  1. I love my FC, and Cassandra Lachance OOC'ly, but WOW, IC'ly it's just a huge nopefest. V'lanya has even threatened to leave the company over some racist remarks (she might be a little touchy on those grounds). Recently, it's hilarious to try and see the two interact as if they wish to, though Cass -seems- to be making some sort of effort. A recent meeting found them actually agreeing on something, though, which was certainly a surprise. My best friend, for some time played an Ishgardian Inquisitor. He was beginning to poke his nose around various events that caused V'lanya to not be too happy. Therefore she devised a plan to ensure he stayed away from the Company, perhaps manipulating people a LITTLE bit. I rather enjoyed his OOC reactions towards myself when he found out about IC progressions. Capslock ensued.
  2. She's not much of a singer, but I should imagine something a little haunting such as this: _P-Uggd1I0I
  3. Most of the men V'lanya has crushed on, she's managed to whittle away into some form of relationship/brief endeavour. Oooh, Orrian Servais. Nope. Such a pretty Duskwight, yet she absolutely cannot stand him. Lovely to look at, though! She seems to find a lot of people attractive, but as soon as they open their mouths to speak, she just nopes straight out with disinterest.
  4. Everyone that has stuck with me throughout my mini-RP hiatus because I got so involved with relic grinding. Thank you, sincerely for being patient with me while I blew you off to hate myself more. Everyone I have found, since, to RP with, oh my, you are absolutely fantastic, namely: C'kayah, thank you for being so patient, and not hating me! Nigel Beaulieu, here's to the nerd club. I can't be bothered to type out loads for everyone, so here's everyone: Teore Iseterre, I'maalhi Oxblood, R'shenn Tia (OHMYGODICAN'TWAITFORMORE), Xao Ganajai...and the entirety of my FC (Free Wing Society) keeping me (somewhat) sane over the past couple of months.
  5. Currency conversion says this: Heavensward CE: US $130 = £87.88 EU €130 = £92.56 What we're actually paying: UK £129.99 = €182.18 UK £129.99= $192.04 I'm hoping the maintenance actually is them fixing prices at this rate, because, it's a tad ridiculous.
  6. Not alone in that at all. You pull it, you tank it. Aside from accidental pulls, that doesn't count. It's genuinely something that's put me off tanking before, especially when they have the audacity to blame the tanks in the first place. +1 Commendation!
  7. (In 1.0 Edda was an NPC in a quest, of which, you had to stop her from learning necromancy) Popping this under spoilers in case anyone hasn't done Tam-Tara HM:
  8. Another good place to get some voices heard, get on it my lovelies! Also you might win money! $_$ Thank you Inarah!
  9. Doing my relic quest has caused me to resent every pug I will ever encounter in the future. Highlights of this week thus far: - A BRD that literally only used heavy shot and flaming arrow. No songs. Nothing. - A NIN in Tam-Tara HM that thought you could just 'ignore' mechanics on the second boss, and I quote: "no this is what happens when u focus on mecahnics in dungeons" (i.e. an instant wipe because all the orbs hit the lalafell). - BLM's that just straight up don't know their rotation whatsoever. I've tried giving them advice (this was in lower level dungeons, mind you), and been straight up ignored, or flamed in response. - Generally, people just going AFK. It's hard to find a good BRD that actually uses any sort of songs these days, and it is making me lose my faith in humanity. I'll be over there, sobbing quietly, I just want my relic finished.
  10. This is absolutely fantastic, and well thought out, props. I'll have to find some LS space, and give you guys a poke some time, I -love- the sound of it!
  11. I absolutely love the sound of "His Source of Power", but, my character currently has two lovers - and I sincerely doubt she'd give either of them up to pursue a monogamous relationship at this point in time. Please please please give me a poke in the future for roleplay, I do love myself some well-thought out and descriptive posts, and will return the gesture in kind. Good luck, I look forward to seeing what happens with this!
  12. If V'lanya had never got exiled from her tribe, she'd have likely been sent to the Thaumaturge's Guild in Ul'dah to harness her aether. Either that, or she'd have been taught by an elder in the tribe. Even then, if she wasn't taught correct aether manipulation, she'd have likely been killed. Fast-forwarding a few moons, if she -did- still get exiled, and failed in summoning her voidsent companion, she'd be killed - again. I'd actually love to write that into a small story, but alas, it involves characters that are not my own, and I don't feel comfortable writing for them. Most of her story is just her escaping death after death. I put her into too many situations that are just sadistic on my part.
