  1. Orrin is game for the 2nd scenario or the second half of the second scenario.
  2. Invariably locked no further south than Ishgard. If we are in the dravanian swamp lands that means its either someplace I could have went or Ishgard is now making an aggressive foothold. Either way, sign me up.... I may even have Monsterhunter affect some of my RP. Idea of hopping out into the wilds to hunt very very powerful dragons
  3. Send me all the Roegadames and Highlander Women! I am not scared! in fact I find highlander women have a more aggressive fun look to them, almost wolf-like.
  4. I've been gone a lot due to real life obligations, is Orrin required for anything? I can get some time in if need be.
  5. I may be the bad kind of elitist when it come to PVE. I say this I decided to level all classes to 50. I did this to be able to obtain serenity and peace due to knowing what other classes are capable of and thus could not foist blame upon anyone but myself. However it gave me nothing but unbridled rage. I was much happier when I was DRG FER LIEF and in complete ignorance. Before it was Tank lost hate to me? I'm a damn good dragoon, gotta let off. now its I've tanked higher ilvl's dps with lower gear, what the hell is he doing to not hold hate? Sucking on his toe? etc. etc. Only got worse when I made a new character on Balmung for RP and started grinding to 50. I no longer had the "Everyone is a newbie" feel from back during early access. Returning to Ifrit NM, or Brayflox for that matter was absolutely PAINFUL. I was part of the first wave of a lot of things in this game, the originals that bashed their heads in trying to learn titan HM and then turning around to sell it for mad cash. The people that went in to kill Cadeuceus with barely any darklight gear, the ones that killed Raflesia first week and Imdugud the next. So I am one of those that spent the hours essentially hard memorizing not only my role but everyone else's, I can still enter t5 despite not having done it in 6 months+ and still can do it without mistake. So of course I've been bred in an environment whereupon perfection is key. It is that same environment where a player realizes that they did not know how to play their class correctly. Its not until you fail to kill that monster wave in t4 or fail to kill the heart in Titan HM with a full party that you realize you are not pulling the weight required. I remember being at the t4 roadblock and realizing that the blackmage wasn't using raging strikes. We fixed that and his numbers went through the roof and we passed the AOE phase. This was before people started to realize that 99% of the time, burn your cooldowns when they are up was the way to go. So, for people coming from my background, you get this perception of anything below raids and ex modes (and hard modes back in 2.0) was your "play time" things that did not require all your faculties on full blast at all times. that it is geared for people who do not know what they are doing. So I get very frustrated when people drop dead in crystal tower, syrcus tower, world of darkness, fall off in Titan HM, etc. Especially when they are decked out in gear I had bled heart and soul to pry off of twintania or Titan etc. Yes, I am one of -those- who sees someone in full gerolt gear back at the beginning of 2.4 and groans internally about how he's a welfare i115. The guy who joins a "farm group" and ditches if there is more than one wipe in the first phase in the initial run. it is why I make it a thing to never really do demanding content with RP'ers not because I think RP'ers are bad but because I will definitely burn bridges. Who I am pushing to clear content and who I am as a person and especially in RP is so dramatically different its like a jekyll and hyde sorta thing. How do I solve this however? Generally by being in a position of power to carry a group for the given thing. I always roulette as tanks because my ilvl will make me tank any way as a DPS and I can control the speed of the pulls (I lean on fast) I tend to join trials as DPS to minimize time spent so less mistakes can be made. Though that has backfired once with me being i130 with 135 weapon on Ifrit HM with an sub i90 paladin tank. my 1-2-3 combo would tear hate. I won't say I demand perfection 24/7. I won't crucify a dragoon for letting heavy thrust drop. I definitely believe in "acceptable autopilot" such as a tank that ONLY does his hate combo and keeps hate on all mobs but doesn't bother to try really hard to maintain dps or a WHM who dedicates their time solely to healing and not risking sneaking in DPS. What I will say is that a lot of people in game are not aware of how to play their job right, not that they are incapable of it, just that they do not know. There are SO MANY people that think Foe Req gimps Bard DPS when it doesn't. And a lot of those same people are the ones that don't like being told they are wrong. So they hide behind "elitist" perhaps I fit that definition, I prefer "Asshole" personally, but at least one that gets results >_> Also playing the new Monster Hunter has helped me cool my ego a bit . I highly suggest it! Nothing better than getting one shot!
