  1. I'm got a 45/100 and the quiz says I'm not privileged at all. I'm a white heterosexual male and according to the rest of the internet I should be ashamed of all the privilege that's just oozing from my pores.
  2. I use /say when my character is speaking and only use quotations when she is quoting something. I see other people using them because they need to separate their spoken dialogue from their non-dialogue descriptive... thingies (I don't know what you call it). It looks kind of like they are writing a story. I don't actually do that. As far as I'm concerned, that's what /em is for.
  3. I finally bought that new computer I've been wanting and spent the weekend setting it up and downloading games from my Steam library as well as various MMOs. I can run FFXIV on it at max settings with little to no frame rate drops!
  4. I got stranded here last winter. When I arrived it was cold but clear. Then we got hit by a blizzard that dropped close to a foot of snow in about 3 hours. I had to spend the night in the office then work the next day with no shower or clean clothes.
  5. Wow. This is probably the most well-thought out character development I've ever seen. It even has a graph! As for your last two questions, I can really only answer the first one. I like to preface it by saying that I'm not exactly normal. Some behaviors that bother me: -When people touch me without my permission. Be it a friendly slap on the back or a light tap on the shoulder, I generally feel angry when others touch me. It can be difficult to control. Maybe your character can use something like that. -I tend to be territorial and I dislike it when people come into my perceived space without invitation. It may be my office, apartment, or simply a chair in a corner. Perhaps your character could have a special item they carry with them or keep in their home. When others touch it or show too much interest it could cause her to display a quick burst of irrational anger. In addition, maybe this will help you find examples of the type of character you are wanting to play:http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Yandere These characters often have facades of normalcy but are completely psychotic underneath.
  6. Some that I've heard: -sodding -shite -arse -swivvin -bloody butt monkey -by Ramuh's beard I also once heard "by Garuda's windy c*** (word censored for politeness sake). I wouldn't recommend using that one though. I don't know the context of the situation, but wow.
  7. For me, it depends on the severity of the injury, the person doing the healing (are they a conjurer, scholar, or astro), their skill and experience, the spell used, etc. Its all very complicated though Cecilia often doesn't need to be healed as she largely avoids conflict. Besides, she can heal herself.
  8. I never really liked the aesthetic of them. I don't much care for the big muscular types. I've always preferred the more petite races like Midlanders and Miqo'te. There is also those weird flat noses they have. The closest I've ever come to playing a Roe was experimenting with them in the character creation screen.
  9. The scholar archetype is actually my favorite one to play and most of my characters are scholars, especially Cecilia who is a Scholar and a scholar.
  10. It's also important to note that, while some magic can be cast through pure force of will, the majority of spells require actual vocal incantations to be fully realized.
  11. Currently listening to the complete works of H.P. Lovecraft on audio book. Each story has a different reader.
  12. I thought that was a non blood drinking youkai, akaname, who licked filth from bathrooms and people. That's a different youkai. The vampire prefers to run about at night and shovel whatever nasty things it finds into its mouth. This often includes bugs and fecal matter, but will attack and drink the blood of unwary travelers. Also, they are almost always women.
  13. Cecilia would hand out caramel apples hoping the apple portion somewhat negates the unhealthy caramel coating.
  14. It sounds like that influenced the Twilight series... I know Japanese vampires like to eat shit, but even they wouldn't touch that abomination of literature/film.
  15. Did you guys know that in Japanese mythology, vampires survive more by eating fecal matter and insects than blood. They do drink blood, but most often prefer a nice tasty shit sandwich.
  16. But it is, just not in the way initially presented. A wretched, sub-human creature that subsists on the essence of innocent beings falls right in line with what we currently know of Voidsent. As plenty of others mentioned, Haukke Manor visits the concept slightly. The similarities to Elizabeth Bathory are not to be dismissed, and it isn't like she caused myths or legends or anything with her actions. The most interesting part about that is despite the allusions to vampires, she was also accused of being a werewolf.
  17. Vampires are so passe. Its all about the eldritch abominations now. If people are going to start running around claiming to be vampires, them my characters are going to start worshiping Cthulhu: "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn."
  18. I want Red Mage and Samurai released in the next expansion. I want Red Mage to be a healer/support class or pure DPS and I want Samurai to be pure DPS. NOT TANK PLS. I hate tanking and I'm not very good at it so I would hate to be locked out of these classes because of that.
  19. I sometimes do foreshadowing, though admittedly, it largely for my own benefit. For the most part though, I don't bother, as often times I haven't actually fully written a character's plot or simply can't make up my mind.
  20. It's really all a preference in style and I don't really see the point in arguing over it. I feel like this thread is becoming dangerously close to having a mod step in.
  21. I usually try to write as if the actions are happening in the now. Present tense I guess. I avoid accusations of godmodding by giving clear indication of my character's intent as well as leaving the result open for the other person to put in. For example: "Cecilia makes a tackle at (insert character name here)'s legs in an attempt to trip them up." This leaves it open for the other player to decide if my character succeeds in her attempt.
  22. Something that flies. A songbird, maybe or perhaps a golden eagle.
  23. Because I don't have the room in my small apartment for a desktop. Otherwise I would get one instead of a laptop. To be honest, I'm starting to reconsider getting a laptop and just continue being computer-less. I haven't had a personal computer for about 2 years now so I'm not really hurting for one. It just seems like way more trouble than it's worth. Thanks anyway everyone.
  24. Ok, you have caused me to reassess what it is I plan to play. I guess I wouldn't need it to be soley used for gaming as I have consoles already that fill that role. What I'll likely use it for is mostly MMOs like the ones you listed as well as some games from Steam. I do want to be able to run these games on the highest settings and have it run smoothly.
