  1. Please, for the love of the Twelve, tell me SOMEONE got a log of that! I was over on the bridge getting Dail'a ass handed to him, so I missed the whole thing :<
  2. I would most definitely be the hacker/programmer/computer-savvy sidekick, hidden off somewhere safe in order to help the protagonist do what he or she otherwise would be unable. The Non-Action Guy for sure, likely working Mission Control; the Otacon to a Solid Snake, or a Joker to the Normandy, of sorts.
  3. For me, it honestly depends on the character. While, yes, there are situations where it's really just idiotic from an OOC viewpoint to resist authority and the like, some characters ICly may have authority issues, or truly feel they are that much of a hardass. I have both sides of that spectrum, to be honest. Corelyn, if approached by an authority figure for doing something they are saying is illegal, will panic. Likely, she won't even have been trying to do anything out-of-bounds, but will immediately cease whatever it is she's asked not to do. She's not about to get into any trouble. Dail'a, on the other hand... well, he's a prick at times - a totally anti-authority, tough-guy prick who can and will fight anyone if it looks fun and the opportunity presents itself. If some authority comes at him for doing something illegal, he could do anything from shrug it off and walk away to sass the hell out of them, or, if he's being detained, fight. Even if he's faced down by a pissed-off gigas, the otherwise dwarfed miqo is going to fight. He wants to fight, and isn't particularly afraid of losing. It means nothing from me on an OOC level. It's just how the characters have been written. At the same time, though, I have seen a lot of people "playing" characters who aren't even engaging in RP. They're just there as griefers. At that point, when the line becomes too blurry to tell, approach them in whispers or OOC. If, at that point, they come out to be trolls (or even bad RPers unwilling to work with you - I've seen plenty that are beyond hope, sadly, in all mediums), warn them that what they're doing is disruptive to you, personally, block them, then report them. A;ways warn first - if you do, it makes for a better case when a GM reviews your report. Yes, it may cause people to become even more aggressive, but in the end, a short period of enduring their dickery is better when you find out action has been taken.
  4. Corelyn: Differences: - Corelyn is far, far, far more intelligent (than just about anyone, but that includes myself) - Corelyn has a far better ability to retain information without needing references - Corelyn has far more focus - Corelyn is female; her player is male - Corelyn is pansexual; her player is heterosexual - Corelyn dyes her hair and has piercings - Corelyn is in shape, to a degree - Corelyn doesn't have any physical disabilities - Corelyn served in the military - Corelyn has a massive phobia of the undead - Corelyn is not entirely human (Garlean pureblood being its own race, I assume) - Corelyn prefers sweet foods; her player prefers anything and everything, but mostly salty - Corelyn is far more self-centred - Corelyn is actually fairly attractive (hurhurhur); her player is a bum Similarities: - Both have an undying love of machinery, technology, and the like - Both wear corrective eyewear - Both are naturally blonde - Both have problems with anxiety and paranoia - Both make an honest attempt to do good - Both feel as though they are "more intelligent than a lot of people" - Both encounter a fair amount of issues because of the above - Both have a difficult time understanding strange customs, especially harmful ones - Neither like wasting time' - Neither are particularly good with prolonged social exposure without breaks Dail'a: Differences: - Dail'a is in incredible shape - Dail'a doesn't have any physical or mental disabilities - Dail'a is proficient in many forms of martial combat - Dail'a tends to be incredibly cocky and confident - Dail'a likes giving people fun nicknames - Dail'a has near-perfect vision and generally better senses overall - Dail'a is incredibly tough - can shrug off or withstand most heavy wounds - Dail'a is a wandering, homeless adventurer who lives out of inn rooms - Dail'a is a miqo'te Keeper of the Moon - fangs, tail, ears - all that to go with it - Dail'a has a very thick cockney - Dail'a doesn't care enough to learn what he views as irrelevant at the time - Dail'a can and will break things or hurt people when angered by them - Dail'a has a nearly unending appetite - Dail'a has no concern for consequences if he feels he can avoid them - Dail'a is covered in tattoos Similarities: - Both want to do the "right thing" - whatever that seems to be at the time - Both tend to be assholes and love messing with people - Both will cut it out the moment someone is legitimately upset - Both have an undying love of cats - Both utterly despise formalities, regarding them as fake and somewhat insulting - Both are fairly easy-going, choosing not to care about much - Both use the above as a mechanism to not worry about everything and everyone - Both have explosives tempers and will nerd rage, scream, yell and stomp around - Both love food and will eat damned near anything and everything - especially salty stuff - Both love it when things go "boom" - EXPLOSIONS! - Both have ridiculous and often immature or bizarre senses of humour - Both have blond hair and blue eyes - Both are incredibly sensitive to bright lights and high-pitched noises
  5. Corelyn has a deweaponized magitek bit she calls "Bit" that acts as a sort of security device and personal assistant. While it irritates her rather frequently with its constant nagging - often at her own request to do so - she is seldom seen without it. Dail'a loves, loves coeurls. When he was young, he wanted to breed and train them as mounts and combat pets. When he left his tribe, he abandoned that dream to become an adventurer, instead. He is afraid, due to his lifestyle, of keeping a pet, because he wouldn't handle it well if he wound up getting it hurt or killed somehow, given his lifestyle.
