  1. I don't think its unfair of me to say that anyone who is the self-proclaimed protagonist of the story is being very unreasonable and that they cannot expect to be taken seriously by other RPers. If you want to RP in a small group of your own then that is fine, but do not expect others (or me) to cater and adjust to what I know or think has happened just to suit every little snowflake version of particular events. True, not everyone can be catered to and there will be some exclusion but that will always be the case with RP scenarios. We have a rather large community here. Surely a significant portion of us are open to the idea of following some significant chronicle of events, something that is consistent and that we can all play a part in to varying degrees? What I would like to see is something that was suggested before in another topic, a party of "heroes" that play an important role SIMILAR to that of the main story. They should not be Gods or capable of great things all on their lonesome. They should just be the ones credited to having significant participation in battle, leaderships and/or judgements and can influence the world's(that is everyone who agrees) populace. In addition to that, we could have "masters" and expert roleplayers of varying styles helping to form the foundation of everything that happens and keeping it all framed and tidy to ensure consistency just as Clover had suggested. Now, even if people were to agree to this idea, I personally feel that I'd want specific types of people to play the important roles. This is not a matter of "Sorry, you're not a good enough rp'er" or anything, but rather something that is believable and fitting to the role they are supposed to handle. I'd hate, for instance, to see someone acting like slaying four or five people/beasts is as easy as breathing and loves to do crazy mad flips through the air and slicing & dicing everything in sight before their enemies have a chance to react. So with that, it'd be nice if we all had a vote on the candidates for certain roles. Not everyone should be nice or perfect or the pinnacle of perfection when it comes to fighting. Strengths could lie anywhere, I would just like something believable and people that I can honestly incorporate into my own roleplay even if I never meet them. That's just one term I think everyone who is open to this idea can agree on. It wouldn't be a vote on quality of RP, just a judgement on the potential your existing character would provide to such roles with everything taken into consideration. Well anyways, that's all just my input, sorry if any of it sounds ridiculous.
  2. If K'mih(Clover) is there then I'll be along too with my miqo'te ^^/ Looking forward to this >w<
  3. THE ILLUMINATI ARE ATTACKING THE FFXIV SERVERS! Oh God this got me... hahaha >w<
  4. Oh for God's sake, can we all just calm down a bit? I'm annoyed at the current situation too but there's no need to start mudslinging and people are starting to become offended. @Uther Yes, people are rude and unkind and it is a good idea for others to try and develop a thick skin so as to not be as easily offended by such things but don't use that as an excuse to be very blunt with the way you say things when you know there is a good chance people aren't going to take it well. @BloodWillow Tensions are high at the moment, please don't take it personally. It doesn't help that there are many people here of varying opinions as well so just try to see it as it is and not take anything to heart despite what it may seem.
  5. This sounds interesting. If you could message me over the forum I'd like to get a bit more information from you about potential ideas so that I could see if I could work it. I can imagine one of my characters being a part of this depending on how it goes. A main character is doubtful for his personality though. It would also depend on the party's goal and how everyone felt about having an arrogant, yet powerful snob on the team. A more likely role would be possibly a use of his sleuthing, bounty hunting or essentially what you could consider P.I work in exchange for coin(not literal gil of course), in addition to him using certain advantages and ties to the group's advantage. It could bring the group some use of the more immoral sides of things, though not everything in relation to him has to be that way of course. Well, up to you ^^ I'd like to have some part of this, even if only minor!
  6. Can we rename this to the official screenshot thread and pin/sticky it please? ^^ Its nice to view peoples screenshots and it can grow much more were it to be stickied. Anyways, I'll add a few here before I keel over and die. I have work in the morning and I am still up wwww Okay seriously, now to sleep. *Dies*
  7. No-one is without their disappointments and annoyances held towards the game from the start of early access but I don't think anyone in this community was genuinely hating on SE and blaming them for much. I have finally found myself being driven daft by the login failures in the evening time but I am still in love with this game and wont go about bashing it or complaining about it and, like I said, I'm sure almost everyone, if not everyone, in this community is of the same opinion. Will add my own bit now, thank you very much. I'd really like for Yoshi and his team to know that his work for this version, despite the niggly drawbacks so far, is highly appreciated, and that's coming from someone who has never touched another FF game before. I can only imagine how happy previous users must feel.
