  1. ^ I think just like in real life how there is a lot of flirting and stuff going around in places that revolve around alcohol, you are going to find the same here, but its not all flirty. Denn for one likes to start bar fights because she is awesome like that . There is some open world RP as well, not as much as tavern, but that is probably because the taverns are an easy location for people to all gather together at instead of being spread out in various parts of the world. I do catch people walking around quite often though and sometimes just stalk them for fun which probably weirds them out :cactuar:
  2. I don't have any characters who would pay for companionship, but I do have a bruiser of a Roe who has some friends for hire who wouldn't mind doing some... No questions asked work to build up a fee allies.
  3. The woman continued to buzz around him, just as annoying and persistent as the flies in the desert. "Attention?!" Her tiny voice grew louder as she grinned sarcastically at him." I don't understand what you mean? I haven't even begun to draw a scene!" Her grin only got wider as her performance drew more eyes upon them. Her tone went back to normal as she continued on. "You come to know many things when you have lived as long as I have. Like how to act with class or find interesting strangers to harass. And you by far, are very interesting." She reached out her white gloved hand in a friendly greeting to him. "Ozmama Ozma, the words greatest tactician and mage. If you looked up "excellence" in a dictionary there would be a picture of me on that page. What is your name my no longer hidden or subtle friend? And don't give me any of those fake identities or names of pretend."
  4. Yeah Hamster, you can no longer acquire Wood-Sin from what it looks like. I'm kind of upset that they took this out because I think that is what made The Shroud so darn awesome. They say its because the elementals are weakened after the fall of the moon. So at least they have a good excuse for writing it out ^^. I think I am just going to have to disagree with you on the Wood Wailer thing. I know what the lore states, but I'm also not one to follow lore to the tee and don't mind it with a slight 10 degree bend just to accommodate people. Its all about that wiggle room! I really do hope this succeeds as I would love to see more conflict between characters in the world ^^
  5. Bahahahaha Jaja! I saw that the other day and I could not stop laughing at it either. I have one for you <3
  6. There were a few things that were constants in this world, but what you could always rely on was conflict and ambition, and it just so happened that both of these were packed into a nice and neat little package. Her small feet clicked against the stone covered ground of Ul'dah's paved streets. Ozma's walk was slightly off today, perhaps it was her old bones, or maybe it was because she was still recovering from her run in with that Immortal Flame soldier. Ozma: "Wait a minute? Old bones? Just what are you trying to say?! I'm not old!" *Ozma casts fire on the narrator, chasing them off.* "Now then, let me tell you how it really is. Ozma walked proudly walked down the street of Ul'dah. Her youthful and intelligent appearance had attracted her quite a following and her adoring worshipers bowed at her arrival, throwing roses at her feet as they all vied for her attention. Even just a glance from her would be enough, it was as much as they could hope for." As she passed by the Gate of Nald she had noticed the hooded figure coming in. If there were two things she learned in her life its: one, people in hoods have something to hide, and two, you attract less attention when you try to blend instead of sticking out like a sore thumb, and this man...he stuck out like as if someone banged that thumb with a hammer while trying to build Ozma a statue to match her greatness. The small woman casually approached him as her mind analyzed his every movement as if trying to gauge him with that judgemental stare of hers. As she got right next to him she began walking circles around him as she tapped her chin, studying him like a scientist would study one of their lab rats. "You know, you are absolutely horrid at this. The hood, the limp, everyone from here to Gridania could tell you that something about you is amiss. No, no, no, this simply cannot be allowed. You'll at least have to lose that robe if you want to blend into the crowd."
  7. You should meet Gus if you haven't... Lol I had a little run in with him at Limsa where he tried to sell me pumpkins and I gave him a hard time :3. I think he ended up giving her some kind of pumpkin ale though. Denn was in her super secret spy mode and Gus comes strolling up in his pumpkin head, hahahaha.
  8. I know exactly how you feel Ruru. I have a character (was suppose to be my main alt) that I started up months ago, but I never could really nail down his character right. Like his back story was really fun to write out as I tied it all together to give him an excuse as to why he does what he does, but for some reason when it came to RP him; I just felt like I couldnt get into character. I think you met him actually. It was Dais . I keep him around because I want to some day be able to RP with him without feeling like I have to force out a personality with him. Honestly, I think the trick is to just RP...there is a lot about characters that come out as you RP with them and they get into more situations. And then playing them feels more natural and fun ^^ Personally I like Ruru. A lot of people play their Lalafells like children, but Ruru is normal. He is a grown man and he acts like one .
