  1. This is me all over, especially with characters I haven't RP'd very much or if I have difficulty understanding one(*cough* Andre*cough*). Attempting in-game RP is worst of all since I have little time to react and sometimes, if there has been a bit of a pause, I feel obliged to speak again even if my character wouldn't really have anything to add -expecting the other person to continue. What's worse is that I am terrible with coming up with conversation irl. That is, with strangers/people I don't know well anyways. So anything more lenient toward carsual encounters or scenes make it difficult because even if my character is supposed to be amiable and chatty... I can't really force that. Clover Blake is my RP partner and at times I honestly don't know how or why she puts up with me. I can't write nearly as eloquently as her. I tend to make my writing sound forced and clunky by trying to compensate with over-description or technical description(like with movements when I am trying to make sure the read sees exactly what I do)... and that just doesn't work; hers on the other hand always sounds so natural to me. I just don't know how to do it.
  2. My new character; K'taynu Tia I'll be adding him to the tribal RP with the hopes of provoking more scenes and just generally getting involved more - something which is already substantially limited by the fact that my only character in there is a bit antisocial at the best of times.
  3. I assumed the winner would post the next one? ^^
  4. Another ten or possibly fifteen minutes had passed before K'nahli forced herself away from the arrows she had been carving to finally begin her reluctant search for K'rahto Tia. K'tasha never mentioned that she would be passing on the message to him in her stead, so it was safe to assume that he still didn't know. With a sigh, the girl pushed herself to her feet and headed toward K'iara's tent. Arriving there, she found a number of other huntresses nearby attending to their own daily rituals as though the day were any other. A few hushed whispers here and there, likely in relation to the previous night's events, could be hear scattered amongst the different groups - though otherwise things were mostly quiet at this hour. The same could be said for her targets' tent in fact, as neither K'iara nor K'rahto appeared to be anywhere nearby. K'nahli took a brief glance around the surrounding areas before a few questions aimed toward those nearby managed to reveal the direction in which K'rahto was last seen departing. With a gratuitous bow of her head, K'nahli left the pair of huntresses behind and begrudgingly headed in the direction they had pointed her. Of course he'd be out here alone. (......) Arriving to the summit of a small incline, K'nahli eventually found the boy with the aid of her heightened senses. At this point his scent in particular had almost become instantly recognisable to her. That uneasy sense of foreboding that usually arrived shortly before he would "grace" her presence was likely a result of which - as she had so cynically concluded. The girl drew to a stop for a moment, watching the tia, K'rahto, as he obliviously(or so it seemed) continued with his own personal training. Though she was unfamiliar with the boy's habits, she was not surprised to find that this was what he was up to all the way out here. She shared that sentiment after all, as opposed to the many others who preferred to train in groups, some even while remaining in the heart of the tribe's settlement. The girl's eyes remained fixed upon the tia for a moment of silent admiration. His movements were swift and precise, refined and well-rehearsed. In truth, it was almost fascinating to behold; at times even resembling a dance with it's fluid movements. That wasn't to say that she hadn't seen better displays by older and more veteran lancers in the past, of course, though perhaps it came as some slight surprise to the girl when compared against the initially, clumsy performance which he displayed when attempting to best her in the archery contest some moons prior. A short-lived impression, though an impression nonetheless. If she were to find but a single positive point, then at least they shared some interest. Exhaling softly as she prepared herself, K'nahli made her way down toward the boy - approaching from behind. "Oi.... K'rahto..." the girl called after the tia from a couple of yalms away, still out of direct sight. "The elders want you to come with me to Ul'dah. Today." she continued bluntly, already appearing as though she were about to leave once again - even before the boy could react to her presence.