  13. A little less heavy than what I'm used to, but her voice is superb. Just wish I was seeing her in London on Tuesday! Used to listen to this band when I was like 15, and recently rediscovered them! More flavour text here! Last, and certainly not least.
  14. Any situation that could expose that there are a few select individuals that V'lanya cares about. Namely because she attempts to portray herself as someone completely heartless and uncaring, and solely out for herself. Which she is. If anything, she believes caring for someone as weak, and will promptly exit the conversation, or blush profusely as soon as someone realises she cares about others. Alcoholism. She's very well aware she drinks profusely, and uses it as a coping mechanism. While she doesn't wholly stink of alcohol, and does her best to cover it up, she's paranoid that someone will realise that it's but a crutch to support well-constructed walls. Lastly, being physically weak. She'll avoid combat where she knows she can't win at all costs - lest foes or potential enemies realise it can take one to two punches to render her useless if she's not wholly under the effects of adrenaline. Point it out? She'll just turn into a prideful display of knowledge, though deep down, she's likely sobbing.
  15. V'lanya (or rather the voidsent inhabiting her body) is dying, and she needs a new host! What better than a pretty little Au Ra Dark Knight that's on the brink of death? I'm excited to get some backstory fleshed out for the previous inhabitant, and original name. SE can't hurry enough. Oh, and her numero uno mate will be an Au Ra DRK too, so adorableness will ensue! (Edgy adorable, 5edgy7me)
  16. Physical hardiness. No matter how hard she tries, V'lanya can just NEVER take a hit. The last few punches to her sternum caused her to cough up blood, and a few times, in sparring, she's nearly ended up dead. I'd say taking critique is a skill. The Miqo'te is so far up her own backside she can't take critique, and will turn hostile/walk away from anyone attempting to do so. Oooh, self-control, too. That's likely something she just can't do whatsoever. Yeah, that's a big no-no. Though, admittedly, she's getting a LITTLE better. Lasting romantic relations. Something I won't even comment on, she's either extremely unlucky, or a complete dimwit.
  17. Thanks for the quick replies! Its good to know what kind of experience other EU players are getting on the NA servers, and its good news that their moving the EU server to the EU (kinda makes sense). Perhaps I'll consider moving to either Balmung or Gilgamesh, been craving some RP for a while now. Do you also progress in PvE content too? I'm on Turn 8 in Second Coil after, honestly, not spending a lot of time in there. Your only struggle -might- be attempting to find a GMT-friendly static, if that's one of your main interests. Though, I have seen a few advertisements for permanent static members in GMT-friendly times, not to mention PF always has people looking for replacements in a static. There's plenty of Linkshells for it too, from what I hear! We have a few EU players in my Free Company too, and the others are progressing through the Final Coil absolutely perfectly fine. If I'm honest, as long as you have an above-average (or nothing comparatively as bad as mine) internet connection, the place is just as easy in terms of latency etc.
  18. British player on Balmung, and geographically speaking, all the servers are located in Canada (I think - correct me if I'm wrong). So theoretically, any lag you get on your respective servers, would be the same on any other servers. That would be, until they implement the EU servers they announced at Fanfest, and haven't followed up with any information on, as of yet. As for lag in general? It depends, it's mostly due to server load, if anything (seriously, hunting at peak-times is a complete no-go with me). I don't get any instance lag, and no lag with roleplaying in hotspots. Though, as a disclaimer, I have pretty terrible internet, due to the exchange being shared with two suburbs in my city so I average ~3mb download speed. That's all I can think of, if you have any questions, I wouldn't mind answering more~
  19. V'lanya Mei If witty remarks and a covert distaste for most people are among your favourite things in a companion, then look no further. Quite the conversationalist, and intelligent to boot, you're bound to not encounter a dull moment.
