I think you can only fly in Heavensward content. So the new zones, I think. I am speaking explicitly from an RP lore standpoint though. Many people are content to accept what they see in-game as something that is legitimately canon and to be taken at face value, and while I am not suggesting that it's impossible for that to be the case, I just personally didn't imagine it to be normal for chocobo to fly. And so I was wondering, out of the many people whom I assume own personal chocobo, how many of them will decide they can suddenly fly and be bringing that aspect into ARR area RP? Will many chocobo suddenly be seen flying around as though it were an unordinary sight? (You might be asking what the difference is between a flying chocobo in Ul'dah and Ishgard though honestly I guess it's just that I might see more leniency with the latter since it was never before encountered in standard areas).
-
I apologise if it's technically lore-friendly for them to fly then ^^ I just never heard of anyone flying so far, and though I don't doubt people do in their personal RP's, I had a feeling that chocobo flying cases were certainly few and far between. As such, I was wondering how many people were going to suddenly start... because I'm sure they will! Edit: I love the excessive hype I am seeing in this thread, hahahaha

I have been curious about this for a while now. How many of you will be utilizing flying mounts of some description? How many of you will be accepting flying chocobo as canon and lore-friendly(in the ARR universe)? And finally, how many people who said yes to either of the above will be independently flying to your heart's content in pre-existing areas? So for instance, hopping on your chocobo just outside the gates of Ul'dah and just taking off to the skies.

What have YOU done to spread RP to places not Ul'Dah?
K'nahli replied to OttoVann's topic in RP Discussion
*nods* *nods* It's a similar situation with the Sultansworn in my mind. Frankly speaking, it's not really any of their business(less so than Flames I imagine), but if the character personally has a sense of duty given that they have the training to handle such a situation and are already in the area then why not? That said! I highly encourage more Brass Blade RP! (I'd like to say Wailer and Jacket too, but honestly speaking, I can't imagine that they'd have half many opportunities to interact with such scenes; ) -

Given that Blades are so seldom seen walking around in uniform and on duty, I wouldn't mind seeing GC members acting in their place. Sure, you might see them as soldiers like I do and therefore treat such things as out of their jurisdiction, but it's a step up from a citizen's arrest IF they happen to be around. If someone literally ran up to the flame HQ or something then sure, they'd tell them to run along and tell the blades instead. I could be wrong but I could have sworn I have seen Adders make arrests so it might not be that unusual. -
I've always wanted to take a tribe photo but that is ridiculously impossible considering time zones, dropped subscriptions and worst of all; alts. Still.... this makes me want to photoshop some players together into the same screen. I'll think about getting around to this! (Please excuse the non-contributing post!)

Okay, so as it turns out, my account was not mistakenly registered through an NA regional purchase as I had believed at the time. So I just plainly pre-ordered Heavensward from the wrong region. I've contacted EU support, who then redirected me to NA support. I've contacted NA support, who then redirected me to a more specific support site(NA) I've contacted the more specific NA support, who then redirected me back to regular NA support. Apparently none of them are able to help with this issue and I am a little baffled. Surely it's not the most unlikely and bizarre accident to make? I am surprised that they seemingly have no way of handling this.

The end of May as I recall, so it's not that unusual that nothing was mentioned. I believe that the lore was put up on it's own without real, elaborate notice(no letter anyways) so the conventions likely might be a similar case.

Pasting this message from another topic since it's relevant here too. In any case, thank you very much for the lyrics. They're really nice to know!

Yes, so much..... I hope it's dyeable! Also, seriously... the new trailer and the song is killing me. It gives me such a strong, melancholic vibe. For me, it does a great job to convey the atmosphere of trying to pick yourself up and push forward even after you've lost everything. I keep listening to it. I just love it so much X_X

I almost always want to RP, but I often go through these writer's lulls that just makes it extra difficult for me to spew out anything remotely worthy of being read and that demotivates me a lot. If other people around me also appear disinterested then I also feel a little depressed for the fact and become further demotivated. So how do I deal with it? Often times it seems like I don't ; I just distract myself with other things while hoping for it to pass until it just reaches the point where I am procrastinating it merely out of the worry of stressing myself should I find I am still in such a slump.

What? I pronounce the former too...

