The people I've met here, and the fact we all are roleplaying hobos and share the same hobby! -
One can serve a nation without being their soldier. Like in the main scenario quests, the player does plenty of work for the Coerthan knights, thereby 'serving' them. Riku served Ishgard by proxy, but still served Ishgard. I never said he was an Ishgardian soldier, I never said he was accepted into Ishgardian society. Secondly, whilst I may have skimmed through a lot of the job quest dialogue, I saw no mention of the player being a Gridanian dragoon in the job quest. Granted, I reached 50 dragoon BEFORE 2.0 so things may have changed in the quest. Perhaps I missed something or perhaps that was something added in after ARR, whatever the case, Riku was still a dragoon, and he still served Ishgard, so my opening post does not change. Being the WoL =/= Player character, unless you roleplay the Warrior of Light. That said. Dragoons are being trained from their childhood, they in specific seek out orphans who hate the Dravanian Horde with a passion/got nothing to lose any more to become Dragoons. The WoL is a special snowflake who, as with most jobs, skipped trough years and years of training within a heartbeat and does not represent the job's true nature of skill and dedication needed. Surely non-Ishgardians can become Ishgardian, look at Lucia for example. But that takes years on end, and on top of that, I cannot see Dragoons being simply allowed to leave. Hells, I cannot see any Ishgardian being allowed to leave and slack off onto their Holy War, as levequests showed us off that people who cba to do shit will find their family in trouble for it. (However very few people keep this in mind.) ... Ishgard isn't as nice, polite, flowery, knightly, heroic as people make it out to be. It's a shithole filled with racism, classicism, xenophobes, sexism and all sorts of other terrible things as Vyce pointed out.

In truth, I find this a lot more refreshing approach then seeking it out OOC like most people do! That said, I don't have you anything to offer myself, but I do wish you luck onto finding a FC for your roleplay.

Not that often, but it happens! Happened a few time when Domri and Virella were going for one another's throats. I remember one time in particular it really exploded in terms of drama when Virella was being yet again be a xenophobic idiot, and things got flung to one another about their child what shouldn't had been said. Good story that though, even if I was sniffing behind my computer.

Hey there and welcome! Keep in mind you can transfer a char(s) from the EU date centre for free to Balmung, so you can always make an alt here!

balmung New Player, Looking for RP of Almost any Sort!

Be a highlander? Sure, Avelyn would just walk up, that's how easy it is with her! My wiki is linked below, however my playtimes are a bit hit and miss due to being from Europe, although due to my work I'm allowed to stay up till late o'clock, so it wouldn't be too hard to hit me up someday ingame if you're up for roleplay! -
Work in progress is what I want to say haha If you have potential ideas to share please feel free to give me some pointers and I'll definitely reflect on it when I begin to expand on the idea. Everyone has been doing this, you just come up with ridiculous bullshit while everyone is politely telling you not to do. I'm done with it. Your character is retarded, what could be forgiven, but your ooc attitude about receiving any constructive feedback is just being met with defensive crying, what is even worse. You know, next time just don't make a post here. You just want praise, not feedback. /back to afk land for a few more days, byebye. Mod Edit: User was reprimanded and placed on post moderation for this post.

If you are speaking about the woman at the tent? If you do the ACN quest, you sort of figure out, for a better lack of terms, is the madam of the whole business there.

I wouldn't use an au ra for a pureblood Garlean, seeming it is shown only pureblood Garlean hyur possess the third eye, even halfbloods don't get them passed on. However if you go for a full body glamour if you really, really, really want to look like an au ra, that is an option as well, although it's a bit overdone. I personally would just stick to a highlander hyur to portray them (if you are set onto being a pureblood. An au ra pureblood just doesn't make sense at all). But as people pointed out, being a diplomat is probably not something most people will roll with, and even Ishgardians aren't too friendly with the Garleans. Surely they do not have an outright war pre-3.0, but post 3.0 they vague quote "stand united against the Garlean empire once more being a part of the Eorzean Alliance". Having an OOC shield with titles really does not work, it is show not tell in roleplay. Let the major diplomacy ect to the NPCs. Be a spy of sorts, a defector, perhaps even going as far as having your Garlean spew propaganda secretly. Anyhow, in the end it's your $$$ you're paying, and you're entitled to roleplay as you want, however it goes both ways! People don't have to roleplay with you either. Nothing elitist and snobby about it, just conflicting interests on lore and types of roleplay. (And that comes from someone who roleplays with a pureblood Garlean quite often!)

balmung The Grindstone - Saturdays at 10 PM EST (9 PM Central)
Virella replied to YesGood's topic in Roleplay Events
Man, if it happens I got this time this Saturday (Given it starts at 4:00 here, and I'm probably, possibly back from going out by then), I will try to show up in the most ridiculous outfit, if not at least observe it! -
I find sexworker really offensive as a word myself, yet I'm not asking people to refrain from using that word; I can go on about a rant why I find it highly offensive, but I do not think this is the place for it. I am a sexworker. Thinking about it, it may be a language barrier thing we're hitting up against. Sekswerkers, the Dutch word for sex worker which you are using, mostly implies, if nearly not always, someone who engages into sexual activities with handicapped people in exchange for money. And that... wasn't the term I was looking for, prostitute is about the most technical, and polite term we use for these ladies and gents, whereas sex worker would be used for the one I described above! So my excuse for the confusion, will try to keep it in mind next time, but I hope you understand it from my point of view as well.

But perhaps that is my Dutch sobriety kicking in who has no issue with these ladies and gentlemen in the first place, whereas other countries are still far, far behind in that regard and tend to make it sound more nicely then it is.

There's no need to give them odd quirks to make them interesting, I think you got a solid concept to roll with! Perhaps you could roll him to be a Monk as well? However you sort of need to be 40+ to be trained in Ala Mhigo, else you would had been a student of a lost Monk, a thing a lot of people roll with if they do not want to be old highlander trash (honestly, we could use some more old highlander trash, but everyone wants to be a dashing 20 year old! Can't blame em tho, my elezen is only 29 herself). But being a pugilist is completely valid as well!

Not really, but I always thought their dancing was just a way of reeling people in, aka just ordinary prostitutes who happen to shake their hips, seeming Ul'dah doesn't shy away from that stuff. Anyhow some 1.0 stuff I managed to find about those type of ladies. Whether they are the same? Not sure, but I simply thought dancing girl was a nice way of saying prostitute really. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/41609-Request-Save-the-prostitutes

From tomorrow the 27th, till about the 31th, my playtimes will be very sporadic due to real life critting me over 9000, so I won't be online all that much! However I will still check the RPC everyday, so if something happens I need to notified of, throw me a pm in the meanwhile and I will try to sort things to the best of my ability And remember kids, I might not be online much in the coming days but.

Celebration of Autumn Stars - Sunday, October 25

Have some screens! -
I don't think the char is disabled though, I think it's the tribe's lore not to talk

Been both on Cerberus and Balmung, and I can safely say if your focus is roleplay, Balmung probably will feel like your home over Cerberus. Do not get me wrong, Cerberus is lovely, just not so much for roleplay as Balmung is; Balmung simply flourishes with roleplay whereas Cerberus is very lack luster. That said, I never had issues with finding roleplay here. I do admit though that finding roleplay in the mornings and early midday is a bit hard, but besides that? Plenty around!

I did have an idea once for an older Hellsguard prostitue named Rotten Cove. Do it
