1. I do not see why people would get offended over lore debates though. ESPECIALLY in a roleplaying LS/FC. If someone acts up as an offended obnoxious brat OOC, then there is no purpose onto continuing though. I absolutely love seeing discussions about lore though, always something new to learn. But. When it ends up in a "I do w/e the fark I want, don't judge meeeeee" then well eh. It's kinda pointless. Debates are to be had with people who've got an open mind. The ones set in their own ways are not likely to be changed in any case. Arguments are pointless. Debates are great.
2. More elezen makes me all the more joyful! Happy to have you aboard as well, and perhaps we may catch each other in game someday. Would love to have more elezen to roleplay with!
3. ^ the main reason why I'm planning onto having a male au ra so far. But there may yet be hope after all.
4. More Ishgardian scum! Welcome, welcome! We can always need more to show the uneducated the teachings of Halone. Joking aside, enjoy your stay here (but still roleplaying an Ishgardian, is kudos from me), and hope to catch you online someday!
5. Don't quote me on this, but they said they want the Gold Saucer gear to be accessible for all levels, and not only a thing for our gil millionaire overlords. Believe you don't even have to be 50, or finished the main story quest line. (Just can't find the source currently!)
6. I wonder what happens if you both got a house, just like I have currently eh... Time will tell I guess. But awesome news regardless!
7. Would say it depends on how the story is going to shift to Ishgard. As well how easy low levels can access it. But I'd imagine the Ishgardian lot and adventurers will mostly be there. Civilian characters, unless from Ishgard, will stick about in their 'main' cities in any case. Time shall tell! But I will be there mostly myself on my elezen.
8. Someone randomly gave me a minipet, what was a lovely surprise!
9. Waiting for more lore, but if they are indeed dragon offspring, I will be an au ra raised by his mother to be an instrument of her hatred against both races. Completely blinded and going down the 'wrong' path. I rarely give my character happy times, and this one will be no exception. That said, I'm really just waiting out to hear more lore before finalising the concept of him. But think most people are doing that in any case.
10. Literally not having a clue what my char wishes in that regard. Think finding a suitable partner is something what will take a long while! And on OOC level, having another char in another game with three pregnancies roleplayed out, and thus three children, I got my hands full with her already in that regard. She's my stay at home mum. Whereas my elezen is out doing her thing for Ishgard. So nope, no babies in the foreseeable future!
11. No of course! How else is an Ishgardian lass to behave after all! With that said, I hope Heavenswards give us plenty of reason to sin, and see more of the flaws of the Ishgard lot.
12. And what about people just wishing to be bystanders? Are we free to pop by as well? Let me know!
13. Welcome back! Hope you will enjoy your time back in roleplay land here on Balmung !
14. I really need to update this :L
15. In truth, I've met tons of non-native roleplayers, who you would think they were indeed from the isles (Brits). Also I've noticed, being Dutch and pretty heavy with dyslexia, that non-native speakers and people with dyslexia are OFTEN the ones with the best grammar in roleplay. They are the ones who are trying to hide the fact they are foreign/have troubles with grammar the most. Whereas I've seen British people in roleplay who made me cringe. unless peepol talk liek tis in roleplayz, maybe u shuld sai someting about it. But eh? Live and let live is the key. Some people are fast with typing, some are terribly slow, some are sometimes super fast, and some are sometimes super slow. You will notice if people put some effort in trying to come off decently, and that is what counts for me. I had to bash some grammar nonsense into my skull despite my dyslexia/being non-native, and I'd expect people to do the same. Admittedly, my grammar is a lot more wonky in FFXIV due to the lack of addons (such a misspelled WoW had. But even then I'm often tempted to quickly check 'difficult' words in Google Translate. Herp derp. I've gotten super fast at it though.) I hope once addons are released, someone will bring this in as well. But dyslexia is no excuse for typing i's instead of I's. Dyslexia is not being capable of telling the difference between "wether and whether". It makes me furious when people hide behind it as an excuse. Correcting us is an iffy thing as well. I wouldn't do it unless they ask for it. Trust me, us dyslexia lot are CONSTANTLY checking if we aren't buggering things up. The excuse making dyslexia lot aren't worth the time correcting. They simply do not care to put more effort in it! That said, I won't turn down people for roleplay if they got terrible grammar. I may twitch a few eyebrows IRL at most.
