What, you don't want to see a Male Roe stuffed into that outfit?
-
Aah, I had noticed little notes about matriarchy in the naming conventions. I wasn't sure if that was reflected in their culture, or just a naming quirk- definitely will look more into it now. Also thank you I am now enamored with the idea of getting potions for my POTION GUN. I will never apologize for promoting the idea of a potion gun. And yes, it's very much a culture thing for the Keepers. Sounsyy almost certainly has a better breakdown on it somewhere... but the general gist is that the families are primarily female-dominated and led while the males sort of wander about to contribute to continuing the species and never really staying to participate in the family circles. Something like that. And just as an added note to something that was touched on by you and Aya... I'm sure you'd be just fine goofing around with potions and the like that aren't strictly canon. Though how much you can play around with it will likely depend on who you're RPing with. You should be good enough for the most part, though, as long as you're not making Eorzea's equivalent of Captain America's Super Soldier Serum or something.

A bit double-posty, but I also finally put up my Grumpy Gogon shots for the latest patch on the Tumblrs. It was fun the first time around so I figured I'd do it again. You'd figure that such little content wouldn't provide enough grumpfayse... you'd be wrong. "Oh, yes. I'm so surprised by this big reveal. So very surprised. Can I go now? I have things to do."

Just to help in this process... if you want a matriarchal character, that sounds very much like you want to play a Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te. They have a matriarchal society so you'd be all set there. Then, the alchemy stuff can be covered by... well... alchemist. As a fellow "crafting"-centric character (Armorsmith specifically), it's very possible to run a character who isn't completely combat-oriented. And I've done some RP before with an NPC who messed around with potions (well, he called them "konkoctions" - clicking his tongue on each of those k's) and whatnot to various effects who was decently well received. ... And even if she does get in a fight, you could probably go the old FFT chemist route and hock potions at things (or if you really want to get meta with the FFT-chemist angle, level MCH for the gun). So you're pretty good to go on that angle, and if you have any other ideas or questions regarding lore and whatnot, there's plenty of folks here who can cover that for you.

The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales

I actually feel bad when I'm tanking that thing and I'm TRYING to move it out of the lava void zones and it just wants to... chill in it for a while and do all its AoE moves first. -

I prefer Robot Masters, myself. That way if I don't like them I can get a blue guy to go deal with them.

Wayfarer's Gift Giveaway: March **Winners Announced**

I think I'll want that one on Chachan, so I'll try to reach out to you tonight. -
The version for the Titan fight was put on the 2.5 Before the Fall OST. (2:24) I think that means we'll see something... maybe not a full length rise. You know, being a bit of an older gamer that grew up in the Atari/NES area ... these chiptunes feed some sort of starved nostalgia monster dwelling within my core. And leave me wanting for the entire FFXIV soundtrack redone on the 8 or 16 bit board. x_x Here's for hoping they release that Alex track at somepoint. I am also a big fan of chiptunes. As such, I share this with you: PA0tS_0CzrE EDIT: Also this: VV1filOxJaE

I can field this one, I think. There actually IS a part of a Lalafell's name that dictates the family, but it's actually limited solely to royalty and the like. Case and point? The Sultana of Ul'dah. Nanamo Ul Namo. The Ul denotes her as part of the Ul family. Mirroring it in Sil'dah, the Jewel's old counterpart, was the Sil family. Most Lalafell don't have that, however. ... That said, similar naming conventions and such are definitely a good way to show family without being royalty, as with the Coco family you mentioned.

Free kupo nuts! They've been enslaved and harvested for far too long, kupo! THEY MUST BE FREE TO GROW WILD AND UNTAMED AS HYDAELYN INTENDED, KUPO.

As a fan of Tactics Ogre, I appreciate this.

hhHM3s9L4kM Loved the original song a lot, official remix of it for the new game is really good too. Also the vid has googly eyes, which makes everything better. That's three for three right there for me. Been listening to it on and off for a week or so now, maybe longer.

... R-RP? :? -
I have no idea what you're talking about, Amnesic. ... By the by, this is sort of what I was describing, in case you want to try these outfit pieces. All of which are dyeable. Holy Rainbow Hat (All Classes, Level 53) Alpine Coat (All Classes, Level 1, MSQ Reward) Butler's Gloves (All Classes, Level 1) Butler's Slacks (All Classes, Level 1) Butler's Gaiters (All Classes, Level 1) The only issue is that the Butler pieces are Male-only, but you can buy the Best Man's Slacks and Gaiters from Rianne the Clothier in Ul'dah as a solid alternative (which are also all class, level 1, and dyeable). No gloves, though you could just use some bog standard silk gloves for that, but you'll probably want to forgo that anyway since the gloves will hide rings. I mean, the Shire healer gloves could work since they do allow you to wear rings over them, but that's level 60 healer gear.

Ah, sure, if we can catch each other, I suppose. I must admit I haven't really used the crossworld PF much beyond light grinding for my Anima weapon.

Well, just to focus on the outfit idea, I think you could manage something. I know for a fact there's a nice heavy coat you get from the MSQ near the end of HW - all class, no level restrictions (I think?), but I don't recall if it's dye-able or not so you may be stuck dyeing everything else around it. For the hat, I think there's some gathering hats that look like fedoras - I don't quite recall if there's an all class option as well or not, but it might be worth looking into regardless. And, finally, I think there's a wide variety of dress shoe options amongst the tuxedo and butler-y outfits that you shouldn't have any particular issue finding a pointed shoe. Other than that, I'd say just look through the Market Boards and see if any of the clothing pieces click for you or not. Unfortunately, I don't think I can help you too much on the LS side as I am over on Balmung. Hopefully someone from there will post in here and give you some suggestions, though!

I think it's generally just an asspull to explain why something from Eorzea would get a Doman-sounding name. "Shinryu" doesn't sound very Ala Mhigan, nor like anything the Alliance probably would've named it if left to their own devices. -

Maybe I misread the text but I think they're using the Doman name as a matter of convenience since it looks vaguely like something from their legends? It's not a Doman Primal, the Alliance is just borrowing the name so they have something to call it. -
balmung Starsfall, Once Again, Sign-Ups OOC Masterpost [Fate-14

I've been meaning to try and get into one of these FATE events at some point or another. If you're willing to have me and possibly help me update the decently outdated sheet I made for a lark a while ago... I think Chachan could possibly do Event A? He's a smith, so I could see him coming along to help eyeball the quality of the ore at the Burning Wall? Something like that. -
Glad I could help. I don't quite recall if he's on the RPC, though, so you might have to find him on Balmung - likely at the Runestone on Sundays, as I mentioned earlier. Or maybe just around. If I run across him or remember his name better I'll correct myself here so you're not looking for the wrong person. EDIT: I remembered the name right! He won the Runestone once (when he was a Highlander instead of a Miqo'te), so there's a picture of him in the Runestone thread with his hat. Easily recognized the hat.
-
There's actually a male Miqo'te who participates rather regularly at the Runestone who refers to his style as "Hat Magic." He literally has a big top hat and it is where all his spells and such emanate from. Name is... Zero Dawnstar or something? His name escapes me but if you ask around there, you'll find a way to him I think. He's had fire bunnies come bursting out of it, "caught" a spell in the hat and sent it back, and other such tricks. He very much plays his matches as a theatrical performance, bringing out all sorts of glamor and flair that I think might fit what you're looking for. Or, at least, serve as a bit of an inspirational springboard to work off of. But yeah, I think you'd be just fine with exploding cards and other such tricks tweaked for more combat relevance.
