1. It's like a book light! Now you'll be able to read your book in bed! If you can see the text after the paper that glows like the sun melts your eyeballs. Ed is already blind in one eye do we need to make the situation worse?!
2. Hit the mini-cactpot on my 2nd attempt! You just don't bloody learn, do you, Developers? We've been complaining about the Nexus FX EXPLOSIONS since their inception, and then you do this. Were you not listening? At all? Now the ability to dye the weapons is totally irrelevant, because we won't be able to see the difference in colour underneath the Michael Bay levels of unnecessary special FX. Needless to say, when I get a Zodiac of my own, I'm glamouring the damn thing so I don't have to deal with such ugly smoke and giant rune rings. I mean, really, how is Edgar expected to read his Tome with that glowing in his face?
3. Are you really surprised considering XIV's country of origin and aesthetic appeal? There are actually very few moments in XIV that have an aesthetic that strikes me as being very anime-like, most of the game plays out more like a political drama (which tends to be more western) with brief moments of generic action that could easily be from a western or eastern inspiration. The only scene that comes to mind as being very anime-like was when you defeat Lahabrea and all your friends appear behind you at the last moment to give you their strength. I don't think you can get more anime than that scene without actually being an anime. What you're talking about isn't "anime-like" it's camp. Camp can be found in anything and is not a trait inherent to anime. There are plenty of serious, politically charged anime out there that have zero camp in them whatsoever, they're just on the edge in the current zeitgeist of anime production. And you're wrong about XIV not being anime in aesthetic, it's extremely anime in aesthetic. The style is a unique one thanks to the greatness that is Akihiko Yoshida, but it's still very anime. I've never heard the term "camp" before so I guess I'll have to take your word on it and assume it means something, not actually sure what you're referring to as being "camp" though. AS far as the aesthetics of the game, we'll just have to agree to disagree because I definitely don't get an anime vibe from most of the game with a few exceptions. Okay guys. Your discussion of camp and the presence of anime in FFXIV is completely off-subject in a thread about describing character relationships with silly gifs. I'm not saying it's not a topic worth discussing, but it is not a topic worth discussing here. Please take it to another thread, if you must. I understand I'm no moderator, but I'm fairly certain my argument is legit. Let's stay focused, people. Back on track.
4. The Birthday Massacre. Chibi, the lead singer, has such a haunting voice, and is capable of switching between melodic verses to, as demonstrated in their Funland Mix of Last Spine Down's song Last Daze, deep, violent growls that make her sound possessed. Last time I heard such a vocal range was with Flyleaf, in their song I'm So Sick. My favorite part, though, has to be their lyrics. Leaving Tonight is probably my favorite in this regard, just because of the descriptions of the protagonist of the song. She's out of the light, she thought it'd be safer She said I wanna go home Eyes turn grey like her face in the paper She's out of the light, she doesn't remember She said I wanna go home Face turns white like a sky in December I get chills every time, man. For examples, I'll post their Neo-Goth remix of their track Video Kid, and of course, Last Daze (Funland Mix). Next on the list is an odd one. I Heart Sharks. The name alone is odd enough, until you consider the band is made up of German, British, and American band members. At present, they are signed to a record label in Berlin, and have only released two major albums between 2011 and 2014. I fell in love with these guys when I heard their songs Monogamy and Wolves (Wolves being their first single in 2010). Monogamy is an odd one, one I'm still trying to work out the overall meaning of, but its catchy beat and shiver-inducing chanting of make it stop in the bridge between the verses and chorus have me listening to it over and over. Wolves...Let me put this simply. If you can resist dancing to this track when the chorus kicks in, you are made of stronger stuff than I. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4fgNwSePNQ
5. "Funerals, Starscream? This is bad comedy."
6. I wish we interacted more than me just bleeding on her hands. If you only knew just how deep the rabbit hole is for these two.