I wonder if GC members along with the "police force" of each state (Wailers, Jackets and Blades) would be interested in having a shell opened up where they, along with some active people who frequent areas like those, can be notified when fights break out and things like that so that it's not entirely reliant on some single, random RP'er being in there at the time. Hahahahaha! I don't RP myself but I like to eavesdrop on the goings on regularly, though I have my doubts that everyone else that seems to be doing the same thing are also just interested in listening on on things as opposed to actually participating. -
The K' in K'nahli's name is supposedly meant to have a "Koo" sound to it but I learned about that too late so, while acceptable, I generally pronounce her name like this: The K' part is a standalone letter, so think "Kih" or "Kit" with the removal of the 't' sound at the ending. "-nah" is pronounced literally as the dismissive form would be in english.... "nah". and finally, the "-li" part is pronounced like the english name "Lee". Altogether, phonetically it would sound more or less like: "Ki-na-lee" or "Kih-nah-lee". Meanwhile, the "correct" version would be: "Coo-na-lee" or "Coo-nah-lee" ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ For K'taynu, I have a bad habit of pronouncing the 'K' same way I do for K'nahli, so his name sounds like this: "Kih-tay-nu" where "tay" sounds like the beginning of "take" and "nu" sounds like "noon" or "nunh" with the ending removed.

Maybe if people could suggest some nice places that could serve as a social replacement, such as: Black Shroud: -Buscarron's Place -Hyrstmill -Fallgourd Float Thanalan: -The Coffin & Coffer -Miner's Guild Bar -Vesper Bay -Crescent Cove La Noscea: -The Bismarck -The Aftcastle Plaza -Aleport Bar/Restaurant -Wineport Bar/Restaurant ...and occasionally make a friendly PSA through yell while inside the Quicksand along the lines of: Mind you, it would be wise to first gather a respectable number of volunteers to actually participate in visiting such places first so that it would actually appeal to other players, in addition to starting small with only two areas to begin with perhaps. I'd highly recommend Fallgourd since it's such a large area in general and the main building is rather nice. It could pass as a small bar/food place so long as no lore runs against such thinking. PSAs may seem an unsavoury approach but they're no different from FC recruitment notices and with Yell the radius would be much less intrusive. My two cents anyways. Edit: I have skimmed through the topic and the examples used were just whatever came to mind. Apologies if they've already been mentioned! Edit 2: I've just checked a number of these places and unfortunately some aren't quite as how I remembered. Many are quite small, lacking in indoor seats and have the limited space available taken up by numerous NPCs which certainly take away from the hope of making them any sort of secondary "large" RP hub as opposed to anything worth considering for a smaller, more private part. Some, like Crescent Cove, don't actually have a bar as I had initially thought, but rather a a private home as it would seem. It'd be more suited as a place for fishermen or perhaps the odd rogue/unsavoury group to hang around since it's a bit out of the way. In the case of Fallgourd Float, that also lacks a lot more in seats than I would have cared for and does not look at all like a place one might stop for food or drink judging my all of the bookshelves and such seen about. As a result, as nice as the place is, I can't see the allure it might have to the average RP'er in terms of "Why am I even here?". With that being said, I'd change my recommendation to Buscarron's. It's a little more private and doesn't offer many free seats but it's a cosy place and there's plenty of room both out front and out back overlooking the stream. Could have a bunch of nice scenes there and it'd be cool to see numerous groups hanging around. Keep in mind, however, that you'll have the occasional drunkard fate spawning every so often just outside so the music/sound effects might be disruptive. -
Okay, sure. But what offends me may not offend you. And what offends you may not offend me. How, precisely, are we to decide what is actually offensive and what is not? For that matter, with some people, simple disagreement, no matter how politely stated, is offensive. Are we to bow and scrape to people who can't deal with the fact that not everyone is going to agree with them? You can be civil, and yet still not be polite. In most forums I have been a part of, civility is the rule, not politeness. Civility is much, much easier to distinguish, and allows for people to get offended over things like disagreements without disorder breaking out. Objectively, as a group. It has been stated numerous times in the rules discussion thread(I believe so anyways), that disagreements and debates are highly encouraged if anything. No-one is expected to or asked to pat one another on the back for instances where there may be a strong clash of opinions. Floating back to the point of deciding if GIFs are allowed based on the OPs decision... I honestly don't see that being something we'll be happy to allow. There was a unique case with Natalie's topic recently solely for the fact that she was trying to promote healthy conversation with a volatile topic and placed a number of rules to prevent the thread from being locked. The key word, of course, being "unique". Promoting an attitude where anyone can decide on the rules within their own topic is not a road we want to go down, as valid as the idea on a singular level may seem.

