or toxic then your choice of wording will start biting back in the form of warnings and eventually bans. Enough topics have been unnecessarily cut short as of late and there's no good that can come from helping to create an unfriendly atmosphere in the forums. Please have a long think about what you want to say and how it might come off to anyone who reads it - be they the target of your post or not. You are not the only person who loses out from being sanctioned. Everyone please think about what you are doing.

Wow okay, I think I understand what's going on a bit better now. That's... just terrible. -
Let's talk about Valve new addiction to the Workshop
K'nahli replied to Desu Nee's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Please mind your tone, everyone. A few posts in here could arguably come off as quite sharp. ~~~~~ I'm not sure I am seeing the whole picture here, but otherwise I think I am of the opinion that if people want to see ensured payout for the work they put into a mod then by all means they are entitled to it. Would it be a shame for us as consumers if it caught on? Absolutely. Though I can't say I have any reason to complain. -
Your skin colour versus your character's skin colour
K'nahli replied to Seriphyn's topic in RP Discussion
Have yet to make a significantly, dark-skinned character but while I won't rule it out, lighter tones are definitely my general preference. -
"Ah.... Clover..." Andre responded with surprise as his gaze suddenly fixed upon the girl. "I'm sorry, I didn't notice you there when I was walking in" he continued after a brief pause while allowing a soft smile of his own to form across his face. Seeing her here and now, tending to her garden offered some form of relief to the young knight. In fact, it was better than had she merely answered the door to him as he had been expecting. Somehow, this helped to reassure him of something. This was Clover. Innocent, little Clover; minding her own business in her own humble and every-day manner. What had he been thinking? Shaking off the thought, Andre stepped back from the front door, allowing him to then loiter between where Clover now stood and the front gate, his body language hinting toward his readiness to leave upon request. "I'm not interrupting you, am I? I can come back later if you prefer"

K'nahli's eyes lowered and focused more intently on Seeka, the chocobo whom she had fetched for K'rahto. "I couldn't find your sister and I didn't know who else to ask... so I don't know if you have a preference for chocobo..." she explained herself more clearly while taking a step forward to gently rest her two hands on both of the creature's cheekbones. "Seeka can be quite giddy at times but you won't have to worry about her constantly slowing down on you after a couple bells of running" K'nahli continues while gentle scratching the side of the bird's cheek, prompting the chocobo to respond with an energetic buck of her head. She smiles softly in amusement before allowing it to fade as she casts her gaze back up toward K'rahto/ "We can get a different one if you'd rather though..."

The sound of three knocks on the front door echoed lowly throughout the young botanist's house. Though he had no real reason to assume that she were even at home right now, Andre hadn't given much thought to what he would do should she not be. His sapphire eyes seemed to wash over with an appearance of absence for a moment as he only pondered upon that notion now, only to hastily cast it aside once again as though settling upon the idea that either way, it shouldn't really matter. Politely, the young man took a step back from the door, ever-conscious as he was of his manners and maintaining proper etiquette when dealing with people. Friends, even those as close as he had considered Clover, still not managing to prove themselves much of an exception to that rule. The tingling warmth of the sun's rays greeted the young hyur's face with a gentle caress as it cracked through the colossal canopy of the great Oak that overlooked the Lavender Beds. Conveniently-placed speckles of shadow created by the emerald leaves shielded his eyes from the glare as he casually cast his glance in it's direction, his mind wandering for some time as he awaited the familiar and light patter of approaching footsteps from within. For the moment however, nothing other than the soft rustling of tree leaves was to be heard as they happily whispered among one another overhead, in the morning's delicately, warm breeze. Under normal circumstances, a casual smile would have found it's way across Andre's visage. It was true that he could behold the same sight a thousand times over and never tire of it; as was his innocent adoration for nature and the beauty it so often provided here within the Shroud. Today, however, he had not arrived under normal circumstances... at least he was not entirely sure of it. Something was on his mind and perhaps that much would be obvious to Clover after the man knocked on the door for a second time... not too soon after the first, though still more readily than what was to be expected for the ever, self-conscious Andre whom still yet struggled to dial back on the meticulously cautious and thoughtful behaviour one would expect of a noble. *knock* *knock* *knock*

