  1. I'd could highly recommend to transfer to Balmung. I know its $18, but you can transfer as many characters with you from the old server to Balmung, provided they are 3 days old and above level 15 or something? (as long you got a sub for more then owning 1 char on a server obviously!) Someone else would need to clarify that for me though. While I have no FC/LS to offer, I'd still like to extend my offer for roleplay regardless
  2. Despite being away for a few more days, I just have to chip in that people absolutely love bashing down onto Ishgardians who aren't exiles, heretics or sympathisers. While I have no issue with it IC, I've even managed to get OOC blog posts about myself (in the lines of "I fucking hate you because your character is so fucking obnoxious, go kill yourself please" x_X) It is a thing us Ishgardians somehow seem to be an easy target for, because hell, Ishgardians simply don't get along with people IC right away (unless you are the exile, heretic, sympathiser lot), and people tend to take it as an insult OOC. I tend to just laugh it off, throw them on ignore. Ain't worth my time. People who can't divert IC from OOC are the worst. That said, most people dislike Virella, Virella dislikes most people simply for the fact they are not Ishgardian and treats them like trash. I do not mind the IC clashing, the nagging, the bitching, the fights ect, I expect it to happen. But as soon as it turns OOC? I'm out.
  3. Thursday till Monday I basically will be gone due to having people over irl! So please look at the other names mentioned in the LS thread if you wish for an invite as I simply won't have the time to log on properly
  4. Can't see people having an issue with it OOC, as long you make clear your character is bullshitting. However I hope you are very much capable of diverting IC from OOC because you have a chance of people being flat out rude or cruel if your character is bullshitting them. Using the female nuhn for example, might piss off some tribal cats, people may question your characters sexuality, gender ect. I know some people don't like those topics being touched upon in roleplay. So do think twice if you want to do it or not. Are you capable of not confusing IC with OOC? Hell go for it, sounds hilarious to deal with.
  5. Can't monks open it with meditation as well though? Or am I making things up in my mind now? :?
  6. ESTJ for Virella. However some questions were a pain to answer because she is a completely different person around Ishgardians compared to when she's around people of the other nations; Ishgardians she's super social with, people from other nations she would prefer to ignore, get away from, or simply get in a fight with(verbally) aka being super anti social with them, unless they got her trust/respect somehow, but that is rare when you're roleplay the average scumbag Ishgardian and not Haurcefant 2.0. So I just gone for what for her is the usual business, being around Ishgardians! And ISTJ for myself.
  7. I don't think this is fair. Roleplayers, by nature, tend to be very story-focused, but we are a tiny, tiny minority of overall players. Many PvE-focused players honestly don't care about the story. They care about their PvE endgame and they get frustrated when there are arbitrary, artificial blocks put into place to prevent them from getting there in the most efficient manner possible. But if you think that gamers today "whine more" than gamers of yesteryear, I'm going to have to disagree with you. I've been roleplaying and playing various videogames for well over a decade now, and I promise you that gamers were bitching and moaning up a storm every bit as loud when I started many moons ago. I come from a completely different setting than most MMO players here, PvP one, not roleplay, not PvE one. If you made a new character, or hell, made a PvE char who you wanted decked out for PvP, holy fucking shit, you only did this as a status symbol. You KNEW you had to run said character trough all content, you KNEW you had dish out lots of shekles to get proper gear, and hell, if you were mad enough, you would get the most fanciest armor and weapons as well, who costed a lot of gold as well. Even having the SHOES of the armor set what considered a damn status symbol. No one was whining about it, and if they did? Everyone would call you a whining little bitch, and told you to suck it up and don't use PvE characters any more if you couldn't be arsed to deck them out with maxed out gear, skills and unlocked content. Because of you didn't? Holy sheet, you were fucking over your PvP team by lacking maxed out stats, or even worse, skills. You made your PvE characters for the epeen status, and you were simply required to go unlock shit, and you simply sucked it up, and just did it instead. Mindsets are completely different these days, people just expect it to be thrown at them compared to when gaming wasn't the mainstream shit. That said, PvP background, not PvE, not RP, people are very, very different there. Surely, I am not going to whine if they change the gating, but for now I just know if I make an alt, and I got two hopping around 50, I simply know I will have to go chew through the 3.0 content if I want them to 60 (Well I can dungeon grind low level shit with roulettes but...). It's a thing they are not going to change, so I am not going to complain about it. Same if I picked up another MMO later then the playerbase, I would be excited to catch up, not whine about it. I started FFXIV later than most, and I simply enjoyed catching up. I didn't give a fuck about the story pre-50, I enjoyed the game mechanics, the dungeons and most of all, the community. I saw no reason to pull out my whining card, but simply dealt with being behind most because the game was fun. BUT AS I SAID AND PEOPLE ARE OVERLOOKING IT ITS NOT A BAD THING IT GETS REMOVED DUE TO THIS CHANGE OF MINDSET. PEOPLE HAVE CHANGED OVER THE YEARS, GAMING IS MORE OPEN. THE MORE PLAYERS THE BETTER IN THE END. Learn to read, stop nitpicking. Trying to say that people are exactly the same as they used to be is nonsense. Its not better, its not worse, it is different mindsets of the average gamer, because things have become so mainstream.
  8. I can understand the decision though of SE, especially because gamers these days are not like they use to be. These days we whine about having to catch up after all, and for the newer playerbase it will be dealbreaker whether they get the game or not. That said I'd imagine they will conjurer up a good enough reason for 4.0 not needing 3.0, doubt Ishgard wouldn't have a part in it though, especially with the MQS ending, and if Ala Mhigo is indeed a part of the next expansion!
  9. Virella can't swim; does not like getting close to the sea. Is only really polite to Ishgardians, rest has to gain a shred of respect.
