Just some advice to get the most of of this, which may seem obvious. 1. Watch the/a video, maybe read a guide. Understand the main mechanics and your role. 2. Use Duty Finder (or Party Finder) to try out the dungeon. Don't expect a win to start with, just get a feel and add some experience to that theory from the video. So when we run you at least know some basics and we don't spend 20min explaining or waiting for you to watch the video. 4. Come along expecting to wipe, discuss, learn and progress. 5. Smile, enjoy.. something, something, cake! As Ilwe says, iLevel is not important. I would say anything i90 or above is more than suitable. What is important is to bring your learning face... and cake.

Sure I will let Ilwe'ran know.. better still reply to that post with what you want. We cleared Levi and Thornmarch and are looking at T5. Balmung's Finest I would describe as a general PvE LS, there is no set raids as such but people do ask/share and group for things like Roulette, ST, Frontlines and also T5- learning.

I'm an EU player in a tiny EU FC, and I find you have to live with the time difference which does have some ups as well as downs. Also as we RP it also makes fitting in PvE a compromise in the end. Some suggestions that may help some PvE for RPers LS "Balmung's Finest" - this is active and people are on around the clock LINK Friday 8pm UK time we (my FC) run a PvE session, it's just a few hours but we have space for four LINK. Maybe other FC could do similar and we can have a LS for small FC PvE help? Plug: RP wise most LS are dead. I have started one after saying that we should and it is still small, but all are welcome. My character (Nebula) being a witch and beleving in such things, gave her love (Ilwe'ran) a wish that he had to use before midnight. She then granted that wish to the best of her ability. The consequences of that wish have provide ongoing RP for months. Ask Ilwe if it was worth it

*flails into the thread with hope* and cake. I'm up to connections with others. Can I suggest.. We setup a LS for something like this, I have some free slots. We come up individually, or help each other, with some sipmple reasons to meet. Much better than hanging around in bars. We share and establish RP places and inject some feeling/character. We think about some mini events that bring folks together. Maybe I'm over thinning this, maybe my expectations are high. But I would like get wider, qiality , RP action. Edit - thinking on this I'll start a LS for what I am thinking.

All very scholarly.. I would offer an alternative based on Chakra and I understand the Monk has some elemental sides? These are the normal colours but we could switch in the FF colours in Thought (Spirit)/Violet - Enlightenment/Spiritual/Wisdom Light (Luminescence) /Indigo - Intuition/6th Sense Ether/Blue - Creativity/Openness/Healing Air/Green - Love/Warmth/Forgiveness Fire/Yellow - Willpower/Anger Water/Orange - Sexuality/Needs/Desire Earth/Red - Survival/Root/Base I do use this as the basis for my characters alternative view on things, and use of crystals to heal by balancing the body's flows etc..

Faye, I have come to the same conclusion. I think a lot has shifted to FC rather than LS chatter. Also I think the "daily" nature of things promotes a lot of solo/pug play rather than interaction. Most FC also seem to be closed and not have an open LS option. Not an issue except it pushes segregation. I'm not sure of the answer as a few LS that have or still do address this space seem very very quiet. At one point I remember having to drop PvE LS to fit RP ones in, now I have more free slots than not. Balmungs Finest is active though PvE focused and my own FC has a small LS of company friends that does wake up at some times.

I like progress and growth on a character, and I shape them by their IC experiences since I started playing them. So for me the Time and Age represents a dilemma/fudge where the in game time is set but my character may age faster due to events we RP. So I generally have a feel/guess as to how long seems to have passed for them, compare it against the game time and compromise. Nebbula started in her late teens, a brash and bright girl.. and is now early twenties, married with children. Which probably represents 5years of ageing/growth. The thing is there are events/RP that happened IC behind that it is not just a number picked out of the air. I think so long as you can represent the ageing and that people recognise the IC background then it should be fine.

Sort of related I hope.. I have used the area at the back of Lost Hope in Central Thanalan as an "illegal" plant growing setup. Go look you will see what I mean. I have one RP angle that is "off-book" Pirates smuggling things into Ul'dah to avoid any duty

I find the whole travel-locked side of RP a pain, so I think rapid transit (eg Teleport or similar) helps with RP flow/opportunity. Clearly the crystals are in the lore and the game, so I also like to accept that as the way to travel. It is better than making up some non-lore way. In game I do RP that I walk to a crystal to be able to teleport. I'm not that keen on the TPing from or to an open space. Also when my character arrives she is always disoriented and happy her fluffy tail made it in one piece (I have a little macro).

I'd be interested.. definitely. Maybe widen it to street entertainment?

I'd find an RP connection you can use.. Did they have some links and friendship with some Archers? Maybe they are sent to study other forms of magic, like Archaists.. or go to Limsa as an ambassador and just happen to try and "when in Rome Limsa" Why you would put on lots or armour or hit people with your hands may take a bit more creativity, but all is possible.. a legacy weapon, a pastime, loosing a bet, self defence, guild exchange etc.. My own character was kicked out of the Archers, made her way as a bard in the backwaters, then had that strange talent to heal looked at by the conjurers.. who sent her to the sylphs.. who sent her to get a grounding in all forms of magic. So she is today a kind of hedge witch offering alternative remedies with just enough knowledge but not that many book smarts. Oh and she can still turn out a good song. I put other combat down to the eclectic life of the working travelling bard.

Back in the day.. There were no telegraphs, or aggro indicators.. Life was simple and deadly, but you learned what killed you and what didn't. You watched the boss for his movements which I suppose is more direct IC than a telegraph. Over the years add-ons, mods and evolution made things easier and the fights got more complex. However if you look in FFXIV at the bosses, often there are actions associated wth their telegraphed attacks.. and some with attacks that aren't telegraphed that you can still avoid. I'm not sure I answered anything, I hope if I did you managed to dodge
