Ul'dah mostly, have gone to Limsa some though. They'd probably work out well for this. Was thinking it would be a mugging gone horribly wrong. Sounds good. Whisper me in game and I'll talk to Beldrem.
-
Well what city does your character normally work out of? Because my character and his spouse work in Limsa and while Dracyn has no issues laying the beat down on someone, Dracyn's husband, Beldrem, tends to want to redeem criminals.

Highly unlikely. Probably a joke. Unfortunately not. A FC by the name of DragonsKith bought most of the smalls in Beds and Goblet and have been selling them for 50 and 75 mil each. So yes, the Housing Mafia struck again...

To be honest...I found the entire story lackluster...I rather play the last half of 2.0 again. The part from Titan to the Castrum attacks. So intense so...nostalgic. Felt like something out of FF6 (my personal favorite FF). From 2.1 to our current patch it feels like they tried to ride the Game of Thrones train and did a bad job of it.

Mistletoe is also a plant mentioned in game and though not mentioned in game irl it was used during the middle ages to treat a number of ailments from seizures to high blood pressure. Though it was also used by ladies of the night as an abortive. I'm sure the plant is used in the same way in Eorzea as well. Btw I am in no way advocating consuming mistletoe in any shape or form. It IS poisonous and will likely do severe harm to anyone attempting to use it in a medical manner.

For my Ninja I decided to give a nod to the Ninja's two hour ability in FF11. You know...the one where they blow themselves up. Mutually Assured Destruction is a GO!

Roleplayer Uncertainty/Insecurity Theater
Dracyn replied to Warren Castille's topic in Character Workshop
Some how I always manage to find the rp partner who never logs in reliably or only logs in if I beg them to or if there's some event. Which has essentially led to not one but 5 separate plotlines across two games being abandoned/retconned because the person I depended on being there just stopped logging in. No word no warning, just one day they never logged in again. Which causes me to become depressed and generally abandon the game and character. I am honestly concerned that there might be something wrong with me, that I drive people away from rping and gaming in general. -
You, your friends, your chocobo, and even pet arhiman are invited to this shindig. So feel free to spread the word so we can play sardines in a can in this nice person's mansion!

There will be SOOOO much face palming in that quest line. But it's worth it for the old school FF references.

Lore Question about Education and Childhood in Eorzea
Dracyn replied to Lilia Lia's topic in RP Discussion
Funny enough me being annoyed at how wrong the first paragraph is goes into why the second paragraph doesn't really mean anything for the education of the world as a whole. The major religions of the world did not 'keep the world ignorant', in fact within their ranks, be it the Catholic church, the Islamic empire, or the assorted Asian cultures that all had different degrees of spirituality, all were the vanguards of scientific progress. Understandably I can agree with you on the transportation of knowledge and lack of free time. But there's plenty of instances in European history where scientific advances were deemed heretical and those scientists were often forced (many times on promise of torture and death) to recant their theories and give up on their research. I am not condemning religion I am simply looking at historical examples. And if you compare Medieval-1700 Europe to Eorzea there seems to be far less persecution of knowledge seekers. And personally I feel that if the Umbral Eras can be stopped we'd see the Eorzean society advance faster than we saw our own. Especially since they have a genius like Cid leading the way. -
Lore Question about Education and Childhood in Eorzea
Dracyn replied to Lilia Lia's topic in RP Discussion
I think part of the inconsistencies also lie in the religious aspect of the culture. We're trying to compare this world to our own where a major religion held sway both politically and scientifically for over a thousand years. They quite literally kept the population of the known world ignorant. I won't get into if it was deliberate or some odd side effect, but it did happen. This world however has a religion that supports education. In fact there's several deities dedicated to knowledge, experimentation, and exploration. This religion also holds little political sway in most places. So we're really dealing with a world that is only held back by the cycles of destruction that plague it. -
Your character is rescued by a Black Mage, how does s/he respond?
Dracyn replied to Zelmanov's topic in RP Discussion
"Thanks for the help but bit of advice for the future, might want to work a bit on your subtlety. There's more than a few who don't like Black Mages and a good bit of those who would be more than willing to give you a free trip to the void for it." *tips the hat he never has on* "Messing with void magic is nasty business, or so I hear, no matter how many good intentions you start with, so keep yourself safe, eh?" *walks off like he was never really in danger in the first place* -
If you're still doing this, I'd love one of Dracyn. Please use any style you're most comfortable with. Here's a reference picture for you. His eyes are sapphire blue...I don't know why it's so hard to see eye color for midlander males.

