Balmung is completely locked. There is presently no way to get onto it, or Gilgamesh. Check out any of these threads for more information, discussion, and mentions of alternative roleplay servers: Getting into Balmung - Not Happening Indefinitely. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=12737 Alternative RP Servers An EU server, for EU roleplayers http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=19399 Alternate RP Server http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=19433 Alternate RP server (Updated 5/18/17) http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=19405 Speculation on Solutions If SE was to designate an RP server, would you move? http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=19452 A crazy idea that might alleviate Balmung population: Make it an official RP Server http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=19637 Discussions of Related Issues and Controversy Some Mateus Observations http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=19623 The Importance of Consolidating RP on Balmung and Having One RP Hub http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=19478 An Essay on the Balmung "Problem" http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=19618

The journal itself does that. For example, the journal entry for Kicking the Hornet's Nest (level 5 GLD quest) reads, among other things: Your attempt to intimidate Pfarmurl the Driven nearly ends in disaster until a man named Aldis intervenes, causing the marauder to flee in terror. Speak with Momodi and inform her that all the Lominsans are gone.

You can review some of the class and job quest cutscenes from the Completed journal / inn, as well. Puush uploads aren't working today so I can't show you but if you look at the buttons at the top, it's the button that looks like crossed swords. The dropdown allows you to choose from the different categories of quests (Disciples of War/Magic/Hand/Land, as well as War/Magic jobs).

I'm working on a sizeable update, but for now the main thing is we have a tumblr! Go forth and follow.

Good ending: Aghurlal adventures 'til he's in his 30's at which point he loses his leg, settles down, and has a kid. He continues to work behind the scenes at the Tavern, dispenses wisdom to younger Rogues, and continues to moonlight as a dark avenger when the situation calls for it. So essentially I could still wheel him out for special events, but he'd spend most of his time at home with his baby. Bad ending: Aghurlal is forced to return to Othard - likely kidnapped by his brother - to deal with some family matters he thought he had already handled. It is the most difficult thing he has ever done, and he loses his leg in the process. If he was to survive, he would be severely disillusioned as a result of the experience, and would be unlikely to return to his current lifestyle - or his current associates - again. Most likely, he would flee to Meracydia or the New World, and spend the rest of his life mourning the brief time he had enjoyed in Eorzea before the place became unsafe for him. True ending: Aghurlal continues to work, but he becomes more and more involved with higher and higher-ranked jobs in the Rogues' Guild until all of his time and energy are taken up by things he cannot speak to other player-characters about. He loses his leg at some point and is forced to retire abruptly, but his waking hours are still spent consulting with younger Rogues instead of as leisure time. ...look, okay. I have this really clear mental image of 40-50+ year old Aghurlal and he is always missing a leg. I don't know why either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Honestly, I'm fully prepared to just play another game on both the 16th and the 20th. As much as I'm excited to see all the new stuff, I'd rather not set myself up for disappointment. >.>;; ...and I'm gonna have to figure something out anyway, because I had to look away from the underwater section of this video. Which doesn't bode well for my ability to quest through the area in question...

Real talk... if they kill off Thancred I'm going to - well, I'm not going to fib and say I'll unsub. But I'll have trouble finishing the MSQ. It took me so long to get through 3.0, even though I knew he would reappear in 3.1... I agree Shtola is a red herring, though. If nothing else because I think it'll have more impact on the WoL to see another comrade almost die when their shield faulters and a weapon goes through their gut, causing blood to seep from their mouth... than if said comrade actually dies (which I feel will just be like "welp, that happened again, everything's horrible, what's new").

Fixing a character that's hard to swallow
Kilieit replied to Tahla'ra Molkot's topic in Character Workshop
I'd actually recommend this as well, simply because killing a character is also quite a high-drama, (borrowing from Maia's excellent write-up) "baby-killer" inducing thing to do. When you're trying to reduce your character's time in the spotlight, terminating their role in a way where characters will look like bad people if they don't mourn (i.e. spend more time thinking about and talking about your character) isn't a good solution. You want to put them on a bus. That way other characters have a reason for not being overly concerned with yours' absence - "oh yes he said he was travelling to Sharlayan to study doowhatsits, of course he's not here" or what have you. -
Which Lantern Ring Would Your Character Get
Kilieit replied to Faith Sauveterre's topic in Fun Prompts
Disclaimer: I'm not familiar with the source material. At all. Aghurlal: I think this is actually the DRK colour tbh. Medic: Dedicated her life to helping people. Caiden: Do you think passion for a career counts? Liuthas: Overcoming his origins as an Ala Mhigan orphan, he's actively striving to become a good free paladin. Cinu-a: Despite the similarities, is more of a WAR-type than a DRK. Shuukami: Been through too much relentless crap for anything else, I think. Y'Trinity: She does her best. Confiance: Well, he's still here, after all. -
Although my post was blunt, I don't think it was harsh - you asked for lore, and I told you honestly what there was(n't) and my opinion on what was likely to come next fortnight. If the question wasn't, "will there be Othardian white mages", and was instead "I really like [insert specific aspect(s) of WHM concept here] but I know WHMs are limited in the lore, what can I do to still include it in my RP", then my post would have been different. OP, I'd encourage you to post in the Character Workshop forum so we all can talk a bit more about how your concept can work. I think everyone here has tried to be helpful and to answer the question you asked. I'm sure we'll all do the same if you decide to come at the situation from a different angle, with a different question.

