PVE Nubcakes: Hardcore RP'er Disclaimers Will Set You Free
Miko Shiroi replied to Sig's topic in RP Discussion
From my own personal experience, those types of players that rant and rave if you wipe or mess up (even once!) can't really be satisfied no matter what. They seem to come into the game in a piss-poor mood, just looking for someone as a scapegoat to take their frustrations out on. So I feel that, even by saying something like that, the typical unhappy player will still behave the same (or even be more irritable). For example, my girlfriend and I were in a dungeon recently (she was a NIN and I was an AST) and we came across this kind of person. They ended up complaining throughout the entire dungeon because she wasn't using one (ONE!) move. It got to the point where they said "This is probably the worst dungeon experience I've ever had in FFXIV. You might want to try and be less of a burden to players and humanity in general." So, whether this topic is to be taken seriously or not, I'm kinda surprised that you've apparently had success with this method. But power to you! I wish it worked for me, as I play on a laptop and die a lot in AoE-heavy battles. -
Oh man. That's absolutely adorable. The plushes that the team churns out (like the carbuncle plushes, etc.) always look so cute and are created in such likeness to the actual in-game items. I would be more than happy to support these becoming a reality.

[Interest Check] Would your Free Company participate?
Miko Shiroi replied to Vahn Kasch's topic in RP Discussion
Ew, math. That aside, my Free Company, the Wild Lotus Host Club, would be willing to participate! I'm sure I could generate an interest within my group, considering we all had fun at the Golden Sands fighting event before. As far as an event location goes, I always thought it would be fun to have a tournament in Coerthas right about here: -
Yep it plays a big part despite being such a small thing! I always try to incorporate it during fight rp with Aaron by showing him switching hands or having difficulty defending one side over the other. Makes the fight more about real skill and finesse than the typical "I swing harder than you, you get hit." I see. I'm always looking to try and make my RP experience feel more "realistic" and "immersive," so I might try to include some of this in my RPing. Up until now, I've just used dice rolls alone to decide the outcome of fights. Actually, it might be a neat thing to combine both of those and have a swing or dodge fail because of the angle and arm strength dominance.

Actually, I really like sad stories and RP plots. I feel like a character can't successfully develop if their life is always all sunshines and rainbows (not saying it's a bad thing, I just prefer to broaden the spectrum with both happy and sad things). With that being said, though... I really have to coordinate the day I RP a sad plot with my irl mood and well-being. As much as I like causing my characters turmoil, writing something really sad when I'm already down isn't good for my mental health. BUT, man-oh-man, when I'm in the mood for it, a good sob is a great thing to have. Gimme those dramatic plotlines!
-
Ahaha. I always love to see other RPers willing to put their characters through some great misery for the sake of development! Anyways, that aside, K'heyo is a fairly pleasant guy. I'd love to interact with your character sometime! K'heyo runs a host club free company (that also provides mercenary services) based out of Ul'dah just for some basis. Feel free to /tell me in-game sometime or send me a PM on here! I'm often in-game on weekday evenings around 5/6 pm EST - 1-2am EST.

balmung Looking for would-be DRKs.

I'll be online probably around 5pm EST, if you'd be available sometime around then? -
"Hey, kid. Wanna buy some HQ coke?"

Oh man. I hadn't really thought about this much before I happened upon this topic. I also didn't realize that being more dominant in one hand or the other could affect fighting so much (especially physical combat). Because of the in-game animations, I've just kinda rolled with K'heyo being right-handed. Even though it would be a petty issue, I'm not quite sure I could deal with the animations being inaccurate to his dominant hand if I were to change him to left-handed.

