  1. Finally got around to that glamour update I've been meaning to give K'taynu for the longest while. The idea is pretty much the same as his previous set, just with different pieces ~ I am the Lord of Dimly Lit Screenshots.
  2. I don't think anyone is disagreeing that the housing system leaves a lot to be desired, but that doesn't stop them from reasoning as to why it is proving to be such a problem for the development team. Issues with what would otherwise appear to be technologically simple feats appear all throughout the game; it can often be simply impossible to hit an enemy that's moving while playing as a melee class - no matter how much you're sitting on it's tail. I don't think anyone has come close to saying that "the important thing is that they tried" or that they shouldn't try to find a way to seriously revamp their system so that minor systems are as easy to work with as they should be for a game in this day and age. The impression I am getting, is that people aren't satisfied with an answer as conveniently pessimistic as 'SE doesn't care' or anything along those lines... and frankly I'm not either. There are a number of things I am dissatisfied with, the biggest one having absolutely nothing to do with technical restrictions but blunt hard-headedness on Yoshi's part, but it's clear that there are multiple issues that prevent the ease of implementation we would all hope for in the case of housing. It's borderline absurd to think otherwise.
  3. I don't even..... I get angry when people DON'T do this. Seriously, if it's not 1-10 gil then nine times out of ten it's some clown dropping the item's value by 5-20k. I don't see the issue with undercutting by 1 gil. It simply means you are taking advantage of the moment to have your items listed first. That's perfectly fine and normal market etiquette. What's actually bad is when people arbitrarily take big chunks out of an item's value and consequently cause everyone's profits to suffer when it comes their turn to undercut. Please by all means continue doing this and know that you are doing a service to everyone else also trying to sell. Everyone profits more that way and the world keeps spinning. As for my sins, I'm sorry for getting depressed about aspects surrounding one or two RP sessions of mine own making and putting off tagging until the point where I felt too embarrassed to post at all and consequently saw the entire thing abandoned. Every time I saw your names in-game or on the forums, you few who very kindly participated back then, I died a little inside and really hoped you didn't dislike me for it ;
  4. You wouldn't believe how many brain cells ones loses over reading such people justify house flipping as a legitimate marketing technique by saying houses are really worth what people are willing to pay for them(in other words, the desperate and rich elite).
  5. That my character is too boring for anyone to ICly or OOCly find any interest in speaking to her for any extended period of time.
  6. Posted ~ Will share it with other people. Edit: Assuming someone actively RPs more than one character, or engaged in more RP on a character they, in spite of which, would not consider their RP main, would it be permitted to create a second listing to involve such an alt, or would that still be unwanted? Despite having seven characters, this is not the case for me since I am hardly even active on my main - but I can think of at least a couple of people that I have recommended this poll to that might feel that way. One in fact has her main as a hyur, but her alt is arguably the most active in the RP scene and is a member of the same tribe as my character.
  7. I'd like to bump one of my questions for increased visibility as it quite possibly would be a desirable feature for a number of roleplayers other than myself. (Sorry for the little flair of desperation I added in there). Link.
  8. Comment by a dev: "So yes, the Midlander male, Miqo’te female, Roegadyn male, Elezen female, and Lalafell female in the recent trailers are in fact the same ones that appeared in the 1.0 trailer! (Yes, the black mage is the Elezen female from the morbol party, not the snooty male from the Midlander’s party. The robe & hat conceal some of her more distinguishing features, and we all know there was no bust size adjustment feature back in 1.0). But that still leaves one question—was the party an actual party, or were they merely symbols meant to represent you, the players? Well, you can breathe easy knowing they are both. They all ventured into Eorzea at the same time as you did. They all did similar quests, and lived through similar adventures. They exist as your characters exist (in a virtual world-sort of existence). The fact that you haven’t come across them is probably the same reason you haven’t come across my character, Amanda Hugginkyss (or maybe you have? /wink). They’re just somewhere else. Though, maybe you’ll stumble across their party in the future. Or maybe you won’t. How’s that for committing to an answer?" Though I can't find the original source, this basically says Derplander and pals exist like our characters do, we just haven't seen them until recently in 3.1, confirming our WoL isn't Derplander. I read that before somewhere, though I also remember reading something along the lines of "We, the player, are the WoL, but even if they weren't/chose to assume that our character wasn't, then it would just be the Midlander and co. taking their place". Unfortunately, that sounds incredibly awkward and vague but I am 80% sure it was from a dev post, only presented in a much more cohesive manner. The thing is that that post could have been foreshadowing this eventual and planned event. Yes we met them, technically we met them.... but only because they are not the WoL in that scenario, our characters are. If you chose to imagine that Midlander's party are indeed the WoL, then perhaps the WoDa in the 3.1 encounter could look like our characters, or anyone else for that matter.
  9. I'm not sure I'm getting the part where people are suggesting that the WoL from the cutscenes might represent someone else entirely when the exact same person represented us in the Heavensward cinematic.