16. As an artist I'm not surprised. It is a massive bummer though for people with not that much cash to spend irl, not capable of spending, or simply not wanting to spend irl currency onto art. Also a bummer for artists who had this as their ingame income. But I have to agree. Trying to 'settle' and argument between artist and client over gil means that SE has to judge an ingame economy (what is hugely different per server as well) and the skill/time/effort the artist has put into it. Art is one of those things you cannot price, but the artist him/herself. Nothing holds artists back from doing it though. Just as with parsers, as long you do not mention them ingame, you can get away with it. Cannot blame the site for not wishing to step onto SE toes though and banning advertisement of it. It -could- get them in trouble after all.
17. Virella Douront - EU player - would love to have an invite as well!
18. Oh that it is! My FC suggested me to draw it after I was being annoyed at her in a dungeon. In fact, I still need to draw some variations with Minfilia and Shiva and other various NPCs! But being the lazy git I am, eh, that might take a while...
19. OOC: Hello there and welcome to my Astrologian Ishgardian elezen looking for more roleplay/buddies thread! Being fairly new to this server and not knowing were exactly to start, in the combination with me being from Europa, I thought it may be worth giving a shot posting a thread here in the hope to find some roleplaying buddies. Long story short, being absolutely hyped about Ishgard and Astrologian class both, I decided to make the daring choice to roleplay one before the class is actually released in Heavensward. My elezen lady from Ishgard is setting her feet in the other Kingdoms in order to find more star maps! Your character is a thief, managed to 'aquire' a map and wants to sell it off to her? Great! Does your character happen to be a pirate and doesn't mind her copying your maps for free or for a price? Awesome! Or is your character a trader, and wants to sell or trade them for something else? Hell, give me a whisper and I will send her your way. Basically, the possibilities are endless! She's primarily looking for star maps written by other than the Ishgardians. As a general rule of thumb, it should be 'known' some Ishgardian elezen by the name of Virella Douront is looking to buy star maps off people. There will be a few notes hanging in various locations to contact her on top of that! Aka, it should be a breeze to contact her IC for this. - As well, fellow Ishgardians, feel free to toss me a whisper if you wish to work something about our characters knowing one another in their pasts. I fear she is not a noble though, but just a daughter of a simple peasants and a knight within the Ishgardian army. But that doesn't mean she may know some nobles trough her work, or due to sheer chance, if you character happens to be one. So if this happened to remotely interest you, give me a poke ingame on Virella Douront or shoot me a message on the forums!
20. Personally I've always thought Nunh males are too precious for a tribe to let them go off adventuring. After all the Nunh has challenged the previous one to become the breeding male, and I doubt they never get 'promoted' to Nunh out of the blue. Not to mention I expect Nunh males take their duty very seriously and wouldn't have a sudden wanderlust due to this. I can't imagine the females wanting to have an adventuring Nunh. He would have less time to breed, if not putting his tribe in unnecessary danger due to his adventuring. After all, they do want that breeding male around to ensure the tribe's future! It is all a simple matter of taking your character's ideas in mind. If they ended up being a Nunh, they would had wanted to be such, and accepting the perks and disadvantages of being one. Tia's on the other hand seem perfectly capable of going out on their own, although I'd still imagine Miqo'te are very tight-knitted with their community by default anyhow!
