  1. I am noticing some details I love looking at the new class outfits. Specifically that I didn't notice first time that they showcased their visor functionality! Machinist glasses can be worn either on your eyes or on your forehead! Astrologians have an optional veil with their hat!
  2. Oh in regards to something people were wondering earlier. It's pretty much indirectly confirmed that we get different horn styles if you look closely at Astrologian and Dark Knight previews. Some of the pictures have a male with slightly smaller horns, and a female with slightly larger, and also with different colours, but I can't tell if the colour is clan related. The skin tone on one with lighter horns does strike me as it looks like its from same palette as the au ra preview with darker horns though. One of the images I mean in specific is this one Note how it has the light colour, but a slightly larger style than the one with light horns in the Au Ra preview, a style more similar to the darker horns. It also struck me as that one of the clans has a skin tone similar to keepers of the moon in regards to lack of blush and pigmentation in the skin, and the other was more similar to the hyur / seeker palette. This picture looks more like the keeper colour palette to me. One of the male dark knight pictures also has black horns with blonde hair, so it doesn't seem to be tied to hair colour.
  3. While an admittedly smaller crowd than the US RPers, there's a decent size EU RP community. There's more on in the evenings, but in the mornings you'll also get some overlap with the oceanic community in my experience. And well... I don't actually know if there is much of a RP community on Cerberus at all, I've never heard of any particularly large ones outside of Balmung and Gilgamesh. That said, I mainly only frequent on here so I could easily be wrong on that.
  4. I don't really understand the notion that the height difference makes them not look like the same race. My parents are the same race and ethnicity. My mother doesn't even reach close to his shoulders in height. My mother is also the boss of a large company, generally in charge and dominant in every aspect of her life I have ever seen, and all around one of the most strong willed people I have met in my entire life up to date. She is in no way dainty or fragile. So I really don't find the height difference to make it look impossible for them to be the same race, or for that to be enough to determine that the females are weak and fragile. Height differences larger than that exists in our own species, so why is it unrealistic for them to in a fantasy one? I realise they're in the minority, but I think saying that they don't look like they belong to the same species is overdoing it. To post a picture again that Sylas did earlier, is anyone really going to look at this and say they cannot even realistically belong to the same species? Now, I would agree that this pose makes her look very fragile and dainty. Drawn back, on guard, typical pose for trying to trigger a protective instinct in people. I would say that the pose here on the left is pretty neutral, feminine yes, but not weak. The one on the right doesn't look particularly fragile at all, thats just a lady who is shorter than a man. Thats one of the wonderful things about FFXIV compared to a lot of other MMOs - we get different idle stances! Idle stances that can convey a different feeling from the character visually if we so desire! It should be obvious but this post is entirely in comment on the height difference, not on how beastly or human they are. I realise thats a problem a lot of people have with them, but I wanted to convey my thoughts on this point in particular.
  5. I know I am very late to the party on this one, but I have gained a sudden appreciation of grumpy manderville.
  6. I can upload things again! Wheeeeee! Doing the wedding quest! Finished the wedding quest! Here's hoping we get a slot next week! Loitering outside afterwards! I want to wear that moustache to the wedding! Though I've been instructed if I do there will be no wedding. And Marberry because he is the cutest of the A ranks! Love you, you big stabby tonton you. I gave up on most of my screenshots being in 4k after realising that most of them exceeded imgur's maximum upload size.
  7. I adore them. I'd consider changing to one if I believed I could afford a fantasia by then, but any money I can save up by then will probably go to paying for the expansion itself.
  8. I have character slots, but I always burn out on alts. I'm terrible with them. So if anything I'd kill main and fantasia it buuuut... I'm broke for the foreseeable future! Staying the same! Unless they have a hairstyle I really like.
  9. I honestly get this even more from the males than the females. If not for the horns, I'd have an extremely hard time telling them from Elezen at a glance. Heck, from the closeup we got in the video I genuinely had to take a double take to make sure it wasn't just the same face with the horns strapped on. That said, I really like the race. I personally put a lot of weight on run and walk cycles, and from the video we saw they have what I consider the best and most natural looking run cycles in the game, especially for the males. The females seemed a tiny bit off, but I have a hard time putting my finger on why. I think their center of mass might be off if accounting for the tail. Also while I don't really want to get too involved in the whole lazy or not discussion, from my admittedly limited understanding of the development cycle, adding a scaley skin mesh is not a very large job in comparison to what they did at all. The majority of the work would be in designing destinct animations, stances and basically anything motion related, or the parts where gear needs to be modified (the horns). On the basis of that alone I consider it a pure aesthetic decision, rather than one that has anything to do with laziness. It would have taken a relatively close amount of work to make them all scaley compared to how they are now. If they came out and the females had the same animation sets as the midlanders, then I'd agree, but from what I can tell from what we've seen of motion, they're distinctly different. To me the word "Lazy" would mean they took a route that required a significantly lower amount of work than the alternative, which they didn't. Making a more fierce female is not a significantly more taxing process than what they made, when what they made has a new model, skeleton, and animation set. Yes the aesthetic they went for was one that was meant to appeal more to the majority and less to a niche, thats a business decision, not a sloth one.
