Don't RP with Val, he'll push you off a cliff just for dancing with him under the moonlight!

I think you are taking the "brainwash" quote a bit too serious. From my understanding, they are simply fed tons of propaganda (as do all countries do to their soldiers) to make sure that they believe that what they are doing is right. You can get someone to murder innocents and even children if you can get them to believe it is for the greater good. Just look at the stuff we train our soldiers to do in the Middle East. Being a Garlean soldier doesn't mean you have to act like a brainwashed robot waiting for someone to input your commands. Every soldier will have their own personality (as we even seen in the main story line) and have lives that exist outside of the military. There is nothing wrong with playing a quirky soldier or perhaps one that takes things too far. Being an oddball or jokester does not mean that you are not part of a well trained division of soldiers, as long as you know when you are in uniform you have to cut the crap. I do agree that just slapping the term "Garlean" on a character to just do horrible things to seem like a villain is extremely lame though. They have culture, personality, and to them they are doing the right thing by trying to rid the world of beastmen in order to save the planet. Garlamald is an empire, and just like any empire it will constantly invade other countries until it conquers all. Eorzea is probably seen as a place filled with people who worship primals (the beastmen primals and the Twelve seem to share some traits) and ally themselves with beastmen (the slyphs) allowing them to continue to drain the world of aether to summon the power of their false gods whose mere existence threatens everything. I am happy to see that someone else is interested in doing the Garlean thing though . There are so few Garlean characters out there and it will be great to see more full-timers.

You can't spell cannabal without "can!"
LandStander replied to Lio Shirazumi's topic in Welcome Desk
While I think the cannibal thing is interesting and I wonder where it will go. Especially if this character had friends and they found out that they were dining on people. I would like to warn you about using characters from manga or anime in this universe. If you want to base a character off of an anime; I think that is perfectly fine, but when you start doing the whole "this character came from another place" thing...then you are sort of asking for trouble. As a suggestion, I would come up with a more lore friendly back story if I were you ^^; -
How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch?

She doesn't like to be touched, yet she touches all of our hearts. What a selfish jerk . -
How Does Your Character React To Physical Touch?
LandStander replied to Dat Oni's topic in Character Workshop
*Touches all up on Darien* Denn likes to touch peoples faces...with her fist . Seriously though, she will ruffle hair, and punch people in a playful matter and doesn't mind the same in return. The only touching that freaks her out a bit are things involving a caring nature or intimacy. Things like hugging and hand holding are not actions she is used to being involved in, so when they happen they make her slightly uncomfortable and nervous. Ozma doesn't like being touched. She is a serious woman here to do serious business, but apparently being an adorable Lalafell automatically makes people try to scoop her up or treat her like a child. I think the next person that tries to pinch her cheeks will end up getting their hand burned off. -
I think Karaan might be talking about the Carbuncle arena below the arcanist guild which I don't think is an illegal Carbuncle fighting arena but a place for new arcanist to train and learn how to use their new companion.

Damn you Hornet!

Remi was a champion before? Lmao. How in the Seven Hells did that happen? You also spelled my name wrong. Its Dennthota "The Peoples Champion" Ahtahrmwyn

Yep, this is exactly what I heard. They will basically be rooms that are instanced and tied to the Free (or Grand, I can't remember) Company housing from what I recall.

Lol! In all seriousness though, FFXIV has been a huuuuge success for them and they are actually in the green this quarter because of it . I am unsure how this will effect how much money SE gives them though. http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/210080/Great_year_for_Square_Enix_thanks_to_Final_Fantasy_XIV_reboot.php

Hahaha, I have already pissed off this character with two of mine. I think I found someone to drive crazy :3. Btw, the first GW was fun. You stink!

In search of a new home and like-minded contacts!

Welcome back! I'm still doing the thing that we talked about (sort of) if you are still interested in that plot. -
I knew I should have stuck around last night . I was watching the whole thing unfold and wanted to try to sneak some words in with him when you two separated for a moment, but decided to just watch it unfold. I might not be the best person to ask this kind of stuff because I love surprises and I usually go with the flow about 90% of the time. There was a plot that I was involved in with Denn that involved her turning herself into the Flames, but because of a surprise it ended up with her completely alienating herself from society after thinking that the people she trusted betrayed her. There have been quite a few times when stones have been cast in the plot wheels, but it has lead to some really really interesting outcomes (such as Denn becoming a Garlean). So yeah...I would normally just go with it and take on the consequences. Who knows, this could lead to Natalie finding herself in a predicament where she has to choose between her job or being labeled a criminal alongside of him. But for really intricate plots, its nice to have a heads up.

Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster Exhibit!
LandStander replied to Tobias Nightbringer's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
You get bumped up on my list of cool people now. I really enjoyed 12's combat system and I absolutely loved the monster hunting part. It was very XI-esque as you had to kill place holders or wait for certain weather effects and it was very challenging. The risk of death was always there. I was really upset at how easy 13 was and there is no challenge until after you beat the story. I also didn't like 10 that much, but I sort of enjoyed the dress sphere in X-2. I'll be picking this up on the Vita to give it another chance, and hope that my memories of it being too simplistic and awful are just false memories. I'm just glad there is finally a release date. I have been wondering what was going on since they announced this like a year or two ago. I much rather have a Type-0 port, but... -
Her small brown eyes narrow in on Shizu as she reveals the mistake that Ozma made. "Me? Work for you?...." Suddenly she cocked her head back as she placed the back of her hand near mouth and let out a hearty laugh. "O~hohohohohoho! That is the worse thing I have ever heard. For a loser like you to suggest something like that of me is completely absurd." Ozma placed her tea cup down and hopped out of her seat onto the floor. Her pig tails quickly following behind her. She stuck her hand in her coat pocket and began making her way to the front door. "Because your tea was acceptable I will allow you to remain unharmed after your little gibe. I'll simply leave you to your dusty old books, you plebeian scribe."

Ah, I have had this on my watch list for at least a month now. I just dropped $50 for The Repopulations kickstarter this month and then Star Citizen...so many great games in development from indie developers. At least with two weeks left, I am sure I can find $20 to dig up since I will be buying this game anyway.

Canticles of Love (Valentine's Event)

This sounds like fun. Thank you for throwing this! -
Ozmama Ozma took another sip of her tea before placing it back down. "Hmm...I think you are confused about the job. It is you who will be using the bucket, the broom, and the swab. You were looking for a job as a maid, but consider it your lucky day because I prefer to hire you for something more of the magic trade. You seem to have some wit so I will permit you to study an apprenticeship; under me of course." The Lalafell grins at her as if she was offering Shizu a dream job that she could not refuse. She continued on, confident that no one would ever refuse a once in a lifetime offer. "But I only hire the best, so I hope you do mind a few simple test."

Ahahaha, I forgot all about the old FFXIV website! Thank you! I was under the impression that the Brass Blades and the Sultanasworn were more like state police, but my assumptions seemed to be incorrect. Again, thank you for the information ^^.

I'm so glad I stumbled across this because I didnt want to start an entire thread for a simple question. This question is regarding the Grand Companies, mostly with the Flames. So I know that the Companies were reformed back in 1.0, but they did exist at an earlier period in time, right? Hint in the "reformed" word. I just wanted to know if anyone knew when they disbanded and possibly even why. I think the latter question might be harder to answer and I'm really mostly interested in the when. I ask because I had an older character who I wanted to tie to a military organization, but was dishonorably discharged, and the Grand Company's are the only military organization I know about that was in the city-states.