  6. Corelyn would likely be warned ahead of time due to her retooled magitek companion, Bit, and would very likely panic and, depending on what she has on her person, either dive for cover or activate some kind of magitek device to shield herself from the attack. She'd know full well why someone would want her dead: she's Garlean. She's a citizen of the enemy's land, a deserter, and a traitor to her formerly-beloved Garlemald. Both sides could just as easily gun for her. Dail'a, on the other hand, would likely be distracted, as he frequently is. While, being a miqo'te with rather sharp senses, he'd have at least some inkling as to something flying at him at a high speed, it wouldn't be until it was too late. He'd likely wind up taking it in a generally non-fatal area, then immediately proceed to scream all manner of curse words before snapping the shaft and getting ready to murder the hell out of something.
  7. Corelyn is most frequently either in her workshop in Camp Bronze Lake, tinkering with who-knows-what, off on a research/salvaging expedition, asleep, or studying from any number of tome, books, you name it. Dail'a, in those off-times, is most often just taking jobs and leves from the Adventurer's Guild, bounties from the companies or authorities, or generally just out fighting things. He could also well be asleep, since he loves his naps and could generally sleep any time, day or night.
  8. Dail'a, while still only 49 and working his way through the MSQ yet, will be grabbing DRK eventually, and, should I decide to go anything more than "asshole with a big bad sword," which is likely because I've always liked shadow/dark magic that isn't inherently evil, wiull be doing the motion-based power. Granted, I still know very little about the class itself because I have little interest in actually doing it on Corelyn, who is, for all intents and purposes, my main and sole 60 (the only one being MCH since I have problems playing jobs/classes that aren't relevant to the character). But as it goes on down the line, I may think of doing more with Dail'a with DRK stuff because it's right up his alley. Be it through coming up some soulstone or winding up possessed of the power in some way or another, I'm sure I'll figure out an interesting story for it. Might even occur through some FC RP I've been in of late.
  9. Well, uh, welcome aboard, and I hope you enjoy your stay in Eorzea!
  10. I'm a programmer - technically a Quality Assurance Analyst - working with the continued creation, upkeep and all sorts of fun things for an application that tests a slew of different websites as they are produced and updated, which emulates user input at speeds no human could ever dream of managing, in every conceivable way to test every possible thing in the websites that would need tested. It's pretty fun, usually. There's some drudgery to it, but more often than not, it's very engaging.
  11. Corelyn tends to be very witty, and sometimes dark. She is very dry and sarcastic with better friends, and can sound downright mean at times when snarking at people she trusts to know she is being humourous. Dail'a, on the other hand, loves puns. He uses wordplay and downright horrible jokes most fo the time. He straight-up rips off CSI Miami jokes, and I have a macro where he actually puts on a pair of sunglasses for those moments. He hasn't figured out who it is that screams "YEAH!" off in the distance, though I'm tempted to write a non-canon Hildibrand one-shot for it if I get bored enough someday.
  12. That's brilliant! I love it! I will most certainly start doing this in the future, and will spread the word! =-D
  13. Corelyn is a highlander because she is technically Garlean and that's the closest to a Garlean pure-blood you can get with player models. Why Garlean? Corelyn is a character I have in all universes, in all games. She's my baby and I love seeing how her story will go in different worlds and settings. She's always the super tech-oriented genius, and where better to be from than the nation built on tech? I also like the dynamic of playing a character who is a race that is generally hated and viewed as "bad." For that little bit of "don't judge a person by their people" kind of thing. Dail'a is a bit simpler than that. I just wanted a miqo. =-B
  14. Corelyn... hm... Corelyn is a difficult choice. In all likelihood, if faced with tempering, she'd likely shoot herself before it could happen. However, if no choice is given, really, it'd probably be something like Alexander. With all that wondrous technology, she'd want to preserve it and learn from it. Dail'a, on the other, hand, would be easy: Ravana. TO LIVE IS BUT TO FIGHT!
