Let us start a new RP community on Faerie.
Thunderbolt300 replied to Knight Commander's topic in Welcome Desk
Welcome! Just as an FYI, the sure fire way to get on Balmung is the $18 transfer fee. Characters need to be 72 hours old to qualify for transfer, which isn't something they really say anywhere. You are able to move up to 8 characters at once for a single transfer. Either way, good luck! -
Welcome aboard, and good luck on your search!

Welcome aboard to Balmung! You're already checking out the FC section, but you should also check out the Making Connections forum as well as check the Linkshells available too. There's a whole lot of stuff out there for you to get after, and it can feel like drinking from a firehose really easily. You're welcome to hit me up- my signature has a character profile there for ease of reading if it sounds interesting at all! In the case of dungeons? Have lance. Will pewpew!

Forgotten Realms 3.5. All hail Shar, goddess of everlasting loss! Long may we drink from the chalice of eternal oblivion!

Sadly I'm in the CST timezone, but Kasi makes her trips out to Ishgard and the surrounding areas on odd jobs and the like all the time (aka doing dailies and a few other things). She's a bit of a wilderness girl on the edge of civilization, usually a lone wolf on the whole and has a severe weakness for a good steak. Certainly wouldn't mind running into you sometime!

balmung Looking for a few open/light RP LS
Thunderbolt300 replied to Ifrinne Calionne's topic in Chronicled Connections
Welcome to Balmung! Is there anything in particular you're looking for? A particular character you have in mind to be making connections with? I think your mileage will vary both in terms of Free Companies as much as Linkshells. You just have to keep pushing and searching until you strike gold. Don't put all your eggs in one basket- try to keep your options open! -
As has already been hinted... If you're pretty serious about getting after RP full-throttle? There's really no reason not to pay the $18 to transfer to Balmung (including up to 8 characters at once for that one-time cost). You get access to the greater RP community, you don't need to wait for the mythical character creation window that may not actually exist anymore, and you'll never be spammed by a RMT ever again. If you're still on the edge of the fence, then you'll also want to take a look at this too: http://balmungrpcalendar.tumblr.com/ In my opinion, at least, if you want access to as much RP as you can get in FFXIV, then Balmung is really the destination!

Hey there! Don't think there's a single thing wrong with any character just wanting to walk away from the tribal life and embrace a different lifestyle from the start- especially a life that caters more to freedom and the open road to travel wherever you wish. Even a wolf pack has a few "lone wolves" which wander off on their own to join other groups or just hunt alone. I think that the choice between the two really comes down to who you want your character to be- it doesn't really have a whole lot to do with lore or any expected norm that I've ever seen. I say go for it!
-
Welcome aboard, you two! As someone who also joined pretty recently, the best way- I think- to delve into the world's lore is just to follow along with the class / main storylines. There's a boatload of lore there and it'll get you pretty well caught up with the state of affairs in the world at large. Of course, that's not to mention that both of these are completely freakin' awesome too!

Ooh. A former adder, even. Sounds good! I am open to random encounters in the wood. Let's see if our availability matches up and maybe we can get some RP going in-game soon! Here are some hooks that jump to mind: She can stumble across one of his traps, either by triggering it or finding a small animal caught in a snare. Most are for catching food, but he sets up swinging-log traps closer to camp for protection. He won't be too far away. He can just blindly run into her camp with my NPC, Samon'a, toting behind him. The shenanigans. Nothing will go wrong. He smells her cooking a big kill and just has to come visit. Maybe he will bring something to share! ... and whatever you can think of. I can wing it! It will be a brief first encounter. Gehr'ir doesn't like to spend too much time away from his camp. We can see how they mesh and consider setting up RP for next time. This sounds fantastic to me- hell, I'd even propose a combination. She could easily stumble on an animal caught in one of his traps, notice nobody in the immediate vicinity, and steal off with it to cook it up in her own "camp." At that point, there's a few options with him searching for the missing catch and latching on to the smell of her doing some good 'ol cast iron grillin'. You can even throw Samon'a in there. I'm down for just about anything here though- feel free to hit me up in-game and we can just throw it together! I'm usually online after 5PM CST until 11PM during the week- pretty easy to find anytime on the weekend. That being said, I do run dungeons in the evenings too, which may complicate things a bit... but whatever- figure somethin' out! Also, totally appreciate the work you threw into the whole post dude- kudos!