  10. They had a low drop rate? Do you know what it was/have an approximation?
  11. I might try and collect them on my main just for the sake of having them, but really it's my Paladin who wants the Bismarck mount and perhaps my level 53-not-even-at-Heavensward-yet Ninja who wants Ravanna, but trying to farm an extreme primal as them is quite intimidating. I never did such a thing on anyone but my main, a Bard ;
  12. If you weren't already in his pocket to begin with then I can't think of a good reason why he would risk letting it slip that he planned on letting the assassination attempt go ahead at risk to the Sultana's well-being. It's quite a serious risk for a Nanamo devotee to take as opposed to trying to raise the alarm. That and it was a secret. Not even Raubahn knew about it until afterwards. Also I can't blame the Sultansworn for not being able to protect her. It did happen in her Private Chambers after all. The only odd thing is that they never made an appearance at all nor made any significant comment following the fact.
  13. AND DYEABLE RACE GEAR. .....wait..... ...wait, why is Raubahn...
  14. If you saw any, then you are likely in an extreme minority it would seem.
  15. As far as I know, there is no evidence at all to suggest that very many Xaela actually made the journey to Eorzea as a result of the Garlean occupation. Personally, I am treating it as though the Garleans are letting sleeping dogs lie because they'd have little interest in needlessly fighting what are essentially an uninteresting bunch of uncivilised tribes. They might slowly expand into their territory if they see need for further construction, but I doubt it would be extensive and I am sure most Xaela would keep their distance from them until they felt it to be becoming a problem. If you're implying that the sheer number of Xaelan Player Characters infer that many canonically made the journey since, then I don't think that is the correct way to be looking at it. Everyone is basically playing the exception. In fact, the WoL can not be an Au Ra of any kind simply because it disrupts the storyline involving Yugiri.
  16. I don't even know them and yet somehow I've always shipped them.
  17. The blurred and bloodied visage of his opponent lying crippled below him seemed as though it could have been an accurate reflection of the devastated remnants that remained to be felt of himself in that moment - two Xaelan warriors of impressive size and build, each battered within an inch of their lives and with little more than the parasitic blotches of obsidian protruding uniquely from beneath the film of crimson in which both were bathed. Nhogai's chest heaved with each lung-slicing breath he stole as a fiery glare that could shatter mountains weighed down upon the other whom was only too eager to return the favour. The latter's teeth bared themselves in protest against the mind-numbing pain that tore itself throughout his leg, his trembling hand weakly hovering above the haft of a small blade - once belonging to him - now lodged deeply within his flesh. The brief seconds in which he had felt the assured advantage within his grasp had fled beneath the desperate though successful attempt of his competitor to deter him with a hasty, ranged attack. Nhogai had never shown a particular aptitude for throwing knives in his limited experience with them, though he welcomed the single remaining opportunity that had been left to him when a ferocity fuelled by desperation responded in haste as he beheld his panicked opponent racing down the rocky slope, his goal to reach for the bow and quiver which had escaped him during their scuffle and bring about a certain end to the one-on-one battle. It was an accurately-landed jab to the throat which had allowed him the chance of escape beneath his foe's indomitable strength, one that was only exaggerated further when Nhogai's weight would only work against him and bring him to stumble upon the loose rubble that had laced this section of the mountainous incline that lay underfoot. A bizarre terrain to have found themselves landed upon, though through the chaos of battle it was determined that their personal war was one of attrition, with neither male daring to let themselves emerge the loser, each taking turns to push the advantage against their rival before inevitably being bested in their counter attack by an enemy of equivocal strength - and though it were Nhogai whom had landed the deadly blow, the odds yet remained against him. Yes, Nhogai had made his mark; though that had earned him little more than a few seconds... and only left him completely unarmed in the most unfortunate of positions. With nothing of his own to offer in retaliation, Nhogai was no more than a sitting duck. Even his fellows, all capable warriors whom should have been somewhere nearby, had known to return without him, even should they have proved successful in their own battles. They knew better than to risk seeking him out should his encounter have seen him delayed for longer than was expected, and it was in their ability to follow orders above heart that he trusted in them to not attempt coming to his rescue. There would be no hope of a last moment rescue. He was on his own. Nhogai gritted his teeth as a sharp exhale announced both his desperate search for inspiration and his failing ability to continue hiding the extent of his injuries much further. The man's glare darkened into something even more dangerous then as it frantically set itself upon anything and everything around him, his determination to emerge victorious in this battle triumphing above every shredding ounce of pain that tore throughout every inch of his body as it screamed it's silent requiem of agony... and even further above the pathetic and unXaelan-like fear of mere death. "...tch..." Even while crippled, there was no hope for Nhogai to close the distance on his foe before he would have reached the bow which lay only a few feet ahead of him, and with nothing of his own to use in his defence, Nhogai's growing frustration only intensified to critical levels, seeing his boots digging only more heavily into the rubble underfoot and stealing his balance even further than before. A furiously desperate glare saw him snap at the neck repeatedly as he fought valiantly to retain his own footing in his endeavour, unknowing of what options yet remained for him to take. He needed..... SOMETHING. He could not die here. Not now. Not to cowardly vermin like