  1. Otto spends plenty of time around rough and tumble adventurers. You're free to have him ask them for advice IC, or even put up a flyer requesting lessons inside of the Quicksand or something.
  2. ;----; Will Jana die in a berserker rage or curled up in a corner? Who can say?
  3. This, exactly. Jana may /blush and tell you to cover up if you walk into the bar in a subligar and coliseum top, no matter your character's gender. But OOCly, I don't have a problem with people using that as RP gear or as a glamour to dungeon in.
  4. Jana will be the cheeriest DRK. Though I probably won't actually play such a job IC. I just want my two-handed sword DPS. ;-; But depending on how it's implemented, chances are I will play whatever gun job we get IC though!
  5. It'd be more like ! What could have been, if Jana had become a PLD instead...
  6. I'll be there, even if no one else is! :V
  7. T2 would be easy to help gear anyone that needs it with the EZ Cheez strat. It's T4 I'm more worried about! In any case, to reply to the actual topic's question I play Jana as a powerful adventurer. I worry a little sometimes that she's going to come across as too powerful when compared next to her contacts, many of whom are definitely strong but don't go overboard with it. I play her as a sort of "Jack-of-all-trades" with Disciple of War classes, and her only Job is Summoner. But this means Jana's at home with a melee weapon, a bow, or a summoning tome in her hand. She IS an adventurer, but she isn't the main character... Then I look at what the main characters are all capable of and laugh. Jana's not THAT powerful; I guess it's just a matter of perspective.
  8. Jana's a SMN IC, who knows what she could do with Garuda's essence... Uhuhu.
  9. I might actually make a transformation-macro to use for IC-SMN if I can ever complete my Allagan caster set. ;-;
  10. Jana... no! Franz cooks much better foods than that! Well, this is mostly taking into account Jana's life so far; she used money to get to Ul'dah from the Shroud in the beginning, she used money to study in La Noscea and will, in the near future, use more money to move into the house. But she's largely lived a vagabond's life.
  11. This topic has been here for over 24 hours and nobody called me?! My partner and I are both ok with ERP happening, but if either one of us wasn't, you'd better believe we would find a way to compromise or stop ERPing period. Frnkly, the circumstances of the "cheating" aren't very important. Assuming OP ins't a troll, they're not ok with their partner ERPing and the partner hasn't respected that. It's time to move on.
  12. Jana's actually made several million gil over her adventuring career, some from job payments but almost entirely by selling off loot (Allagan artifacts and Garlean magitek go for a lot, to the right buyer). But money is just a means to an end for her, so the money's often gone within minutes and she lives a fairly destitute lifestyle, preferring to invest in a new weapon or crafting materials instead of in businesses or anything. A lot of her unspent money also goes back to her (NPC) sister in Gridania, which is my explanation for my retainer (whom I modeled as Jana's sister) holding so much money while Jana's living on flatbread and flat ale.
  13. Some things are explained by the game, for example, if there was suddenly a Gatling Gun developed, we already have an alchemist named Gatling in the game to have developed it. But we've yet to see any evidence of a Viking (or Viking-style) civilization in Eorzea to have developed and wielded Viking Swords. If there's actually a Viking in older Final Fantasy games that could come up in XIV, I wouldn't know. But chances are they're just using it as a name in the game. I'd avoid reading too much into the usage of the word "Sipahi" in much the same way.
  14. It sucks that waist pieces are invisible since 2.0, I want a big Rider belt...
  15. Jana the Garlean Killler... Has a nice ring to it, don't it? Jana's both an Immortal Flame (Free Brigade) and a Garlean Hater, so of course she'll be happy to take part.
  16. I already made a toilet for my (currently OOC) room! I haven't figured out how to mock up a sink yet, though... ;-;
  17. I have nothing left to level combat-wise, so I'm going to have to accept the long DPS queues for every single dungeon... And having to roll Need against a second Rogue for every +Str drop. On the other hand, this does mean I can help buddies with my tanking/healing classes when I'm not leveling the new class myself.
  18. Iron and I were hoping we'd meet in the finals, but since the uneven count made there be only 1 semifinal match, it was still appropriately dramatic!
  19. Seems they're not really latrines, back to square 1! (One can assume there actually are latrines somewhere else; I'd always assumed a dug latrine would be what did it for soldiers and adventurers in the field.)
  20. Dumb Muscle, reporting for duty. Jana doesn't know anything about this stuff IC, but it could probably be arranged easily enough.
  21. Happened upon the thread by chance, since I don't usually check the off-topic section. (Why couldn't this have been in RP discussion, or even Balmung Events? ;-; ) I'll try to remember the day.
  22. My character's on the Flames, but if you're looking for people that rub elbows with important people, a Corporal in the Free Brigade if adventurers won't get you very far...
  23. Sounds like my first DnD character! :cactuar: Generally, other people's reactions aren't always going to be in line with yours. The easiest way to get your true intentions across might be in how you're emoting. If your character is a failure because he's creepy instead of outright ugly or stinky or something physical, the adjectives you use will help a lot when you describe his actions (a boorish laugh, or how his eyes wander to certain parts of a lady's anatomy followed by a heavy breath). Pen and paper RP can't be compared to MMO RP, especially since my character's targets were mostly NPCs controlled by the same GM, but I find these kinds of things go a long way in turning people off!