  9. I was with a group who did something similar to this but with cards. My character secretly tried to kill the others because they thought something special would happen if they collected them all. There can be only one!!! I would love to get behind this if my plate wasent so full...unless I tie a current character to this....
  10. My character has been in a number of relationships (which I am still surprised that people actually like her) with people who I know are the same gender as I am. Lots of dolphins out there :3. Also Armi, one day X will have his day lol
  11. In all honesty Naunet, this game is not designed for alts in mind. I mean they literally let you become every single class on one character unlike any other game I have come across before. It defeats the purpose for ever making an alt unless you are an RPer. I personally think 850k sounds good, but I remember reading something where he Yoshi-P feels like even this might be too high (probably thinking of that FC housing fiasco). Also its not a house, but just a room that will probably be about the same size as the original small FC house (before they added a basement) because that is about how large the Mog House was in FFXI.
  12. You know...I always thought of this question myself. I think it comes down to preference. I personally prefer to just play more normal people. None of my characters are jobs IC and only classes. I think the lore around the jobs makes a lot of them too difficult to put into a good story that obeys the lore. But then again my view has always been that it takes years and years of training in order to really achieve something like advanced classes. I have always twitch a little bit when I see teenagers and people in their early 20's running around with this advanced form of magic or battle abilities. Denn has literally been trained since she could walk in the art of warfare and combat and yet I keep her a pugilist IC and yet she still kicks ass . I don't think you need to play the advanced jobs in order to have your character be a skill combatant. Conjurers can heal, Arcanist can summon, Thm (Im not going to try to spell this ) can blow things up, MRDs can go all crazy.
  13. I thought I remembered that name, but you changed your profile picture and it confused me .
  14. *Puts on a nice outfit to go meet Kage for a date. Gets distracted by a butterfly. Never shows up.*
  15. I think if you are concerned with their gender you might be crossing the line between IC and OOC. I notice that some people on both the man and woman side of things will feel odd and uncomfortable when doing romantic RP or something of the sorts with someone they know on the other end is of the sex they are normally not attracted to in their normal lives. I don't think the issue is that wide spread, but I do see it as an issue. Just be mindful of your actions and pull yourself back if you find yourself stepping over that line. Remember, this is interactions between your character and this other character, not between you and whomever is on the side of the screen. Denn is big jerk IC (she recently purposely knocked a cup of water onto a Lalafell who couldnt reach it on the counter), but really I'm as sweet as a cupcake...filled with wasps..:bomb: I enjoy tavern RP in controlled doses. You can meet new people, get involved in new plots, and really build up social connections. If you are always running around and punching stuff in the face your character becomes a bit bland. A great thing my FC leader once said is "if you want people to care about your character, you have to go out there and let others get to know them". If you end up going missing or suffer a tragic accident only your characters friends will really be majorly concerned with this. Its just like life, we don't shed tears for the thousands of people that we hear about in the news, but when it happens to someone we personally know it can break us down. So go on with your bad self and RP for a bizzilion hours! That is the goal I am giving you *starts stop watch*
  16. Yes, the Wood Wailers are restricted to just the Shroud, as the Yellow Jackets are to La Noscea and the Brass Blades to Thanalan. I really dont see the problem here. Denn's group is based out of Thanalan and so she ends up running into the Sworn sometimes (and soon hopefully some members from the Flames) and it works out perfectly. Now I'm no lore expert of Gridania as I rarely travel there IC or OOC, but I don't think the wailers are mainly concerned with just Gridania, but the entire surrounding area. Don't they fight off poachers alongside God's Quiver? And I remember a quest where Wood Wailers ask for your help in curing some people who were caught in a stampede. There are Wailers at every outpost in the Shroud. They are basically the main force of law enforcement in the region. As far as them only having a lance, I think its possible to simply bend lore here to open up the ranks to more people. It can be a special beta division that Gridania is trying out or something. Perhaps after 2.0 ended they realized they should really buff up their defenses to be better prepared for the future and so they want to try to include a few new things. I think the only group where it is hard to find wiggle room is the Sultansworn being paladins.
