That would be unfunny I don't think SE is that tasteless. *casually sits a sock aside in case Yoshi makes her have to eat it* I still want like...the ronin style. I'd love the SAM questline to like...go back in the past and show the struggle of Doma vs the Garleans I think it'd be a super interesting and refreshing take on the whole thing. Maybe memories via the soul crystal? #wishfulthinking -

I hate Trion. Anything they touch turns to shit. Same thing with NCSoft pretty much. FunFact from an employee: Trion had to fire their pvp balancer because he was weighing it in favor of his favorite class. -
The lore book did no such thing. "Speak the common tongue of the [Eorzean] Hyur" and "have their own local ancestral language" are not mutually exclusive concepts. "Its culture developed for thousands of years with no influence from the West" and "they spoke the same language all along" are. General plea: Please stop spreading this quote out of context. It's disingenuous. This is pretty rude. It's pretty hard to spread the quote out of context when...that IS the context. I think you're arguing semantics. I think you're splitting hairs. I think the Domans quite certainly have their own unique dialect and at one point in the distant past perhaps a language but it's not anything in use today as per the book. That sentence quite literally means "The Eorzeans and the Domans speak the same language." Additionally, just about everyone I've met that has read that passage took it to mean this. That being said, please feel free to RP what you wish as per your enjoyment and your discretion.

Xaelans are the only ones afaik. A lot of people headcanoned Doma as well but the Lorebook took that out behind the shed. I'm super touch and go with RPing language barriers on my Doman but I'm honestly just not a big fan of language barrier RP. I've seen it cause a lot of OOC drama so I just avoid it most of the time tbh.

I just want my Shadowrun MMO. -
The Elementals of the Twelveswood don't necessarily represent how Elementals feel everywhere. This is another foggy area or if it's been expanded upon I'm unaware. There's things classifieds as "elementals" in the bestiary but I think these are different from The Elementals that are wrapped up with the Stillglade Fane and all that. Kinda like Succor and Succor. Yay words. That's a bit of worldbuilding that I don't think has been touched on either or if it has it's on a quest npc somewhere I don't remember. Also as far as the gents in Quarrymill, they can't even have conjury used on them let alone practice it. I think it'd have to do with the lineage of your particular Highlander and if their ancestry had anything at all to do with the Autumn War since apparently the elementals can sniff that out because....reasons. So, for example, having a character that is former Ala Mhigan nobility and a conjurer would be a tad wonky in my estimation. This is just my summation and opinion though.

I don't think this exists or if it does it's not yet been eluded to or expanded upon. I dwelled on it a moment and thought perhaps they had conjurers but...again, here not likely considering the elementals disposition regarding Ala Mhigans. They certainly wouldn't have had access to Sharlayan Astromancy. I perused the lorebook and indeed the Ala Mhigans are a very martial, very physical battle hardened people. There's little access to fertile soil and that which exists was fought over brutally. Food and territory in Gyr Abania went to the man/group that wielded the biggest club. If you wanted to go this route I would suggest a medicinal healer, mayhaps an alchemist of sorts but with a more natural ingredient 'mortar and pestle' hook and flair. There was a snippet about Ala Mhigans crushing the horns of beasts and mixing it into tea for healing properties but no comment about how effective it was. /salute

Given the explicit callbacks to the end of 1.x that happen in that cutscene, yes. I may just be heartless I suppose. Or it's a cutscene that appeals to a minority of the playerbase who were there for 1.0. Admittedly, I was not. -

The power of Tupsimati is that it gathers aether around it at an unprecedented rate to cast spells normally uncastable. But this sealing spell requires the wielder to have Tupsimati to cast it and also kills the user because.....reasons. ....Then what is the frigging point of Tupsimati? Also, at best, this primal is gonna be like baby Bahamut in a 70s Schwarzenegger body with no eyebrows. Louisoix failed at sealing Bahamut (who was sealed in Dalamud) and it appears that Papalymo succeeded so right off the bat it's safe to say this primal is not as powerful. I think what irritates me the most about this writing is Square is trying so hard to make me FEEL things while assuming I'm stupid and will just ignore plot sinkholes. Also I really can't feel ANYTHING for Papalymo honestly. He's been MIA for an xpac. Were they expecting tears? -

