mongi291 Posted August 25, 2015 Share #5 Posted August 25, 2015 So, DRK Blood Weapon is a 20% reduction? Does that mean we're going to see TP costs that aren't a multiple of 10? Link to comment
Aaron Posted August 25, 2015 Share #6 Posted August 25, 2015 Do I still get my 15% skill speed increase? If not ima be annoyed. UGH I'm often a bad and forget that I even have it when tanking. After all, you can't use it with Grit on, and I usually had other methods to recover my MP without having to open myself up to some heavier hits. Having it as a TP recovery might result in me using it more, but I usually don't have TP issues either - so likely it'll be a matter of me not really noticing its there unless I'm DPSing and I'm just popping it for the speed increase. Lol @ monks having problems with TP I tried out Alex this morning after the patch and oh my glob those changes are amazing. I mean, I was 100% fine with how it was before (I tend to just adapt to how things are), but now it's like. THE CONVENIENCE. THE DAMAGE. URGHNGHNGH. SO GOOD. The reduction of the meditation cast time makes it super easy to recharge between packs of mobs, and in instances where you can't hit the boss now. Before it was a bit of a tight fit, but now it's a breeze. THAT MAKES ME HAPPY. That extra two seconds on greased lightning makes A HUGE DIFFERENCE. THAT DAMAGE BUFF THOUGH. INSTANTLY VISIBLE RESULTS. I won't argue if those buffs were needed or not because I have no idea but GODDAMN, I welcome them. Link to comment

The change is largely for DRK when they're OT. It gives attackspeed, so OT DRK vs. MT DRK ran out of TP faster. It still won't be necessary to bounce in and out to use it while tanking or anything, and it's a reduction in cost rather than a regen type effect; So it's just a neat little thing for extended fights as OffTank. For longer fights as MT people can now see your TP bar though, so perhaps people with TP support abilities will start using them more when the tank is 3 minutes into a fight and starting to run empty. All in all good changes. Link to comment

Manari Posted August 25, 2015 Share #15 Posted August 25, 2015 So does this mean that all Ninja are going to be required to switch to Monk now or be left behind in the lolNIN category? Was Monk really that bad that they needed a crapton of buffs? I haven't played a Monk since early 2.0. Link to comment

Was Monk really that bad that they needed a crapton of buffs? I haven't played a Monk since early 2.0. I don't think that's a requirement at all! The monk changes are really just polishing. Ninjas are still fine. The buffs to monk LOOK numerous, but most of them are for convenience. The greased lightning buff had to be listed three times because there's three tiers of it, etc. It just needed to be tweaked to be a bit more powerful at endgame, really! I'm willing to bed that ninjas are still fine. Their versatility is pretty handy, and they bring the slashing damage debuff in the event that the team has no warrior! Link to comment
Caspar Posted August 25, 2015 Share #17 Posted August 25, 2015 Not to look a gifthorse in the mouth, but I do not see why Monk needed buffs. I'll accept regardless. Honestly, the GL duration increase really was the only buff I needed back when Monks were underpowered, but I guess better late than never. Now that Form Shift exists, the short duration rarely is a problem except between trash pulls. Link to comment

Well they were overshadowed by the pure suck that was old drg, but back when bard was too strong, rather than just nerf bard, they slightly nerfed them AND improved monk and I think drg was later but not sure now. Closer to 2.0. Even then I never really felt like I had trouble contributing as Monk, only that raid or instance strategy was heavily skewed towards ranged and that was a deliberate choice by parties. I use blood weapon all the time. Infact I use it a lot on boss fights like in Neverreap or the second fractal boss. I don't even use it for the mp recovery I use it for the speed increase for my dark arts soul eater combos. It was basically my dps frenzy button. Hell I use it mt or ot. Haven't had complaints so far. But it went from 15 - 10% speed increase so I guess I can deal with that. I just hate the constant tweaking of classes so crybaby can play em when they work perfectly fine as is. (Not calling you or anyone here a crybaby but you get my point. ) Link to comment

Invigorate is usually enough, but if a monk is anticipating TP issues it's easy enough to charge up some chakra stacks and bust it out. Hell, with the meditation recast time reduction it's even easier now! Link to comment
Steel Wolf Posted August 25, 2015 Share #25 Posted August 25, 2015 Yanno, I never really even noticed that my Unleash covered the target rings in a black morass. I'll take it. Also, dat Blood Weapon buff. I'm not in any OT modes yet (still hoping to pull friends together to do the things/waiting), but that most definitely sounds like it will come in quite handy.