The mere walk towards K'rahto was agonizing; a painfully, dragged-out trial of it's own as it had turned out. Why in the name of Azeyma was he even looking right at her? Was her approach truly such an interesting spectacle? What in the seven hells was she supposed to do other than casually look right back so as to avoid coming off as confrontational!? There were only so many times she could pretend to have been momentarily distracted by either of the birds alongside her. Suddenly it felt as though she couldn't walk fast enough. Luckily enough, K'rahto was the first to speak as she drew to a stop before him, helping to shatter the unusual sense of tension that K'nahli felt had suddenly been growing between them - that is to say, an unusual tension beyond what has always been there. Having handed one of the chocobo off to K'rahto, K'nahli adjusted her posture to give the appearance that she was facing her own mount as though to attend Suna, but in truth, she was still watching the tia carefully out from the corner of her eye. He wasted no time with tying his own supplies onto to his saddle while she feigned to be inspecting hers. She had a simple question in mind for him of course, though for whatever reason she has having difficult simply vocalizing it. Though she could have sworn she were silently frowning to herself, her expression seemed mostly neutral, closer to being something akin to anxious in fact. Before the girl realised it, K'rahto had then promptly clambered his way on to a sitting position atop his mount, clumsy as he may have otherwise been, K'nahli didn't seem to notice. "Ready" was his comment. Short and to the point. Breathing a sharp but otherwise silent sigh to herself, she firmly, though reluctantly at first, turned herself to face the tia once more. She almost felt guilty at this point - as though she felt somehow responsible for not trying harder to get along with him like he were any other tribes member. Despite her instinctual unwillingness to throw herself into such a pit of sand drakes, K'nahli forced herself to meet eyes with K'rahto. As always, his perpetual frown only made that amber glare of his seem all the more venomous and menacing - even when she was sure he was not intending to look upset. "Will you be alright like that...?" the girl asked rather simply - seemingly paying no mind to how easily her question could be misunderstood.

((OOC Note: I'm so sorry Clover. I just... cannot write. This is why it took so long T_T *keels over and dies*)) For K'nahli, the next bell and a half seemed to drag on for an eternity. A whole day... and whole day to merely make the trip from their new settlement - in Thanalan's eastern reaches - to the city of Ul'dah. A trip, for the record, that could well be made in total silence for the entire duration. At least, such a thing certainly didn't seem like an exaggerated possibility. Not to K'nahli anyways. In fact, when it came to both her and K'rahto, she felt that there was simply no question about it. Though the pair lacked for a considerable amount of interaction with one another, it didn't take the wisdom of an elder to immediately tell that they were the least favourable pair when it come to creating conversation. Even still, while there was a great deal of comfort to be found in such a thought, it still didn't push from mind that K'rahto's silence would only manage to unnerve her. Normally such a thing would be good, to not need to worry about sharing much conversation with K'rahto in particular... but even then, the entire atmosphere would still be incredibly awkward. Undeniably. "....nn..." K'nahli hummed an anxious note to herself as she guided the two chocobo by the reigns alongside her. The dry and brittle sand crunched noisily beneath their large feet with each step they took - it's otherwise pleasant sound only serving to remind the girl that she were drawing closer and closer to the moment that it would all, inevitably go down hill. Her thoughts were momentarily interrupted, however, as Suna, the chocobo with whom she guided by the reigns in her right hand, seemed to tilt her head downward and to the side... until her large and beautifully dark eyes were peering closely into K'nahli's with an innocent curiosity. Perhaps she sensed the girl's anxiety? Blinking suddenly in surprise K'nahli simply stared back with a timid uncertainty before an eventual, nervous smile forced it's way across her expression. Some way or another, whether the bird understood what was going on or not, she always managed to make K'nahli smile with it's innocent, chocobo mannerisms. Perhaps it was simply her allowing the naive thought that such things could be understood by her fluffy companion that helped put K'nahli at ease at times like this. ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ Having already checked around his tent again, the girl concluded that the tia would have chosen to return to where she had found him earlier. A particularly difficult spot to simply guide two chocobo over by foot mind you; it, of course, meant taking a slightly longer route as a result. "Already proving a nuisance" the girl thought to herself, frustrated - even while ignorantly acknowledging the fact that, had he not been there in the end and she walked all the way over there for no reason, it'd still be his fault as far as she was concerned. Walking around the incline she had once climbed this morning, K'nahli finally draws to a momentary stop for a couple of seconds, having now spotted her target. True enough, he had indeed returned to the very same spot in the end. It was somewhat relieving that she didn't have more reason to be frustrated with the current situation. She'd need all the patience she could muster for the trip to come sure enough. Pausing only to draw in a deep breath in preparation, K'nahli quietly clicked her tongue, ushering the two great birds forward as she began walking once again, coming more clearly into view now as she promptly approached K'rahto Tia.

