  1. I just wanna say, even though the Dragoon seems likely to be a male Elezen, that artwork is exactly how Rhostel should look. In my head. Also, my pet theory is that is a Scholar, and it's a second Job for Arcanist that will be added at the same time as Summoner. One that subs Conjurer and is a second viable main healer Job. We have two tanks, but only one healer? Arcanist therefore will be the only Class with two Jobs at launch, thus making it more attractive to level. That helps address the numbers problem of there being plenty of level 50s of every other class carrying over, but no Arcanists. But that's all just a guess, based on nothing but the rumour there's going to be a Scholar Job.
  2. Faris is one of my favourite characters from the series, but sadly, no.
  3. Should be Jawbreaker Jannisary, I reckon. :moogle:
  4. I haven't given up on this, in fact it's my priority as far as projects go, but I've done essentially nothing. There's a health-related explanation that's keeping me from drawing much in general, but I won't bore with the specifics. Basically, what I'm saying is I have nothing to say. :\
  5. I wasn't going to repost, but now it has to be done.
  6. I'd say the captain simply is his father. Not his original father, but so what? If he contributed to raising him and there's a paternal bond that'll never go away no matter the distance between them, that's good enough.
  7. If I had any money, I'd pay you full price. <3 You're still my favourite artist here.
  8. Just a single sister, with no more detail than a given name and the obvious shared history. Left open in case someone is looking to make a Highlander female alt or such and feels an family relationship with an existing character would be fun.
  9. I've been in good RP guilds who did solidly at endgame in WoW. Three of them, in fact, and been friends with members of others. None were hardcore at both, but that wasn't a matter of sacrifice, just shared preferences. But I'm not keen on endgame. It's something I can be pulled into, but not something I can devote myself to. I don't like myself when I do. I really do want an RP-focused Free Company.
  10. That is very neat. I'll just add that I reckon the reason the miqo'te perch on the balls of their feet rather than the traditional flat-footed pose might be just because it looks more catlike. Much easier to pounce from that position.
  11. In simplest terms: Free Company: Guild Linkshell: Invite-only chat channel
  12. Rhos is Demisexual, functionally Asexual. While she's capable of a romantic relationship, and has an occasional little crush, it's not something she spends much thought on. If something were to happen, her preferences run to the Bisexual; gender is important because she finds different traits appealing in men and women. She likes strong, rugged Alpha-males (who she can arm-wrestle), and soft, elegant, feminine women (who she can protect). Either way, she'd need a warm, friendly, empathetic sort. Nahct is absolutely Pansexual, being attracted to all sorts of sexy people regardless of where they are in the gender spectrum. She's also chaste, because she won't risk her fortune and social standing for pleasure. While she's entertained suitors (no euphemisms here) she's careful not to get enamoured of any. Most are obvious in how they think that her father's treachery makes her vulnerable, so they can marry into her wealth without bringing any real benefit to her. The rest? They're just less obvious. So for now, she's going to rebuild her company to prove her personal worth, so that she can find a mutually beneficial marriage. True love will come from rising profits.
  13. Too easy. Rhostel is Butterscotch Pecan, and Nahct is Licorice Twist.
  14. Free art project idea to anyone who wants it (seemed a good place to post since people are having sads about missing this one): A D&D-style Alignment graph. That's nine slots, for each of the classic Alignments, and another twelve if you want to include representatives of the borderlines between them. I don't respect them as roleplaying tools, but they can be fun to think about. But if someone does run with it, start a new thread right away! No sense derailing this one beyond this post.
  15. If alts are okay, then my little rich Roegadyn, Nahctgeim, would be lovely for the female Greed slot.
  16. I really don't care either way about whether there are pages for these characters or not. If it makes people happy, great. But please, can we stop referring to characters that are wholly created and directed by individual players as 'Non-Player Characters' no matter what qualifiers are added to it? It's making me brainmeats leak. My suggested terminology is Background Characters. (BCs? BGCs? Either abbreviation works for me.) It's short, simple, and very clear about what it's referring to. Aaaaaanyway, new wiki looks very nice. :moogle: Had to copy/paste and move Rhostel's page to reflect changes already made on the previous wiki, but that took less than a minute so I'm not complaining. Just making a note of it to remind others to check if any recent changes they've made haven't been carried over.