Add in some cringy shit about Yda spawning braincells to become super Ala Mhigan princess magical girl to avenge Papa-senpai. How this chick is an Archon is just utterly BEYOND me. -

I just don't see how they're going to resolve this in a satisfactory way. You guys summon a primal and kill a Scion, impersonate Grand Comapnies to start a war but NO WORRIES GUYS WELCOME TO THE ALLIANCE. I'm already cringing at Stormblood tbh they wrote themselves into a hole and SE really doesn't have a track record of resolving conflict on a satisfactory level. I expect everyone to just have meeting in "Contrived Land" where they all get the hell over it and make the Eorzean Alliance great again. :dodgy: ..... Yeah, so I don't like the MSQ lol. -

The title is super hamfisted. Also semi reserving this for rant but yeah that title may as well been "Let me run around and spoil the MSQ for the server!" Though TBH if you didn't see Papa "dying" (and there are some serious airquotes around the word dying) coming then....welp. -
If dragons could do this then the Hrasvelgar/Shiva thing would have been a non issue.

The pieces you've written for me are gorgeous.

I want SAM to aesthetically be more like the lightly armored ronin thing. But this just might be my inner weeb talking. -

.... ........ Did someone say Shadowrun. *foams at mouth* -
If it does end up being Sharlayan in origin, I wonder if the quest line will have a similar situation as the AST one - considering Sharlayan's oh-so-friendly approach to any of their potential combat-usable knowledge being spread around. I think 5.0 is gonna be on the other side of the map. I dunno why. Just....feeling.

My question the becomes: How is citizenship obtained? (I dont think an answer to this is available yet.) The way things got set up after the abandonment of the colony it seems like these days if you step into the Old World you don't step out. It also wouldn't shock me if you had to have a generation other two of citizenship before they'd allow certain tutorings (Arts of War) unless you displayed remarkable aptitude but that's just pure headcanon.

This makes 100% sense to me and I don't doubt it but is there a source for this besides conjecture from all we know?

A New Years Celebration not on New Years (irl complications) sounds like fun. -
Maybe people will stop ICly raiding Castrums like they are 7-11's now.

Gonna try to stay as non spoiler and speculative, I believe they are trying to summon a primal but for the purpose of testing and or attracting a greater power. What's this ordeal that everyone is talking about where their character's might not survive? Is it the same thing? Best I can gather is folk have characters that are enlisted in grand companies ICly and whatnot or are Ala Mhigan freedom fighters etc. Then you have shots like this in the trailer. Let the bodies hit the floor. Oh sweet summer child It's the Ala Mhigans (AGAIN. Except this time they may or may not succeed at Primal/God summoning? No idea) Don't even want you guys back in the Alliance at this point, lol.

Some rpers like the more plot heavy stuff than others. This is just what I've come to accept. There are things I have just stopped trying to include certain people on. It's waste of time and effort. They, as players, want slice of life RP despite their character's IC tradeskills falling into these specific plot roles. You need to realize that YOU, as a DM (Dungeon Master) cannot FORCE people to work with you or work into these roles. You will kill yourself. I have HANDED people RP on silver platters and they just....stare at it before dropping it. Once I've isolated that a player is that kind of RPer I move along. I will not break my ass to loop everyone in if they're going to make me enter the damn Konami code every time just to get their participation. You wanna be there? Show up. If not then I'll write the plot and event to cater to a more closed group.

New race in Stormblood? - Speculation and Discussion
Teadrinker replied to Altitis Acquired's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I'm like 99% sure they aren't connected. SE is just reusing names. Like if we went to Illisabard and the Garleans had a city named 'Midgar' I wouldn't expect to canonically find Cloud running around if that makes sense.