New to the community, old hand at the game.
Thunderbolt300 replied to Ifrinne Calionne's topic in Welcome Desk
Welcome aboard! On the topic of rolling, it's really a crapshoot. It's arguably worth the $18 transfer fee to get onto Balmung without any hassle. The transfer will do bulk as well if you need that. I did this myself about a month ago. Otherwise, the mythical character creation window might as well be a chupacabra at this point... -
Arguably the best thing you can do is find yourself a good cozy RP Free Company! These will be the places you can have recurring encounters, build relationships, participate in events and develop characters in the long-term. Nothing wrong with tavern RP though- but that's more of a spot-solution, I think, for when you need some one-shot excitement, rather than a long haul gig. You can browse the FC listings here on the RPC! Welcome aboard!

This caught my attention! My girl is probably a bit more middle-of-the-road, though. Kasi grew up in a Keeper tribe out in the South Shroud that actively poached, but later ended up joining the Twin Adders for a somewhat more stable income and so she could get proper training. She retired from the military a good 5 years later, as she can only stand rigorous structure for so long before she starts to go a little crazy. She's a bit of a wilderness lone wolf when it comes down to it, and she's a bit of a sirloin / venison / jerky enthusiast to boot. She does a fair bit of wandering and travels with most- if not all- of what she owns.

balmung Returning players looking for RP-FC
Thunderbolt300 replied to Chant's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hey there! Best thing I can suggest is to browse around the FC listings here on the RPC and see what groups you like the most when it comes to concept and tone. I think most folks want to avoid cliques and toxic environments in general, and the community here is 'aged' enough that I don't think you're going to run into that a whole lot anyway! -
Looking for some cool peeps to RP with
Thunderbolt300 replied to Koh'li's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hey dude! Anything in particular you're looking for? Contacts for a particular character? I poked around on the Wiki courtesy of your signature, but I guess all your characters are on different servers apart from Balmung? -
Best advice I can think of is to start looking for contacts- there's a lot of people looking to do that in the Making Connections subforum, and you can make your own post there too if you like! Linkshells are a pretty good way to plug yourself into the social side of the game without getting too committal, beyond simply finding yourself a Free Company outright. Ultimately the forum is kind of an additional tool to help out your in-game experience! Cast your net and see what you can pull up.

balmung Seeking connections for an interesting miqo'te!
Thunderbolt300 replied to Caleria Amih's topic in Chronicled Connections
Color me interested here! I'm a bit of a new player too, still getting my footing with the lore, the world at large and all that jazz. I'll just drop you a PM here in a little bit! -
Welcome aboard!

Working on the final draft for a character blueprint, creating a character forum signature (done... or not. Just noticed I chopped off an ear- damnit... there, fixed), and getting ready for a wireless conference. Wake up early tomorrow to head into the office and do some wireless network "testing" with a certain large download, hopefully... gotta make sure it's all working!
-
Welcome back! Keeper gets my vote. Not that I'm biased or anything. *cough cough* There are a few good Miqo'te groups offhand that I've seen/heard of so far that I'm eyeing too: Shroudwolf - http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=16647 And there's another called the Morbolvine Clan, but their only recruitment post is in the archives. I'm not sure if they're actively recruiting or not, but the post they have says they weren't. I know they're active, though. I'm sure there are a few others out there too!

It wasn't too bad here- starting from level 1 on 9/1 and going to my first 60 as of yesterday, I was able to scrounge up about 2.5 million gil. I didn't do any crafting at all- just questing, dungeons, challenge log, ventures, and selling anything and everything not bolted to the floor on the marketplace. I feel 500K is easily within reach for a new player! Estates? Eh, not so much... I was dreading trying for one of those.

Yeah, can't get world data here. No character at character selection. Bleh.