  17. That's not what I said. You're looking at implications that aren't there, not my actual words. Having differences with friends of friends is natural and nothing to worry about. That's why they're friends of friends instead of straight-up friends. But when someone's a harassing douchebag and your 'friends' care more about not doing anything to make him feel uncomfortable than worrying about your discomfort, they are not really your friends. They are his friends, and you're just someone they don't mind having around. I also said that assuming that Robromance actually has talked about this to the group in question. If it's still secret from them, that advice doesn't apply and Robro should know that without me having to say so. I started that post with 'If they know' for a reason. @Robro - Sounds like a decent plan. :moogle:
  18. If they know how he's acted and still prefer to be around him, you need new friends. Those people clearly aren't your friends after all.
  19. Actually, I think I'm gonna pass. Considering how little I really played 1.0, I don't feel like I have a place in the credits, even though I technically qualify. (That's not fishing for reassurance, just getting it off my chest.)
  20. Link for 'European' players. I still don't know what I will do. I have my options, just gotta decide which I'm happiest with.
  21. *totally agrees with Aysun* I don't see demeanours being viable, again due to the very different skeletal structures of the races. A Lalafell can't possibly move in some of the ways an Elezen can, nor can a Hyur wag a tail and wiggle ears like a Miqo'te. That means every set of demeanours has to be done individually for each race from scratch. Animation work takes a lot of time, especially to the standard already set, and there are diminishing returns for the value of what they'd produce beyond what they've already done. New emotes would be fine, if they're no more complex than the current lot, but whole new systems that add a massive animation workload takes away valuable time from the art team for creating other assets. Gear, monsters, environments ...these are for us as much as if not more than non-roleplayers. New gear designs are a matter of prestige for others, but they're an expansion to our potential wardrobes. New monsters aren't just new things to fight, they mean new lore. So do new areas, which may also be new venues for us to roleplay in. Sure could go for a wall leaning emote, though. Got a lot of use out of that in CoH.
  22. These are really fun. I have my fingers crossed. Also, this gave me an idea, though a more selfish one. >_>
  23. Absolutely nothing. But you'd get even more XP than usual for her level and strength. Pity her loooong respawn rate makes her not viable for level grinding. Or, for my Sea Wolf, a gilt compact that grants a Makeup buff that reduces your aggro very slightly. Honestly shocked no one's said pants.
  24. Depends. If they're supposed to synch up exactly so that characters make contact properly, no. With five different races, plus the differences between Hyur clans, plus both sexes, plus a height slider in character creation, the work to make every possible combination function correctly for even one emote is too much for something we can exercise our imagination to cover. The developers have many things better to do. If we're talking about a more general set of animations that don't need to synch up right, sure, that's reasonable. It does rule out some, like hugs, because that would be thoroughly unconvincing unless it's done totally right for those specific character models. Something like a slap and a slap-react emote could be fun. The slap doesn't need to make proper contact any more than combat animations need to. So long as the characters are facing each other and kind of close-ish, that's good enough for an MMO.
  25. Hi Chiara! Your name is one-half of one of my favourite art techniques. /Say and /shout as vicinity-based channels are indeed typically kept in character by roleplayers (don't expect non-roleplayers to respect that), as are certain Linkshells, depending on the purpose of the shell in question. A /tell is generally understood to be out of character unless there's a context given why it would be in character, but many will use ((double brackets)) to make clear a tell is OOC at least initially as a courtesy to fellow RPers. We typically use /emote for actions, which is also kept IC, while using *asterisks* to append actions to statements in say and shout is a matter of personal taste. Some find it useful, others find it makes their messages look untidy. "Quotation marks" are frequently used to insert dialogue in emotes by anyone, however. The default emote list can be used for actions, though only the most basic sorts like pointing, laughing or dancing are generally used. More specific ones can end up clashing with the way a character is intended to be portrayed, so they get most of their use when people are being silly. Thoughts are expressed as emotes, without quotes, by those who feel they add flavour or express complex visible emotions more succinctly than trying to describe the physical expression of their character. Others avoid them entirely for fear of metagaming or giving away inner details of their character, except perhaps when being silly. This thread is a great introductory resource, and the RP Discussion forum is full of useful threads as well as being a great place to take your questions if you don't want to keep using this thread for them.
