  1. There there. I'm sure when she breathed her last, the last thought she had was of how your love and care towards her made her life worth living.
  2. Just a lil' tune from my list of favorite artists. It's ambiance, with a little bit of downbeat tempo/chillout. Which makes up the majority of what I listen to! [video=youtube]
  3. C'eleni: I may have been back for only half a day so far, but one thing I've definitely noticed while reading up on threads is your immense kindness and wonderfully positive personality. It makes you stand out.
  4. Thanks! There's a lot of stuff on here that I still gotta re-familiarize myself with; I love the availability thread idea. I'm definitely taking advantage of that.

  6. And man... it feels good to say that. Hello, Hola, Dâka-Hô, Konnichiwa RPC! My name is Ryanti Veanysus. I'm a college student about to graduate with a Bachelor's in Marketing... and also an old timer on this website that faded into obscurity about a year ago. Fancy that! I came here originally at the beginning of 1.0, but that was rather short lived. I returned to the community after the servers of 1.0 shut down, and that's when I created my character and became part of this... family. I thrived for a long time here during beta of 2.0, and the first few patches. It was an unbelievable experience being a part of your lives and yours being a part of mine. I experienced great roleplay, and fantastic stories, and even told some of my own! But then... because the way life is sometimes, I had to make sacrifices. About a year ago, I had to dramatically reduce my RP, and my involvement here. And with that, my presence here faded away into the wind. I never quit the game; in fact I still was as active as ever, so if you've seen my name on Balmung before, you aren't crazy . I just.. was overwhelmed by this game's content. So I wasn't really RP'ing as much anymore... my life getting much busier didn't help. The months went by, and as I found myself away from this community, I kind of lost my way. That's how I felt. I wanted to come back sooner, but I felt like I had to wait until the right time. So I signed onto this forum for the first time in forever about a week ago. After the nostalgia flood ended, I took all of the stuff I had written down of my roleplaying I did both before after I left this community, and completely redesigned my wiki and updated everything. Then I waited for the right time; patch day. It had to be patch day. So now it's the right time. I'm back, and I'm here to stay. I have to admit, I do feel nervous. This is kind of surreal to me. It's been a long time, and it can be challenging to feel accepted or live up to the standards you set for yourself when you return. It's great though, to see this place so healthy. It makes me happy. I know this intro is long, but it means a lot to me. It's homecoming, it's like I'm returning... home. It feels good! I hope I can get to know you all, and fit right back in. ~R
  7. Just so everyone knows, I am attending Dragon Con at the moment. I realize because of the size and scope of the con that there is a chance of more of the RPC besides myself being here. So if anyone else is here and wants to meet Ryanti face to face x3...or a RPC meetup in general, then so yeah. I'll be walking around with a lightsaber. Possibly an enormous double bladed lightsaber. Might post a pic soon.
  8. Let them. It'll allow people to realize that FFXIV ARR isn't just some generic fantasy illuminated space that you grind stuff in. That it's actually a living, breathing world that'll have *gasps* environmental challenges that change by the day. Just like in real life.
  9. They are being smart, and releasing an open beta patch of that size. Before early access, they will introduce the launch patch, which should give people the remaining 15 or so gigs.
  10. That must be a big city thing? I've never heard of such a place. Time for Google 8-) Oops. Thought it was a national thing lol.. You can go in there and they make special stuffs for vegan/vegetarian people.
  11. You just might know Ryanti from... Ul'Dah. Mostly the rich sectors, like the Royal section. He is known to engage in social discussions near the fountain of the Alchemist's Guild. He has also ventured around the outside of the city, a few times, notably more often after the calamity. You just might know Lorenthian (Ryanti's father) from... Limsa Lominsa and Costa Del Sol. He is known to make frequent trips to this locations because he has a vacation home in Mist. He has also throughly ventured around La Noscea during his youthful years, growing a liking to the landscape and was also responsible at a very young age of sparing Keisuna's life there. Ul'Dah. Pretty much everywhere. He is known as a very respected Immortal Flame, holding a high ranking position in the military before semi-retiring. If your character has any knowledge of military inquiries, you have probably heard of him.
  12. A long time ago here, I tried to fill in the blanks with the Allagans. Because I got too ambitious. Trust me. You don't wanna do it. It leads to so much bad karma.
  13. I looked for that place in the beta, but I couldn't find it anywhere near Ul'Dah. I saw the base right outside of Grid and the base right outside of La Noscea, but I couldn't find that facility. Didn't even know where it was until you said so. Still, it's an industrial zone, not a military one if I'm correct? I recall there being quite a bit of fortifications and even a high level area with level 40+ magitek mobs about. I'll have to look again in phase 4. Irrelevant with an apparent Castrum being there. I try to keep up with this lore. Unfortunately I often learn more of it due to embarrassing myself.

  15. I'll do this when I have a moment. 8-)
  16. I was very impressed with the weather effects. It seems that they are seperating idle thunder from lightning, and storms from rain. I also appreciate the additional weather including sand storms, dust storms, heat waves, and separating snow from blizzards. The fog is great as well. I wonder whether or not they will have morning fog. It might seem like little things, but it makes Eorzea feel so much more organic. I also appreciate the /visor emote, being a GLD and later a PLD. I will be utilizing that a lot, and it's yet another little thing. The little things stack up. Especially the lip syncing and the materia feature of being able to fuse someone's materia with someone else's weapon. Very, very nice.
