My point is that it exists and would be a far less effective weapon than a gunblade on the real world. Availability to characters is a separate issue entirely.
-
The Greatest Story Never Told doesn't give us the text for Essence and Permutations though, at least I don't recall it doing so. It's possible that the text itself is no longer about elements as they pertain to Conjurers only.
-
Let's not forget that Livia Sas Junius employs a pair of gunbaghnakhs, which is a way stupider weapon from a real world perspective.
-
We can't really apply too critical of an eye to the idea of a gunblade because we've already accepted the setting as it is; a place where pre-gunpowder weapons like swords, spears, and bows are still viable and being used to fight off a technologically advanced nation that has easy access to firearms. In the real world firearms beats everything, not so here. So it smacks of cherry picking to call out gunblades as dumb.

I can't say for sure, but due to the 2.0 Conjurer quests only ever teaching you about the wind, water, and earth elements I suspect it has been retconned. The extent of elemental magic that Conjurers are now able to even cross class is Blizzard II (water element? anyway...), we used to have access to Thunder but the devs decided that it was too much DPS for us and took it away. =/ Anytime I had Rakka'li manipulate fire magics I sold it as basic thaumaturgy, and very weak at that.

She linked it in her post and I missed it, that's what I get for skimming.

One thing to add not mentioned so far: Something not often picked up on is that Conjurer's wear off-white, grey, and in rare cases dark brown or green attire - though I don't think I've seen any Gridanian Conjurer's wearing the latter two - whereas Padjal (and possibly by extension all White Mages) are the only ones who wear that striking white color. Hearers wear blue or purple, with the two Padjal O-App-Pesi and E-Sumi-Yan being positively decked out in purple. I don't know why these two don't wear white, though I suspect it might be because they lead and teach the Conjurer's in Gridania. I RP'd Rakka'li as a Hearer who often shirked his duties as he could only keep his Keeper wanderer/loner tendencies in check for so long. Though unfortunately I only had cause to have him wear his blue "Hearer" robes in very few scenes (and sometimes I just plain forgot to put them on). Later on he would wear dark browns and greens when wandering alone to blend in with the Twelveswood and to not be bothered by those looking for a Hearer. So in summary, Conjurer: muted earth tones, or off-white. Hearer: Blue, with more purple the more higher ranking/more powerful you are. Padjal - possibly all White Mages: White. EDIT: Nevermind, the mighty Sounssy certainly covered it here: CNJ Attire - What the Robe Colors Mean

Who cares if she does? Could be good RP conflict. You being kind of afraid about it says to me that you might possibly take the relationship OOC. It's roleplay. Not a real relationship. -
How to properly react to RP you don't like (or 'Punting the Puppy')

Considering the Scholar Job quest starts with you finding a job crystal in a crate I think it's far easier to use than White Mage. -
I thought we have a command in this game to give the time left on a cooldown. Let me poke through commands. I'll edit/update if I find it. ...and yeah, it's be object-oriented-ish in my example. I'd say it'd work great client-side, but with latency aka squeenix lag, it'd probably miserably fail. Considering the by design positional update lag is so the PS3 can even run this game, at least I think so, yeah it couldn't handle this properly.
-
At that point we are implementing a scripting language with object oriented capability. Bla bla ps3 limitations phrased as something that doesn't directly vilify the ps3. Also we don't need that many lines. Just tell us exactly how much time is left on the cooldown. if([skill].coolDown > 0){ /e [skill] ready in [skill].coolDown seconds. Oh.. if only. This is why I loved XII so much. It was basically scripting built into the battle system.

How to properly react to RP you don't like (or 'Punting the Puppy')

/re-derail There's no hole in the story, the ending to Crisis Core is months before VII. Cloud was already coming out of his vegetative state by the end of it, that's more than enough time for him to recover and start his crazy identity crisis. Not here to argue the merits of the story, but "being healthy at the end of Crisis Core and in a wheelchair at the start of VII" and the children being remnants is way way off and not examples of SE making retcons. /end-derail -

Way off topic, but what? You're way off on your VII continuity and lore. Cloud wasn't a vegetable until way later in the story, not the beginning, and three new characters from Advent Children are not remnants from original story, they're manifestations of Sephiroth's will in the lifestream. -

Disaster! SE just ruined your headcanon!
allgivenover replied to Warren Castille's topic in RP Discussion
How do we define "slightly"? The degree of modification will vary drastically with each case. Are we condemning certain degrees of lore-bending because they require significant overhauling/retooling to bring them back into line with each new lore dump? Considering no one can agree on what's lore bending and what's lore breaking it's entirely subjective. As long as what's "bending", "breaking", or "slightly" is consistent in your circles, it's fine. -

Bend the lore as far as you can without breaking it. But keep in mind that good lore bending won't ever get decimated by new lore, only slightly modified. -
The females are so much smaller that it should be easy for them to orient themselves in a way that.. yeah. I think we're done here.

They're directly connected to the brain and function as both ears and a way to enhance spatial perception, so I'm thinking sanding them down is out.

As Hyur #100000, how do you distinguish yourself from the others? This is a stupid prejudice that's only applied to Miqo'te (and now Au Ra) Rpers by smug hipster RPers. The fact of the matter is that just as many RPers (or more) are Hyur and don't come to this website, but no one laments that Hyur are so plentiful or comments that they don't really consider them in RP because there's "just so many". It's just a smug hipster way of trying to present yourself as a better RPer for not playing one. So as Au Ra #51412 I'll distinguish myself by being a good writer and someone who is fun and compelling to RP with, I'd do the same thing if I was Au Ra # 100000. I agree with this, but without the unnecessary name-calling. ^^ I don't think it's unnecessary to call a smug hipster idea smug, or hipster, but I'm more addressing his poor way of considering other RPers than him directly. Also, I'm calling the prejudice stupid, not him. There is a difference.
