I think it's a wonderful idea! There are so many beautiful and different locations in the game, it's a shame there aren't more known RP areas instead of just the one.
-
I also voted for the forum and shoutbox, but having heard further prefer the forum idea. Hopefully it'll help encourage people to RP in other areas.

Congratulations! This is a bit late but, if you still need help, please send along a /tell to Aris Frey. (Although am in GMT so it might pose a problem) I'm sure there was a LS dedicated to helping people catch up, but I can't find it anywhere. Hopefully someone else will know if it's still available. Everyone was new once, and most players are very understanding of that and are happy to lend a hand. There's no harm in asking - all your FC friends can do is say 'yes' or 'no', and it won't be anything personal if they do, just that they're busy doing something else or in a queue already.

Ultimately for Nara, if they come to her shop as long as they're paying then business is business. It wouldn't be the first odd type she's dealt with. She will be wary of all these Au Ra suddenly flocking around the cities, but upon learning the reasons they're here she'll be more empathetic because of her own experiences leaving home. ..but if the first time she meets one is alone down a dark alley, she'll assume it's some sort of demon, get her hammer out and run in the opposite direction.

Hello! I personally love the idea, and will be a great opportunity to meet mix with different roleplayers. Actually when I first saw the title and first sentence, I thought you were hinting towards a Eorzean Athletics type of thing with the Grand Companies against each other or something. An idea for another time, perhaps.

Welcome to Balmung! Glad you were able to get in today!

It's working now. I'm not sure if you've done something or it was a bug, but I can see it any way.

The lock is much easier for us European players to work around, because it's usually open in the morning and early afternoon (when most US players are asleep). When you go on the character creator you'll see it will either be faded out like Moogle was when you tried to join, or available. It mostly seems to open 10:00am - 1:30pm. It might be open earlier, but I've never checked and can't confirm that. I created a character a couple of weeks ago at 10:45am ish. As Steel mentioned, there's an option to pay as well, if my memory is correct it's somewhere around £11.

A very big welcome to HRC! It's great to see another EU member here. I can't speak for Siren either, but - Oh. I've just refreshed the thread and read Steel's post. Sadly I do not think this post is going to be any more helpful! I moved to Balmung for the roleplay, and haven't regret it. There is usually roleplay going on at all times of day, and although the majority are US players the EU population is slowly growing. There are more events at EU-friendly times, as well as EU based Free Companies and Linkshells. So if you do chose to move, I highly recommend coming here! Perhaps it's worth looking around Siren a bit more to see if there is anything? Hopefully someone will be able to be more helpful than I. If you haven't checked already, the Siren thread on the official forums might be worth going through, or shouting out in any populated cities asking for a roleplay FC. If you chose to come to Balmung, it's also locked most of the time because it's a Legacy server. However, I've noticed it open most days over the past few weeks from 10:00am - 1:30pm UK time. It might be open earlier even, but it's usually closed by 2pm. Edit: I'm sorry this post is one massive ramble, I woke up 30 minutes ago and my brain isn't quite functioning yet.

Hello. I'm usually a lurker on here due to my own lack of confidence, and more recently due to the reasons that started this thread. But as this is something everyone is experiencing I thought it'd be good to share my interpretations of it as well, and hopefully others will if they haven't already, as it would be good to everyone's opinion, even those who aren't directly involved. It's been bought up how the community here isn't as welcoming as it was, 'popularity', cliques, and other issues along those lines. Since it's been mentioned so often by different people on multiple occassions it can be concluded that these issues exist. However, in my opinion they are separate and unrelated to recent aggression that has been here lately, so I won't go futher on it. I've gotten the impression since there has been some negativity building over the past months, people are on their guard even more than they usually would be and are seeing aggression where there isn't any. Hopefully this thread has helped break that cycle and has been a gentle reminder to everyone that users are just discussing things and more often than not, not trying to cause a fight. (Is my grammar right there? Should there be two nots? ) Actually I feel stupid because I'm finding it really difficult to sum up what I wanted to say, because often I can't tell if people are being rude or not on here, which is ultimately the problem. So instead I'm going to second remembering to read your reply before posting, maybe if in doubt even adding "I'm not starting an argument and am genuinely interested in what you have to say!" Be the better person. If you see someone being snarky, ignore it or navigate around it. It doesn't make you look any better than them if you respond in kind. If you feel someone is getting personal, then send a private message to them rather than continuing publically. I can think of many threads that could have been salvaged if this happened. Lastly, please, please, agree to disagree when you both believe you are right. In pretty much every case I have seen on here, no-one is wrong. But everyone has different opinions, and it's important to remember that. I'm just repeating everyone else. Thank you to our lovely Moderators for discussing this, dealing with recent dramas, and generally being awesome.

I love the sound of this! I don't know anyone else becoming an Au Ra, it would be amazing to make some connections beforehand

Heavensward Jobs, and Au Ra Lore now available
Aris replied to Avalt Laguz's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I have the same concerns I hoped some of the Au Ra lore would stretch around the new areas and we'd see it in action, but instead it feels like they've given us a background which could be ignored any way. Fingers crossed that isn't the case. As mentioned it doesn't have to hold any one back from RPing it - players will just have to take initiative in making it happen - but ideally we see it in game as well. I think my Au Ra plans should still fit, with a good reason for travelling. Hopefully it'll still be okay and not make anyone roll their eyes when they see yet another Au Ra wandering up the street. -

This is all very exciting. 2 months left. Just 2 months. -
I've been wondering about this as well! Am just in the book phase of my WHM relic and realise I need start saving some gil. It's a huge relief to know there isn't a huge difference between min/max, and that things can be changed later. ._. I think I'll work on making a cheaper one for now. If you don't mind me asking on your thread - how long does it take to spirit bond an item, in a SB party for example?

balmung European timezone blacksmith looking for customers/friends
Aris replied to Pahn Dotharl's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hello! I'm also EU based with a Blacksmith/Armourer alt (still leveling her up though). While she certainly wouldn't want to steal your customers, it could be fun for them to meet, or have met already perhaps, or they could do a collaborative project, or something. Will send along a message any how in case you're interested! -
Certainly what many of our RPers do - there's a similar thread here! I haven't taken inspiration from any one for my OCs, but I'm thinking I should as it might help me get a better idea of what they look like. Watch this space!

[EU-Friendly] The Anchorage - Fighting Tournament
Aris replied to Jurgen Rothmoore's topic in Chronicled Events
This is exciting! I'm not entirely sure what to do as a healer - but could provide a character if needed. Will be there to spectate any how. -
I agree completely. Definitely not trying to be negative! Erik invited us to talk about the idea and we are. It's interesting to hear everyone's views as how SE can advance roleplaying further, and bounce off more ideas.