  5. Welcome to the forum ^^ I hope you settle in quickly and make a lot of connections!
  6. "K'nahli? K'naaaahhliii ~" A voice calling from nearby alerted the young huntress. ".....?" a soft noise rumbled from the back of K'nahli's throat as her ruby eyes were lifted away from the would-be arrow shaft she had been carefully filing and fell upon the source of the voice. Another huntress, slightly older than K'nahli herself, was trotting up towards her with an expression that seemed to reveal an innocent sense of relief for having finally found her target. "Ah, K'tasha..." K'nahli acknowledged simply while relaxing her grip on both the knife and arrow shaft as the girl drew within talking distance, bringing with her a more pronounced smell and taste of the dry dirt that was so easily lifted beneath the light-footed girls swift feet. "I was asked to let you know that you'll be needing to head to Ul'dah. K'luha.... can't..." K'tasha explained rather plainly while appearing as though she were ready to quickly flee once again, as though it were not an unusual and everyday task that K'nahli had suddenly been given responsibility for. K'nahli's eyes, with lids still drooping low and lazily like half-drawn curtains from a lack of proper sleep the night before, grew a little wider as the girl passed on the elders' message. Ul'dah? The prospect of the task, though long, tedious and even dangerous, surprisingly didn't bother her so much; rather, she was just surprised for having been landed with it all of a sudden. After taking a second to let the message sink in, K'nahli nodded simply to the older huntress before returning to tending the small branchling in her hands, gliding the knife across it's length with a slower rhythm this time - being careful to intentionally tilt it away from herself so as to avoid the blazing glare that the morning sun was providing across it's gleaming, silver surface. "Is it fine to ask K'mih?" K'nahli asked of the girl rather naively, hardly realising what she had just asked even after saying it out loud. Even for something as seldom done as this, it was almost instinctual for her to expect or request K'mih's company. It was simply the way things had always been. In spite of her own behaviour, clearly it was still a habit too difficult to simply switch off. "Actually, they specifically said you were to bring K'rahto. Something about him could using the experience I think" K'tasha responded with little delay, her lavender eyes rolling up into their corners as though she were still trying to recall what they had told her only moments ago. The brittle dirt beneath K'tasha's feet continued to crunch softly yet repeatedly as the girl restlessly shifted her weight from one leg to the other. It was an odd sound to be hearing, like so many others; at least in the place they now call home - where home's comfort used to be recognised by it's blistering heat and the soft feeling of the malleable dunes and plains beneath one's feet. It was perhaps this idle thought that helped distract her, as yet again, K'tasha's words didn't seem to hold much weight with K'nahli, at least not immediately. Her arm continued to sweep, sleepily back and forth in a gliding motion across the branchling for yet another moment. "...K'rahto..." she hummed to herself quietly, her faint voice barely betraying a tone that suggested she sensed that something was amiss with that name within the context. Finally, her hand drew to a sudden stop - subtly dictating the moment that the meaning of K'tasha's last statement had finally hit her. K'nahli's brow furrowed ever so slightly at the news, but still she kept her eyes faced down toward the items in her hands, even as she moved to speak yet again. "That... won't work. Do me a favour, K'tasha, and tell them that it's either one of us or the other? We.. don't get along..." K'nahli responded hesitantly, her request - though serious - not sounding too akin to pleading. Rather, her biggest was concern was to not have to speak to the elders directly. Surely they wouldn't risk such an important venture on two young hunters such as themselves when they self-admittedly did not get along. Considering this, K'rahto not joining her on the trip, or even her simply staying with the tribe was practically a given - or so she concluded. "Sorry, I really need to be attending my own tasks..... and, I really wouldn't argue this one with them, K'nahli. After last night and all...." the girl replied with a little impatience. Her body language had suggested that she was eager to pass on the message and leave from the start, though that was to be expected from K'tasha. She was no better than K'nahli for waking up in the mornings, and even worse when it came to attending her morning tasks on time. Most of this, however, went unacknowledged by the ruby-eyed girl. ".....W-Wait... can't yo-....." K'nahli began to speak, this time with notable urgency while reaching an arm out toward K'tasha whom had already begun walking away. K'tasha responded with a puzzled(and impatient) look as she glanced back over her shoulder, only to see K'nahli's expression fall in defeat before K'tasha was finally dismissed by a subtle shake of the girl's head. That's right, K'tasha has no experience with Ul'dah either... and even were K'nahli to suggest bringing her along instead of K'rahto.... No, she was right. The elders would likely have no mood for such fussings. Even were it permitted, she would probably fair much better with handling the boring and silent company of K'rahto for a whole day rather than the scoldings of anyone else for even a minute. Her patience in that department had long since been worn rather thin. "..nnn..." the girl growled after a few moments with a mixture of anxiety and frustration as the grievous thought began to settle in with her. It didn't take the fact that she had at some point, unwittingly cut the branchling in half with a very, misguided slice of her knife for her to realise that today would be a very, long day.