  15. I had that too, but my alternate use of the wiki is to kinda remind myself of Vachir's past and traits etc. Like, if I can't remember his twin sister's name, I can just look it up on his wiki. I never thought of that! I keep notes using notepad, which isn't ideal! I do the same thing. I also just have a massive information obsession, so I like to have somewhere to keep all my information or have a nice place to reference people if they ask a question about my character(s). I don't much shy away from keeping more "confidential" stuff on there because it amounts to a test for others for me. With that knowledge at your fingers tips, are you still honest and good enough with your character to keep meta out of it? If not, well, then I likely wouldn't have wanted anything to do with you in the first place. If so, great! Maybe some of that information will actually benefit people in starting RP. I also have a habit of combing through others' wikis for layouts and features I find aesthetically pleasing and ganking them for my own use. ; I am always working on Corelyn and Dail'a's wikis to improve them or add more info.
  16. I do believe they said something during the last live letter about friends being able to go in on housing together. I don't remember exactly what, but it would allow people to look for housemates, etc. Not an apartment, per se, but it could allow for expansion from there, I suppose.
  17. Corelyn believes that the glass is not, unless engineered to be so, predisposed to being half-full, half-empty, or otherwise. It is a glass, and it contains a volume of liquid relative to the amount originally put into it following its empty state, and that volume is often modified and seldom static unless left to sit. She doesn't know why you're asking her such strange questions. Dail'a doesn't care so long as it isn't fucking empty. It's not empty, is it? Time to get more, then!
  18. Corelyn and me? I'd probably be intimidated as hell at first. I could probably provide some fun conversation at the least, though. Dail'a? To be entirely honest, that'd be disastrous. We'd get into so much trouble together.
  19. yj8Xpdx60Ws It's dangerous for me to listen to Muse anywhere but in my car. >.> It's really hard to not just start belting out songs. I need to do more driving so I can sing and not bother people.
  20. Have a very concerned-looking Core, very much out of his element... in a big crowd in downtown Cleveland.
  21. That was a great lot of fun. I'm glad I finally got one of my characters (Dail'a) involved. Hopefully I'll have a decent enough connection when I visit my parents this weekend to participate again! =-D
  22. Ha! Easy. I've had this on Corelyn's wiki from day one Science - Two Steps From Hell 2NJTQzhqidk Bonus: Combat and heroic moment music! Combat: Cannon in D Minor - Two Steps From Hell RKmw9oS__MM Heroic Moment: United We Stand, Divided We Fall - Two Steps From Hell Z9RfGPMf0BY Dail'a, on the other hand, I had to do a little searching for... Mustang Nismo - Brian Taylor ft. Slash UEDJG0mfGh0 Bonus: Combat music! Narrow Escape - Celldweller AUZibAJdK-Y
  23. Corelyn is a Garlean engineer, and a machinist. She's been trained in combat with gunblades and all manner of firearms, and uses more ceruleum-based tech than a normal machinist (essentially the aetheroconverter would be a ceruleum battery pack of sorts instead). She prefers firearms, but can certainly hold her own in close combat. Dail'a is a jack of all trades, master of none, when it comes to weapons and combat styles. He's basically a multi-weapon-proficient berserker in combat, though he gravitates toward bladed weapons - mostly swords. Generally, though, if he can hit something with it, it's worth using.
  24. It's pretty easy for Corelyn: get a zombie (any undead, really, but zombies have the biggest effect) to touch her. She will immediately lose her shit and either attempt to gun down anything that moves in a blind panic or slip into a catatonic panic mode. For Dail'a, it's pretty difficult since he's usually fairly easygoing and it's generally difficult to rustle his jimmies, as it were. However, if one manages to find and push his buttons enough, he's got a really quick temper with the things that do get under his skin, and will flip his shit on people pretty quickly for angering him.
  25. Despite her tendency toward "refined" things, if Corelyn gets to drinking, she's a silly, flirtatious, and generally loud, boisterous type. This may have gotten her into trouble once or twice. Dail'a has a soft spot for coeurls and kittens. He finds them absolutely adorable and the point to which he adores them is silly.