"I have missed you." (wishing to return to balmung)
Kilieit replied to Yabitto Kyujai's topic in Chronicled Connections
If you're intent on being on Balmung specifically, then you ought to contact customer support regarding your original account. I find it odd that circumstances would render the account completely gone unless you had done something yourself to cause that. Otherwise, as Sriracha said above, there are no ways whatsoever to get into Balmung for the forseeable future. You would do well to research some of the communities on alternative servers, because they do exist. -
Unconfirmed, but really probably not. White magic as a discipline originated in the Twelveswood for a reason, and we've not heard of any similar environments in Othard. Like, if you can wait literally 2 weeks, we'll know for sure - but I really wouldn't get your hopes up.

I transcribed a bunch of stuff from the lore book about Voidsent a while back. Here's the relevant snippet:

Still here, still accepting new people! I'm sincerely hoping to snag an actual Mist plot sometime soon; when that happens, I'll have a far more concrete opportunity to expand what we do and start hosting regular events of my own for you all again.

I've not used it just yet, but I saw a post recommending http://tabletopaudio.com/ on my dash the other night and I've been meaning to try it out. I thought I'd pass the link along.

My advice (is personal opinion, don't take too deathly seriously): Roll a, for now, level 1 alt on a couple of the alternative servers that stick out to you as the most interesting. Spend a couple of hours on each, at your prime playtime, scouting about and seeing what you can find RP-wise. If you want to, you can reach out to linkshells through the RPC, too. The key thing you're looking for: roleplayers that don't all know each other. This is a sign of a community that's on its way to longer-term stability. But if you just find one group, and you have fun with them, then that's certainly something to consider strongly as well. Once you've found "your people", decide whether you want to transfer or level your alt. My personal recommendation is to level the alt - transfer fee is still £, and you'll find questing goes much faster the second time (because you can skip cutscenes and not bother to read the dialogue, plus you already know where all the objectives are). So your time wasn't wasted - it was spent practicing. Don't wait for Balmung. A quick look at the numbers tells us it's going to be a long time before it opens, and you have roleplay to enjoy! Go out there and find it!

MSQ credit for unsynced Castrum/Praetorium?
Kilieit replied to TheLastCandle's topic in FFXIV Discussion
They will receive full credit for a completion undertaken in an undersized party, yes. -
In all honesty, I see RP regularly whenever passing through the Drowning Wench or the Carline Canopy during East Coast prime time hours. (I've been doing a lot of MSQ lately, oops.) I think capitalising on the existing presence and making an effort to yourself be there, to include walk-ups, and make it so people are more likely to say "yeah, I'll come back next time I'm free" to themselves, would be a very worthwhile endeavour. I consider the Drowning Wench my "hangout", but I haven't been there in a while long because I've been too shy. :'I Need to pester my friends and get me a wingman to lurk with.

I always thought bronze lake was more of like a relaxation area. There's hot springs and tables to set drinks on or soak your feet in. Then the lil bar area in that small house I think... It's definitely a medical facility. That's what "sanitorium" means, and why the huge majority of the non-staff NPCs there have something wrong with them - a lingering injury, a mental ailment resultant of combat... ...and why when Godbert shows up without invitation, none of the questgivers seem to know what to do with him, or how to tell him that this isn't a holiday resort.

I'm not really sure where "part of government-sanctioned vigilante organisation" would fit into it? There's lots of stuff he does (including "fisher" and "adventurer"), but that's his career. If there'd been a "part of military forces" option I'd've picked that, but there wasn't.

Is RP just a way for people to hook up these days?
Kilieit replied to Averis's topic in RP Discussion
This is something we shouldn't have to do though, strangely. Indicating that we RP should really be enough. Communicating clearly isn't a bad thing that you "have to" do. Like, the hierarchy is thus... RP, some of which is... > MRP, some of which is... >> ERP If you RP and especially if you MRP, there is a chance (however small) that you might also ERP. If you want people to know that you don't/don't want to be approached about it, then specifying "no ERP" is just a case of being clear about your business. That way, no-one's time is wasted - not yours, nor that of the people who enjoy RP the most when it includes elements of ERP. -
discussion Your thoughts on jump potions?
Kilieit replied to Parth Makeo's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Sorry, tangent. You mean gear like this? Because that coat is totally what I was planning to use for my glamour. Yeah! This stuff, under Chocobo Feather Exchange II: The fact it's already available from the Salvager, plus the fact it's the exact item level required to pass the Heavensward MSQ (230), is what makes me think it'll be the gear included in the Tales of Adventure: [Job]. It could end up being the AF2, but we'll see. -
discussion Your thoughts on jump potions?
Kilieit replied to Parth Makeo's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I think any notion of "earning it", where "it" isn't even anything significant achievement- or gear-wise and is literally just reaching the end of the game, in a video game that we play for fun is kind of... lame. Honestly. Like, do you really value so highly your time spent performing easy yet tedious quests and learning something you can already quickly pick up in the higher floors of PotD, that you'd gate off completion of it from people who have more money than time to spend on a video game? I just think it's kind of a boring, low-investment hill to die on. $50 is way more than I'd ever expect to be paid for completing that content myself - IMO if anything the Tales are overpriced, although I think that's a good decision (keep the financial bar high so new players who would otherwise want to complete the content themselves don't feel like they "have to" buy the Tales in order to keep up). BTW, the level 60 gear they're talking about is almost certainly the Primal-inspired 230 gear, the weapons and chest/legs of which are already available for purchase from the Calamity Salvager with silver chocobo feathers.