this. "....." ....something.... something..... anything......... [...] "..............!" From the sudden and enveloping darkness pounced forth the vaguely familiar view of a stone ceiling, a structure of foreign construct and one which he had yet to learn to grow accustomed to awakening to. As had been the case with every moment he had found the ability to earn himself some rest, he was once again greeted by a visit from those charred memories whose loathsome existence had served as a prelude to the series of events that had led him to assuming a residency in this Raen settlement. A fatigued gaze masked by a deceptive facade of apathy gently narrowed to encourage focus, as the blurry scenery that met his eyes slowly faded toward the edges of his vision to meet with a hazy return of the world's colour which curled and wisped their way across strained eyes, much like a dye leaking it's stain into a flowing stream. Around him, the weak hues of the early morning were noticed to be have slowly begun canvassing across the quaint room space, quietly reminding the awoken Xaelan that this was to be the third time that he were greeted by such a sight; the absolute limit of Unzan's willingness to offer his crude and disrespectful presence any futher hospitality - assuming that his daughter's queer claims were not to be believed. He blinked slowly as he lay upon his bedspread, willingly allowing his thoughts to be carried in a slightly different direction. When the time came, just what end he would inevitably pursue this day even he did not know, and strangely, he could not find it within himself to offer much care to the matter. Either way, his fate would seem to have been sealed. What remained to be achieved before that end, however, remained uncertain to the Xaelan. ".....?" It was soon after his awakening that the stillness of that morning would find itself meeting with an unnatural disturbance. Curiosity need not have been a vice for the scene to have earned the man's attention, seeing him so far as to rise from his humble bedding and make his way closer to the doorway so as to interpret what little he may from the inconsistent muffles and shouts that could be heard emanating throughout the household. It wouldn't take long for him to learn of Unzan's fall, curious as it was to ponder just how such an event could have come about, though his reaction was anything but afflicted. It mattered little to him what fate had in store for even he who had near-threatened to bleed the Xaelan's throat only two days previous, nor what effects it might have upon the potential of a more prolonged visit on his part. He was, after all, neither an enemy nor an ally in his mind. His departure from this realm held an equatable meaning to that of leaf loosing itself from a dying tree. ...How curious it was, Nhogai would however note, that he would meet his end on today of all days. In a twisted way, it seemed darkly ironic that perhaps his daughter had indeed been right about his absence of objection in the end. "..........."
  18. I remember part of me secretly always wanting to RP with you because your character just looked nice(I guess that was why anyways). Now I'm scared.
  19. K'nahli: Ignorant teen miqo'te can't stop feeling sorry for herself and keeps pissing off those she cares about. Andre: Spoiled noble boy thinks it's a good idea to run away from his problems despite how guilty it would make him look. Alex: Affectless mercenary doesn't know how to have fun. Nhogai: Brutish, overdramatic Xaelan turns his life into a teen drama by planning to reward his own shortcomings with death. Naika: Savage Xaelan tracker thinks she can find one specific person on an entire continent by sitting in the Quicksand. Lulani: Childish Lalafel would literally do almost anything to win a special girl's good graces. K'taynu: Arrogant miqo'te just wants to show off to his estranged family of five years upon his return. Viera(hopefully): Eager Viera hopes a mentor and friend will eventually see him as more than a student and friend.
  20. I made a new Au Ra who will be a part of my other's story(and tribe) several days ago. I am a bit excited for what it will bring, haha.
  21. More scrappiness. I liked the idea of the more sheltered U tribe being rather impressed with K'nahli's aptitude as a huntress considering her age back when she was staying with them during her tribe's migration to resettle in Eastern Thanalan.
  22. I can't say that I can really think of any reason why people would RP in /say if they felt like moderating who is allowed to join their session. If I RP'd publicly then I admit I'd always be wary of anyone and everyone that wants to join just in case I don't have a taste for their character or their adherence to lore, but I'd still say it was very okay for them to jump in on any RP taking place on a channel dedicated to advertising your RP to everyone in the nearby vicinity. But as has been said many times already, Tells are the safest route. You'll surely find fewer people that are bothered by receiving them and many less potential difficulties than just assuming the right to join.
  23. Well sure, why not? w Ahahahaha, bang on. I guess he could have been really mean to some young miqo'te, it works. HAHAHAHA. Yes. This works too I suppose w

    Aliases

    This is how I feel. If it's a long-term alias then it makes the most sense, ignoring the fact that its arguably less frustrating than seeing a name that may never have relevance to you to begin with. Plus it disguises over the fact you are using a different name at all, whereas if people know right off the bat, then they may be more inclined to have their characters behave more unconsciously skeptical.
  25. They stand out to me because they do not occur naturally in-game, and for that reason, I don't particularly like seeing them. It feels uncreative and cheap. It may well be that the rating is what's holding the game back from the use of such terms, but somehow I have difficulty imagining such coarse language in a game like FF14. And finally, I've asked questions in the past where I was often responded to with comments saying that, while there are aspects of the game that correlate to real life examples and situations, it wouldn't be quite correct to make assumptions that other similarities exist without any evidence of that being the case. So, embracing that approach, I'm probably not going to canonically accept that those words exist in Eorzea personally - not that that would stop me from RP'ing with someone or anything.