  7. I'm not a very active RP'er and I'm uncertain if I'll even RP my mercenary character out in public(by that I mean with anyone other than my friend) really, largely down to shyness and also because it's not a character I want to imagine gets defeated rather easily which I assume might be an issue in this neck of the woods, haha. If that doesn't bother you then I'd definitely be interested in grabbing a spot ^^ My character is inactive outside of Cackpot logins for the time being as I am getting a new character to end-game, so if you do decide to send an invite then please send a tell to either: K'nahli Yohko or K'taynu Tia (If messaging me is a problem then no worries, I'll try to keep an eye out for a reply here!) And sorry for the trouble! ^^ ;
  8. Ughhh, I used to hate realising I was dreaming as a child(when you would often have nightmares) because it made no difference to me and I was still clinging to the fact that I could feel pain while in there. I couldn't wake myself up either!
  9. My characters don't have special abilities or anything of the like, but I guess K'nahli, if anything, would be more likened to fire since she is a nomadic, desert tribal(?) I say this only because you brought up elemental "resistances". Also her personality could be described as fiery, so bonus points for that selection.
  10. K'nahli really dislikes K'rahto Tia because he is so unnecessarily aggressive with her and she doesn't exactly have a lot of patience herself. Having said that, he openly expressed an unforeseen(from anyone) interest in her and on some level she finds that strangely comforting since it seems like no-one really seems to like her anymore.
  11. It was centred around the theme of muscular women and Au Ra not fitting that profile was of relation! Plus the OP seemed onboard with it so I think we'll be fine. (No-one tell the mods). Ohhh! I was meant to comment on something actually! Someone mentioned that they had this image of their Au Ra sitting on their companion's(male) shoulders..... th-that's what I had in mind! ;___; Not all the time of course, but I can just seem him doing it when she wants to be all astrologie-wogie with the sun, moon, stars... just generally wants to get a better view of surrounding terrain or even wading through a river. Shut up, it works.
  12. I think that's a little dramatic to be fair. Sure, the females are pretty... but so is practically every other race out there. I'm sure that you can just as easily make an "ugly" Au Ra like you can with existing races. To answer your question though, I can't say. I'm unsure if I'll even make a female Au Ra as it stands, and even if I do there's just no telling without having first seen a "more bestial" version. Possibly though. I do NOT like Khajit but Firran from Archeage would have been workable. The only reason my main is a miqo'te is because my friend suggested that I make a sister character for her alt when I showed interest in playing FF.
  13. Clover did upon seeing the females, I didn't upon seeing either but now we have an idea that I am REALLY looking forward to.
  14. Heeee, okay. Let's wind it back just a little please ^^
  15. It definitely would be. I was thinking of that only a few minutes ago and I'd certainly be happy to see a reversal with any new race in the future. I don't have a great deal of experience with MMOs to be honest so I'll believe you when you say that. I was speaking explicitly about the height difference though since I thought that was the main issue(with everyone, not just you).