  6. Given the remark about Sharlayans......is anyone RP'ing an Indiana Jones-esque archaeologist that gets in a tizzy about ancient looted gear? no? Someone should >_>
  7. I've been tossing around the idea of triad as being a way to resolve RP fights...like Yugi-oh or something (CARD GAMES ON MOTORCYLES!) .. this is a semi serious post.
  8. I've been waiting for that limsan male clothing for SO LONG. No longer will Orrin wear shabby half open shirts but clothing that carries some proper formality without being over dressed!
  9. I'm sure as hell trying to help cultivate an inclusive RP community to bring to Ishgard, if only for the purpose of having it feel alive when people show up there..kinda like a carnival ride. and as Inessa says, when 2.5 part 2 comes out, Orrin's packing from Ul'dah to Coerthas!
  10. Sign me up for 3. Will host a proactive if no one wants to.
  11. Mostly wanting some lore though it seems to operate on feudal/medieval Europe law for the most part with religious decrees superseding all. But also I want to hold off because despite Orrin's position as a nobility and a Dragoon, he's been in Ul'dah this entire time and this has jack all power/influence. Especially because he doesn't want to pull nobility rank publicly and thus be considered some sort of ambassador or whatever..would be problematic for his movements outside Ishgard's borders. I mean he definitely throws his weight around when and if it comes to dragons. but any real sort of authority play, especially authority in a nation where death sentence is so common that a knight can go "Well there goes another heretic off witchdrop" will have to be commented upon when it finally actually happens. Who knows. maybe Ishgard will be a ghost town for RP because of how overbearing it is
  12. Though I am roleplaying as House Fortemps Dragoon, I'd like to extend my support to this FC and its efforts in hopes of fostering a strong, consistent roleplay in Ishgard to rival that of Ul'dah's upon expansion.
  13. I shall comment upon this thread when everyone moves to Ishgard, be that with the 2.5 part 2 patch or with 3.0
  14. Orrin reached for the wrought-iron poker and pressed it into the flames, stoking the fireplace within one of the more luxurious rooms that the Quicksands had to offer. Sweat started to peel down his face before he turned to his left. Upon the stone flooring by the hearth lay a singular bone ring, inlayed with runic scratches of the Dravanian language. His right hand, covered in the gauntlet of his Drachen mail reached down to pick it up between his thumb and forefinger. He looked upon the ring's engraving and it read "Nidhogg" as if the very utterance of the name was enough to drive people to madness as the dragon itself did with its mere presence. He knelt down, ring in hand and carefully and deliberately perched the ring upon the hottest part of the flame, the underside of his gauntlet blackening with soot. He stands and sits back on a chair he pulled away from the table within the room. He watched the ring burn. Orrin had been at this for what must have been weeks now, the trinkets that found their way to market, methodically purchased and subsequently disposed of. All until not one found their way through the legal channels he had means of accessing. The sheer volume had made it difficult to rid himself of the corrupting bones and jewelry all at once. This final ring would be the end of just one part of his duty. The ring began to crackle along with the fire wood, charring at the edges, ashen grey coursing with red hot veins of flame. All the while small beads of light started to dissipate into the air among the embers, the final defiant bits of aether returning to the Lifestream, freed its corporeal prison and the hatred that bound it. He rested his cheek against his unarmored left fist, perched upon the armrest, slumping into his seat. Icy eyes fixated upon the fire. Dragons to the south, heretics scrambling to recover their stolen idols, more Wyrmtears over the course of moons that most Dragoons wouldn't see in a lifetime. None of it made sense. Were it the heretics moving to establish a southern front for the horde...perhaps he could accept it. However they moved as frantically to take back what was theirs as much as he did to destroy them. He bit his lip, exhaling in a long deep sigh, watching the