There have been lots of topics of this nature in the past but many of them are quite long-winded. I can try to dig them up for you just in case, but for a quick answer(of sorts) to your question, there's no "one, true" tribe for each letter. There can be, and are, a number of variations or sects of different tribes, so just because you want to roll yours as a character from the T tribe doesn't mean you have to be a part of the same tribe as anyone else who hails from the same lineage. My main is from the Hipparion(K Tribe) for example but that doesn't mean we get to set the standard for all tribal, K' miqo'te out there. Threads: The Antelope Tribe(A') Miqo'te Tribe Relations(A little misleading) RPC Wiki: Hipparion Tribe(Sagolii Desert) Hipparion Tribe(South Shroud) As it turns out, only two that I can find that seem more directly relevant to your concerns at least. Still, don't hesitate to ask anything you like here!

I have difficulty believing that such things really deter people from reading the posts of newer/less frequent users. If it's a topic you're skimming through anyways and are only curious for a specific few's answers then yeah, sure. Otherwise I imagine that everyone is curious to read any and all input. Albeit that's just me. I can't really say that it's not a possibility either.

People having a thin-skin is often not the real problem in my experience. Rather, it's other peoples' lack of ability to acknowledge the reasons why their posts have been perceived negatively, furthered by their lack of consideration to clarify their stance while reinforcing a friendly - or at least neutral - tone in such a message. Sometimes people just seem far too concerned with their own voice and the validity of their own opinions to do anything other than default to placing it far above the reactions, thoughts and feelings - spoken or unspoken - of those whom may read it/it was directed at. As for intentional hostility... I find that pretty disturbing actually. I understand having a strong opinion on one matter or another and therefore feeling the urge to express how ridiculous the opinion of someone else may seem to you, even if it means being a little sharp or critical, but admitting to frequently using those cases as an opportunity to potentially put someone down just for your own personal amusement as well as indirectly pursuing silent encouragement from others.... I'm sorry, I do not like the sound of that and I highly doubt that anything of the kind will continue skimming under the radar at the rate things are going. I'm familiar with those types of communities and I have to admit that I think it's acceptable in certain places, typically depending on the platform and userbase, but I do not feel that it's something that works for here, and frankly, I do not want to see it turn into such a thing either.
-
I am strongly of the same opinion solely due to the massive influx of RMT tells and bots I've been seeing lately - relative to the near-zero we used to get beforehand anyways.
-
I must admit, this topic itself made me a bit wary but I suppose it has good intentions. I will say it now though, to anyone and everyone, be especially wary about your choice of wording. Strongly disagreeing or being passionate about one philosophy or another is totally fine so long as you don't neglect your responsibility to do your best to not come off as offensive to the other party. If people keep choosing to test the limits of how far they can push rude or unnecessarily, negative remarks then you will soon find that there will be a lot less leniency for what is considered tolerable content - and no-one likes strict rules or moderation, so please consider what effects your actions may have on everyone else and not just yourself.

Dragon's Dogma Online stealing FFXIV's UI hardcore

I'm trying to look at this as something similar to an online version of Monster Hunter, haha... so I am really excited to see what happens!
