*Whoosh* ! I honestly didn't even realise the connection until you mentioned it, hahaha. Nice, very nice >w< I guess I will definitely look into getting a Sleipnir mount(though I sincerely hope they release a lot more feasible horses like the Frontline version, only with without the barding). Edit: *fixes numerous typos ; *

Don't let misunderstandings turn Au Ra into the next, lame Shiva joke pleas ;_;

There's an ongoing topic regarding the debatable affects and efficiencies of glamours over here if you're interested. Technically, there's no real certified truth to either possibility, but I am personally of the opinion that you can merely hide something but not remove it from physical existence. It sounds like your RP is relatively private though. If so, then I think it shouldn't cause too many ripples to have people pretend like you were an Au Ra all along.
-
To be fair, I think the Ul'dahn and Quicksand RP'ers have legitimate cause for concern, haha. This I honestly agree with. While I can't say that I like the idea of random people glamouring themselves to begin with in my personal RP, I won't really dismiss it either, but armour glamour seems very silly to me, haha.
-
Yes, in my opinion. I imagine that glamours are highly unstable and easy to disspell. I can't say that I take all of those tribe and levequests as absolute canon, but if you were, then you could argue that simply attacking something can quite easily cause the glamour to immediately fail - in addition to the fact that beastkin/voidsent are far more capable of manipulating it's properties unto themselves than any of the six races are. There are way, wayyyy too many complications involved in having a long-term and stable glamour work upon a person that it makes little sense to me to argue that you can simply hide a tail or ears, and in addition to not feeling your own appendages during that time, anything else simply phases through them as though they didn't exist. Could people not glamour themselves into rats? Flies? Any animal really? Why pretend to be a garlean agent at all during the day and settle for talking to random grunts when you can just sneak into the main HQ and spy on the commanders every evening? Could people not have glamoured into Gaius, Livia or Nero and given false commands to disrupt military procedures and cripple the enemy through farce orders and tactics? Could a refugee or anyone else not glamour themselves into a wealthy and influential individual, invade their home and make off with their fortune? Could someone not just murder anyone and everyone they saw fit and quickly glamour themselves into a Brass Blade or Flame to immediately throw suspicion off of themselves when they are spotted walking in the opposite direction, seemingly oblivious? What about wearing rags and glamouring it into heavy armour forged of the strongest element imaginable? Wouldn't that be cost effective and efficient? I could go on but these are just any, random examples that popped into my head just now. In my opinion, glamours - if accepted at all - are not something that should be treated as though just anyone can do it at a whim; let alone efficiently.

Three sounds the most reasonable to me but C'kaya's suggestion sounds the most ideal even while ignoring the benefit of the extra twist and plot it could create with him being "replaced" by a fresh face. A glamoured tail and horn is unfeasible to me since I can't comprehend how he wouldn't notice they are there at any point, haha.

ARE YOU FOR REAL? 9_JcM45gaFs PARTY TIMES AHOY. LET'S GO. Can this still be bypassed by certain actions? I really hope not, but even if that is the case it should help at least a little. They said awhile back that they didn't like the idea of people taking "dirty" screenshots, so I'd assume it's to deal with Miqo'te twerking and other things, maybe even a slight adjustment to hide the upskirt that happens to? I'm not sure on the last one but I think it's mainly the twerking. I kind of hope so actually. I find that incredibly unfunny personally, haha ; HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I've always wondered the answer to a particular question but since it's not really topic worthy on it's own, perhaps people can use this thread as a place to ask for tips for very specific instances that they are unsure of. So for me, it's tanking the very first room of WoD. Should the three Golden Chimera things be tanked in the centre or lured to the edges and drawn along the edges as the AoEs rotate? My concern is that melee DPS do not like that even though I find I have plenty of room to myself whenever I am on DRG and attack one or two that are in the centre(I seldom see all three there for the duration and the lack of consistency makes me doubt which is the most effective strategy). So, melee DPS in particular... what do you prefer?

He sounds like an incredibly self-centred person. I'd remove him from your life right away and remind yourself of your true priorities. FFXIV is all you need.

Xaela Family/Clan: Tumet - Always open!
K'nahli replied to Michikyou's topic in Chronicled Connections
Your Xaela is supposed to come from a tribe though, even if he left. Perhaps you could consider getting ties with a real tribe, as having a real family or real friends might give him any future plot! No ww -
Xaela Family/Clan: Tumet - Always open!
K'nahli replied to Michikyou's topic in Chronicled Connections
Ahhh ;;; I wish I could participate but sadly my Xaela already has a separate plot going on and I suppose I must consider the excuse that I am already participating in tribal RP with Sunseekers. -
As informative and well-written as all of these posts were, I think the OP isn't very interested in hearing reasons for why such a scenario can't/would be incredibly difficult to work. With that said, unless I am misreading your feelings on the matter OP, please refrain from further conversation that does not tie into you showing interest in participating in such a plot. It's a thread for making connections after all ^^ In any case, I don't think anyone meant badly by their contribution to your thread and were merely trying to help you both understand the difficulties associated with the concept as well as using it as a medium to expand upon their own opinions on the matter. Please correct me if I am wrong however, and good luck with your plot should you follow through ^^

I've often considered my character being kidnapped by the Amalj'aa for tempering, but that's about it!
-
Moreso now than ever. Hold nothing back.

