  1. I know this one hasn't seen replies in a few days, but I thought I'd chime in while the topic is still fresh on my mind on a personal level. There's a lot of reasons to cut off IC ties. Sometimes characters just don't get along and not in a way that's pleasing for everyone involved. Perhaps RP styles differ, or maybe you're simply concerned with a questionable attitude on the other end. It's never really a pleasant situation, though, no matter how insignificant the reasons might be, nor does it ever really end well outside of exceedingly rare exceptions. I recently retconned out a sizable chunk of Vetiver's life. I had reached a point where I just... dreaded signing on to her. The way things had played out were so far from what I had intended, even more so when some of the interactions with others left me uncomfortable on an OOC level. You pile that on top of someone that's already dealing with countless RL struggles and the results are just... disastrous. I basically panicked in a moment of extreme distress. Dropped a lot of people without warning, reworked months of history just to bring Vetiver back to a clean slate I would be content with. Was it my finest moment? Not in the slightest. It was for the better, sure, but I still feel terribly guilty about it, especially when it nearly cost me a close friend in the process. I don't even know if we'll be able to mend our bond at this point. The situation is that dire. But what's done is done and sometimes that's all you can do. Roleplay is supposed to be enjoyable; when it ceases to be, it's time to evaluate the reasons why and address them because at the end of the day, one's emotional well-being trumps maintaining toxic or otherwise unhealthy relationships just for the sake of pleasantry.
  2. So my beloved Vetiver recently split from her fiancee in a rather... tumultuous sort of way. On top of that, her friends are rather distant as of late leaving the otherwise confident and flirty Keeper at her lowest, full of loneliness and heartbreak. I guess the tl;dr is: she really needs company of any sort at this point. Affection or adventure of variable outcomes... doesn't matter, so long as Vetiver has something to help null out that pain for a bit. She's a competent archer, an even better healer and a hell of a lover. Has some deep-seated emotional issues, of course, but it can only go up from here, right? Her Wiki, though incomplete, has most of the important information down. If you're interested... well, you know what to do. ;3
  3. I fully intend to Fantasia my inactive-RP main to one at launch, but I'm honestly flabbergasted people are RPing them already. Not to pass undue judgment on others' RP, but we know very little about them and only just now do we have a little info on their varying cultures. For a while people still thought they were a product of Shiva's... uh, heretic gallivanting. I'm a little lost on how you could even begin to start RPing a race when we had practically no lore on them. It just seems so hasty and short-sighted. I have a feeling there'll be some retcons once we get more information about them. Oh well, I'm still eagerly awaiting more information! We know they're from Othard, with the Raen specifically in Doma featuring similar naming schemes. Unless you plan on playing Xaela, what more do you need to know unless you overly rely on race to define your character?
  4. Definitely up Vetiver's alley. Will have to poke you some time in the future, or vice versa.
  5. No worries! I've only had time today to really start looking. Will poke around in the evening, then. And yes, neutral is totally fine! Vetiver isn't exactly a saint, herself. :3 Wonderful! I'll keep an eye out for you, then.
  6. So I've finally gotten around to messaging and inviting everyone interested (Sorry for the delay, life hasn't exactly been... cooperative for RP pet projects as of late) except for Dogberry, Dasair and Scaraphae. Will try to find y'all tomorrow, but feel free to send me a /tell first if you can!
  7. And the type of arcanists and alchemists that would be interested in this aren't going to be a part of the guilds, or at least put much stock in them outside of the minimum that's required. Also, I disagree: arcane magic + fairy or primal essences is pretty damn witchy as far as I'm concerned. Same goes for brewing up concoctions with various herbs, no matter how exact it is (think tribal Miqo'te). There's an air of mystery that suits the vision perfectly, especially when the focus isn't so much spirituality as it is educated magics safely banded together. The bottom line is: I want these people here. I have no intention of barring anyone from joining the table outside of black mages for obvious reasons.
  8. I return with news as previously promised! The Astral Covenant is now an official linkshell as seen here. Hope to trade spellcraft with you all soon. <3
  9. The Astral Covenant is a gathering of good-aligned spell weavers; a sisterly coven, if you will. Based in the heart of the aether-drenched Twelveswood, we seek to offer a number of magical solutions for dealing with all that is abstract, mystical or otherwise occult in Eorzea. What we're looking for: The witchiest of player characters! Are you a conjurer, scholar, white mage, alchemist, thaumaturge, summoner or potential astrologian looking for a safe haven to call home? Then feel free to join and brainstorm with us. What we plan to do: A variety of witchcraft-themed shenanigans, running the whole gamut from light-hearted to soul-crushingly serious. Dancing naked under the moon obligatory. Please refer to our brainstorming thread as seen here to get an idea. The Astral Covenant will remain as a linkshell for now. If it garners enough interest, however, I will consider elevating it into a full-fledged Free Company in time. How to join: Contact either Vetiver Chastain or Foxglove Kyo in-game and I'll send you a linkshell invite soon as possible. That's it! <3
  10. Gone.

    Crushes!

