I can see it. Though at the same time it fits what some people say is unattractive about Roe. Hell, I can't figure it out. Well he is a fine looking Roe! Can you blame people?

Virella would had been a Dragoon for certain, as men do seem to be conscripted into the army from what I can recall. Maybe a Temple Knight. Personality wise? I think fairly about the same in truth, perhaps a tad more cocky due to slaying dragons and claiming bragging rights over that. And probably married to some pretty elezen lass, and most likely Vi's male version would have had children already. Avelyn would be about the same, except that her backstory in Ul'dah would have a massive change, and ended up in the Bloodsands instead of doing all the other nonsense she did. And probably a lot more bastard children around then just one. She'd really remain the same person, I could reroll her as a man and nothing much would change but for some minor tweaks in her background as a whole.

Makes me miss a system I've used in another roleplaying setting; If your character got crippled, well son, enjoy roleplaying your character crippled and heavily debuffed in game for 24 hours of real life time. Same if your character got slapped to execution state (and got saved somehow), you had to endure 72 hours of real life play time before he or she was back on her feet (and your massive debuffs gone). Of course GMs would allow things to happen, to speed up healing if you did a proper event for it and all that, but the general consent was you did something stupid, or someone struck down your character, you had to deal with the consequences. And character dead was glorious as well; but rerolling another char was super easy as well, okay you might have lost your progression, but with a bit of luck, if you were clever enough to keep your gold not on your person, you could find a way to snatch it back, or else heh, see bandits running of with it (what was great fun as well, I absolutely loved thieves jumping onto me and stealing my currency if I were stupid enough to keep it all on my char). But to stop derailing; once more depends on the situation. Grindstone isn't the place to go lay down for hours, cry in pain due to the reasons people already pointed out above. Other roleplay? Make it as gritty as you want, as long both parties involved enjoy the roleplay.

Highlanders have less lore than Roegadyn, considering that Roegadyn have their own racial language and explicitly-stated origins. We can't claim the story of Ala Mhigo as 'Highlander Lore' in the same sense, as Ala Mhigo was a nation state comprised of varying races. While it's probably(but still speculation) that AM's population was mostly Highlander, we have next to no lore on the race itself. But if we're honest, the lore behind all of the races is very lacking, and it saddens me constantly. I do not know if I agree on that, highlanders have Ala Mhigo, their monks and all that, and plenty of quests surrounding all that. That said, yeah, I should had said Ala Mhigan, but the day I see an Ala Mhigan roe is the day I will be very confused. No one ever seems to roleplay non-highlanders from Ala Mhigo, with the exception of a few miqo'te I've seen around. It is not much, but surely more then roes have.

Think what Warren said is the thing I got to echo for the most part, however adding some personal feels to it. I'm a massive fan of roleplaying elves, so elezen obviously are my first and foremost love. When it comes down to roes though, I find their lore a bit lacking. Highlanders have this amazing story you can work with, whereas I find it for roes a bit lacking. Elezen (especially Ishgardians) have an amazing story to work with as well. If only roes had a bit more to talk about but "Gah I got kicked out of my house as a Hellsguard/Yarrr pirate things as a Seawolf" I would be more inclined to roleplay them. That said I do have a lovely femroe alt who I enjoy roleplaying, but my lanky twig and drunken monk simply get the attention above her due to lore being more interesting to me personally.

Depends what sort of roleplay, who's healing ect! But I did it in so many different ways over the past fer years, its really on the spur of the moment thing for me these days.

Same here, we used to have Drama Central subsection. It was great for keeping most drama and snarky shit out of the other subsections, of course things would still slip in serious threads because everyone makes mistakes.

Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire]
Virella replied to Ignacius's topic in RP Discussion
Ishgard: That Douront strumpet who got knocked up by an outsider. The rest: "Who?" I fear she's really only known in Ishgard and areas, for the rest of the cities she's just another random individual passing by. And roleplay has led up to her reputation going down the drain in Ishgard and basically being promoted to Brume scum. -
Don't know, Ishgardians were pretty happy to execute Au ra in mass numbers (See DK questline). I'd say it is both.