flames dance. He stood and reached for a cloth soaking in water, pressing it to the soot-covered gauntlet, instantly blackening the towel. He sets the towel aside and began to undo the latches to loosen the dragonblood-stained armor before finally placing it along with the rest of his symbol of office. The Dragoon armor was piled up to look as though it was kneeling, as if ready for a dullahan to possess it and walk off. He looked upon the beaked-visor of his helm and saw the flames roaring through its reflection. His hand then moved and pressed against the coat of arms for his house: the symbol of the wolf, proudly displayed upon the left shoulder. He had come out of Ishgard's walls to see what virtues the outside world had to offer, what qualities that the city lacked to such a degree that the Azure would be given to them. Orrin stands and moves to a glass of Ishgardian Brandy he had poured for himself and took a small pull. For too long Orrin had rested upon his laurels, trusting the people of Ul'dah to do the proper thing and destroy the blasted objects. Be it through the object's insidious corruption or blind greed they seek to preserve them. Saw his calls for their destruction to be the fearful mewlings of a zealot when they knew not that Ishgard was not above co-opting the power of dragons for their own. He looked upon his cursed armor and steeled his gaze. He had a world to move at this point, two wyrmtears in need of destruction, a fallen Lalafell at risk of causing more destruction and costing lives, another potential victim of the tear's influence, an investigator who is all but sure is lying and the one behind all of it. He sat in his chair, watching the flames; the ring turned to naught but dust.
  15. Orrin's on Standby in case of a flaking moment.
  16. I think what can really be brought to light from the video, however, is more that considering the type of fights most archers in FFXIV get into, the number of enemies, range, what have you. It goes to show that they aren't utterly screwed up close or on the move. the Geekdad post is equal parts diatribe and enlightening, but given the fantasy world's aether manipulation and the like, may not be so pertinent when it comes to Eorzea.
  17. Perhaps not the place for this post. But this video, though a little propaganda-y can really show the versatility of Bow and Arrow in real life as opposed to Legolas-style impossibilities. In fact, what is so amazing is the fact that a lot of these feats may actually put Legolas to shame. So Archers, this is for you! Hopefully this spices up your archery! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEG-ly9tQGk ALSO READ THIS To Temper your excitement, brought to light by Polaali : http://geekdad.com/2015/01/danish-archer/
  18. *SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS* Seems that has been answered with hildy quest, 20 crates worth
  19. When it comes to hand to hand I draw upon my experience in Aikido and Jujitsu, Orrin grapples and locks arms and breaks bone, he doesn't strike or kick as often unless armored. I've been having issue describing lance or spear combat in any interesting manner other than stabs and thrusts so I tend to lean more towards the absurd acrobatics akin to FF games when it comes to armed vs armed combat.
  20. Dragoons also possess an inner beast (inner dragon) that can override their wants and needs. Actually, was pretty funny doing warrior after dragoon, got me going "No prob bro, been doing this song and dance already"
  21. Orrin is classically trained for court life so his flirting is of wit and innuendo and goading to the point that in the end they think its their idea all along.
  22. Spoilers? I FEAR NOTHING! except rejection >_>
  23. biggest fan of roe wimminz, welcome!
  24. In future situations, I always like to think up a way for my character to disappear for extended periods of time before actually disappearing. For example, its finals time over here so I made Orrin disappear via being on deployment in Coerthas, he's fighting the good fight and can't be reached. If you aren't just looking for justifications for your disappearance and just RP rusty, hop into the tavern at Ul'dah or wherever you used to hang out. Someone may recognize you, if not, strike up conversation! Do not shy away from opportunities to explain why you were missing for so long.
