  1. I'm still convinced that it was an utter failure of sound military judgment not to seize and hold Castrum Meridianum when we had crippled it, demolished its garrison, and decapitated its leadership. If that is not the prime opportunity to raise the Eorzean flag from the parapets, then I don't know what is.
  2. I'd have to switch characters to check my fishing log, but I want to say that the Eorzean puffer fish is supposed to be an out-and-out expy of the Japanese one that murders people just for looking at its flesh funny.
  3. Oh, yes sir. I am rapidly inventing excuses to have Ganale become interested in tech and airships so I can bring to Eorzea the grand rebirth of my ace fighter squadron that I've had in one form or another for 15 years now.
  4. This is a bit more my speed, actually. But hell, I'm not looking to get handed the keys to a shiny new F-22. Even something with biplane-like agility is fine.
  5. I'm too attached to my characters to kill them off. And I cut my teeth in an RP environment where literally everyone was trying to kill everyone else, so it's burned into every fiber of my being to violently resist the deaths of my characters. That said, I have petulantly debated sending most of them to their unceremonious doom in one of my varying stages of considering a ragequit from RP. Hasn't happened yet.
  6. Yeah I saw that one, which gave me scant hope, but it's still a bit more...sail-powered...than I'd like. But again, it's just me grasping at pipe dreams. Seconding the more Allagan stuff. Chao needs her advanced Forerunner gear to reverse-engineer, after all. =D
  7. Ah, forgot about airships. I know it won't ever happen, but if they gave us single-man airships that were a bit more...nimble and aerodynamic than the Garlean ...things, that would be great. I'm all down for some Ace Combat Eorzea.
  8. Multiple types of guns the way GLD/LNC/WAR have a large variety of axes/swords/pokey-sticks. I got characters that need bonafide sniper rifles, some that want assault-category weapons but can get away with the short carbines that they've showcased so far, and then I need some pistols. Preferably double-fisted but I'll not be picky on that front.
  9. I was on board up until that. That's just a low blow. /sobs
  10. Most of us are on every day and we can easily shoot an invite from one of the various alts we have. We don't do much events for the time being because we're still so small, but that's no reason we can't get something going.
  11. They would all despise me for never getting to RP. Ganale in particular would probably club me with his axe for putting him in the middle of the worst unrequited relationship woes that I have ever experienced. Tahz would be nice about it, but that's kinda even worse.
  12. GDI, I got all excited at first until I realized that it's positions you actually need filled inside your FC. Same thing bit me in the ass about Zero Division. G'luck with the recruiting, though, and apologies for making you feel all excited about getting a response only to waste your time.
  13. Ganale basically is me with a longer military career and martial skills. Otherwise his past reads having huge chunks out of mine, and most of his likes and dislikes (catgirls!) are mine except for the rain, but he happens to have a disability that acts up in the rain and I don't. Tahz is intended to be a reflection of all my good traits and none of my bad ones, which is why he's pretty one-dimensional. His being a goody-goody, wannabe knight-in-shining-armor is a reference to the fact that I don't seem to be emotionally capable of playing a villain or evil character. A few of his history things reflect me as well; I chose the specific number of challenges in which he failed to become nunh for a reason. Seno is from another setting, where I explicitly made him to be a cooler me, and it's reflected in a lot of his actions and tastes. Less so in FF because obviously it's not a modern setting, but it's still there. The others are either pre-existing characters I just took and modified or otherwise have very few noticeable traits. Ghost is also from another setting where he is another copy of me, but not so much here.
  14. -Goes to fix some settings, no longer will feel self-conscious about uploading more than two images at once-
  15. I mope for a few days. And may or may not make petulant decisions about my characters in response. I'm not a good source of advice on this.
  16. Too bad I wasn't in the QS. Could've done with some humor at about the time that seemed to be going on.
  17. Bounty hunter's countermeasures in TOR was the best thing ever. \o/
  18. I myself have always acted under the assumption that a properly-trained mage can sense the magic density in the air around them, and in particular can detect other mages around them who possess a certain threshold of magic. If the mage in question is absurdly powerful or has a specific magic signature, then they can be identified by another mage at a distance.
  19. As mentioned in the NIN questline (and I believe by Yugiri as well), the Domans don't follow the Twelve. Instead, like the Japanese they're based on, they believe in and revere the kami, or spirit gods, that are in all things.
  20. Yeah, nothing at all wrong with having a non-lore name in my book as long as you got reasons for it. Hell, come to think of it, I doubt a single one of my characters' names is actually lore-compliant, insofar as what the game has said "this race names their people like this" kind of things. Oh, derp, Tahz. He's got a lore name. But he's it.
  21. Again, people who have that kind of mindset aren't worth the time of day. I don't particularly think that has a whole lot to do with it though? Look at Chao. She's a Seeker miqo with nothing even resembling a tribal name, because she's not from an Eorzean tribe, being native Doman. And on top of that, her name is taken directly from a manga character, and has very, very similar attributes and goals. And yet back when I used to sit around the QS she got talked to quite frequently.
  22. I would never have associated a name like that with the anime unless it was pointed it out to me. This may or may not be because I have two characters myself that explicitly share the exact same names as ones from another series, and a third that comes damn close. If people are avoiding you on the basis of your name being similar, then fuck 'em, they're not important.
  23. Technically you can beat his ass, just as long as he doesn't die. I always do. I do agree, though. Of my eight characters, Tahz is probably the only one who might have gone peacefully with the Blades. The rest would have slaughtered Teledji and his little mook troop right then and there. Especially Ganale. Accuse a loyal son of Ul'dah of assassinating the sultana, will you.