  8. Just spent an hour trying to relog from my main to my alt which, at the time, had an IC meeting in an hour. Currently 15 minutes late, so likely missed it completely =w= Edit: And with that I'm in.. great and all since I didn't even want to play =w=
  9. It's looking like gathering everyone together for the meetings is rather difficult, no doubt mostly down to the server issues going on at the moment. In any case, if anyone hasn't applied already and is in any ways interested in this event then please do consider applying! ^^ We can use all of the backups we can get from the looks of it. Let's not have all of Kylin's effort go to waste >w<
  10. Ahhhhh x_x I should have checked the topic. I was sitting around 30 minutes in advance >w< Luckily enough another person showed up otherwise I would have been there much longer and worrying about getting the time wrong.
  11. On the last night of the beta I climbed some big rock in Central(I think) Thanalan near a busy road and waved at everyone who passed, mostly chocobo riders. I later realised most were using porters but so few people acknowledged me and the two people who eventually joined me ;-; I need to make a cheatsheet, thank you for reminding me to work on it. I like to do many of the things you mentioned but today I had to mostly do quests as I needed to get along in the story to make it from Ul'dah to Gridania for an IC meeting later on >w< Almost there, before the maintenance, eheh.
  12. They're trying to make us think the game is more popular than it is! >:v It doesn't really bother me. Shame it happened when I was halfway through an instance but it gave my friend and I an excuse to write some quick tags to close a scene so I am almost happy there was a maintenance TwT
  13. The first distinct sound of steel slashing through the worm's flesh immediately caught K'nahli's attention. Up until now her vision had become hazy and shaky, unable to focus on her sister's actions. All she could see was her petite frame facing off against that monstrous and unforgiving beast. But now, with the alerting sound of success, her vision came back into focus. K'mih dodged the worm's attack effectively and countered with several, heaving slashes of her axe. Her strikes were imperfect and not as clean as she was capable of, but they did the job. The incapacitated worm throbbed and groaned in pain on the arid, desert floor before succumbing to the young Miqo'tes final strikes as she handed out it's death sentence. It was done. Her baby sister had passed the test. "She.. really did it" the girl whispered softly to herself in relief, resting the side of her head against a nearby tree. She remained there alone in silence for a moment, deep in thought as her garnet-coloured eyes stared blankly at the ground below her. Her eyes flickered lightly in realisation as they lifted once again to focus on the young miqo'te in the distance. A subtle smile slowly cracked free on the silent observer's face. She was unquestionably happy, but above all else, she was a resolutely proud sister.
  14. haha, just teasing her over a previous encounter from phase three, but in the interest of my better health I won't say anymore TwT Shouldn't you be in bed by now? O_O
  15. Haha yes >w< I'll be around and free tomorrow but I won't be able to play until the afternoon/evening unfortunately TwT Will be agooony.