At the moment? Vetiver is finding herself particularly infatuated with I'rila Xanh, Oniyuri Tsukashima, and Rinslet Branwen. She's a flirty and lonely woman, though, so there's bound to be more as time goes by. ;3
  11. Some decent advice spread throughout here with a lot of bad that creates more hostility than it actually solves anything. Communication. That is the most important thing when it comes to roleplay. I can't say it enough. If something is bothering you, just pull said person to the side, bring it up, and talk it through like a mature adult. I'd be willing to bet that most people are not trying to make you feel uncomfortable OOCly, and are likely to reel things back on their end if you just take the time to say something. Now if they're legitimately being a creep after that, then yes, do whatever it takes within reason, but other than that? It's all that needs to be done, and for the record, no, I don't always do this given how extreme my social anxiety can get at times. Still, it's worth making an attempt at for the sake of everyone involved. Take it from someone that's been on the other end; it's terribly upsetting to be skewered with a great deal of defamation based on nothing more than mere IC musings when a simple chat would have been all it took to straighten the situation out. Game ruining, even.
  12. I would be more than willing to entertain either of your ladies, you need only ask. <3
  13. Hah, are you sure about that? Foxglove's gloominess might even be enough to bring Koragos down of all people! Definitely need to add you on Foxglove at the very least. Try and poke me if you can? Aww, she's not that scary, so long as you don't push her temper. Thank you for your kind words, by the way. <3 Definitely still looking for connections that'll work with Foxglove! Be sure to come find me if interested.
  14. Woooow, this thread kind of blew up, didn't it? I honestly didn't think there would be this much interest! So many amazing and hilarious ideas, too. Totally excited at the thought of Vetiver running her own coven. <3 Going to get to making an LS here soon, just need the right name and then I'll be back with updates.
  15. So here's an idea I've been toying with in my head for a while, a gathering of sorts for those with witch-like inclinations: conjurers, white mages, alchemists, scholars, thaumaturges, summoners... you get the idea. Final Fantasy has always drawn heavily from real-world paganism and witchcraft for its magic and so it seems a shame that such a niche doesn't seem to exist in the community yet. We could swap everything from spellcraft tips to scary stories at a campfire. Take on commissions for healing, medicine, corruption removal, etc.; anything a mage can do, we could do it better united. Details like the above are TBA, of course. Ideally I'd like to bounce ideas around with people that might be interested, hence why I've decided to go through and make this thread in hopes of finding others like me that would have a lot of fun with the concept. If so, feel free to drop a post in this thread, or /tell in-game. Any potential advice or followers is definitely welcome and appreciated. <3
  16. I just post in threads with characters or concepts that interest me and I know I have time to address. I also try my best to contact that person in-game, but I can get focused on other things and so that doesn't always happen, but I do make an attempt when possible. Other than that, there's nothing else I or anyone else can do. Ultimately it's up to the thread creator if they're willing to reciprocate the interest; RP can't be forced, only grown from a mutual desire. Edit: On the subject of time zones and available days... this just isn't helpful for everyone. For myself, I'm off and on throughout the afternoon, evening and night most any day. There really isn't a specific time that works best.
  17. Like I said earlier, I'd more than glad to help T'caska along if I can. Just let me know what's on your mind.
  18. Finally closing the doors on this project of mine. It was... interesting, to say the least, and I met a lot of great people but I'm ready to move on with other concepts.
  19. I'm going to try really hard and avoid getting too personal with this. Forgive me if I go too far, though; not sure I can offer anything else given what's already been said. People with extreme social anxiety and confidence issues... we deal with this all the time. I know you think I'm better at managing it than you, but truth is? Every time I send you something of mine to read, I'm deathly afraid of being rejected no matter how overwhelmingly positive you've been before. I honestly am. It's hard, it really is. If I could take that feeling away, I would, because I know the pain and stress it causes all too well. It gets even worse knowing full well that there are people that would judge you for your roleplay. They do it to me and they'd do it to you. Does it hurt? You damn well know it does, especially when the reasons aren't even justified. They usually aren't. But at the end of the day, it's not going to stop us from doing the very things we love so much. That's what always brings me back. Telling stories isn't just a hobby for me. It's both a lifelong dream and a therapy, more so when I can involve other people with it. To spend a few hours in the mindset of someone else, someone completely different from I am... it's therapeutic, mind opening even. I've never gotten the feeling that we differ much here, so in my opinion? Embrace it. Hard. Also know that I will never, ever judge you, Rila. I love you and your characters. To have a chance to interact with them is a blessing that I respect to the fullest. I don't care that you take a few minutes to respond to me. You're a wonderful writer with beautiful ideas and a penchant for fleshed-out, three-dimensional characters that understands what I'm trying to do better than most ever will. Playing Final Fantasy XIV was worth it just to meet you, so try not to doubt yourself, please. If not for me, then yourself, because you deserve it.
  20. Oh god, I have to meet Pyehra on Vetiver at least once. They have waaaaay too much in common not to give it a go.
  21. Vetiver would definitely be Sky Ferreira for sure. Sultry, but a little lazy: FSCZerzrUmo Foxglove, on the other hand, would be Meiko Kaji. Gloomy voice for a gloomy lady: N5iUE8eqtxY
  22. It can be sexist depending on context and intent, especially given that women are often a target for it more than men are. That doesn't mean it's always as such, though. The world isn't exactly full of absolutes.
  23. Rin was one of the first friends I made in this game. Really sweet person and great roleplayer. Can't recommend enough. p.s. Rin should expect lots of affection from Vetiver in the future. ;3
  24. I think all of the races are attractive, I just don't have the time or enough concepts floating around my head to play them all. I also prefer to pair my characters with others that happen to be around their height; since I play a Moon Keeper and a Midlander, this limits them to both Hyur clans, Miqo'tes and minimum height Elezens. That about sums it up for me, but I can't speak for anyone else.
