  1. It's not meant to have gems. It's meant to be a terrible place where we can say what's on our minds without having to be clever about it. The OP posted there, we could have destroyed her, we didn't. We poked fun at cliques, but NOT her. (Is it irony because the Void is pretty much a clique?)
  2. RP events are for RPing in public, not necessarily RPing with the public. If the latter happens that's great, but I guarantee event coordinators are thrilled when 2 or 3 groups of 3-5 people show up and mostly keep to themselves. Because that means the event had people, and was successful, and people will show up again. To RP at that bar/date auction/party again, and bring new faces that those people likely made in smaller coordinated RP.
  3. Going to a public event of scale is like going to a nightclub. It's loud (chatspam) and awkward to do alone. You might get lucky and find your friends, or make new friends, but people generally go there with people they already know to enjoy the atmosphere. The place to make new friends is by finding characters with similar interests/traits as yours and doing that. On a WAYY smaller scale. If you are making 20+ characters and none of them are clicking, then the error is NOT on them, it is on you. My character is a monk that has taken up hiding in Ul'dah by blacksmithing. For the last 3 years I've had fun with him doing that, but wanting to expand my RP crowd, I opened up a shop and threw up advertisements to let them come to me! And ready to RP monk stuff now that monk lore is likely to be expanded on in the new expansion, I went to where all the monks are and asked around and found a small group of people RPing and BAM! There I was, with new friends to RP with. Change your approach. Also anyone that thinks a lalafell can't be taken seriously is bad at FFXIV. Lalafell are the easiest to make joke characters and parodies with, sure. But REAL lala RPers are awesome.
  4. Nope. and yeah, I got two of the 99AP things strictly from fishing I think. I want more Arenea. (I prolly spelled that wrong)
  5. Yeah, what you're asking is people that interact with you to snap lore like a twig at some point more than likely. I mean if you play as a voidsent it's possible, I guess? But then you're asking for a lot of trouble when the word gets out. But if you wanna be a vampire, TSW offers this possibility!
  6. I'd been thinking about i t and I came up with the perfect quick description for the game. "It's like Dragon Age 3 without all the choices, romance, character development or customization. But its sure got a whole lotta quests!"
  7. ya gotta hold square the whole time.
  8. The thing is, I dont think I enjoyed the game enough to want to go back and see all that, and thats kinda poopy.
  9. Oops, that was ugly. Anyway, the game doesn't flow very well because they didn't allow the story quests to level with you, or add a difficulty option that allows this. If you do all the side quests as you come to them, you stomp on the main story, and that takes away some of the fun. But yeah, the game is very Witcher 3 like, with the addition of buddies to talk to and sort of give orders to, but not actually control. I enjoyed the story though, but because the end game+ content doesn't have as much story to it, I don't care, so I won't do it, and that's a shame because that's what the combat (awkward as it is) difficulty and leveling scale were designed for.
  10. Now that Im starting to look at RP seriously again, will you welcome my old, old Lalafell? He may not have been born in there, but he did his monkin' there pretty hardcore.
  11. Hey, my lala is an old as dirt monk, that counts, right?
  12. I liked the story, but it got tied up in a neat little bow too early. Like it wasn't a masterpiece but I really enjoyed 3.4 a lot, but the fact that it was "hey the Warriors of Darkness are gone and Ishgard is saved and the Scions are all back together again" was blah. There's going to be at least one more patch, and WTF are we going to do then? I mean sure it will be threads into Ala Mhigo but that story isn't going to resolve until the next expansion, so its just going to be a butt ton of cliff hangers til then? Boo. I think they should have closed with the Warriors of Darkness, then in 3.5 or whatever the last patch ends up being, reunite Papalymo and Yda with the group, and then have the threads into Ala Mhigo. Then at least there would be some story resolution along WITH the cliff hangers. As it stands the end of the expansion is going to be very hollow and unfulfilling. No resolution, all build up.
  13. I did not talk with Denn much, but with Dais he helped integrate Gilles into the FC proper. My heart hurt to hear this news and my thoughts are with you guys right now.
  14. If the healer or ttank is in like..180 gear or something, I'm not going to fret about it, or if they tell the party, "hey I'm new." or "hey I'm on the phone, so I might not be able to add much dps" I won't care, as long as they get the basics done. But if you're going too queue up with random people, you should expect to do the norm, and that's weave some damage in.
  15. Sir, did you ever Monk with rotating Fracture in, and not having to DK? Even with the new TP ability we get, I struggle massively at times near the end of fights. And that's outside the serious raids. Like Ozma? My damn, that fight is a TP heavy fight. I can't how much of a pain in the ass it must be outside 24 man stuff. Idk but I never have much issues with my TP as tank. That said, good ninjas will just give a look and throw it to whoever needs it first. Our nin back in the days used to throw it asap onto our monk at the start of a fight, and we always would have a second one up for when either our war needed it, or someone died. But that requires a ninja who doesn't tunnel vision 9000. Man, Fracture aint even worth it anymore. So much sad. It's still on my bar, and I use it sometimes, but then my TP is sad. On topic though. New tank in Final Steps. Obnoxious macros galore. Runs Shadow...snake dude all over while he tries to tank Shadow Dragon despite warnings before pull and during pull. "Monk you need to give me time to get aggro on Shadow Dragon plz, or he's going to run all over like that."
  16. Kinono is the best and if I actually RP'd regularly I would bother you all the time. But you get my endorsement for awesomeness anyway.
  17. I joined a Thordan EX party. It was stated that it was a learning party so I'm cool with the wipes, we are learning and it's all good. But after half an hour or so, one of the guys berates people for placing the dragoon jumps improperly, and then for the next 3 pulls he doesn't even BUDGE, doesn't even ATTEMPT to move the dragoons when he gets marked. I felt kinda bad, but it was 1am and I was getting cranky, so I thanked people for their time and left.
  18. Not to hijack the topic a bit, but can you use a controller in either game? I prefer action combat with a controller.
  19. It's an MMO with action combat that focuses on combos. (Sorta like MNK in XIV, but waay deeper) Unfortunately, everything else in the game is about as run-of-the-mill MMORPG as you can get. The questing is atrocious, but if you're going there for the RP community it wont bother you too much. Just grind your way to cap.
  20. I dont know if its the same group, but I went to a lot of events that Radio Free Gaia did in The Secret World. (That was fun!)
  21. in AOL in was Rhydin. (Or Rhy'Din or whatever) I remember many days of avoiding godmoding rafter sitters in the Red Dragon Inn, or the medieval taverns or whatever.
  22. I dunno about tenses, but the word "would" gets used too much. "Gilles would go to the bar, and he would get a mug of ale and he would sit down." That is a real post I saw, name replaced by my own. One would should be enough for the entirety of the post.
