  1. I meant it wasn't the fuel in regards to the common triangle used to show what is needed for a fire, for simple clarification's sake: And if you want the most real answer - Wind extinguishes Fire in this arcane rock-paper-scissors situation because the developers and lore-writers decided the elemental circle was going to work that way. Maybe there's something special about magic wind that's better than normal wind; maybe it's more of a vacuum effect and thus removes the oxygen rather than introduce more of it. Who's to say? This is also a world with dragons, the Echo, islands that float in the sky, people that can jump hundreds of feet in the air, and beings that can burst into existence if you want it bad enough (and have enough magic crystals). If you can suspend your disbelief for all that but "wind putting out fire" is where you draw the line, I don't know what to tell you. :tonberry:
  2. In all seriousness... oxygen, while part of the triangle for fire, isn't everything. It also includes the fuel (oxygen isn't the fuel source, something like wood or the like is the actual fuel) and heat. Wind can move the heat away from the fuel, which is why blowing out a candle works instead of just making the flame bigger.
  3. ... Using the Aetherometers or whatever they're called as tourist cameras is a nice touch. I approve.
  4. So we can spend a Minor Milestone to purchase one of these? :?
  5. I tend to not have issues healing either, but I'll still point it out.
  6. Holy cow that was fast. You finished that, like, just after I went to bed for the evening. And so pretty, too! I'll hafta find a spot on my wiki for this one.
  7. Always willing to draw a lalafell, it's my main and favorite race after all. Thanks a lot for the compliments! Compliments well-earned! I have to say my personal favorite that I've seen so far is that Secret Santa gift with the cat mountaineer. He looks so proud of himself. Also, those commish rates are super-reasonable. I'll have to keep those in mind and spread the word around.
  8. Lydia has the right of it. Just keep in mind that all the characters to be transferred (max is 8, of course) all meet the requirements TO be transferred... which I believe is only to be about three days old or so? So I'd definitely make any extra alts ahead of time so they're all set to go when you get the transfer! And, of course, hope to see you when you finally make that crossing to Balmung!
  9. ... o Ao You're doing free requests with art that pretty? I mean, seriously, I just glanced at your Tumblrs and saw nothing but pretty stuff. Also, a fellow Overwatch fan, which is always a plus (Imma Lucio main, myself, with a side of Reinhardt and Torbadorbajorn)! Um... would you be willing to try drawing a Lalafell? I have two to pick from. The happy dork and the dour older brother. Quick image grabs of each, for your perusal, starting with the happy dork: ... and the grumpy older brother:
  10. With folks like that I tend to counterpoint with "your DPS doesn't mean much if everyone else dies." I like throwing up the deeps when I can too, but you are playing the HEALER class for a specific reason, so it's best you do that. ... Granted, I main SCH, so my DPS is usually just refreshing DoTs before going back to healing.
  11. I don't know if I have invite privileges or I'd offer to help.
  12. You made it, yay! As for where to start...? Well, there's a few options: 1.) Make/respond to Making Connections threads. This is good for getting some initial, small one-on-one or small group RP going. Hopefully with people you and your character can get along with. It's a good toe-dip and starter for those who have never RPed at all or RPed in an MMO before, and just a nice beginning in general. However, it can involve some waiting and schedule-planning that can delay things. 2.) Random Walk-Up RP. There's a few hubs in the world of Hydaelyn where people just hang out looking for some random RP - the most notable of these being the Quicksand. You'll usually find people holding up the railings and idling on the bar stools and at the tables waiting for someone to come and initiate RP with them. Downside is, that usually means you'll have to do the initiating or join the many wall-flowers that frequent these sorts of areas. Plus, the Quicksand itself has a bit of notoriety of being where the ERPers gather for their own flings of fancy in party-chat and tells. 3.) Attend events. The Event Calendar on the site makes mention of just some of the many events that go on in Balmung. Finding one that catches your interest and attending could get you exposed to a whole slew of new RP pals and plot threads. However, with larger events you'll have to deal with heavy chat-scroll and/or people trying to avoid said scroll by partying up and RPing there instead of out in the open. Plus, a lot of the events tend to angle towards fightan or singles/dating scenes, which might not be your cup of tea. Um... I think that covers the main ones. There's probably other methods that are slipping my mind right now, but those are the big three I can think of to help get you started on finding some RP. Hope it helps.
  13. I would like that just for having stuff "on display" for a weapons/armor shop... so I hope that's a thing that happens.
  14. Well, when you both migrate over (Darlingist AND Rhysa, since there's a common thread here!), I wish you guys the best in finding some RP! ... And if you're ever in Ul'dah or Limsa and in need of a good IC armorsmith, my little dork Chachanji is a potential choice!
  15. By the by, Crayons, just lemme know if/when you want our characters to meet up. I know we chatted a bit after trading friend requests IG, but I forgot to mention that bit.
  16. You can actually transfer them all at once if they meet the requirements - being able to transfer eight characters from a single server to Balming for the single transfer service can save you a lot of money in the long run if you intend to play alts! This is pretty highly recommended if you have a bunch of character ideas. Or even if you don't, you'll still have the characters there to fantasia/name-change/whatever should the inspiration hit you. And you won't have to pay the transfer fee again.
  17. Sounds good to me! Chachan is mostly in Ul'dah, but he does travel to Limsa to help out with the guilds there... and has friends who live out in Gridania. So it's pretty easy to have him pop up wherever's convenient for you.
  18. Also, they're supposed to be upping the XP you get from FATEs too according to the Letter? So that plus this and the other bonus XP equipment (and maybe food for just a little bit more) should make leveling far easier.
  19. Chachan is a Doman smith if you want to pursue that angle a little bit - he focuses primarily on armor due to his nature, but he is skilled at weaponcraft and repair as well. Not to mention he's a soft-heart if you feel Mide could use someone like that around. ... He's interacted with quite a few Xaela as well. Including the Dotharl, and actually somehow managed to get one to question their own views on combat despite being not all that bright. It was fun.
  20. The only correct answer is Lalafell. In all seriousness, don't worry about what everyone else is playing. If Miqo'te is your favorite race, play a Miqo'te. What matters is you enjoying playing the character you're creating. After all, you're the one who is going to be looking at it and RPing through it, so might as well go with what you like. And to alleviate some concerns on the Lalafell front, both my Lalafell are in relationships! So there's nothing keeping you from relationship RP by playing a Lalafell. It just might be a bit more difficult compared to the taller races.
  21. So I'll be stuck waiting in the Goblet looking for someone to move. Good to know.

    Hello :)

Yeah, trying to get a house on Balmung is basically a pipe dream as well. I've been trying to get one for one of my characters for months now... and am vaguely hoping the new housing area in SB will give me a chance to finally be a homeowner. Unfortunately, as I said, though... you really won't be able to "create" a character on Balmung. It's full to bursting. The only way to get a character on it is by character transfer. So I don't know how well doing that to look around will work out for you.

    Hello :)

I must note that "creating a character" on Balmung itself is nigh-impossible these days since it's basically on perma-lockdown due to population size. Unfortunately, to get a character (or characters) in requires a one-time real money payment - a character transfer. On the plus side, however, one paid character transfer lets you move as many as eight characters at once from one server to another. So, if you're going that route, I'd recommend making alts for all the ideas for characters you might have and then bring them all over at once. Even if you ultimately never use them, they'll still be there in case you decide you want to play one of them.