Depends on how drunk you can get Dracyn really. Get him drunk enough and you'll have him singing out of tune sea shanties at the top of his lungs. Otherwise depending on recent events he'll either be amused at his surroundings and generally good company or demanding to be left alone.
-
"Dracyn, you're a drunkard." To which he replies: "I'm not a drunkard...I just like to drink. There's a difference." Dracyn is a functional alcoholic...something that many of his loved ones seem to want to overlook. Much to his annoyance.

Dracyn already has the look so he may as well have the voice to go with it. qF0uaI4GxDU

Dracyn had classical sword training in his youth. After that he spent 10 years at sea learning how to REALLY fight.

I Want to Be Your Canary (EU-Friendly) (Date and Time Pending)
Dracyn replied to SM Nick's topic in Chronicled Events
Will this be open to the public? Because Dracyn would like to acquire three tickets. And there may be other happy couples who want to take a date to a play. -
I actually went old school for Dracyn and many people actually call me out on it. Westley from The Princess Bride

I'm an older gamer so Chrono Trigger and Earthbound rank in the top slots for favorite rpg. But I also like Okage: Shadow King. It was a very Tim burtonesqe style to it. The only mechanic I didn't like was that if Ari died in battle it was an instant game over. But the humor was awesome with several different romance lines (ala ff7) and you weren't the silent protagonist. You had responses to choose from and generally 2 of the three were guaranteed to piss someone off and the third normally pissed everyone off.

Flirting techniques - inspiration and referencing
Dracyn replied to C'kayah Polaali's topic in RP Discussion
When Dracyn flirts it's completely over the top in the style of Wesley from the Princess Bride or Errol Flynn. Lesbian, taken, or single, every woman gets his undivided and over the top flirting antics. Of course since his heart has been completely shattered he is incapable of love so that's all they are, pretty words. Most women seem to sense this and laugh him off. Most female miqote seem to abuse him unmercifully for various reasons. Of course this hardly stops him, it's all part of his mask. He hopes if he keeps it up long enough that one day the mask will become real. -
Ul'dah seems to me to show what happens when capitalism runs without restraint. Again I will point out the quests as proof. There is one quest where you help out an up and coming rich man, new money as it were, he's been hiring refugees left and right (and not out of any sense of profit but to give them a chance of a better life) and has found a mining vein that would make him rich enough to give him a seat on the Syndicate. He has been assaulted once before and has enlisted the aid of the brass blades and you to protect him while he checked out this vein once more. Only to learn that his competition (who does not approve of a kind, generous new money horning in on the action) paid off the brass blades to murder him. You fight them off and save the day. Then the woman in the street of Ul'dah in the main scenario quests. Accused of stealing something she lawfully bought because the merchant lusted after her body. The bystanders feared the man and what protection his money could buy and were willing to see this woman turned into this man's sex slave rather than intervene. Money is everything in Ul'dah and those who control the wealth, control the power. And you know what they say about power? Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. What we have a case of is the 1% with 99% of the wealth and no obligation to be generous or even ethical and the legitimate government (sultanate) has no power to enact ANY sort of control over them because they have their hands in the pockets of the entire military force except the Sultansworn while they would fight to the last man, would be horrifically out numbered. While Limsa may have pirates, they also have the Rogues to keep the pirates from going after Limsa citizens so they at least have a real chance to move up in life, unharrassed by those already wealthy.

I'm still working on an rp set but here's Morwen Dulinath. I'll try to get a picture of her brother next time my friend logs in.

The Animounted rpers I think will be heading to behemoth if that changes anything.
