1. The Duty Finder. THE DUTY. FINDER. I know this thing is made of spite and hatred because it actively fails to perform the function listed in its very name. And not just for DPS. I've had situations where I've been waiting up to 15-45 minutes as a TANK just to get in an instance. Burning hatred for this piece of engineering may vary, depending on what it is that warrants the dungeon crawl. I find that the current things making this a nightmare-fueled engine of misery, at least for me, are the Animus tomes. However, I am well aware it will only get worse from there, so don't lecture me.
2. Roen is banned for...For... Having too damn cute of an icon...Uguu... DON'T JUDGE ME. BANNED
3. Clio is too damn beautiful for this ugly game! She throws off the precious balance! BANNED!
4. *Quietly chants "Under the Weight" in OP's ear*
5. Koporo's theme below. Just picture the guy walking across the Sagoli as this plays, and you'll get why I chose it.
6. Ed has a bit of flintlock training from his time in the Maelstrom. Perhaps he could teach Merri how to shoot straight?
7. Let me help you identify what people are talking about, then, since I'm pretty sure you only skimmed the essay in the OP if that's what you got out of it (because that doesn't make sense at all, at least your suggestion afterwards about naming girls after boys. Are you suggesting that girl names are inherently bad? That the author thinks girl names are inherently bad?) The problem the author of that essay and others have is that to them it seems to them that people are far more critical of female characters, overly so, and are more likely to pin the term Mary Sue to an overpowered female character than they are to an overpowered male one, and that people are also more critical of the author's motives behind creating that female character than they would be of an author's motives behind a male character When the author went on the tangent about the gendered names, their point was that the only time we seem to use a feminine word by default is when we're talking about bad characters. It has the implication that most bad characters are female if you aren't careful. Does that make sense? A lot of sense, actually, until I decide to dig into it. So here's my two cents. The idea that Mary Sue insinuates some sort of hatred towards the female gender, or that female characters alone can be terrifyingly bad, is just wrong. Not long after Mary Sue was coined as a term to describe a specific character mold, and not just the name of a dumb protagonist of a poorly written fanfiction, we came up with a male analogue that meant the same. Whether you call it Gary or Marty Sue, or even John Doe, there exists a term whose mere existence completely contradicts the perceived bias towards women in the bad characters department. These self-indulgent special snowflake characters who always get their way are universally bad whether they are male or female. We're not implying bad characters are usually, or even have to be female. If I concede anything, Mary Sue did come first, but that's just because of timing, and not malicious intent. Mary Sue would still exist if Marty came first. because stupidity is not prejudiced. If I'm finding anything offensive, right now, I'd say it's the Tumblr post. The question it asks seems loaded, designed to generate as much controversy and hatred as possible, and when broken down, it's quite opinionated. What does this remind me of? Oh right. Troll-posting. But that's just a hunch. Serious or no, this Tumblr post makes me sigh and shake my head.
8. The only thing remotely "sexist" I can identify from this thread and the tumblr post about the term Mary Sue is that Mary is a girl's name. I want you all to consider this: If that's enough to warrant the title "sexist", should we be naming girls Dave and the like to avoid it? "Hey Delial, your name is Steve now. You know, so you can be empowered and all." Excuse me while I wait to be stabbed.
9. This subject is being given more thought than it deserves, in my opinion.
10. I have plans for Edgar, whose main profession is Summoning and understanding/exterminating Primals (something he does not do alone, before you ask), to travel to the lands revealed in 3.0 for the purpose of dismantling the entity Alexander. There are few better qualified for the task. Will he die in the process? Will he be tempered? We shall see. Kopo's fate is more...In the dark. Depending on what happens in 2.5 part trois, he may lose his title as Sultansworn, as there's no guarantee the title will even continue to exist when Nanamo Ul Namo makes her announcement. If it does, he may continue as is, but if not, he may possibly become a Free Paladin or sell-sword to give himself a sense of purpose. The way things are looking, Ed won't change much, but Kopo's future could be kinda bleak for the poor guy. It makes me sad, honestly.
11. ya just wanna be tossed over a shoulder and carried off, don't ya? ;3 ...Yes. ;_;
12. My adoration for Femroes actually bleeds into Edgar's personality ever-so slightly. He has a natural tendency to become infatuated with women who are much taller than he is.
13. Lucid dreaming is a type of dream-state in which the dreamer is in full control of themselves within a dream, fully aware of the fact that they are dreaming, and can actively influence the dream environment. Instead of merely spectating the events going on, the Lucid dreamer can interfere with them and change them.
14. I apologize, a lot came up. I've been really busy and FFXIV has not been on my priority list.
15. Jaques looks so serious all the time, until he's paired with Vaughn, where he looks to be a very cuddly bunny~
16. I often join an FC on the pretense that they can balance Roleplay or Endgame content, because they took the time to highlight that their FC is both RP focused and Endgame in the FC info, only to discover that they either A.) Are not great at Roleplay (I don't want to say bad, but...) B.) Are not great at Endgame. C.) Do a lot of RP but rarely do any endgame content because the RP gets in the way. D.) Do too much endgame content. This sends me running to the hills. Another thing that bothers me is when a select few FC members themselves are complete and utter assholes. And a lot of the time, they're assholes with a history that is well known by the RP community, but somehow tolerated by the rest of the FC. I'm not talking misdemeanor, either; consistent, brutish, dick-ish behavior that is designed to cause as much damage as possible, yet still tolerated or glossed over. I can handle this for a little while, until it becomes apparent that these people are not going to change or be forced to change any time soon, at which point I pack my things and bail. But the number one thing that gets me? Random FC requests from people who I don't know with little to no explanation. Expect to be disappointed.
17. Duskwright has such a pretty Roegadyn, and she's so nice in-game!
18. This is what I've been waiting for. High end raid content that is more accessible to the casual gamer, allowing for better learning experiences. Let's hope the loot is good for both difficulties, because even us story snobs would really like to have something to show for our efforts.