There's also the matter of whether or not machinists will even be commonplace lore-wise. It might just be an opportunity for the WoL to take up the class without the actual circumstance of gunmen becoming even slightly more widespread in Eorzea. Having said that, I guess that matters little if many people have already decided to roleplay it.

Hood and scarves pleeeeeeease. I am someone who changes gear based on weather and climate even though I am never actually RP'ing, so I really want some nice headgear.
-
I took this screen the other day in case anyone thinks it might be a valid point of reference and can work out a real-life equivalent for such pricing. Albeit, if you take it as risen by and not risen to then it will be more difficult - and that's what it sounds like to me I guess.

I think most of my characters will be wary to very wary of males and perhaps intense-looking females.... if I ever RP such a thing anyways!

Guys I think we needled the mods enough. But yeah if you're arguing about proper desert attire you should probably be arguing to the devs about it, 'cause you have more examples of arid nakedness than not. But I am just a lone, little K'nahli and I was mostly speaking as a regular user! Anyways, regardless of whatever may be the truth behind Eorzean/Sunseeker resistance to the sun's blaze, in the end I'll still be on the side of holding one's personal appearance above that of largely-negligible, fantasy realism points such as this. Customization and such is a massive selling point to most gamers, RP and non-RP alike, or so I believe. If you can meet both criteria then great, if you can merely only try to strike a balance then that's also good; if you have to deviate wildly then... oh well, so long as you're happy! For my personally I think it seemed to fit within the themes of tribal and something appropriate for a warm climate so even if it doesn't work 100% in terms of direct exposure in peak hours, I'll be willing to overlook it. Similarly, one of my characters only seems to look nice in black and he spends most of his time in Thanalan. It's not ideal, but I won't throw away something I like for something that really doesn't matter in the end. K'nahli, my miqo'te, also has a dark set but I'm willing to say that she only uses that in the later hours or when out of the direct sun at least.
-
But yes, I believe the topic was intended to be of a very light-hearted nature so please avoid relating it so something deeper just in case anyone takes offence to it *nod nods* No more cactuuaaarrs!!
-
But then you said she! And then Miqo'te! Oh well. His proud Tia heritage was the only casualty here. Hahaha! I was talking about my main at first *nods* This was another character. And I'll have you know that he takes his tia heritage very seriously! There were no minor casualties tonight. After he mentioned it I did go looking for it myself and thought I saw it but I could be it could be merely because I was looking for it, haha. In any case, it was not me who was offended, but him!
-
You've offended his proud, tia heritage
-
My main has rather pale skin but since I don't really RP that often - and practically never in public - she hasn't run into this yet but I am anxious that I will eventually! She's meant to be a Sagolii-based miqo'te after all. All of her family is more or less tanned too! sdfsdf On topic though, is the shawl okay? I guess technically it's not the most ideal thing for a desert but the game hardly offers a lot in terms of creating a unique-ish look. For hot climates, I am willing to overlook gears that don't look incredibly stuffy and even those that don't conceal very much, but I hate when people underdress in Coerthas OOCly!!11!1

I would assume that might be the case - since Ishgard has control over the breeding females (except in the case of the Gold Saucer birds? I'm still confused over that one), it wouldn't be surprising that they'd be the ones with the rare birds. Doubly so if they end up being considered a symbol of status or the like, such as being the personal mounts of the House leaders or something. As for things suddenly being around that weren't before, we'll have that with the Au Ra already and also previously with Rogues/Ninjas. Haha, yes. The sudden influx will be quite something and just a thing people will sort of have to deal with, albeit it's not quite the same since this would potentially be a change to something that was already in existence. In any case, I am a little more reassured now that them being a special and "new" Ishgard breed will put that odd little circumstance to rest. It's an explanation at least!

If I'm a Lalafellin trader in Thanalan, and I'm used to having to travel over the ground past all sorts of creatures that the very in-game-canon says really want to eat me (read some of the fate descriptions around Horizon), this becomes pretty important to me. If I'm a (insert non-combatant person) traveling through (insert area filled with ground threats) and I find out that flying mounts exist suddenly, you bet your tuckus that I'm suddenly interested. If I'm a Brass Blade, and I can suddenly fly over those Amal'jaa and drop firesand bombs on their positions, instead of putting myself in danger, you bet I want a flying Chocobo. If I'm a Limsan Pirate captain, darned right I'm keeping a flying Chocobo on board, for the same kind of bombing runs against Garlean ships. In fact, SE is going to have to spend a little time enforcing to us that flying mounts are terribly rare if they expect us to continue to take a LOT of their lore seriously. The reintroduction of air power in Eorzean hands (remember - Airships are RARE right now and Garlean Air Power is part of their threat) is a major plot point that.... well, I'm gonna be that guy and say it. I don't think SE is going to have thought this all the way through, but I will accept pleasant surprises, because frankly, I WANT to be wrong about it. It's not so much about people ICly being willing to accept it, but moreover the fact that come Heavensward, they suddenly exist in regular areas as though it's nothing new to RP. Unless it turns out that these are some special and rare breed from Ishgard that are now released to the wider realm or whatever.
