This makes sense to me as well. It's perhaps why the lorebook didn't define any particular one way to worship a deity.

I'll always remember Heavensward for having so much narrative potential that it's writers were just too afraid to use. :cry: Despite that I'm gonna miss the hell out of Ishgard.

The important note is the definitive "NO" on giving Balmung the RP server label. It's too big, too old and too diverse. That's not how I took this. I'll rewind it when the VOD is out but what was said was 1.) Dev team is 50/50 about adding RP labels to certain servers. 2.) Adding this labels is easy peasy and not an issue. 3.) They're holding back because of fear of RPers creating a toxic environment by asking non RPers to leave the servers because it's an RP server. At no point was it mentioned "We won't do this for Balmung."

Name your character whatever you want. Just explain it in the backstory. Unless you have a distractingly OOC name like 'Play-Doh' or something it really shouldn't matter.

Everyone has their own facet of RP that works for them. That includes the narrative equivalents of the folk at bars prowling for a good time. Some characters are floosies. It happens and it's ok. In the end everyone is doing their own thing and none if it is wrong. The best thing you can do is find a likeminded group of folk and RP with them. FFXIV's RP community is huge they ARE out there I promise. If you'd like we could even meet up for some RP later in the week if you'd like. I can recommend some communities as well. Everyone has what they like and what they prefer to do and coexisting is much more enjoyable.

When choosing race I always consider where my character is going to be from nationally and what tends to be the most populas race there lorewise before making a choice. So if I wanted an Ishgardian character I'd pick Elezen or Midlander. If I wanted a character to be a Doman refugee this might be my chance to make a Raen. And so on.

Nyx deserved so much better and while I'm watching this I'm thinking: "Noctis is off somewhere right now picking peas off the ground or staring at Cindy's ass while this guy is getting fucked." And God, the way they utterly disenfranchised and gutted Luna of any strength whatsoever made me wanna yak. It's like people don't freaking understand that you can write a female with those qualities and not have her be completely bereft of any ability to fight on any standing or in any form whatsoever. For shits sake, let her throw potions around or something at least if you're going to bankrupt the character of any strength, abilities or powers. I gave a character amnesia in response to massive injuries she withstood. You might remember that Maril. Honestly, as far as MMO RP goes, it's another one of those 'how it's presented in context by the writer' scenarios. Folk who meet her these days have no idea what happened before unless they get to know her well enough for it to come up. One character made a joke about her having been hit in the head once and it upset her and folk around her that knew because...yes. Yes, she did get hit in the head rather badly lol. People get turned off when they can tell the person behind the keyboard is really forcing a character detail regardless of what the detail is. Don't do that and play the idea as it comes up and as it makes sense and you'll generally just run into fewer problems I think.

Well in SE defence, we really don't know what Ala Mhigan 'aesthetic' is. We've seen the Fist of Rhalgr, who are wierdo religious cult esque group, and a heap of poor hobos, refugees and mercenaries. That said, I don't think it is that far-fetched beyond the 'flamboyant' aesthetic (once more for all we know it might be legit Ala Mhigan aesthetic >_>. Perhaps the RDM class was the 'upper' class type of job? Nobles ect? Ala Mhigans were after all super advanced compared to any other Eorzean city. So writing it off on "well they had to focus on survival" doesn't make exactly sense. They were a wartorn area, and if real life logic applies a little bit to it, nations who actively war then to progress quickly on warfare, so I don't see why it would be far-fetched to have RMD to have its origins there. I think we were all just thrown off by the fact it looks super flamboyant. Honestly, aesthetic wise I could have said Ishgardian, but alas. Yeah, applying real life logic to the vedeo games never ends well. x.e I was taking in the direction of having the hierarchy of needs met like you need X met before you can focus on Y. X being food, shelter, etc and Y being developing anything cerebral. Just from everything I saw in the game and read in the lorebook just led me to believe that the people in this area were hardass, tough as nails, martial af, 'punch you in the mouth and steal the food out of it' people until the unification and even even they didn't have a ton of resources. I think there's about 300-400 years in there though before the Fist came along where they were high off trade route coin where they might fit? Note: Not a super fan nor super good at lore for this region. Just glossing over it and pointing out what makes sense to my mind.

The lore of how they traveled to the Gyr Abania area seems to be the same but if they = Ala Mhigo then...I guess RIP any Monk lore people thought they would get in favor of the shiny new toy? >_>; My guess would be they are their own subset of people but honestly the fact they are even from this area is honestly a little bonkers to me. Magic and science is something you focus on when not every hour of your day is going to basic survival which is what this area has just touted since it's inception. Bleh. I'm sure they'll find a way to inject it though... Inject being the operative word.

The thought of a not snowy Ishgard makes me cry, honestly. I love the current aesthetic of the area.