7. I suppose if Edgar and Delial ever had a moment, ever, it would probably have to play out like this, with Edgar taking a beating and/or stabbing in the process. Delial is not easy to engage with, let alone hug. Unless you get her drunk, I imagine. That might loosen up the nerves a bit. A man can dream, I suppose. Curse you Cuideag for making Delial so damn likeable.
8. I'm particularly upset over this as he was the voice actor for the main antagonist of the Kingdom Hearts series, Master Xehanort. KHIII has just barely started development, and now they need to find a new VA who can do the character justice like only Leonard could at the time. FUUUUUUUUUCK.
9. "I'm Godbert Manderville, and this is my favorite thread on the RPC."
10. It looks like it, too. I tried to take a screenshot, but trying to do so (mainly just getting close to and LOADING THE PEOPLE) slowed my game so much I thought my PC was going to burst into flames.
11. Devil's advocate is my favorite game. Praytell, did you have your hopes up things would be different this time? You know the definition of insanity, right...? If I say yes, that would mean I've been hoping they'll change this time, which would make me insane. If I say no, you could say I'm bluffing for the sake of not being called insane, which would make me a liar, and possibly insane. So you know what, I'm just going to answer with the following: Potatoes.
12. The good news: MANDERVILLE GOLD SAUCER- The bad news: -IS ALWAYS CONGESTED AND YOU CANNOT VISIT IT. I understand, SE, that there is such a thing as server congestion. I understand that problems come up. What I fail to understand, SE, is how you can go patch after patch and never once anticipate that the worst is going to happen. THE WORST CASE SCENARIO is what happens every single time, but instead of preparing for the worst, you prepare for the best. You and every other company that owns an MMO does this. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Get with it, already.
13. All these special weapons... No new books for Scholars and Summoners. That isn't a fault in the screenshots, I checked the lodestone. They lowered the cost of Ruin/Ruin II and that's it. Square, are you trying to tell us book-readers you hate us? Because that's the vibe I'm getting.
14. Li poked me in game, and I always enjoy it when someone I don't know that well on the RPC finds me and is all "Hey you're that guy!" Puts a big goddamn smile on my face and brightens up my day. x3 Ahem. A little slow, there. Aya is probably one of the sweetest people I know on the RPC, and her character in-game is somehow even MORE SO. Sometimes she reminds me of myself when I was still employed; that endless, cheery demeanor that makes everyone smile no matter how bad their day has been.
15. OOC: Edgar is a love letter to the character of the same name, from FFVI, Edgar Figaro. Both have issues with their lineage, and both have a sort of royal-sounding, absurd name. The last name Gandervalt is an ad lib on my part. It just sounded fancy. IC: Edgar Von Gandervalt is an alias created by Edgar to fit in with his adoptive parents. Edgar's biological name is a construct of Keeper/Seeker naming conventions: Z'sira'a Tordone. He was given the name by his mother, Sira, who sought to spite his father, an abusive monster named Z'tal who dreaded the thought of his annual violations of Sira producing children who would one day surpass him or destroy him in vengeance for their mother's suffering. In naming him partly after his father, Sira was essentially reminding Z'tal he would never escape his mistakes. Edgar has since looked upon the name with some disgust; with the knowledge he has gathered, as far as he is concerned, he'd rather not be named after either, let alone both.
16. Edgar is pretty easy, I think...Don't ask me about Koporo, though. Haven't decided on him, just yet. kcfCtIg3nUg
17. DPS queues. Spell speed on a SMN.
18. FITE ME. Yves-senpai can have many kouhai, BUT THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE BESTEST KOUHAI. (::quietly bribes Rivienne with artwork to win her favor too.:) MWRAWR! Ensuing fight:
19. Illwe is so damn cute, and him and Nebs are probably one of my favorite couples I've seen!
20. Stream time is over. Thanks to those who showed up! Here's my finished sketch of Jajara Jara! As usual the scanner was not kind. The actual picture on paper really looks better than the scan.
21. Time for streaming! Let's finish up last session's drawing, shall we? TO THE ART CAVE, BATMAN!