  16. I was a little hesitant to talk more about Au Ra since this thread isn't really about them....But I'll take a moment to share a thought that hopefully doesn't make the thread go too off-topic. Interestingly, female roegadyn are the only gender/race with a height min/max higher than 4-5 inches. Female roegadyn have an entire FOOT in height range. While I love thick, muscled, badass women, I was anticipating Au Ra for their dragon/reptilian themes. I don't mind their doe-eyed looks as much as I do their height difference. I know some folks like it but I don't. They look like children next to the men. It's the same reason why some folks don't like lalafells pairing with other races. However, the fact that female roegadyns have such a huge height range gives me hope for a tall female Au Ra. So pumped for Benchmark! (And a big height range would give a little something for everyone too! ) It's still in line with the theme of the topic, so as long as Seriphyn doesn't mind then I think it should be okay. Not to discredit your own opinion and feelings on height of course, but I honestly don't see that much a problem with it personally - not in a personal taste sense, but it just isn't that significant even objectively speaking, at least to me. The females still make it to shoulder-height against the males assuming you don't use a taller and/or shorter female/male and that's totally fine with me. Why exactly should all of the genders in each race conform to a similar height criteria? It makes the Au Ra more different and unique that way. I completely disagree on the female looking like children though, haha... and even more that you would compare that to the situation with lalas!!!11!
  17. There will be naysayers no matter what side they went with. Au Ra were a highly anticipated race, it was in everyones' best interests that they make bother genders as appealing as possible to as many people as possible. Anyways, the height/build discrepancy is quite interesting in a way. It's reminiscent of certain types of animals/mammals and insects out there.
  18. To be fair, I think their reasoning is totally justified, as much as it may disappoint those with a taste for muscular/larger-framed women.
  19. If it's alright with you then I am a little curious as to why Thaumaturges and Black Mages can get away with using their own reserves as though they have an infinite supply whereas Conjurers/White Mages(?) would be in constant peril if they tried the same. Someone suggested that healing magic requires a LOT more aether than destruction magic but I don't see how that would make them viable in combat if they only had a limited amount of uses before they needed to rest for... however long. Unless they could actually last as long as a typical combatant had the stamina to continue fighting.
  20. Can anyone briefly explain to me why thaumaturges get away with this without resulting in several posts that go off topic? I've only gotten as far as the level 20 or 25 healing quest. Never really played a thaumaturge past five or six.
  21. It does take some effort, but it is possible. I'm actually amazed that someone like Coatleque(who, from a distance, I have always perceived as a law-abiding badass) actually managed to pull that off. Also, I was meant to add to my initial post that their emotes are REALLY scary at times. That said, so are those of the male highlanders.... to the point it makes you laugh.
  22. I don't really find roeg women attractive and highlanders are not very, high up my list personally, but that's not to say that I haven't seen any attractive ones and I LOVE seeing ALL races around the place anyways. Having said that, if it were a case of romance then I'd struggle seeing my characters with anyone outside of their race, let alone height differentials. I'm actually with Edvyn in that I've seen far more highlander women than midlanders. Also, the only time I have noticed an excess amount of miqo'te in comparison to other races was at Gold Saucer. I actually wish that there were far less miqo'te around because I find many of them really unattractive to begin with. More on topic though, I don't find either race intimidating and I don't think I have a character(other than a silly lalafel) that would either. Having said that, highlander women just don't look good in cutesy/overly-feminine clothes in my experience. I'm sure there could be exceptions of course! But.... at least in general, no.... the body type and pose just shout a whole different charisma to me.
  23. Things like that have always just seemed as an unnecessary means to justify in-game mechanics to me to be honest. Like: "Oh, the reason you return when you 'die' is because you use the last remnants of aether in your body to escape!1!!1" Aside from that, I think you'd get a pretty different reputation if it was found out that, not only you were immortal, but part of the reason you succeed where so many others could not hope to also because you get an unlimited set of attempts more or less. That's me anyways. Some people will argue against that kind of thinking saying something like "you can't pick and choose what lore to follow and call it anything but your own", but honestly they just try to pass anything off as lore when asked about it I think. The excuse for return mentioned above sounds a little more creative than: "That doesn't actually happen in 'real life' ".
  24. God damn it. Now I'm singing that part of the song (just with "White Mage" instead since it works better)! ;;
