  1. It's funny, because Marten is also named Arkwright and is also a young adventurer looking for his place in the world. The difference is, he's a lot less shy and a little more cynical in his outlook, what with the whole dead parents and exiled mother thing. He'd be a terrible mentor though. He hasn't worked out anything other than how to swing a sword himself. Still, If you'd like to meet him, he's usually hanging around Ul'dah somewhere, 5pm EST to whenever. I can't play until the weekend, though.
  2. I'm on my phone or I'd use your frame. It's nice. For Vassh, it's simple - Hector Barbossa - a pirate through and through, witty, often smiling, and a bit of a filthy vagabond with a flair for the dramatic. Spike Speigel - an operative who lives in the moment but is haunted by the tragedies of his past, who's eye is a literal and metaphorical symbol for the loses in his life. Holland Novak - he loves to fly, and as captain he knows it's his responsibility to look after everyone - even if things don't always go to plan and he loses his temper or does the wrong thing. Plus Vassh was meant to look like him. Marten is a little different. I won't do the full rundown, but he's equal parts Griffith from Berserk, Ned Bigby, and Finn the Human. It's a mess.
  3. Sr'vassh Nunh is an amateur engineer, but he specializes in airships, rather than weapons. He's also decidedly black market. So if you see him around, feel free to say hi. I'm always looking for more RP.
  4. Samurai. The whole reason I came back in the first place. I might even be completely redoing my alt Marten to better suit the job and lore.
  5. I don't know how useful it would be, but I did do a write-up on the Xaela when Heavenward dropped. It's not terribly informative, and it answers none of your questions, but what the hell? Here it is.
  6. Well, I did join the Coven after all. But I'm still looking for mates and rivals. My current base of operations is Gridania, and ICly still blocked from most of La Noscea. I don't hang out at the Quicksand much anymore, but if you see me out and about, even if my RP flag isn't up, feel free to approach. I don't instigate as much as I should, but I'm always open to RP.
  7. Sr'vassh is the last surviving member of his tribe - a sea-faring offshoot of the raptors called the Shark tribe. He's a self-styled Nunh and itinerant pirate, so he's an odd example, but he is still, technically, tribal.
  8. As my current RP main, I play with a deck of cards and do card tricks IC to attract attention. It's had a fairly decent success rate. But yeah, I'd echo the "make yourself stand out" advice.
  9. Like my good acquaintance and comrade - Kerrath - I too play a male Seeker - Sr'vassh. I'm also around most times so if you happen to see me, feel free to initiate something.
  10. I did that with my old RP character, Marten. Started with Thancred's hair, and then after becoming a dark knight (ICly), he grew it out. Now he has Thancred's second hairstyle, even though I haven't RPed with him since coming back.
  11. Sr'vassh Nunh smells like rocks and truth, apparently. Leaving aside that I don't know what truth smells like, I'll take it. Odd choice for an openly dishonest airship pirate. But wha' can ye do, mate?
  12. For this young pirate? [align=center][/align] His most obvious influence: [align=center]VvyZruSs3ds [/align] Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa.
  13. Orphaned kitten turns to crime, enjoys it immensely.
  14. I will strongly consider that, actually; good looking out. I read through the listing, and I like what you guys've got going on in there. The only problem I see is that Sr'vassh isn't really evil - more Chaotic Neutral than anything, if you get that reference. So he'd be a little less exuberant throwing in his lot with the sort who peddle drugs or keep slaves. That's not a no, it's a maybe. I'll keep my eye open and let you know.
  15. Hey, I'm back! Don't remember me? That's okay, I'm kind of a fringe element anyway. But with Samurai finally coming, I'm living up to my promise and returning for the foreseeable future. Meet Sr'vassh: [align=center][/align] Pirate, gambler, often drunken wanderer, and now fugitive! When we last saw young Vassh he was the sole survivor of the tiny shark tribe, a sea-faring branch of the raptor clan. His ship - and thus his family - was wiped out in the conflict with the Garleans shortly before the Battle of Carteneau. Sr'vassh - then a young, wounded marauder - watched from his sick bed while the Garleans razed his ship, sending the Ominous Wake to the depths. There's a blank patch in his history here, but he pops back up as an adult in Limsa Lominsa. For a little while, he joined a Lominsan Free Company, and used their airships to smuggle both Doman refugees and goods past Garlean blockades, though he has once again lost his ship and company after a brief run-in with the Yellowjackets over proof of ownership. Now, he's hiding out in Ul'dah until it all blows over. Sr'vassh is a wild and irrepressible pirate with a tendency to talk fast and say nothing important. He's an unrepentant thief and a bit of a rake, and most of what he owns was borrowed indefinitely from people he's met. He has a long-winded and often only partially true story for everything, and pretends to know more than he does. Or pretends to know less, as the situation merits. He has his secrets, is what I'm saying. He also talks a bit like Captain Barbossa from Pirates of the Caribbean. It's an affectation. Probably. He's taken the name Nunh, for no reason other than nobody else in his tribe owns it. As far as he knows, he's the only Sr left in Eorzea, and is secretly pretty desperate not to be anymore. He's in the market for friends and lovers, you could say. A little about me - I've played FF14 off and on for a few years and I've role-played a lot of it. Sr'vassh isn't my highest level character, or anywhere near the cap. Or Heavensward. I've also spent a lot of time RPing in WoW, FFXI, SW:TOR, and the Matrix Online which is sadly long dead and buried. I'm also a DnD player since I was eleven, and RP is my guilty pleasure. Or my coping mechanism, I'm not sure which. I'm online almost every day, usually between 5:00 and about 1:00 EST. I'm not usually doing much of anything. Since I was absent for about a year or so, my old LS and FC are defunct, and I'm looking to replace both. I'm also looking for friends and allies in my never-ending quest to get really drunk aboard my own airship. I'm open to friends, rivals, would-be-wives, or really affectionate cheerleaders. Maybe not so much that last part. But seriously, any kind of connection you want, within reason. Sr'vassh has a blank relationship board again, so it's open for new additions. I'd also like to join a non-military themed FC, preferably one at least a little roguish. But I don't really know where to start there, so if anyone has any ideas, let me know. Hope to hear from many of you. Or at least a couple.