21. Welcome welcome to the FFXIV roleplaying world! Nice to see you've played so many games before as well, and a lot sound familiar on top of that. If you up for it and introduce your red-headed lady to my elezen, feel free to give me an ingame whisper! Admittedly I'm from the EU zones, so my playtimes are sporadic at most currently, but I should be online later. (Doing some Odin farming for an FC member on the other server as I speak- eh type.) Hopefully see you ingame! Virella Douront
22. Welcome! Guessing from the time you are posting, you are from Europe as well. I would suggest checking out this Linkshell for European roleplayers. Fairly new here myself, so I'm currently levelling here. I wouldn't seeking you out ingame to do perhaps some dungeon (unless I just realised, you transferred a character here) if not roleplay together in the future. And if non of the two apply, and you are just looking for some morning banters, feel free to PM me as well. Sadly enough I cannot answer your questions all that well due to being new, but Uldah seems to be one of the mainhubs for roleplay. Hopefully see you around! Virella Douront
23. I. Basic Info Characters: Avelyn Firestone, Virella Douront, Lyanna Farborough Primary character: Avelyn Firestone Linkshells: Too many. Primary RP linkshell: Mythril Blades II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium to Heavy - Despite roleplaying mostly of the time, I do like to socialise, craft and do some casual PvE content at times. Views on RP combat and injuries: Combat is okay for me, provided people are willing to keep it logical. Rolls are fine, freestyle is fine with me as well, the latter reserved mostly for people I have some degree of trust into. Lasting injuries mentally and psychically I would however like to discuss on before hand. I have no issues with sparring, but proper combat once more requires a degree of trust on an OOC level. Views on IC romance: All fine by me! However Avelyn is currently in a committed monogamous relationship, and isn't seeking out more lovers at this current point at time. You're welcome to try to convince her otherwise, but I can't promise it will go anywhere. My alts are fair game beyond Virella. Although due to the fact they are alts I won't pursue any serious relationships with them. Casual flings are fine though*. *However don't except any ERP to come out of that. You're barking up against the wrong tree in that case. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Family is a iffy thing to do me due to past roleplaying partners who've left the game at random, or pulled off other crazy things (albeit thankfully not directed to me personally but people around me) which I won't enclose here. Everything but family though? Yes please! I love to establish old relationships, whether old friends, lovers, colleagues, anything works for me. Besides that I welcome all sort of roleplay. I especially love to get to know more OLDER Ala Mhigans. Views on lore: Lore is important to me, however it is not to say I am not against playing with people's headcanons, ideas and interpretations of the lore when it comes down to the lacking, grey areas of it (provided they don't go against established lore). Bending to some degree is fine. Breaking the lore isn't my thing. I will flat out refuse to interact people who roleplay as major NPCs from the canon FFXIV storyline. Nothing against you lot, but it breaks my immersion too much to be capable of roleplaying with such characters. Live and let live. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Say and emote is IC, unless the good old brackets are being used - I do however try to prevent this as much as possible. Linkshells can either be IC or OOC, or a combination of both, depending onto the nature and purpose of the LS in question. I prefer to keep as much OOC talk about of /em and /say during roleplay, and prefer whispers, party chat, or LS chat to solve issues if need be. III. Other Info Country:Europe Timezone:GMT+1, but prone to stay up way too late. Contact info:Through the forum, my Tumblr or ingame. Preferably ingame! Please don't: Interrupt my roleplay by seeking me out ingame. I have absolutely no issue with people randomly jumping in for roleplay, in fact I encourage it. However I do find it highly disrespectful if not immersion breaking if people seek me out and stand around to lurk on my roleplay without asking, even worse to stand on top of me and spam emotes and what not. Please, please do not do this. If you wish to observe, first ask, and if I, and the other people involved consent, please remain on a respectable distance while observing the scene. However I'd still rather have people joining in instead of standing by. Roleplay with my alts: I will log on any alt you desire to roleplay with! Virella is still about and around in the Mist with her husband and child(ren), Lyanna is roleplayed every month at the Sea Breeze Bazaar, but I'm willing to log onto her if you need a Thavnairian Alchemist! Really don't do the above.
24. Give us some more information on your character so we can work something out. Makes it a bit easier to judge if someone can hurl their character at them or not (or at least, come up with an easy excuse to do such)!
25. Even if I'm very new, and European, I wouldn't mind helping out! I do admit though, with raiding and the timezone difference, I'm not certain how active I can be, but I'd be up for lending a hand regardless.
