I won't be at Dragon*Con this time around but considering that I'm moving next month, I'll be in position to go possibly next year. I am however making plans to go with some friends to Megacon next time it swings around so....who knows, maybe we can get some RPC hanging out going there.

Welcome to the fun! There are a few Free Companies listed in the Linkshell forum, by the way. As we get closer to launch and everyone getting ingame, I'm sure we'll see more.

While I can't speak to much about the Empire and what's happened/happening/characters from there....I will say (as has been mentioned in a few places), amnesia is kind of a Final Fantasy staple so there's not really anything as wrong with using that as a part of your character's story.

One of the main reasons I believe this is still touchy is because it keeps coming up so frequently. Of course, all of this is from someone who is new to this community and has spent more time lurking than posting. So, take my post with that in mind please. Also, the community is made up of people from both servers IMO. As long as that remains, there shouldn't really be a problem. With that being said, a lot of the Balmung community (like an overwhelmingly surprising number) have been incredibly welcoming and patient (Gospel and Merri can attribute to me sending lots of PMs with questions) with new people. Coming from games like WoW, GW2, and TERA....like I said, surprising is really the only word for it. Anyone who has spent some time in those RP communities can likely attest to people being entrenched and not always overly welcoming to anyone who didn't want to get with the 'established' program and fall in line or just anyone who was new. From my understanding, there was a fairly small number of roleplayers who had to be consolidated onto Balmung from other servers (which had a vote similar to the one which was held recently). They want more people coming to legacy server to play with, which no one can fault them for. Especially considering they have characters with history and stories and interactions behind them as well. Now, on the other side of things are our good friends who want to try and establish something new. And in case anyone attempts to read sarcasm there, it's not present, Rock and I are good friends who chat and joke around together a lot but will be playing on separate servers. /disclaimer No one can blame them for wanting to start fresh and build a brand new community from the ground up, for whatever reason. And while it's not a popular point at all, one that I made in another thread on this topic still stands....sometimes, believe it or not (for those who haven't experienced it in other games/RP communities yet), it can be better if everyone isn't playing in the same sandbox (so to speak), as hard as that might be to imagine. Options can be good, they offer alternatives and different experiences, not to mention it gives the community somewhere to go in the event that a legacy server ends up being full. Afterall, who wants to spend days itching to get started playing and roleplaying waiting for news on if the cap on a server may or may not be lifted. Plus, Gilgamesh was the chosen 'test' server for a lot of RP'ers so there's a feeling of familiarity as well as a way to avoid the potential perception of what people may think the environment on a legacy server may be like (see my point earlier about established/entrenched RP communities). TLDR; There's pros and cons for both sides (I feel silly for repeating it heh), and at the end of the day you have to weigh what you're looking for in an experience. I firmly believe both servers will do great and at the end of the day, once the game launches the issue will settle itself down as everyone'll be too busy having fun. Also, in case this thread does (hopefully it doesn't) break down like the prior ones, I could hunt down one of the longer threads (I think it got up to 20 pages long?) to help you further, if needed. But I imagine you'll see the same points from both sides that have been stated previously.

Welcome to the RPC! I'd say take your time with the lore. There's a decent bit of it and you still have some time yet before launch. Of course, if you're more the type to dive in head first, by all means! As for your boyfriend, definitely drag him along! Just seeing/experiencing RP events can be enough to give someone the prod they need to try and attempt it as well. Besides, the more the merrier!

Welcome! I'd say you'll get the best of both worlds by playing on Balmung & Gilgamesh. The most important thing is finding what you like and having fun with the community.

(Welcome to the boards! Interesting start with your story, do you plan to continue it as well? Given the bits of lore I know, I don't see anything at all wrong with the story, myself. It was a nice opening/look into your character and I look forward to seeing more. )

I'd say you sound experienced not antiquated Or as my dad likes to say "I don't get older, I just get better." LOL. Still, welcome to the forums! Also, Insanity is just that, isn't it? @_@ I plan to give it another run here in the near future, myself.

Welcome, welcome! There are tidbits of lore lying around that might be able to help you with putting together that character, like this tidbit here from Merri -> Bam! Of course, if you have more questions, I'm sure someone around here can answer or offer some insights to help.

Welcome to the fun and craziness that is the RPC! I look forward to seeing what sort of ideas you bring to the table with your linkshell, regardless of server choice. Having linked shells working together sounds like an awesome way to have a variety of RP'ers interacting and intertwining their various stories.

Welcome to the RPC! While it always sucks to have to deal with drama queens (I think most of us have had to at some point), so far people here seem to be friendly and open. While we may not always get along, there's still a feeling of community as we're all excited about the same game.

Welcome to the RPC! There's plenty of Linkshells and more than a few Free Companies here that cover a vast number of character archetypes and histories, so hopefully you'll be able to find one you like no matter which character you use. Though, no one says you only need one!

Welcome to the community! I'd say it sounds like you're no stranger to RP or Final Fantasy, but all the same if there's any way we can help don't hesitate to ask. Trust me, you're far from the only one itching to dive back ingame. But thankfully, it won't be too much longer until we're there for good.

Thanks for the cookies, and of course, huzzah for 'old school' (LOL is BC/WotLK old school now or does that only still apply to Vanilla WoW?) raiders. It's great to see there's a decent number of RP'ers who are into every aspect of the game.

Welcome to the RPC! Looks like you've got quite the history with FF so I'm sure you'll fit right in with all your fellow fans (at least until someone starts a debate on which FF is best, I'd imagine...). For what it's worth, I didn't get into tabletop until some new friends introduced me to it in college, though that's around the same time I started RP'ing online as well. Trust me, you're in good company here!