Wait, we're allowed to vote for 1 style for each gender, right?

balmung Looking for would-be DRKs.
Miko Shiroi replied to mongi291's topic in Chronicled Connections
My character, K'heyo, would be a great foil to yours. He's excitable, loud, and flamboyant. Not to mention, he's also more versed in magic than he is in physical combat (yet alone heavier weapon combat; he's only versed in speed!), so training him would probably be both a challenge for your character and a way to thaw her cold nature out a little! Lemme know if you're interested!~ -
Filled out and submitted! This sounds really interesting and I think it would be a lot of fun to be included if the chance arises.

balmung [Edit] Seeking RP desperately.
Miko Shiroi replied to Anthony Valron's topic in Chronicled Connections
Welcome, welcome, and all of that jazz! If you see "K'heyo Tia" around in your travels, feel free to pull me aside ICly or send me a /tell! I'm always happy enough to meet fellow RPers. I also run a host club Free Company, the Wild Lotus Host Club (and mercenary services). So, that's another thing that could factor into character interactions between our characters if you want an easy approach! -
The navy-haired Seeker stood for a notably long time before the Quicksand's mission board, eying the flashy advertisements. His expression was hard to read; it was difficult to tell whether he was impressed, disturbed, or possibly even a little of both. What a cheap price! Actually, the cost alone was nearly enough of a buying point for he, who always was eager to try almost everything at least once. "Can only wonder what the Seven Hells the ingredients are, though..." K'heyo mumbled thoughtfully. Then, he shrugged and made a grunt of dismissal. What with being a Hearer in his own right, it just about always felt like the entire Twelveswood was within him, so maybe he should give the Bronco Flame â„¢ a try? He did spend a lot of his time in Ul'dah, after all.

Is anyone else having difficulty RPing their Au Ra?
Miko Shiroi replied to Ashe's topic in RP Discussion
I have a female Xaela character whom I RP as a Dravanian sympathizer. So, I suppose my approach is a bit different in regards to that fact alone. However, as others have said, I typically refer to my Xaela's tribe (which is the Malaguld tribe) as a very tightly-knit and nomadic deal. Whenever my Au Ra introduces herself to someone, it's always "Ghoa, of the Malaguld Tribe" or "Blood-Member (since the Malaguld tribe also accepts Raens) of the Malaguld Tribe." Tribal traditions are very important to her, but are also mixed in with the morals and traditions she obtained while living amongst dragon-kind. So, that's just my approach to it all. As others have said, because of the lack of lore, a lot of it is up to personal interpretation. In some ways, I feel like it's a bit sad that we don't have more lore for the Au Ra; in other ways, I appreciate the fact that there is so much that can be improvised and fabricated. -
Oh my god. I NEED number 11 for my male Miqo'te. Please, for the love of Hydaelyn. It's just so perfect and suiting to his personality. As far as the female styles go, I'm not too impressed. I suppose my favorite is number 16.

Updates! Because those are always exciting!~ Wild Lotus Host Club will be having our very first IC RP event, the "Wild Lotus Meet-N-Greet" coming up sometime in the first 3 weeks of September! Date TBA shortly.

balmung Looking for employees for my Company Linkshell.
Miko Shiroi replied to MilanaMina's topic in Chronicled Connections
My character, K'heyo, is handy with a spinning wheel and a needle. He'd be glad to lend a weaving hand to your character if there is a payment involved (all IC-only payment of course). -
Heh. I think I've come up with a few of these, mostly just plays on existing things and replacing them with Eorzean references. For example, a "White Russian" drink became a "White Ala Mhigan," and is my character's favorite alcoholic beverage.
-
Thank you, Melkire!~ I'll take this chance to say that we're still around! However, recruitment is currently put on a hold until after we host our first public event!
-
Well - as someone with a girlfriend - I already bat for the other team, but there are a few ladies and men that I find attractive. Females: Hilda, Ysayle Males: Aymeric, Haurchefant, G'raha Tia, Alphinaud (perhaps if he was older, though), Jacke
-
Sounds neat! I'll have to grab a friend and stop by!~ Also, I'm very grateful that there's an event being hosted on a Wednesday. Being a server at a restaurant doesn't exactly lend itself to being useful for weekend events.

That's really nice of you to offer up your house to other RPers! Hydaelyn knows that there are plenty of us that don't have houses of our own quite yet. I'll definitely stop by and check it out some time; it looks very well-designed.
