I never thought of that before! I'll just hop back on my male Keeper Miqo'te and start a traditional clan based group that's highly matria- Whoops. What, exactly, is stopping you from making a Making Connections thread wanting to gather people to buck societal trends? I mean, there's a god damned Garlean FC and you're upset there's not a pre-existing off-beat RP culture for you? I said it in another thread today and it stands: Nobody here is obligated to cater their precious RP time serving someone else's need for a story. You want a traditional clan-based RP group? Then gtfo of the cities and go back to not being a part of traditional Eorzean society. Whoops. No one's allowed to judge me, I've got my reasons for being more blunt than others. One may need to appeal to others to nourish that sort of initiative, and it seems that the poster in question is determined to do anything but. ANYWAY. HIGHLANDERS. I'M CURIOUS. How do you roleplay your characters? Well-integrated into their respective pieces of Eorzea? Clinging to the ol' warrior tribe in the mountain ways? As pretty princesses? TELL ALL! Well I'm still working on the story with the person playing Amelia's brother, but so far we like the idea of striving for physical superiority as an apex accomplishment and perhaps a hint of race superiority over the small midlanders?... Though both of us are kind of learning lore as we go, so things will probably change a bit. :?

I think it boils down to why individuals RP. Are they seeking deep immersion in setting lore? Are they simply living out a personal fantasy vicariously through they're character? I think most of us are a bit of both..leaning more one way. Luckily we can choose who to RP with and who to avoid. Surround yourself with people that match your RP goals I guess. As a personal opinion... I think you can successfully RP a sexual culture without spending most of an evening typing out the act of intercourse. I think OP was more concerned with the ignorance of lore rather than emoting tail swishing lol..though everyone seems to he fixated on the latter to invalidate OPs argument. Let's take a gander at the wiki so I can, as a new player, understand miqote. 1. Miqote have a lesser presence than other races. (Reality, miqote are the majority on Balmung. At least based on a pie chart I found. It's not reasonable to force people not to play a race because there's already a lot on the server,but it's food for thought.) 2. Shyness / solitary lifestyles. (Reality, it almost seems like miqote are the most outgoing race I've seen so far in RP. Should EVERY miqote be brooding and live like a lone wolf? No, but as an RPer, you should at least present a reason why your character deviates from a racial norm.) 3. Seeker devotion to Ayzema. (Reality, I have not witnessed enough RP with miqote to know of their culture reflects their religion but I think it absolutely should. FFXIV is not really a world of atheists lol..) 4. Keeper devotion to Menphina. Conflict with Gridania forest folk. (Reality,same answer as #3.) 5. RP of day/night cycles. (The game has an in-engine clock with passing time. Are you a bad RPer if you ignore it? Probably not, but I think it could improve immersion no matter what race you're playing.) Tl;Dr this is just my perspective. It's nice if people put time into adhering to lore, but as long as someone doesn't make a character (regardless of race) strictly to be an ERP magnet, I really have no complaints lol.. As for Highlanders maxing out sliders, I made Amelia shorter!..... lol but I did max muscles because of her chosen main class (GLA/PAL) and her personality. Lord knows she'd probably faint if someone called her a sex symbol, assuming she even know what they were talking about .

I... hadn't thought of how the Balmung restriction might will still be in effect come Heavensward and severely limit AuRa creation. Best possibility I've read about AuRa and Heavensward in regard to RP in days, not even being sarcastic, I hope it stays locked. So...you're hoping new character creation stays locked throughout the release of the expansion...? Yes, anything to stop people from ruining AuRa the same way they ruined Miqo'te. I know it's a controversial opinion and perhaps a bit mean-spirited, but after a year and a half of polarizing lore, man-hating futa covens, and Hyur characters wearing cat ears and a tail, I'm done. The fewer AuRa the better. Lolwat? Hyurs wearing cat ears? Is that an actual thing?

Cullen is a dreamboat *dead*. Lol with that out of the way, I love Inquisition. Oddly enough, Inquisition is the reason I started playing FFXIV. I'm a bit of a completion whore and after 110+ hours into the game, I'm still not done with the storyline lol. I just needed a break before I tackled full completion of a new map (I just started the emerald graves before throwing my hands up). Phew!

I agree with a previous poster. If you want to lose weight permanently, you have to commit to new lifestyle. I personally fell in love with weight lifting and http://www.bodybuilding.com is a staple in my daily routine. They have a WEALTH of information, recipes,training regiments, supplement, etc. Make a bodyspace account,keep a journal,eat lots of protein and healthy carbs. LIFT WEIGHTS. LIFT WEIGHTS,GET STRONG. Did I mention you should light weights? Lol cardio is important to endurance and cardiovascular health, but running for an hour is going to do you a disservice. I eat on a 40:40:20 macro (as best I can lol). That means 40% of my daily calories are from protein, 40% are from carbohydrates, and 20% is fat. This may seem hard to track,but I use the myfitnesspal app and they make it easy! For training, I go to the gym after work 3-4 times a week for on average 1.5 hours or less. I usually get my heart rate up with 20 minutes of cardio (bike or elliptical usually. Low impact stuff is best), then straight into 40-45 minutes of weight training, then wrap it up with another 20 minutes of cardio. That's a lot of cardio but I'm currently trying to cut fat. I also want to reassure you that failures happen to everyone. I am currently trying to get back to how in shape I was a year ago. I stumbled and quit eating right as a result of an illness and then had to get surgery and couldnt work out for months. Does it suck to look in the mirror and see where I lost my muscle tone and gained fat? Hell Yea lol. But I use this to motivate myself, I don't let it defeat me. Hey guys, I'm planning on transferring my character into Balmung (staying up til 5am to try and get into the server is for the birds ). I haven't RPed in a while and was itching to get back into it in some way. I come from a Neverwinter Nights/Neverwinter Nights 2 RP background as well as briefly on Guildwars 2 and SW:TOR. I am curious if there are any other avenues of out-of-game communication, other than the forums. Do y'all have a skype group or a Teamspeak? Just curious! My only other question would be: what are the hot spots for getting into random open-RP without feeling like I need to have a guild to be included?:blush: I don't know what else to say but if anyone has questions for me personally, I'd love to answer them! I know it's cliche to say this but I look forward to getting to know you guys, IC and OOC.8-) MY RP Times: I stream every day (usually!) starting between 7pm and 8pm EST at twitch.tv/ratbirdchampion if anyone is interested, but that means my RP personal times won't start until 8pm+ EST.