  20. OuO everyone's so pretty. As an added bonus, Shiva from Fanfest. Excuse my ridiculousness, and there's a bunch of Easter Eggs in there too! b25B5jZw6zk
  21. Character Name V'lanya Theme Stage Description The rift into the void. Deep within the Twelveswood, surrounded by debris and bodies of Lohengarde, a menacing aetherical tear is pulsating in the background. The majority of the surrounding area is dense with thick trees. Moveset Description A combination of long-range powerful attacks that require a large combo of fast, weak attacks. The fast weak attacks are with clawed fists, and sweeping kicks - used to juggle the opponent through counters and baiting tactics. Her weakness would be long range attacks and guard breaks. Special Moves (or Limit Breaks if you wanna be fancy) Special 1 - Kneel: V'lanya grapples with the opponent, grabbing them by the throat. Her clawed hands squeeze tightly, throwing the opponent on the ground so they 'kneel' to the Queen. Only useable after ten successful counters. Special 2 - Void Fire: Drawing power from the aether tear, V'lanya's fists become pumped with void fire - ensuring her attacks are more powerful. During this time, she's unable to block or counter in a fit of rage. Special 3 - Into the Void: While grappling with the opponent during 'Kneel', V'lanya casts them into the aetheric tear, throwing them into the void. After a few moments of ensuring her manicured nails are intact, she thrusts her hands back into the tear, pulling them back out. Nemesis The Lord of Visions (NPC) - Somehow finding his way out of the Void, he'd be a voidsent in the same style as Diabolos. Intro Quotes General 1: "Can you hear that? The arrhythmia of your beating heart is quite the song." General 2: "You can't stop me, I've slain entire legions." General 3: "Another plaything? I'll try not to break you too hard." Versus Lilithium Altair: "So, it's come to this?" Versus Miqo'te: "Come on kitten, let's dance." Versus the Lord of Visions: "Our pact is null, I will take your seat of power." Versus Jael'li: "Come, my love, you'll know I'll never go easy on you." Win Quotes General 1: "See? I told you, you can't stop me." General 2: "Balance and order is for the weak, can't you see now?" General 3: "Bow to your Queen." Versus Lilithium Altair: "You should have heeded your own warnings." Versus Miqo'te: "What's the matter, cat got your tongue?" Versus the Lord of Visions: "Couldn't envisage this, could you? Fool." Versus Jael'li: "You never should have left." Lose Quotes General 1: "I can't be imprisoned...not...again..." General 2: "The music, it's stopped." General 3: "I guess all power...has its limits." Versus Lilithium Altair: "I misjudged you." Versus Miqo'te: "Hmph." Versus the Lord of Visions: "So that's, how you got your title." Versus Jael'li: "I see why you left, I'm...weak."
  22. Ah! This excites me to no degree since the holiday rushes are over. I personally think V'lanya falls into the 'Other' category, though is also a 'Hand for Hire'. A crisis of conscience that could likely never happen to a freelancer is a good thing. While she doesn't walk around with a giant, flashing neon sign that states: "HIRE ME I NEED TO FUND MY WINE ADDICTION", it's quite obvious that she's able-bodied and looking for work. Namely due to the fact she can often be seen picking up the leve cards that most would leave behind. Though the 'other' category pertains to her a little better. Self-titled 'Queen' and genius, and a rather overt issue with her arrogance, she's devoted most of her life thus far to her research into aether manipulation. The fascination caused her to become void-touched in the first place, and now she has a longing thirst for draining aether from others. She's not blatantly evil, and mostly comes across as an arrogant; intellectual; snob; though the correct conversation can cause her to divulge in her more sinister streak. A penchant for watching others in pain can sometimes be obvious, however, though it hasn't happened in public for quite some time. Reading through your post has drawn me to some conclusions. She hasn't -worked- with anyone yet to the point where she's divulged her evil side, though things seem to be in the works. As for illegal stuff going on? Finding people and draining their aether to the point they die, I heard that's illegal, apparently...
  23. It's actually a myth, that drinking aids or assists the user of drunken techniques, in fact it tends to have quite the opposite due to the dexterity involved. Oh, I know that for a fact. I mean, some of the techniques used would certainly cause a variety of "I'm probably going to be sick from this" thoughts - though that would be alone with no opponents. I dread to think of her composure otherwise... Although, you -have- tempted me to make my character learn of this through practice, perhaps it'll deter her!
  24. I've based a lot of my RP fighting off Crazy Devil Staff technique, and have avidly researched into wushu and drunken arhat boxing. This video is the main one I like to watch while getting somewhat in the mood for spearplay, rather than hand-to-hand. Vwcqd8ZQtcI As for hand-to-hand, I'm incorporating the same style of drunken techniques (not because she's an avid drinker, promise), Mainly due to the fact it's an unpredictable style that fits my character well. Admittedly, I likely picked one of the hardest fighting styles to display against complete strangers (though that hasn't quite happened yet), due to the fact it's -meant- to be unpredictable, and unreadable in terms of where the strikes originate from. In a way, it's practice makes perfect I suppose. Incorporating aether is another factor to weave in, though that's mostly with hand-to-hand rather than anything else.