  16. I don't want to think of ice-creams or carnivals every time I think of that place! >w<
  17. GOD. I never played any FF game before this but even I got feels from that! >w< It made me imagine many RP scenes for my characters as well for some reason *replays* i waved to you in gridania on phase four but you didnt notice (*cough* I wouldn't be surprised if she did notice but was too shy to acknowledge it wwww)
  18. I don't see why fountains HAVE to mean a garden but okay! I hope so. Chocobo breeding.. bgvwydhagwbdnoawgdbawkdbjawhkdnawdawd ALSO!!!!!! Is that how you actually pronounce Limsa Lominsa? I always said it like: Lim-za Lom-in-sa whereas he says: Lim-sa Lo-minsa I dunno, the way he says it makes it sound like an ice-cream cone or something >w<
  19. I have an IC meeting tomorrow I think so I guess tomorrow ^^
  20. "..ahhh.." The words slipped free from K'nahli's lips, her voice rattled silently in a distressed murmur. Her anxiety was becoming increasingly more difficult to contain. Her right hand clutched her bow tightly by her side to the extent that it began to hurt. She had long since learned to contain certain emotions and had done well up until now, but truth be told, she had been far more nervous than K'mih ever was. At least it certainly felt that way. Intervening now could result in her expulsion from the tribe or even the automatic forfeit of K'mih's trial. She reached her left arm across her chest and clutched her right arm firmly in an attempt to subdue her involuntary shaking and prevent herself from acting rashly in an attempt to help her sister. "She's strong.. she doesn't need me" she whispered to herself, her voice crackling harshly as she failed to hold back a tear that began rolling down her cheek from the sheer mental agony of it all. "She doesn't.... she... doesn't.." she repeated to herself, her voice becoming closer to a whimper as her legs grew weak under her, bringing her close to slumping down on her knees.
  21. Ooh, nice thread. I was wondering about this quite recently.
  22. I only write about important events that would explain how they came to be in their current situation or anything that impacted their life in particular ways that affected their personality, mentality or behaviour. Anything normal or not really worthy of note can really just be saved for RP'ing with others. I mean sure, develop information about their interests, family and anything else that may be brought up in the future, but I wouldn't go into too much detail about anything that didn't serve of at least relative importance to your character. But yes, out of the very few characters I have played so far, I like to leave them open to change, even if it seems unlikely. I love when other people can influence my other characters or vice versa. I am also looking forward to the day I can create a character with a set agenda and probably will never change, but it's all down to the person you want them to be in the end. Do they know who they are? Do they THINK they know who they are? Or do they know nothing at all about who they are and where they truly stand?
  23. Very well TwT Couldn't find any screenshots that would work for a mount so here u.u
  24. The "European" servers are located in Montreal along with the NA servers so there's no need to worry about latency. Apparently the only reason they are labelled as such is for timezone purposes. The official RP server is Balmung and has a heavy European population but there is also Gilgamesh which is a secondary server where some people chose to go because they didn't want to play with Legacy players. I believe there are some EU players there as well. There is limited lore indeed, so a lot of it is just based on assumptions for now. I, myself, am a part of a desert tribe with my miqo'te but if you don't want such a setup then you can always just go as a city miqo'te as they do exist(there are NPCs living and working there after all, so you are free to make up such a scenario without deviating from the lore). A linkshell from what I understand is basically a group chat in-game that serves as a method of communication. You can join several in-game. It's sort of like a guild except all there is to it is a guild chat, whereas Free Companies are the actual 'guilds'. So for example, I am currently in two linkshells. One for EU users and another for my Miqo tribe ^^ Welcome to the game. I hope you and your boyfriend have a great time there and on these forums. Good luck with whatever choice you make ^^ Edit: As for the lag, it's hardly noticeable. This is also my first Final Fantasy game so maybe this is normal but I am guessing not. The only thing I have noticed is that monsters usually take .3 to .5 of a second to die after I land the final hit and thats it. I don't have awesome net myself and I am from Ireland so I am hardly any different from you when it comes to distance ^^/
  25. Cause no one got any e-mail I assume. Codes are from wrong regions so people are region locked (ie NA are getting UK codes so don't work) PS3 users are getting PC games There is alot. And I never got any e-mail at all after pre-ordering it about 3 months ago /shrugs VERY few are regestering fine. 'tis not even about that, I can understand the concern there. Rather I mean the people that INSIST on registering their code now, now, now. I've read a lot about it on the Beta forums especially the other day. People constantly refreshing and retrying despite the errors, ugh.