  17. "A coastline city riddled with uneducated sea-bearers begging for violence with no concept of unity... a backwoods nation with no sense of how to defend themselves in the midst of a war with a higher civilization... the safest city lies behind the walls of Ul'Dah... and I do not see any Garlean fortress anywhere near here. Besides, even if they did come, this city at least knows how to work cohesively to actually defend ourselves." Ryanti's logic, anyhow. I kind of see it myself. Out of all the places to be, Ul'Dah is the only city that does not have any kind of Garlean base on the outskirts. They are the furthest away from potential invasion. Even when we speak of internal issues, such as thievery or overall shadiness, Limsa is faaaaar more shady. Of course, there are different kinds of shady. I just figured a whole bunch of prostitutes and pirate is more shady then that guy that might potentially sell you into sex slavery.
  18. I just want to say that I notice this trend of frowning upon artistic styles that border on the lines of Japanese or Korean or Chinese animation. Basiclly animation in general. I could perhaps understand what you're talking about in the sense of frowning upon 'moe' tenancies, but I really dislike those shows as well, and prefer more serious, mature anime, but I really despised (at least, back in my high school) how universal disdain followed any time anime was discussed in the sense of artistic style. I gravitated towards that style because I felt like it suit me as a sense of expression far more then any other. And I felt, in a way, discriminated for my preferences. I think anime in general is an absolutely beautiful medium that deserves more praise from the bigoted viewpoints of western artists.
  19. The weather bits are something else that I'm very excited about. Dust storms, heat waves, blizzards and snow being different from one another, idle thunder... idle lightning. Light rain AND heavy thunderstorms.. It's absolutely incredible!
  20. My old 1.0 character will be redesigned completely, and will be Ryanti's father. (Cause he's already leveled up a tad, makes sense yeah?) And my alt. My new character (Ryanti, yay!) Will be starting fresh. No point in a new game being made should I start with someone that's not fresh. :geek:
  21. I'm no vegetarian, and far from being a vegan, but I know that places like The Purple Onion are excellent vegan 'franchises'.
  22. Was sitting here thinking, "Damn, I really love Torn Sky's style." Then I saw a familiar face. And I liked it. A lot. You're gonna make me a broke SOB, Torn. :dazed:
  23. The concept of a villain is usually handled in a different then any other character, whether that character be good or not. Usually in faction-restricted MMO's, there is a divisive good faction, and evil faction, which makes villainous mains a norm, and a real possibility. However, FFXIV takes place on a single continent with an enemy continent. It's more along the lines of 'All player characters are part of the "good" faction." So the idea of a villain can't be made by saying, oh I'm just going to roll Garlean because obviously Garlemald is unreachable and you can't be on the Garlean faction in-game. However, all worlds are in shades of grey. There is evil in Eorzea and good in Garlemald. Also, a villain is not to be confused with a pragmatic individual, or a total asshole. A total asshole can still be good. Despite saying all that though, it would be irrational to create a villain character as a main in this game. Villainous characters are generally treated with hostility and antagonism in social settings. Their IC behavior also is against all in-game behavior Square technically wants you to do. So, if you really want a villainous character, it's much easier to make an alt. That way, you are not perceived with the negative qualities of being a villain in the game 24/7. People will associate you with your good main. Ryanti has a good heart, and he's good by nature, but he's far from a saint. He is as much in-depth as anyone can be. He has his good side, and he has that dark side of his mind that can be taken advantage of and warped due to where his life takes him. And that dark side can be really, really evil. For as heavenly as Ryanti is, there is a side of him that's very, very evil. (I believe a few people have seen that side of him before in Phase 3.) It's truly up to the actions of others whether or not that side of him takes him over. Relating to that (but not directly), Ryanti is an individual that respects the Garleans, and his curiosity tells him that they must have a reason for doing what they are doing; he is only against the Garleans because of their irrational means of achieving what they want to achieve, but he can find a lot of common ground with them. He has his temptations, his desires, his selfish needs and wants and musts. He has that pull. Of course, any story isn't really complete without something to challenge the heroes, or threaten all which they are trying to accomplish. I haven't mentioned this much, but Ryanti (Not knowing this) has a Grandfather neck-deep in the Garlean Empire. He's his mother's father, and he is an extremely manipulative, selfish, apathetic, cold hearted, power hungry son of a bitch. He is my third alt, but one I will not play in-game from the get go. He is my 'villain'. I have decided to utilize the strategy of writing his deeds separate from in-game and separate from Ryanti's life until the right moment comes. He will not be a direct influence in his life, or the lives of others that happen to get involved with Ryanti's business, but he is going to be an ever lasting presence in-game with everyone once I begin to utilize his character outside of private backstory involving Ryanti's business. So that's what I'm doing.
  24. I have mastered the art of distraction. Which is why you haven't seen me in three weeks.