  17. DENN I MISS YOU WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN WHY HAVEN'T WE DONE THINGS WHY DO WE NOT TALK WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING WHERE HAS DENN BEEN WHERE HAS CICERO GONE WHY OH GOD WHAT PLEASE HELP I DON'T KNOW I MISS YOUR RP I MISS YOUR FUN LET'S DO STUFF SOMETIME PLZ Also I still have a Garlean that needs Garlemald love. ! Val! Im sorry I vanished for a few months. I dug an RP hole on all my characters and I sort of just walked away from it all >.> . Dais "died" in battle, Cicero was "killed", and Denn's life completely collapsed around her and she became alienated after her work with the Garleans got out so I had her retire to the mountains. But they are all back now :3. Round 2!!
  18. Oooh, Im curious about as to how a tribal woman came from nothing to so much in a short amount of time. Don't let Denn find her, she'll think she is a less than savory type and try to be her friend :3! Its interesting seeing someone else play a sophisticated Miqo'te. I have one as well, but its because he was not born in Eorzea so he has no tribal influence at all. He comes from...elsewhere
  19. So I have been coming across this trouble a lot more than post launch. Honestly I think what is going on now is not only the influx of PS4 players, but also now that they took away auto log out feature. I know a good chunk of people who almost never log out of the game (why? I have no idea) which is probably further clogging up character creation.
  20. *coughs and points towards title* I may be kicking up some dust in Thanalan. I actually thought about doing some big stuff, but honestly after playing an antagonist almost exclusively, I have come to learn that there are lots of things that can go wrong when doing large scale events. You have your "I just want to win crowd", your white knights (and boy are there a lot), your metagamers, your DBZ characters, your super special snowflakes with amazing powers, and all the other tropes we have come to know. I play an antagonist because I enjoy conflict filled stories of drama, but I also know that you put yourself at risk of causing your character to become completely alienated. You can't go walking around town and hanging out because someone will point at you and go "hey, isnt that the person who kicked my chocobo in the knee last week?". I actually ended up retiring Denn a few months ago (and quitting the game for 2 months) because she had caused so much trouble that she became unplayable. And maybe that is why I dont see many criminals hanging around. I think you are on the right track of finding a group and planning some RP with them. I'm actually doing the same with the little group that I managed to cook up. I mean its okay if spills out a little bit and ends up grabbing some other people, but in my own opinion, RP conflict on a larger scale (group v group) should be kept a bit more localized to avoid headaches ^^.
  21. Hahaha, I like how everyone is using them as their character portrait in this thread . I see a lack of Roegadyn :3 Do you have any room for the coolest person in all of Eorzea?
  22. Personally I think its better taste to just use another weapon. The thing I really like about this game is that there are some really really nice weapons out there. Honestly I don't think the relics look that great (besides Curtana). The replica is always a safer route to go, but its always easier to just not touch it. You can still have a weapon that is dear and special to you, without saying that its a famous relic weapon. The axe Denn uses is just her fathers old weapon. Its strong and sturdy and it has sentimental value to her and that is what makes it special to her. You can have something that was forged by a friend, a gift from an ex-lover, a family heirloom, honestly whatever you want. Can even give it a name, they do say that all good weapons have a name :3!
  23. You know what? I love this idea. I thought about putting a Brass Blade or Yellow Jacket group together myself, a few months back that is. I always love law enforcement groups as they provide a nice counter-balance. The thing I have seen is that in this universe there aren't that many criminal organizations though. Not as much as I have seen in other games such as Guild Wars 2. Maybe its the crowd? I would give you tips and tricks from things I have seen and what to expect, but I have RP'd with you before and I know you know your way around the block ^^. If I didn't have my hands full right now I think I would really enjoy RPing as a Wood Wailer. Keeping the peace, fighting poachers, and all that jazz. Sounds like some adventures to be had.
  24. As far as I know, there is not. I dont think there are enough of us to keep up with a FC. I mean the LS I made from back near launch only has gathered about 26 people since launch and really only about..6 are active? With like 4-5 of them being alts. Well excluding the people who posted here (as I noticed people tend to create Garleans and then quickly stop playing them).