Can you RP evil Dark Knight and have it lore friendly?
Virella replied to Branson Thorne's topic in RP Discussion
You can be the most evil character around, while still being 'good' at the same time. Your character just needs skewed views in terms of morals, and you are good to go. Really, as long he or she thinks she's doing the right thing, you can do a lot in order to let them do atrocious things. And else succumbing to the darkness within is an option as well. -
Hello and welcome! I used to be very much the same like you. I did not know of a roleplaying community even existed on FFXIV. Thankfully I had the luck of making an alt at the time on Balmung, however I did end up transferring my main in the end to Balmung anyhow. Sadly enough for you though, you're subjected to transferring from another server as sadly enough the server here is constantly locked. However, as you are still new to the server, you can still conjure up whatever character concept you had in mind, and no doubt people would love to help you out with that on the RPC !

Hi there! I got a 42 y/o Ala Mhigan, a Fist of Rhalgr, would could probably fit in with what you are looking for! Her Wiki is still a massive WIP, but basically she has been trained in the temples belonging to the monks, dealt with the Mad King and the Garleans alike. Also has a rather dodgy history with Ul'dah due to fleeing there. So if you want an older Ala Mhigan for your roleplay, I'd gladly offer her up! Just give me a shout and we can figure things out no doubt

I mostly try to go with a friend at least, but I can understand that is not always an option. I tend to block out people completely when I'm not roleplaying with them as some above me stated, I simply filter the background noise as well if that makes sense you know? That said, I do look out for my char's name being mentioned, or something what could refer to them. Sadly enough I find some people aren't just worth trying to roleplay with; I have a group of people I find absolutely dreadful to roleplay with, they reply, but with just yes or no's, sit there and do nothing to keep the roleplay from evolving naturally, it is really hard to deal with. What I always find a good thing to keep things going is asking questions, most people do tend to respond on that, and if you get a good roleplayer, heck, you will either find plenty of reason to interact in the next line, else eh, just move on, leave the event and try to find other rpers!

Thank you for making this! Was great fun

I'm sure that is terribly outdated by now though? I'm not quite sure! But it seems to be having the same intentions yeah

Sometimes don't work out IC, sometimes they don't work OOC. Personally I would just try to leave on good terms I was in a FC before were I genuinely liked the people in, however playtimes were hit and miss due to timezones difference. I sometimes still roleplay with some of them, so it really doesn't have to be 'burn all bridges' scenario!

balmung Looking for Scholars/Scholar RP
Virella replied to Mikel Hunter's topic in Chronicled Connections
All I can say is that you're not looking hard enough! There's plenty of nerdy types around, however perhaps give some of the LSes a good look? There are some who are more focused onto the type of roleplay you're looking for -
balmung Feisty Ala Mhigan Monk LF more contacts!
Virella replied to Virella's topic in Chronicled Connections
Welp I think I got back to most people, and thank you for the ingame whispers as well! Not going to lie but I would love to meet more Ala Mhigans, and especially the older generation (35ish +) are very much welcome! I know we are a rare kind, but if you happen to have one of the older Ala Mhigans, please throw me a message, I would love to meet you IC! -
Sadly enough I've seen it happen though; just a few months back my neighbours FC got scammed on a LARGE house. They couldn't even get their gil back. Not sure how they solved it in the end, but it was a massive drama, and lots of gil got stolen. Fix housing issues already, and we wouldn't have this in the first place :<

Can't wait to see how this will go

Blood does seem to hold aether, seeming in the MQS you need to gather some of the beasttribes, and turn it into a potion. If I remember correctly. So I guess drinking blood might have some aether, so it could make sense? I don't know, it sounds like more of a trouble then it's actual worth.

All hail Estinien Wrymblood, Slayer of the Moldy Brume Demon.

Being an EU wow roleplayer. We only roleplayed in future tense, it was mind blowing to see people roleplay in past tense. I quickly enough adjusted though, I wouldn't know how to do it any more in present tense! That said, it sometimes pops up during emote battles, as indeed, you give people more of an opening to react onto stuff.

With Vi being pregnant, she'd most likely be eating it all herself Ave on the other hand would start handing out booze. Even at kids. She's very responsible.
