Jana

I took a bunch of pictures of myself posing with my gifts for a Secret Santa in a different forum. The last picture is the stuff I got from my family (sans a pair of slippers and some underwear).

To some extent, Jana fights for all three. But her overall goal of revenge is very self-serving.

Seems I'm not the only one who does this, but Jana in this game is based on the Jana I played back in Tera, with all of her background re-worked and at a younger age (so minus a lot of Tera!Jana's additional experiences/baggage she had before going into RP). She's already grown into being a very different character through the RP she's seen in FFXIV, certainly able to stand out on her own in my mind. As for actually playing a character ported into Eorzea from a universe outside of it IC, I don't frown upon it when done well. But I don't personally play that kind of character because researching the lore behind a new game and making a background out of it is something I find a lot of fun.

Not to mention the Woodsin that, to outsiders, seems to be afflicted arbitrarily at the whims of the Elementals.

I've never played a polyamorous character (despite what others may think), but it's always made sense to me that Miqo'te would find it fairly normal. Even before the most recent Moogle Mail missions kinda confirmed it, I figured Keeper males being scarce would encourage them to move from matron group to matron group without really settling down. It's how I figured Jana's parenting would have been done as well.

My only complaints on ST are when people make it take longer than it should by messing up the already-simple mechanics and wiping. I usually go as BRD so I can braindead DPS everything since it's so long...

This is Qarn HM, not Tam-Tara! It does remind me of a particular Qarn HM run though... The tank was pulling one at a time, but as soon as I voiced that the NIN and I were geared and could take more, the tank pulled more. He probably didn't trust our pug DPS, the way we didn't trust his pug tanking! That said, I loved chainpulling while leveling WAR in low-level dungeons. Definitely made it fun for everyone else... Even the healer, despite early protests... And as a DPS, I'll totally rag on other melee DPS who don't know their proper rotations by the time they're doing Expert roulette dungeons, and on pretty much anyone who doesn't weave their off-gcd skills! I started as PLD and when the blade didn't drop after 4 axes, I went WAR. Guess who got an axe within 3 runs? Still though, F R E E S O L D I E R Y

I know I was! Thanks for hosting the event Erik and Company. Jana got to do something she really doesn't get to, act a little nosy and make some new friends along the way, so I had a lot of fun RPing it all out!

I don't see an option for "keeping my main the same race as before, but totally willing to tap dat."

Honestly, I thought the patchy scales kind of showed that the Au Ra might not be all that closely linked to dragons. If the lore for them does end up being descended from a dragon + Shiva's offspring, it would make sense for the dragon blood to get "watered down" over time, leaving them with more humanoid features.

From what we learned in the MSQ about souls and aether, I'd say Raise/Resurrection have a very limited time window that they can be used after someone has truly died. Usually though, I play it as an ability that recovers someone from unconsciousness instead of death. When an RP wants their character to die, they tend to stay dead.

I was actually planning on sending Jana... Somewhere to learn how Magitek works after leveling my crafting classes. Jana's kinda dumb and thinks she needs to know all the ins and outs of metalworking, alchemy, and arcanima to be able to work with magitek. But in RP,she's become so sidetracked that she's way behind! At least we should have until... June-ish to get ready for it!

I know I'm asking a little last-second, but you wouldn't happen to still need security for the event, would you?

Jana in FFXIV has a small scar on her cheek (I don't think it's as noticable in-game as I'd like, due to her skin tone). It doesn't have a particular story behind it, it's just a result of having grown up roughly. My character in Tera had some more extensive scarring though, mostly self-inflicted... But in the name of science!

*uses Rapid Synthesis on Eva* Ixal stuff isn't too bad if you have any 1 crafter at 50 with some melds. And if you don't and can't RNG your way through by force, just use the quests from a rep tier lower to keep raising rep and getting easy crafting exp. It's not that much less! Edit: Make sure you don't have 2 different debuffs applied; at the 2 final tiers you can end up with some crafts requiring no cross-class and some with lessened CP. Just right-click away the debuff when you finish crafting 1 quest item and before you begin another.

Looking at the gun class video and seeing how unrealistic this game has been with them so far, I'm wagering the medium-length gun will have some attacks using it like a rifle and some like a handgun. I'd imagine we're going to get attacks like "loads a shotgun shell" and "fires lots of bullets automatically" too. It's not dual-wielding Desert Eagles or anything like that, so I'm quite content.

Having to deal with my family... Bad enough on regular days but holidays that don't devolve into shouting matches are rare. Having to tell people how I feel about their Christmas presents... Save for maybe my sister and some close friends who know what I really enjoy, I'd rather they just gave me cash. Christmas Trees. Getting Christmas Trees out of storage. Putting up Christmas Trees. Checking that the lights work on Christmas Trees. Buying new lights for Christmas Trees. Decorating Christmas Trees. Posing in front of Christmas Trees. Taking down the lights and ornaments on Christmas Trees. Carefully disassembling and re-storing Christmas Trees. However, I would not be opposed to dragging Christmas Trees to the curb, dousing them in gasoline, and letting sparks fly.

While participating isn't entirely in-character for this character, I'll probably be there to watch and cheer!

Be prepared for this to happen a lot. It's become something of a running joke for my Flame characters. When this happens with Jana, I just run with it and tack on a "I'll send word for Brass Blades..." at the end. We don't really have many actual Brass Blades RP mains that patrol the city, so if Jana's flagged down while totally not on purposefully taking a walk while in uniform, I'm happy to help.

A lot of Flames-related RP also seems to be done in groups or FCs with their own units. Part of the reason that RPing Jana as part of the Free Brigade is so convenient is that she can be an accessory to lots of people's plots, even when she's representing the Flames. It may not fit Kale's character too much to have him hanging around the Quicksand, though...

The other main downside with using the Market Board to Try On items is that you can only try on tradable items; a lot of unique dungeon models and endgame gear can't be sold, so you can't try it in the market board either. However, I believe you can use Try On from another player's current equipment...

Jana isn't one of these characters, though she happily pretends to be one. Fighting with most hand-to-hand weapons and bows is something she's comfortable with (axes are too heavy for her, usually!), but her only IC-job is Summoner, a fact she tries to keep a secret.
