At least you can raise a chocobo in an apartment stable! That's one of the things I was most excited to see when they introduced the apartment system. Made chocobo dyeing much less exclusive. Flowerpots were a step in the right direction, but imo they really need to implement something like a four-wide indoor pot to make cross-breeding minimally accessible to apartment and private chamber owners. I think it was to be anticipated when the server was unofficially chosen as the new RP server - obtaining a house is a piece of gameplay that RPers are (on average) going to be more invested in than anyone else, and when you try to put a large number of RPers on one server, the state of the housing wards is going to be one of the first things that changes. Especially with free incoming transfers allowing people to place already-eligible characters on the realm. So, I'm not surprised. I do suspect that the auto-demolition market might move a little quicker than Balmung's does, simply because it's less utterly saturated with potential buyers. But we'll have to see.

Actually... if you read the sticky, it states that this a looking-for-roleplay forum, on the Hydaelyn Roleplayers' Coalition site. I'm not going to tell you that you can't post here, but I will warn you that most people reading the threads here won't be looking for the same thing you're asking for. It'd be like going into a Facebook group for gardening appreciation and posting the exact same message, with zero reference to plants, flowers, or gardening of any sort. You won't get what you're looking for, and you will get a lot of people telling you that you seem confused and asking why you're there.

MRP = Mature RP = anything that might be age-rated in a movie. Violence, drugs, sex, abuse, etc. Any, all, or sometimes just one of the above, depending on the person. ERP = Erotic RP = specifically sexual RP. All ERP is MRP, but not all MRP is ERP.

My wrist hurt a lot today so I kind of rushjobbed this but AS PROMISED: Next one tomorrow (again).

The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales
Kilieit replied to Gegenji's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Only if you can hit stuff with it, and tanks don't know how to position for linear AoEs, let alone one as tight as Doom Spike! In practice, Ring of Thorns always worked out better because of its more generous area. Doom Spike didn't just put pressure on me to position myself relative to my target, it put pressure on the tank to line mobs up properly, and they almost never bothered because linear AoEs like that are rare. Now, even with - as I say - meticulous positioning and no one else to mess things up, I've literally never hit more than one mob with Doom Spike. Ever. Geirskogul is just fine, on the other hand - as long as things are vaguely in line with a tangent between me and my target, I can hit them. But Doom Spike? Forget it. I'm beginning to be skeptical that Doom Spike is an AoE at all, to be honest. -
How is my name not Lore Abiding? I'm tired of being told it isn't.

I think that's more to do with voice directors maybe not getting memos properly. What we can do is look at the official race naming conventions thread, which puts it in very plain terms (emphasis mine): -

Oh oh oh are we ranting about new ability balancing? Fuck Doom Spike. It has the shittiest catchment range of any AoE I've ever used. I've literally never caught more than one mob with it, even after lining them up meticulously. And fuck you too, Sonic Thrust. You're not making it better. RIP Ring of Thorns. :'( -
I do think the fact that we're essentially at normal Balmung queues, when yesterday at this exact same time of day we already had 2-hour queues, is kind of significant. Like, even if it turns out that all we can do is knock 2 hours off the estimated queue time at any given moment, that still takes it down from "all of my play time" to "half my play time". Changes from unplayable to inconvenient. Which is not nothing, at the very least.
-
I'm doing these one at a time apparently because I'm incapable of sitting still for longer than 20 minutes at once. Expect the next one tomorrow Probably. I'm so sorry I'm like this.
-
It's worth noting the queue is moving at a standard pace - 100 people / 1 minute. So a 3k queue will reliably take 30 minutes. As opposed to the overflow queues we were dealing with as standard at peak time, where a 3k queue could take up to 4 hours. It'll probably deteriorate, but...

When part of your rp is heavily explored in lore
Kilieit replied to Thorbought's topic in RP Discussion
What, in case the canon storyline does something similar? Cause that's a risk with anything. You can make literally the least radical concept ever: a regular old farmer, no tragic backstory, with a deliberately boring name pulled directly from the naming convention thread, who toils all day in the fields... ...and next expac there could still be an MSQ NPC with coincidentally the same name as yours, who is a farmer toiling in coincidentally the same fields... that ends up playing a major role in a major NPC's character development. And then you'd be in the same position as OP, where you wouldn't be sure whether to change your character to avoid the stigma of ""copying"" the MSQ (when you came up with your thing first) or to stick to your guns and ignore the haters. The problem OP is talking about has nothing to do with how close or far from the lore someone's concept is. -
Here's a post I made compiling all the lore I could find from the lore book about voidsent. You definitely want to do the Crystal Tower storyline, since (bearing in mind the lore book is written from an in-universe perspective) most of the stuff in the lore book is based upon research conducted during said storyline - it'll probably help to see it first-hand!

SE were already warning us before the launch that they were expecting severe difficulties playing on overpopulated servers, and now there's confirmed to be an ongoing third-party attack on the NA servers as well. So yes, it's going to be very bad for the next week or maybe two. The reason I'm advising you to wait is because it sounds like you fear potentially regretting a transfer, and as of right now, such a move would be irreversible - in other words, a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Roll an alt on a lower-populated server for now if you really can't stand it, but don't make any permanent decisions until things have settled back in to the normal state of affairs.
-
This situation is temporary, and is a result of the expansion launch which happened yesterday. By this time next month at the very latest, it'll probably be back to about normal - a queue of ≤50 people, taking an extra ~1 minute tops to get in. Most RPers are also focussed on the expansion for now, so even if you were getting in promptly there probably wouldn't be much for you to do... but next month, once people have cleared the MSQ, things will begin returning to usual. TL;DR Don't worry; expansion launch circumstances aren't "normal". Wait until later before making any permanent decisions.

Stormblood Early Access - The Revolution Will Not Be Organised
Kilieit replied to Nero's topic in FFXIV Discussion
My levelling partner and I finally got to the first dungeon last night... upon which, before we can even begin to get a group, their internet connection (local side) promptly cuts out. Awful luck, and the queue to get back in is 4k still, so we settle in to watch something while it completes... ...and then about an hour later my internet (also local side) cuts out too. :I We wasted about four hours last night just waiting on login queue. So we stayed up four hours late in recompense. We stopped when we got to the part of the MSQ that starts to upset my phobia. Hopefully taking that slow and making judicious use of the follow target and 2-person mount functions will make it not too bad to complete... -

Y'all. It was in the 4000's a minute ago. But the reason I was so late is because I was getting McDonalds breakfast, so, honestly, who's the real winner here? -
NGL, so relieved to finally have furniture increase for apartments actually confirmed *-* There is gonna be SO MUCH CLUTTER on Aghurlal's surfaces, you guys. So much. And fishing finally gets an off-hand after all these years god.

I am kind of low key expecting not to consistently play Stormblood on Balmung til next month, lol. I have plans to work on my Midgardsomr alts and to play another game I've been neglecting if I can't stay connected during active play for more than 5 minutes
-
...ngl, level 30 is ezpz for me, so rolling an alt is really tempting. I have several character concepts that never made the cut for Balmung, so maybe I'll see about rolling up one of them... The only problem is I already have ten alts, so it might end up falling off the priorities a bit regarding getting to endgame, especially with being on a separate data centre. But it should give me someone to bring to the RP events I have no doubt you guys will be holding, at least...