  10. The only 4k resolution screenshot I could upload before my so far week long internet troubles. I want to go on a picture spree everything is so pretty darnit.
  11. I would very much like to join the giveaway contest, please. Also these are wonderful.
  12. I want bunny boys. Not even going to pretend to be classy about it, I just think they'd be cute. Especially roegadyn ones. Love engineering classes about as much as I love rogue / thief type ones, so I'm hyped for machinist, OOCly anyway, probably won't RP one.
  13. Healed Sastasha in roulette today, had a tank doing 2-3 packs at a time, bard and BLM dps so should be fine... except they just refused to use AoE on anything. 3 packs? Single target it down. The horde at the end of second boss? Single target it down. That huge wave right before Kraken should clearly be the time for aoe but... nope. The bard consistently had to ballad so that I'd even have the mana to keep healing a that big pull for long enough that we could kill it that way.
  14. In regards to the popularity of Hyur, its worth noting that its easy for them to seem less common than they actually are, simply because of how drastically different their clans are compared to any other option. Highlanders and midlanders basically look like different races, whereas for many of the others, you'll commonly find people who can't tell which is which. Edit: Oh gosh, it was a while since I had updated this tab. I like bunny suits simply because I like silly hats I can wear outside of their intended outfits.
  15. I'd have a hard time justifying actually being a participant, but... I don't think I can stay away, even if it has to be as a spectator.
  16. If doing some speculation, I'd say a decent start for an eventual machinist would be with the Ul'dahn goldsmiths. Particularly the part that we don't interact with as goldsmiths ourselves, the ones that construct the mammets and wind-up toys. Not saying you can just come out of there and instantly be a machinist or anything, but its definitely a good place to start a tinkering career untill we know more. I took a small trip to the observatory to talk to the NPCs, but alas, I remember none of the questing here anymore so I cannot fill in anything that may be revealed through that. The little they did mention was: The observatory is under control of House Durendaire. Its main (and as far as I can tell only) purpose is to predict when the Dravanian will attack again. As might be obvious from the last point, they are able to do some sort of divination through astrology, and supposedly from the reports they give they can do this accurately. The furthest ahead of time concrete attack notice they've given, as far as I can tell, was for a fortnight, but Forlemont says "If we are to read our enemy's movements, we must be able to see ahead tens of years." Indicating longer is very much possible, though possibly less accurate. As I am terrible with anything magic related I try not to speculate too much on how to turn this into wizardry, but I'd say its at least safe to say it will tie into Ishgard.
  17. I've always said "Hi friends" at the start of my random queues, but after they added commendations response to it is so negative, getting accused of commendation whoring and such and such! I just want to have a friendly run, darnit, wether you like me making you my friends for a run or not. I appreciate starting my dungeons that way, I have been doing it for nearly a decade, and I refuse to accept being accused of just wanting commendations with rewards I have no interest in to begin with.
  18. The reason a lot of wedding dates aren't being given is simply... we can't register yet. Registrations for scheduling when the ceremony takes place opens Friday. I for one will be gone till after christmas so I'll miss the initial rush of ceremonies.
  19. Heads up for anyone else going for the marriage, registrations open on Friday not today, you can do the quest stuff now, however. Stings a bit for me since I leave tomorrow and was hoping to get it set up for a date after I get back before the system is clogged with reservations.
  20. The Gold and Platinum are paid for. The standard edition (assuming what they have said earlier is still the case) is free, but because it needs to schedule a time slot is still done through the mog station. I'm honestly quite upset at how much is in the mog shop, especially since its the dye I've actually been hoping for, but I'll refrain from angry ranting on here. More edits! I bought the platinum wristlet, they are tradeable. You can sell them. I know its tradeable in order to let people give to the one they want to marry, but still. Gold and plat cheaper than expected for marriage, at least. Platinum edition is still cheaper than a horse.
  21. Waiting on the end. Also fat cats are too cute. I need to save up for one.
  22. Plushies! Also I'm trying out being a cat again in order to settle before finally getting around to RPing on my main. Deciding wether to stay or change back.
  23. Combat screenshots may not be my strong point. Spoilered cause t9, though it reveals no story and... not much else either, I did it just in case.
  24. No timer, if you use them up they do not disappear, they get replaced with an empty version. Example of gourmet lunch before and after, pictures are not mine they're taken by Reiterpallasch and uploaded on xivdb!
  25. I found myself saying "You know, I want a hanging clock on the wall of the bedroom. An old style one, probably glade, with a pendulum." Turns out those exist, thanks square!