  10. I dont know why but this had me laughing I understand what you mean though ! I always love these occasions ! Also cheers for being around for my first seal rock win ! I recoginsed you from here but did not say anything because I was too busy dying O: Did you hear me say the N word? If you did IM SO SORRY! Im not ghetto i swear I-I just like screaming stuff when pvping ;_; But anyway thanks! Im a Maelstrom win god so we always get Wins when im around > Yes - that's right i was the one who said "Hyur, pls" I was in there as well, but I was too busy keeping your sorry asses alive with my heals
  11. I'm not buying au ra only being so low. It is probably all characters, including those of inactive accounts.
  12. Vi can write with both hands. The nerd forced herself to many years ago so she can work more efficient.
  13. Depends. If they just hit their head against the keyboard, and reading their text ends up being a game of hints, yeah, I will tell them to stop doing that. As well people using auto translate in their roleplay is like... no please stop that. But besides that? Meh. On WoW I was a bit harder on it, because everyone and his mum could download Misspelled. That said, I am Dutch, I got Dyslexia critting me over 9000 while roleplay often, I just slap open Google translate often. Not even to type in the Dutch word, but more so to have Google translate going "YOU MEANT X", and very rarely having to literally translate words from Dutch to English. Dyslexia is not seeing the difference between whether and wether. And not, for example, spelling I constantly as i. That is all just bashing grammatical rules in your head, everyone had to do it. Gods, it makes me rage inside when people who claim to have dyslexia that they cannot capitalize their sentences, use punctuation ect. But in truth? People with dyslexia tend to be the lot who takes care of their posts the most, because we know there is something off, just not exactly what. Then and than for example? Explaining that to a non-native English speaker + dyslexia. Uh. I literally cannot see the difference. I know there is one, that there is a rule to it, but I just tend to wing it, or avoid it completely when typing. And explaining it to me is not going to change a thing. That said, I've been told native English speakers fuck this up all the time as well so... guess we aren't that far off
  14. Yarp! Hell. We do not know things about magiteck, magic ect. It is a matter of how you character comes across. You can be the sophisticated mage, the technofreak with no social skills, the I act stupid as fudge merchant who's just playing you. I find imagination OOC, and goals for these characters make them a lot believable then having the players OOC have lots of knowledge on the subject (I admit though, I would pay my weight in gold to know magic ) Of course it is sort of mandatory you do know what the hell is available ingame in terms of lore; for example jewel crafting irl =/= jewel crafting in Eorzea. But heck, that is available to every roleplayer if they just have the drive to look things up
  15. Yes, bring all your femroes and sexy highlander ladies pls!
  16. Going to give a shout out to these lovely bunch of people! If you are euro scum, I can recommend those people! Inarah is one of the kindest people around I've met so far on FFXIV!
  17. Do people emoting getting a drink from Momodi count? Or people who post stuff like, 'Momodi handed over the key to the inn room with an exasperated look'. I'm very curious! Nah. I do not mind that! Makes the world feel more alive. It is not "I name my char Momodi, I copy her looks, and claim to be the one and only, and fuck you if you don't want me to roleplay a canon character." Write your own story with what you are given, but do not go copy pasta someone's else's character. It is considered the numbero uno sin when people do it with player created characters, and I feel like the characters created by the dev team should get that same respect you know? It is not up to you to write the story of those characters. What people do behind closed doors, or just make these characters for teh lulz to run around with it OOC, I don't mind. I get a good laugh about people recreating those character's looks ect, but as soon they treat it as their own character? Hell no girl, I'm outa here. Ohhh! I see! Thanks for the clarification! I see people with OOC characters like that but I don't really pay them mind. OOC toons can be whatever. I've never actually run into one IC before -- though I do see IC blogs and the like (usually made for shipping...eugh). No worries, I should had perhaps worded a bit better in my first post D: As for the eugh statement, I shall join you in unison making that noise till the end of days to express my feelings about that as well.

  19. Road rage all over the place. Virella has a shitty temper... it is good cars are not a thing in Eorzea.
  20. While I do not like outright copy pasting things from real life, because the game happens takes inspiration from it; I think having a conjurer with a shrine to honor the spirits the Doman believe in is a far stretch from imagination! After all, we got that oriental altar ingame for one, so they must be doing something in terms of prayer no doubt!
  21. After playing FFXIV for a while, I got interested in the Ishgardian lot. From how xenophobic, religious, and outright dickish they were, to how loyal they could be to outsiders when befriending them, I simply loved them. And on top of that, elves? Sign me up. As well I wanted to on the side of the more evil type of characters for a change, and with a loyal Ishgardian that was easy enough. Not questioning leadership, easily being fed lies by the Church, irrational, prideful, and would throw anyone into the abyss if they did something with dragons? Yeah. I wanted to be the average Ishgardian dick you see in your questline. The one who calls you an unbeliever, the one who would go scream heresy in your face, the one who would push you off cliffs in to please some goddess, the one who backstabs you in the name of the nation. I didn't want to be the Haurchefant, the Aymeric ect. No, I wanted to be your average Ishgardian elezen asshole NPC you meet in the questlines. And god I love being evil, narrow-minded, over religious, hypocritical in roleplay, because they are the very things I despise in real life. And I love magic. So she had to be a magic user!
  22. No problem! And say hi back!
  23. As for FCs, I can give you names, however I'd like to keep them out of the thread as I do not wish to see favouring one over the other ect But you can spot one or two in the linkshell directory! The city and the Observatorium you can find people at times. And I'm sure plenty of people are up for rp! However sadly enough I'm a bit occupied with other stuff currently, else I would be up for it !
  24. I imagine plenty would as long you announce the event on before hand + post it at the event section Sounds like a fun idea!
