  1. I was looking over the 2015 Census data again and the 6% Roegadyn number jumped out at me. The 'northern giant' adds variety for sure, but doesn't really feel fleshed out to me. I have a hard time putting my finger on things like Roegadyn culture and history, and I haven't seen enough of the game to know if these are supported by game content. So, while I have used a Fantasia on an Excalibur character of mine to try to help push toward 7%, if I were to bring the character to Balmung, I'm not confident I'd know what to do with him.
  2. This is my hope and, dare I say, my expectation. That said, how they'll roll the Warring Triad proper into the Eorzean mythos is something I've yet to wrap my head around.
  3. Aw, man... I was only gone for a couple weeks... I'll try to ping an officer after work.
  4. Hm, whipping up a ripping yarn, perhaps accompanied by some lute play? Sounds like something to think on!
  5. I certainly would like to be able to legally take part in the Gil sink someday. The fact that players resort to housing scams is a glaring symptom.
  6. Welp, it was only a matter of time before the afro landed. ;o Definitely down for exploratory missions, and nice knowing there is an option to rent your way into access. Look forward to more details on gear as we get closer. The exploration rewards seem like they might be promising, which I hope is true since there was nothing in HW to suit my taste. Will leave Verminion to players with skill at RTS. I have none. Altogether pretty cool, and not much of a wait, either.
  7. Hm, my alt is wary of Xaela, but gravitates toward Raen as the one familiar thing for her in Eorzea. I see a strong parallel in the social and spiritual difficulties, and a sense of alienation both internal and external. Our time zones are fairly close, it seems. If there are details I could provide that would help determine if you'd want to RP, just let me know. I typically get on both my characters daily.
  8. Tangentially related: anyone have any public Discord servers that are not restricted to FC?
  9. Welcome aboard, sir. If you happen to see me in Limsa feel free to wave.
  10. I can confirm Balmung already has an Ethan Waber. I know Gilgamesh has a sizable community for RP, and there are smaller alternatives on Sargatanas, Siren, Faerie, and possibly others. FWIW.
  11. Oz primetime is my primetime. Makes FL queues a real pain, though. :ahriman:
  12. Yes, I enjoy the UC-related series, not so much the others. I also build MG gunpla and have kitbashed and modified with resin parts. Submitting designs to Sunrise sounds very ambitious. Good luck!
  13. Though we may not get to interact due to timezone conflicts, there is definitely support for EU TZ gatherings and such. Best of luck and have fun.
  14. Likewise. Glad you are enjoying the game. If you are looking to get your feet wet, one way is to keep an eye on the player events coming up, and make an appearance. Even if you're too shy to jump in at first, you get a feel for how things can flow. If you see me in the field, feel free to wave.
  15. Look forward to seeing some fellow La Noscean folk. I've taken to keeping a little log of familiar names, in case I see them about Limsa and vicinity. Feel free to wave if you like.
  16. Barmaid, eh? Knows a lot of faces, heard many stories, most like. Perhaps privy to a few secrets. Better keep her on my good side.
  17. So you are the one who boops. Hello and welcome. I am also old, so feel free to be crochety at me whenever.
  18. Have to agree, there are a lot of good-looking, lore-friendly styles there which outstrip most of what was selected: styles I would rather have voted for given the chance.
  19. Trying to force a smile during this scene:
  20. Agreed there are too many. I miss 'the Twin Faces of Fate', but some of the old quest BGMs are still in game and always give me a smile. Right now, the majesty of the Hinterlands daytime theme has really moved me, along with the stoicism of the CWH nighttime theme. Both places I will AFK just to listen for a while. The Waking Sands is another that I will zone out to while writing.
  21. I agree in that I feel there are often too many 'comedy relief' hairstyles. I'm just glad we're dealing with SE and not Sega.
  22. Interesting. Popularity of male styles seems much more evenly spread. One of the styles I like is a current frontrunner, but we'll see if that lasts. The female style I like best is also way out in front. Guess I am not one for unconventional taste?
  23. Well, I am definitely in agreement that these arcs have value. The scenarios you describe definitely seem consistent with the seedy underbelly of Eorzea that we glimpse in some sidequests and incidental text, so there is certainly a place for them. It can be tricky to RP I suppose, though in all honesty I don't believe I've done an arc that had such a dismal finish. Personally I am more disposed to the 'whatever happens, happens' camp, but with a little research people can find out whether or not one is into heavy RP. That alone should act as a disclaimer of a sort, help people to build the arcs they want with who they want, if that's how they like to do it. Great growth often comes from failure. Disappointment is a natural outflow from having expectations or goals, and provides characters with learning experiences. For players who want to risk those times of misfortune, I think the upshot could be very satisfying.