The issue is not explicitly about the use of image macros. That's missing the bigger picture. The only reason that the moderators felt that this was something that needed to be enforced was because it had become a bit of an issue at the time where numerous posts consisting of little, if not nothing other than a meme image, were being posted and cluttering up topics with irrelevant trash. Overlooking that, meme images can quite easily be perceived as a quick and easy method of making a snarky or passive-aggressive remark without actually contributing anything to the topic itself - all while floating under the guise of a post that holds mild relevance to the ongoing discussion. With the newly-released rule set, the goal was to heighten consistency among moderator actions and reduce the extent to which each moderator had to make an independent judgement call - something which can vary quite a bit, even should most of us share similar sentiments and opinions at the best of times. As such, macro images were decidedly treated as a warnable offence in situations where it was deemed as non-content, and for the sake of remaining neutral on all levels, were likely moderated a little more mercilessly than any one of us would have particularly favoured. It might also be worth mentioning that any, one warning issued by a moderator can quite easily be an action which they had really wished to avoid entirely. It's not simply an issue of "Was this inappropriate/breaching the rules?". Nine times out of ten, posts that get warned are lingering in a grey area where one person might consider something that was said as a harsh but ultimately harmless voicing of opinion, while another might see it as something that is heedlessly careless and something to be made an example out of... to make a point of the matter that such inconsiderate behaviour, which repeatedly tends to toe the line of what's tolerable and what isn't, is simply not something that should be enabled. And just as a reminder, warnings and even bans can be appealed if you feel that it was not a justified call or if the moderator in question is missing some important detail that could potentially change their perspective of the matter. I don't believe that any one of us are too proud to admit when we've made a mistake nor to revoke a decision if hindsight proves to reveal a wiser course of action. We don't claim to know best for every single situation, we can only work towards being as fair and reasonable as possible for each of them. The rules are in place to try and keep the forum civil and a place where users, both existing and those yet to join, can happily be a part of - not to spoil anyone's fun or keep the place under an arbitrarily, strict rule. Anyone and everyone is very welcome to have an open dialogue with us about matters that they find concerning. As has been stated, it's not our goal to make things difficult or unpleasant for anyone - be it through strict enforcement of certain rules or excessive leniency with people whom push the boundaries of reputable, social conduct. Now, with all of that said, I don't like the nature in which this topic was created because it directly violated the first draft of a specific rule before it had been amended to be worded differently, but because it has become something of a legitimate topic I will go along and contribute all the same, but you are being warned now to not abuse the opportunity and come out with snarky or passive-aggressive remarks as it is in some peoples' tendencies. If you choose to exercise a blunt and very direct manner when you post, then be sure that you are prepared to be (mis)interpreted for bearing unnecessary animosity and potentially earn yourself avoidable infractions.

Technically not a couple but I ship them so hard and have been thinking about it a lot lately @A@

I'm actually wondering If I had made this exact topic already a long time ago... (And thank you for your replies so far, everyone!) --------------- Thread has been merged with a topic that had the exact same name (+ a "the"!).

[EU] The first great Eorzean Wine and Dine Festival!
K'nahli replied to Tali's topic in Chronicled Events
I h-hope our silly and random RP didn't spoil the atmosphere on anyone too much. We didn't really have anyone more suited to take part in the event. In any case, I had a lot of fun. Thank you for having us! ;w; -
Has it ever been "decided" what worth gil holds against real life currency? I have genuinely no idea is 100 gil would be like $/£/€100 if not more, or if it's comparable to pennies. Perhaps it's one of those things that is mostly overlooked for the sake of keeping things simple but I am looking at the Wine Tasting event for example and I want to know how expensive things should be deemed by my character. Also, while we're here.... how much would you suggest an inn room would cost for the night(in Ul'dah if it matters) along with perhaps a simple meal?

There's a quest where you have to recover something from the bodies of fallen... somethings, whatever that Storm group is in Outer la Noscea. I don't think they were dog tags but I don't think they were mere personal effects either. I believe it was something that identified them somehow.

I have strength accessories on my Paladin for when I was actively PvP'ing. I had occasionally done runs without realising I had forgotten to switch back.