  16. I. Basic Info Characters:Sr'vassh Nunh, Matern Arkwright Primary character:Sr'vassh Nunh Linkshells:none yet Primary RP linkshell:none yet II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium, most days. Light on some, heavy if I'm really bored. Views on RP combat and injuries: I'm the "roll at start, high wins" school of thought, and act it out from there. In PvE, it's pretty much just whatever goes. If I'm injured in an RP combat, I usually act them out at the time and forget about them by the next session. I flatly refuse any RP outcome that would maim disfigure or kill though. That's just not cool bro. Views on IC romance: Love it. Embrace it. My favorite thing. A goal I pursue often, actually, but only with consent and at least a brief discussion with other players. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): All about it. If someone wants to be my long lost cousin or brother I'll work it in, no problem. It's a good base for RP, and a great aspect to any friendship or rivalry. Views on lore: It's important as a guideline, but you should be free to bend it to make exceptions when it's interesting or cool. All the same, if something flies in the face of the world, not cool bro. We need the Lore because it gives us all a foundation to interact with. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I've RPed in Linkshells before, since it's a phenomena explained in universe. If I'm also RPing with someone in person I usually emote the action of activating a linkpearl and repeat whatever I said over the linkshell so they can hear my one-sided conversation. Like cell phones in public. I emote occasionally but still say most of my dialogue in the "say" function. Never RP in shout. III. Other Info Country:U.S.A. Timezone: -0500; Eastern Standard Time. Contact info:Here is good. Also, my personal Tumblr or email me at [email protected] [align=center][glow=blue]~Special announcements can be found in the posts below~[/glow][/align]
  17. Hey, I just brought back one of my old favorites, Sr'vassh. A Miqo'te pirate from the wiped-out shark clan, he was smuggling Doman refugees and goods out from under imperial noses before he lost his ship (again). He's been hiding out in Ul'dah lately, so if you see him around, feel free to say hi. Just don't say "Yellowjacket", and you'll get along fine.
  18. I want samurai as a dps class. I also want them to dual-wield paired swords, with a katana and wakizashi (long and short), but unlike MNK or NIN, I want them to be two separate items. The shield slot is underutilized. As for RDM, I'm actually in favor of a different weapon - rather than a rapier, something like a whip. And a new race would be awesome - Viera look-alike or otherwise - but I'd rather they were shorter, rather than tall. We have so many tall races already. And if I got to pick, I'd want to see something more like the Ronso anyway. But mostly, I want new areas. Ishgard is cool, and all, but I want to see Garlemald already.
  19. I took a long, unannounced break. But I came back because you can't keep a gift horse down. Or something. Basically, just letting you know I am returned.
  20. I barely know where to start, having never edited a wiki before. But if it's anything like the BBCode on forums I'll be okay. ...is it? Anything like BBCode?
  21. Marten doesn't have a breaking point. He is perfectly calm and rational. Or so he would have you believe... Basically the only thing that would make Marten snap is all of his plans falling apart at once. He isn't the kind of person who handles failure well.
  22. It's not canon lore, but it is a useful resource for Xaela, just because it gives a rough overview of the cultures that inspired them: my thread, Xaela: A Headcanon. Feel free to use or disregard anything there. I use most of it myself, although I have thus far avoided using most of the actual Mongolian terms, like khan.
  23. My item level is only 75. So pretty low, I know. A lot of people have out-geared me, but I have slacked off a lot on my main since I decided to take a break from tanking. It's just not easy to catch up, especially when you're dreading instances.
